The Rabbit with Tear-Filled Eyes

Kyungsoo grumbled as he awoke to a heavy weight baring down onto his stomach. He opened his eyes and tried to wiggle out from none other than his stupid roommate Chen. The dumb cat hybrid always ended up in Kyungsoo’s bed at night and used the poor bunny hybrid as a pillow. He cried out for his other roommate, a sassy dog hybrid named Baekhyun, who came stumbling down from the top of the bunk. He rubbed his eyes to get the sleep out of him and raised his foot to roughly kick Chen in the side. The cat jumped in the air and hissed before realizing his situation. He smiled at Kyungsoo and ruffled his hair.

“Sorry Soo! You’re just so comfortable!”

“Get off of me you stupid cat!” Kyungsoo struggled underneath Chen again, his face was getting redder by the second.

Both of his roommates cooed at the sight. They always found their small Soo so precious that they couldn’t help but find everything he did absolutely adorable. Chen eventually got off of the tiny boy, after teasing him for a couple more minutes of course. Kyungsoo took his time getting dressed because he thought he woke up at the same time he always does, but to his unfortunate surprise it was already 7:00 am! Now most people might say that he has all the time in the world considering he didn’t have to be in his homeroom until 8:50, but Kyungsoo had a very good reason for always waking up at 6:00 am everyday and leaving as quickly as he could. His boarding school was made for hybrids. It was a way for hybrids to get know others of their kind and to understand what makes them who they are. Before his school was built though, their was an all boy’s boarding school for regular boys. Kyungsoo’s school was built long after right next door. Although humans and hybrids were legally equal, it doesn’t mean that they were always treated that way. Many humans avoided wolf and bear hybrids, because they knew they could get killed by them, but they had no problem picking on the small ones like Kyungsoo. His fluffy white ears twitched at the memories of taunts and relentless wedgies. He rubbed his subconsciously. The same group of humans always went after him so he began leaving earlier before the evil bums could wake up. Now everything is messed up, and of course he blames it on Chen. Then Kyungsoo remembered something even worse. Chen and Baekhyun didn’t have morning classes on Friday. Poor Kyungsoo wouldn’t have his best friends to protect him if he did run into those evil humans. He grabbed his backpack as he began to tear up a bit. You need to be brave Kyungsoo. The poor bunny kept chanting to himself in his head. He walked to the door and took one last glance at his best friends that were fast asleep already. He was going to have to trust his speed today, if only his backpack wasn’t full of heavy textbooks.

Jongin sat at a bench perched right on the side of the school and slowly slurped on the banana milk he stole from his roommate Taemin. Jongin always came out early to watch the hybrids as they went on their way to school. Jongin had always been amazed by hybrids, which was the main reason he applied for this dumb boarding school anyway. Right next to them was a plethora of hybrids. Some were cute and others were scary, it all depended on what animal they were combined with. He had seen all kinds of hybrids in his three years at school, but one hybrid he’s never seen is a bunny hybrid. He’s always wanted to see one in real life, not just pictures. They were rumored to be beautiful and tiny. They also supposedly acted as cute and skittish as a little bunny would. Jongin was starting to believe he would never see one in real life.

“Why are you pouting to yourself, creep.”

Jongin looked up to see his other roommate, Sehun, staring at him with a raised brow. Jongin shrugged and went back to staring across the courtyard as his friend sat next to him. Jongin didn’t even realize he was pouting. He chewed on his straw feverishly as his thoughts went back to the bunny hybrids.

“Okay seriously dude? I know you’re weird, but what the hell is your problem right now?”

“Bunnies.”

“Excuse me?”

“I want to see a bunny hybrid so badly! It’s killing me!” Jongin fell backwards onto Sehun’s lap dramatically.

“Then go see one.” Sehun deadpanned, his resting face clearly displayed. Although, this time Jongin wasn’t sure if it was just resting or if Sehun was judging him.

“It’s not that easy ! They’re rare for some reason even I don’t know!”

“Wow something about hybrids you don’t know. That’s a new one. Is the fact that they’re so rare making you want to see one so badly?”

“No! It’s because they look absolutely adorable and are all tiny and-” Jongin began to ramble on and Sehun regretted inquiring in the first place.

“Maybe,” Sehun cut him off as he stood up, he had to get away from his rambling friend. “you’ll see one someday! Maybe even today! So don’t give up.”

