You were honestly so excited, you couldn’t remember the last time you had a slumber party and you had been looking forward to this for weeks since your friend first suggested it. You had spent the entire morning getting everything ready for what you were sure was going to be a great night. You went out and bought all kinds of snacks because snacks are a slumber party necessity. After you had put all the unhealthy food away, you went around the house gathering all the blankets and pillows you could find, as well as some tape and clothes pins and everything else you deemed as necessary tools for building the ultimate slumber party blanket fort. The actual building of the fort would be saved as a slumber party activity but you wanted to make sure you had everything you could possibly need in a handy location.

It was about 3pm by the time you finished all the preparations and you could feel your heart practically racing with excitement. This was the first time in a while that you would actually be able to just relax and have fun for a night and you found yourself really looking forward to it. However, after preparing for the fun all morning, you were actually feeling quite tired. While looking at the clock to confirm that you still had a few hours until your friend was due to arrive, you lied down on the couch to catch a quick nap.

The sky was a perfect light blue and the freshly mowed grass was so soft. The air smelled of pollen and the lake that was just down the hill. You couldn’t remember the last time the weather had been this nice, with the sun hiding behind clouds just enough that it wasn’t too hot but also still sunny. The soft breeze rustled your hair and you sighed in content. You closed your eyes and let your skin bask in the sun while thinking about how peaceful it felt to be lying in the grass. An annoying trilling sound was getting louder and louder and you were mad that it was disrupting this perfect moment. You were alarmed at how loud it was getting and it seemed to never stop.

You woke with a start, slightly disappointed that your nice dream was over and you realised that the annoying sound in your dream was actually your phone ringing. You looked at the call display and saw it was your friend that was due to come over in a few hours so you answered in an excited voice. That excitement was quickly extinguished by the fact that your friend was calling to say she couldn’t make it because her car broke down and she needed to go and get it fixed. You ended the call after reassuring her that you weren’t too disappointed and saying that you could always reschedule.

This , what am I supposed to do with all the food I bought? and I even brought all the blankets out to make a fort, I don’t want everything to go to waste you thought while trying to come up with an alternate plan for the evening. You decided that all your hard work couldn’t be put to waste so you scrolled through the contact list on your phone in order to find someone else who could come over and enjoy the evening with you. The problem was that the contact list was very small and the few friends you did have didn’t like spontaneous plans.

Just when you thought all hope was lost and that you were destined to spend your night alone, you got a snapchat from Taehyung. It was one of his cute signature blurry selfies and you couldn’t help but laugh at the butterflies that you felt in your stomach. You had been friends with Taehyung for ages and over the past few months you felt your affection towards him grow into something much more than platonic. You knew that he would never feel the same way so you had been keeping your crush a secret and you planned to keep it that way. After you had finished admiring how cute he was, you read the caption on the picture that said “I’m bored, wanna hang out tonight?”

Taehyung used to sleep over at your house all the time, but ever since you developed feelings for him you had been distancing yourself a bit in order to try and get over your crush. However, you were sad that your friend cancelled on you and you really didn’t want your slumber party efforts to go to waste so you opened up your kkt chat with him and typed “hey taehyung! i got your snap, can you ever take a clear picture? ^_^ so i was supposed to have a slumber party with my friend tonight but she just cancelled on me so is there any way you would be up for building a blanket fort and eating an alarming amount of junk food with me tonight?” You stared at it for a good 5 minutes while trying to work up the nerve to hit send and when you finally clicked it you breathed out a sigh of relief. You honestly didn’t think Taehyung would say yes because even though he was the one to ask you to hang out, he probably had way better offers from his vast number of friends.

Not even a minute after you sent it, you heard your phone ping with Taehyung’s reply, “yessssssss i am so down for that. i’ll come over in 20?” Your heart started racing when you read his reply, you knew it was probably a bad idea to have him come over since you were trying to get over your crush on him but the part that wanted to see him overruled the rational part of your mind.

“sounds good, see you soon!!” you quickly texted back.

Sure enough, exactly 20 minutes later, the doorbell rang and there stood Taehyung looking cute as ever on the other side. He was holding a massive teddy bear that was almost as tall as him and you couldn’t help but laugh at the sight.

“Hey Taehyung,” you said while still laughing. “And hello Taehyung’s friend” you said as a greeting to the human sized stuffed bear.