Jongin sighed as he watched his friend disappear back into the school. He wished Sehun was right.

Kyungsoo whimpered as the tall humans backed him into a corner poking at him and teasing him. One of the boys grabbed him roughly by the ear and began dragging him towards their school. That was the last thing Kyungsoo wanted! What if they killed him! What if they want to eat him!? True horror was filling every inch of Kyungsoo body as he began to squirm for freedom. His useless attempts just made his bullies laugh. They took him into the abandoned gym behind the human’s school and hung him up on a beam by his shirt collar. He was just thankful that it wasn’t his underwear this time. They began to leave and Kyungsoo called out in a scared voice.

“Well, you always try to hide from us little bunny, so we’re doing you a favor. No one comes back here. Ever.” the student harshly slammed the door shut.

Kyungsoo was alone in the dark, musty gym and it was scaring him even more. He always wished he was brave like the wolf hybrids at his school, but alas he was a little bunny born with the genes of constantly being frightened. Kyungsoo began to sob uncontrollably as he began to think that he’d never see Chen and Baekhyun again. He wished his friends would come find him, but even when they eventually noticed he was gone, they wouldn’t know to look in this dirty, old gym. He concluded that he was going to die here all alone and no one would ever know. He kept thinking of how painful and slow his death was going to be and made himself cry harder and louder than before. Kyungsoo was sobbing so loud that he didn’t hear the door creaking open. Kyungsoo finally silenced him sob when he heard loud footsteps. He didn’t know if he should be happy that someone is here or be afraid. It could be the bullies coming back to torture him. Kyungsoo pinned his ears against his head so tight you could barely see them. He soon came face to face with a human who was clearly taken aback when he saw him there. Kyungsoo let out a sigh of relief seeing as the bullies most likely didn’t send him. The boy smiled warmly at him and began to let the boy down. Kyungsoo perked his ears up, causing the boy to gasp. Kyungsoo took a couple steps back from the boy when he was put down, afraid the boy would treat him differently since he knows he’s a hybrid.

“You’re-You’re a bunny hybrid!” Jongin’s smile was so wide it looked like it could break his face.

“Y-yes I am. P-please don’t hurt me!”

“Silly! I would never hurt you! You’re so cute!” Jongin pulled the unsuspecting bunny into a tight hug.

Kyungsoo’s nose twitched in confusion. Sure, this human was extremely handsome and he smelled nice, but why was he hugging him? He also called him cute. Kyungsoo’s face turned red at the thought. The boy pulled back and was still donning the brightest, most beautiful smile in the whole world.

“What’s your name little bunny?”

“K-k-Kyungsoo.”

“I’m Jongin. What are you doing back here?”

“Umm, some guys from your school don’t like me very much.” Kyungsoo looked down and played with the hem of his shirt.

Jongin found Kyungsoo absolutely adorable, but he was starting to fill with anger when he realized that someone bullied this innocent bunny.

“How about I walk you out?” Jongin offered Kyungsoo his hand. “No one will mess with you if I do.”

Kyungsoo’s nose twitched again and Jongin almost squealed at the sight. Kyungsoo hesitantly reached out and placed his hand in Jongin’s. Kyungsoo felt safe when the boy squeezed his hand and began leading him out of the gym. He was already growing fond of the human when he usually fears them and avoids them as much as he possibly can. They reached the courtyard before Kyungsoo waved him goodbye.

“We can see each other again right?” Jongin called out.

“I-if you want t-to.” Kyungsoo blushed and casted his eyes towards the floor.

“Of course I want to!”

Kyungsoo smiled and nodded before running off.

Jongin ran towards Sehun whilst yelling and waving his hands through the air violently. Sehun had decided that his best friend was truly senile now. Jongin tackled Sehun to the grounds and hugged him while squealing like a girl.

“Aren’t you supposed to be practicing your dance right now?” Sehun pushed his friend off of him and brushed himself off.

“Something more important happened!” Jongin’s eyes had stars shining in them.

“I’m kind of afraid to ask what that is…”

“I met a bunny hybrid! There is one who goes to school right next to us!! He’s so cute and tiny like the reports say and his name is Kyungsoo and he so precious and shy and-”

“Okay! Okay! I get it shut up! Congrats now you can die happy.” Sehun pushed his friend away who got extremely close during his rant and began speed walking away before he could continue.

“Wait! YOU HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT THE ADORABLE KYUNGSOO!!!!!”

Baekhyun and Chen engulfed Kyungsoo in a tight hug and began crying over how they thought they ‘lost their baby’. Kyungsoo rolled his eyes and tried to get out from between them but they just hugged him tighter. He was getting hugged an awful lot. Baekhyun grabbed Kyungsoo’s face and swiveled it around checking for any bruises or cuts, worried that his precious Soo was injured. The little bunny pushed his friend’s worried hands away and told him that he was fine. Chen grabbed him this time and checked for a fever.

“Why would I have a fever!?”

“Your face was all red when you came back! I thought you caught a cold!”

Kyungsoo pushed the damned cat’s hands off of him and covered his cheeks with his own. He knew why he was. The human’s handsome face kept popping up in his mind. Baekhyun gave him a skeptical look.

“Don’t you dare hide anything from me. I’m your mother damn it!”

“Does this mean I’m the father?” Chen winks.

“Unfortunately. You’re like that drunk mistake everyone regrets in life. You know you’re not my type. I like tall boys.”

Chen pouted “So rude. I’m everyone’s type.”

Kyungsoo and Baekhyun giggled at their friend’s stupid antics.

Kyungsoo waved his friends goodbye as he headed off the campus grounds. They had to stay behind for detention. Apparently they skipped four classes when they were trying to find Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo didn’t get into any trouble after lying about being sick this morning. He held his backpack straps tightly. He wished Jongin were here, he wouldn’t be so scared if he was. Kyungsoo stopped in his tracks when he realized what he just thought about. His nose twitched in frustration. He just met the beautiful boy today yet he’s constantly thinking about him.

“Kyungsoo!” The bunny jumped in shock when he heard his name and fell to the ground.

It was Jongin. Kyungsoo felt his heart flutter a bit and his nose started twitching uncontrollably. He had to be nervous, his nose only twitches this badly when he’s nervous.

“Sorry little bunny! I got so excited when I saw you I called out immediately!”

“N-no! It’s ok! I just get scared really easily…”

“You’re so cute!” Jongin ruffled Kyungsoo’s hair playfully. “I have an idea! Lets go to the local cafe!”

“Oh, I don’t have any money on me right now though.”

“That’s okay! I was going to pay for you anyways!” Jongin grabbed Kyungsoo’s hand and began pulling him towards the school gate.

Kyungsoo eyes widened as a large slice of carrot cake was put in front of him along with a cup of hot cocoa.

“That’s not cliche or offensive right?” Jongin asked worriedly.

“No! I love carrots and sweets!” Kyungsoo couldn’t hold back the large smile that appeared on his face.

“So, are you the only bunny hybrid at school?” Jongin asked after taking a sip of his hot cocoa.

Kyungsoo nodded. “I tend to be put in separate classes because of that.”

Jongin was shocked and asked as to why that was needed.

“A lot of the other hybrids are stronger, wiser, faster, or more feral depending on what animal they are. I just so happen to be gifted with being skittish, fast, and weak. I only get to go to gym class when we are running laps or jumping hurdles. They exclude me from everything else in case I get injured.”

Jongin nodded his head in understanding as he took another sip from his mug. He could honestly stare at this boy all day. He was tiny and pale, his nose would twitch in the most adorable way. His ears were tall and white, one was a little bent compared to the other, and his adorable puffy tail that sat on his behind made Jongin want to pull the boy into a tight hug and cuddle him for the rest of his life.

“I’m surprised you don’t hate me.” Kyungsoo muttered.

“Why would I hate you? I’m pretty sure it’s impossible for someone to hate you.” Jongin smiled softly, he was suddenly feeling sad for the tiny bunny.

“A lot of people don’t like hybrids. They think we are freaks and call us disgusting.” Kyungsoo fiddled with his fingers and casted his eyes down. “Honestly, I’ve never really trusted a human. Well, until now of course.”

Jongin’s heart swelled and he couldn’t help but stand up and pull Kyungsoo into a tight hug. The boy was lifted off his feet and he instinctively wrapped his arms around the other’s neck. The clingy Jongin himself began to blush at his actions. He pulled the boy in closer, if that was even possible.

“Kyungie you’re the most adorable thing to ever exist in this world.”

“Kyungie?”

“Ah, sorry. It felt right.”

“No! I like it….Jonginnie.”

The little bunny was once again pulled into a hug, he could really get use to this and the scent that surrounded him every time it happened.