“Hey,” Taehyung said while maneuvering him and the bear through your front door. He looked at you with an uncharacteristically shy expression and you raised your eyebrows at him. “I was at the store when I texted you and I saw this guy after you asked me to come over and I thought that nothing would be more fitting for a slumber party than a giant bear. Plus what’s a slumber party with just two people? I thought he could be our third,” Taehyung said while avoiding eye contact with you and looking at the bear. He smoothed down the bear’s fur while positioning him on your couch. You noticed that Taehyung’s cheeks were a little red and you wondered why.

“Well I think he’ll make a wonderful addition to our slumber party,” you said. You motioned for Taehyung to put the rest of his stuff on the ground beside the couch while walking over to the pile of blankets and pillows you have stacked in the corner earlier that day. “First things first,” you began, “we need the build the ultimate blanket fort.”

Taehyung smiled his wide smile at you and practically bounced over to where you were standing. You’d never seen someone build a blanket fort with as much enthusiasm as Taehyung. He looked like he was having the absolute best time of his life and before you knew it - and without much effort on your part - Taehyung had constructed a blanket fort that managed to fit both your couch and your TV. Once the fort was put up, Taehyung went and pulled something out of his bag.

“I thought our fort could use some lights so I might have stopped at my house on the way here and got some christmas lights out of the garage,” Taehyung explained to you while he fought with the knotted rope of lights. Once he finally got them untangled he began to string them up on the inside of the fort, after telling you that you weren’t allowed to enter until it was all done. Taehyung climbed out of the fort with a big smile on his face and looked at you with pure excitement.

“Okay it’s all done, you can go in and admire my hard work now!” he exclaimed.

“Wow Tae, it really is amazing,” you say once you crawl inside. The fort was made with thick blankets so none of the outside light was visible, but the christmas lights made up for that. They added a soft glow to the fort and gave it a cozy atmosphere. The floor of the fort was made of few layers of blankets and basically every pillow that was in your house, making it look extremely comfortable. The fort spanned from the back of your couch to the back of your TV so both were included inside which meant that you and Taehyung could watch movies later. You laid down with a smile on your face and let yourself melt into the cushions on the floor and marveled at how comfortable it was.

You looked over at Taehyung and caught him staring at you with an odd look on his face. You brushed it off because he had a tendency to zone out sometimes and not notice what he was staring at. He quickly glanced away once he noticed you were looking at him and you noticed his cheeks get a little red again. You wondered if you should turn the radiator down because this wasn’t the first time you noticed his red face and you were worried that it might be too hot in the house.

Once you and Taehyung had settled in the fort, you decided that it was the perfect time to go and grab the vast array of snacks that you had bought earlier. So while leaving Taehyung in the fort, you went to the kitchen to grab them and returned with your arms full. In your attempt to climb into the fort with your arms full of snacks, you tripped and ended up practically throwing everything in your arms at Taehyung.

“Oh my god Taehyung I’m so sorry I’m so clumsy ugh I always do this kind of stuff around the guys I like why am I like this,” you rambled on without taking a breath or realising what you were saying. Once what you said clicked into your mind, you looked at Taehyung with mortification on your face. You couldn’t believe that you just accidentally admitted to liking him after trying to hide it for so long.

“Wait….. What did you just say?” Taehyung asked in a careful voice. He was looking at you with that weird look on his face again and it confused you.

“Nothing Taehyung, please just forget that I said anything,” you said with a flaming red face.

“I’m sorry but I can’t do that. Did you just say that you liked me?” Taehyung asked, not letting the topic go. You wished the blankets would swallow you up and make you disappear.

“....Yes. Honestly over these past few months I’ve kind of developed a crush on you and I know it’s ridiculous because I know that you don’t feel the same way about me and I really don’t want to ruin our friendship and I’m really sorry god this is going to make everything so awkward now I’m sorry,” you said in one breath because you knew if you didn’t say it fast you would lose all nerve to say anything at all.

Taehyung turned to you so you were both sitting across from each other in the blanket fort. It felt kind of romantic, with the soft lighting from the christmas lights illuminating the scene. But you knew any feeling of romance would be crushed as soon as Taehyung undoubtedly told you he didn’t feel the same way and left you alone. Taehyung actually looked kind of shy which was really uncharacteristic of him but you brushed it off as him feeling awkward because he had to reject you.

“Y/N, I…. I have something to admit to you,” Taehyung started, and you could feel the butterflies going crazy in your stomach. “I’ve actually liked you for about a year now but I didn’t want to say anything because I was worried you wouldn’t feel the same way.” Taehyung could tell you were about to interrupt so he held up his hand to signal that he wasn’t done yet. “Please just let me get this out before I chicken out once again,” Taehyung said. “I had actually planned to tell you a few weeks ago but I lost the nerve. While it’s true that I just saw you as a friend for the first few years of our friendship, I noticed something change after a while. Every time you texted me I would smile like an idiot and I wanted to spend all my time with you. I started noticing just how beautiful you are and how wonderful your laugh is. I noticed how sweet you are and how caring you can be towards your friends. After I started feeling more for you it really didn’t take me that long to fall for you,” Taehyung said while looking deep into your eyes.