Kyungsoo and Jongin had gotten really close in the past couple of months. They hung out everyday and cuddling usually ensued. Jongin always showered Kyungsoo with praises and hugs, people would have thought they were dating. Recently though, Kyungsoo had been feeling strange. He was becoming more clingy and the butterflies were even worse than usual. All he wanted was to hear Jongin’s voice and see his face and kiss his beautiful lips. Wait...he didn’t mean that, or maybe he did. He wasn’t quite sure himself. He had to go to Chen and Baekhyun for advice, and he wasn’t sure if that was a good idea or not.

“What do you mean I want him to be my mate!?”

“Your instincts are telling you the truth you keep denying.” Baekhyun stated.

“Does that mean I have to do the do?”

“Do the do? Oh! You mean !” Kyungsoo hopped across the bed and covered Baekhyun’s loud mouth.”

“No of course not! Well, not yet at least.” Chen winked.

“You can claim your mate with just your scent, then again I think your human mate will have to claim you. You’re totally a bottom.”  Baekhyun smirked before getting hit by Kyungsoo.

“Take that!” The bunny shouted triumphantly.

“Dude, your punches never hurt. You punch like a marshmallow, and not even a jumbo marshmallow. You punch like a mini marshmallow.”

“I do not!” Chen proceeded to punch him in the arm.”Ow! What was that for!?”

“I’m showing you how to truly punch.” Chen flexed his arms. “I work out man.”

Kyungsoo shoved his face deeper into the crook of Jongin’s neck and let out a soft breath that sent shivers up Jongin’s spine. Jongin tightened his hold on the little bunny.

“Hey, I was wondering. My friends and I are going to have a little get together in my dorm. Would you want to come? I know you’re not always comfortable with humans, but I can promise they’ll all treat you kindly. Besides, if anyone messed with you I’d beat them up.”

“Would it be okay if I brought two of my friends?” Kyungsoo stared up with the large, sparkly eyes that always hypnotized Jongin.

“Of course you can! Any friend of yours is a friend of mine.”

Kyungsoo wrapped his arms around Jongin’s neck tightly and nuzzled his cheek against Jongin’s as he muttered multiple versions of thanks into his ear. Jongin’s face lit up up red as the boy continued his skin contact. At first Kyungsoo was just his new friend that was extremely cute, but now Jongin had developed feelings for him that he wasn’t expecting.

Chen and Baekhyun agreed to go to the party in an instant. Neither of them would miss a party, even if it was mainly populated by humans. Kyungsoo happily went to his closet and evaluated everything inside. This would be the first time Jongin would see him without a uniform, he wanted to make sure he looked hot as hell. He jumped when he felt two arms slide across his shoulders. He rapidly looked back and forth between his two friends who had mischievous smirks on their faces.

“What are you two up to?” Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes and twitched his nose.

“Lover boy is going to be there isn’t he?” Baekhyun hitched his eyebrow.

“Whose lover boy!?” Kyungsoo tried to hide his blushing cheeks.

“We know you have a crush on a human! Now, we get to find out who it is.” Chen teased.

Baekhyun went into Kyungsoo’s closet and began throwing all of his clothes around. Kyungsoo squeaked as he tried to catch all of the falling objects, Chen just laughed at the failed attempts.

“Baekhyun what are you doing to my closet?!”
“I’m helping you pick your outfit! I’m going to make you look so cute!”
“I want to look hot not cute!”

“You only ever look cute.” Chen added to the argument.

Kyungsoo pouted and stomped his foot. Both of his friends laughed and in unison pointed out the fact that they were correct. In turn, Kyungsoo continued to cutely pout whilst Chen joined Baekhyun in the search for the cutest outfit they could find. Kyungsoo informed the others that they were meeting Jongin and some of his other friends by the old gym behind the school so they could sneak them into the dorms.

Kyungsoo glared and rubbed his hands over his goosebump covered arms frantically. The idiots had him borrow a thin short sleeve t-shirt and wouldn’t let him bring a coat. He’s starting to think that his two idiots were playing a prank on him. Chen did say he had something exciting planned for tonight, that fact is starting to honestly worry him a lot. He starts to hear giggling and twigs snapping in the distance and starts to get really excited. Soon enough, Jongin and two other boys emerge from the tall hedge. One of them almost stood over it he was so tall. Kyungsoo ran up to Jongin and hugged him tightly, he seemed to be unable to control himself. He didn’t even care about his friends whistling in the background.