“Oh and one more thing. The bear that I brought for you, well I kind of lied about how I got it. I actually saw it at the store a few weeks ago and it reminded me of you. So I kind of bought it for you but then thought it would be weird to just give you a gift so I kept it at my house and waited for the perfect moment to give it to you.” Taehyung admitted with a shy smile on his face.

“Okay that’s it, that’s all I have to say. You can talk now,” Taehyung said while chuckling nervously.

You tried to think of something to say but you were left so speechless after listening to Taehyung’s confession. Everything he said to you was exactly the way you felt about him and you were left in disbelief.

Taehyung noticed you weren’t saying anything and looked at you sadly. “I’m sorry, I totally scared you off. I mean you admitted to having a crush on me for a few months but then I had to come out and say I’ve been secretly falling in love with you for like a year,” Taehyung said. “I’m sorry, I’ll just leave now,” he said while getting up to try and get out of the fort.

“Wait Taehyung, no,” you said, while grabbing his hand and pulling him back down. Once he was sitting across from you once again, you didn’t let go of his hand. He noticed this and began smoothing his thumb gently across the back of your hand. “I just didn’t know what to say, because I feel the exact same way,” you said shyly while looking at your intertwined hands. “And the fact that you bought me that bear is just way too adorable.”

A breathtaking grin broke out on Taehyung’s face and you couldn’t help but smile back at him. He looked at you with pure happiness and you could feel your heart beating in your chest. His face grew serious and you just stared at him.

“Can I…. Can I kiss you?” Taehyung asked tentatively.

“Okay, but I, umm, I’ve never actually kissed anyone before so I don’t know what I’m doing,” you admitted to him. You were worried that he would be disappointed with your lack of experience but he just smiled warmly at you.

“Well then, we’ll just have to make sure your first kiss is perfect,” Taehyung said, while shifting his body so he was crawling on top of you. He gently pushed you down so you were lying in a nest of pillows. He your face with his thumb and looked at you with pure adoration.

You swore that your heart was about to beat out of your chest and you couldn’t believe that Taehyung was being so gentle and sweet. Ever since your crush for him started, you had been wishing that he would be your first kiss and you couldn’t believe that your dream was about to come true.

Taehyung slowly leaned down while looking into your eyes to make sure you were okay with this. Once he got close to your face he closed his eyes and you followed his lead and did the same. His soft lips connected with yours and your chest swelled with affection for him. You had never felt so happy or content before. The kiss was short but sweet, the perfect first kiss in your opinion. Taehyung pulled away slowly and smiled at you, while gently your face again. He leaned in and gave you a quick peck on both your cheeks and then your forehead before sitting up fully.

“So,” you said while giggling. “That was nice.”

Taehyung smiled at you and grabbed your hands, pulling you up so you were sitting across from him again. “I’ve been dreaming about doing that for way too long,” Taehyung admitted. He looked at you shyly again and you couldn’t help but smile because shy Taehyung was a rare but very adorable sight. “So, will you be my girlfriend?” Taehyung asked.

You giggled again and you felt like you were in a dream. Everything was so perfect and you couldn’t believe that this was really happening. “Of course Taehyung. There’s nothing I want more,” you said while looking at him with adoration in your eyes.

He smiled at you once again and you loved the feeling of being the cause of his beautiful smile. It was definitely something you could get used to. He leaned in and kissed you again and it was just as perfect as the first time.

“Well now that that’s all settled, how about you live up to your promise by eating an alarming amount of junk food with me while we watch a movie,” Taehyung said to you.

You laughed and gathered the snacks that were scattered around the fort while Taehyung the TV and found a movie that he thought you would both enjoy. Once the movie was on, Taehyung shifted so he was leaning against the couch and he pulled you in his arms, while grabbing a blanket to drape on top of the both of you. Once you were comfortably nestled in his side with his arm around you, he gave you a sweet kiss on the forehead before turning his attention to the movie.

While you were originally disappointed that your friend cancelled on your slumber party, you couldn’t help but believe that maybe everything does happen for a reason. You curled into your boyfriend’s side and sighed in content. The evening had turned out better than you could have ever imagined and you were extremely happy. It truly was a great night.