“So this is the little bunny!” The tall one’s booming voice caused Kyungsoo to flinch and run behind Jongin.

“Yeah, my little bunny. Keep your voice down!” Jongin bent down towards Kyungsoo and noticed he was only wearing a light t-shirt. “Aren’t you freezing!? Here take my jacket. I don’t want you to turn into a popsicle.”

Kyungsoo pulled the jacket around himself tightly, he couldn’t possibly become a popsicle with how hot his face was becoming. He caught Baekhyun’s smirk out of the corner of his eye. Kyungsoo finally realized why the boy made him dress the way he did. Jongin then introduced his friends as Chanyeol and Xiumin and informed the hybrids that their dorm wasn’t very far from where they were currently. Jongin was going to grab Kyungsoo’s hand and usher him towards their destination when Chen practically tackled the poor bunny to the ground and wrapped his arms around him and began dragging him towards Xiumin before telling the human to lead the way. Chen could feel the daggers that were Jongin’s eyes digging into the back of his head. He knew making the boy jealous would be amusing when he saw how overprotective he was. He had officially declared the couple his entertainment for the night in his mind and continued on.

The six boys arrived at a barn like house that was one floor, but had tall rafters one could hang from and lay across. Fairy lights were strung up everywhere posters of all different sports and musical artists were hanging on the walls. There were multiple bean bags and left over wrappers from food and other various snacks. Kyungsoo and the others were in complete shock they were expecting normal dormitories not this vast space. The curiosity overtook Kyungsoo and he asked Jongin why their dorm was so amazing. Jongin explained how the top students, who were currently Jongin, Chanyeol, Xiumin, and Sehun, get to stay in this nice dorm as a reward and to also make sure the other students don’t interrupt their studies. Jongin watched as Kyungsoo looked around the room in awe with a warm smile. The boy was absolutely precious no matter what he did. Jongin’s bright smile turned into a dark scowl once he saw Chen hanging all over Kyungsoo again. Kyungsoo was his bunny. He didn’t like Chen constantly touching them even if they were just friends. He quickly grabbed his good friend Xiumin whilst everyone else got tons of food prepared for their movie marathon.

“I need you to distract Chen.” Jongin begged.

“Which one is that again?” Xiumin glanced over his shoulder.

“The cat.”

“Oh hell no. You know I don’t like cats.”

“How can you not like them when you practically resemble one?”

“WHAT?!”

“Pleeeeeaaaasssseeee~~~” Jongin’s hands were grasped together tightly he was prepared to get down on his knees and beg in a second, he just wanted Kyungsoo all to himself. There’s nothing wrong with that. Right?

Finally, Xiumin agreed and went on his mission as they all sat on the various couches and bean bags.

“Horror!” Kyungsoo squeaked in fear as his face paled at the genre of movie.

“Yeah do you not like it?” Jongin asked with an innocent look on his face.

The boy knew all too well that Kyungsoo would most likely hate horror movies. The bunny jumped when the wind would graze his back. He stretched out his arms and put on the most beautiful smile he could muster.

“You can sit on my lap Kyungie! I’ll protect you throughout the movie!”

Kyungsoo blushed and nodded while all their friends moaned and gagged. Kyungsoo was honestly shocked by the nickname though. He actually really enjoyed having a nickname that only Jongin uses. He hesitantly climbed into the boy’s lap and tried to hide his furiously twitching nose. If it was only the two of them then he would have been sat in his lap from the start, but now all their friends were there to see.

The movie was absolutely horrible for Kyungsoo. It seemed like there was a jumpscare every second. He hid his face in Jongin’s chest and whimpered at the pain screams that were sounding through the speaker. As much as Jongin loved Kyungsoo cuddling into him for protection, he didn’t like how scared Kyungsoo looked. He didn’t think he would be that horrified of a movie. For a while he sat there covering Kyungsoo’s soft ears, hoping to block out the sounds. He looked around to see all his friends had passed out on top of each other, the movie must have been boring for them. He looked down to see that Kyungsoo was still shaking and he began to feel extremely guilty. He leaned down and uncovered one ear before whispering;

“It’s okay, I’ll get rid of all the ghosts.”

Jongin grabbed the remote and turned off the movie. He changed the input to tv and switched to a classical music channel and turned the volume so the music was gently dancing across the room. He pulled Kyungsoo closer to his chest, if that was even possible, and gently his hair.

“Don’t worry Kyungie, I’ll protect you. Just fall asleep, everything will be alright.”

Kyungsoo felt his eyelids getting heavier as he relaxed into Jongin’s warm, muscular embrace. He felt safe whenever he was with Jongin. He wished he could forever stay like this with him.

Kyungsoo and his roommates began making frequent visits to their new friends dorm. Chanyeol and Baekhyun said they fell in love with each other at first sight and the annoying duo has been lovey dovey ever since. Chen had become obsessed with Xiumin, the latter had also become quite addicted to Chen as well but he’d never admit it. Kyungsoo was about to knock on the door with the secret rhythm when he heard Jongin’s voice right in front of the door. He grasped Jongin’s jacket, which he let him keep, and was about to call out when he heard Sehun talking in a distressed tone.

“Those s were totally aiming at your face on purpose Jongin!”

“No they weren’t Sehun, calm it already.”

“You know they’re jealous of the fact that you’re number one in school and you’re ten times hotter than all of them.”

“Just let it go, if we approach them it’ll just make it worse.”

Kyungsoo, now deeply worried, quickly rapped on the door.

“That must be Chanyeol with the ice pa-” Sehun opened the door to a noticeably distressed Kyungsoo.

Sehun softly smiled and nodded his head for him to come in. Kyungsoo stepped inside and saw Jongin’s back facing him. Kyungsoo came up and hesitantly tapped his shoulder. Jongin just put out his hand expecting an ice pack, but instead another hand rested in his, one that was much smaller than his own.  Jongin’s eyes widened before he winced in pain and turned towards Kyungsoo. The bunny was quite shocked to see the dark bruise surrounding Jongin’s eye. Kyungsoo teared up and jumped onto Jongin, wrapping his arms around his waist.

“I’m okay Kyungie. It was just an accident.” Kyungsoo shook his head against Jongin’s chest. “Oh. You heard our conversation didn’t you.”

Kyungsoo nodded, his head still buried in the human’s chest. Jongin cupped Kyungsoo’s cheeks and lifted his face up to look at him. Kyungsoo’s watery eyes shimmered as he stared at Jongin with an extremely worried face. All of a sudden, a look of fury spread across his face. The little bunny hopped up and started stomping towards the door. Sehun grabbed Kyungsoo by the hood of his(Jongin’s) jacket and lifted him off the ground.

“And where do you think you’re heading off too so angrily?”

“I’m gonna kick the of whoever did this!” Kyungsoo punched the air and kicked his legs frantically.

“Ooooh so scary~” Sehun laughed and put the bunny back down next to Jongin. “I think staying next to Jongin is a better idea right now.”

Kyungsoo looked up at Jongin waiting for his approval of Sehun’s suggestion. Of course, Jongin agreed with his best friend. He grabbed Kyungsoo and pulled him onto his lap again and tightened his arms around him. Once he was in Jongin’s arm Kyungsoo didn’t want to leave, so he relaxed and decided to find out who it was later. He then remembered the new boy Tao in his class, he’s a panda hybrid and always boasts about his martial arts skills, the little bunny thinks it would be a great idea to learn from him so he can truly kick some butts.

Chen and Baekhyun watched in absolute disgust as Kyungsoo dipped a large carrot into a jar of nutella.

“Dude. That’s just nasty.” Chen looked away and covered his eyes.

“No it’s not! It’s good!” Kyungsoo yelled with a mouth full of food before coughing.

“Ya! Don’t talk with your mouth full! You’ll choke!” Baekhyun hit Kyungsoo’s back in case anything did happen to lodge itself in his throat.

Kyungsoo pouted and nibbled on his nutella carrots. His friends would never understand how amazing it tasted. Even if they decided that they wanted to give it a try he wouldn’t give them any out of revenge. Recently Kyungsoo had been loving life. He had new friends, he hadn’t seen his bullies in the longest time, and on top of all of that he had Jongin. Kyungsoo and his roommates headed out of the cafeteria and headed for the field behind the school. Today their gym class would be joining one of the human’s for a game of kickball. Kyungsoo would usually just go back to his dorm considering the fact that he just sits there and watches. He was only going in the hope of the class being Jongin’s. Once they got there and said hello to the teacher Kyungsoo began searching around for Jongin. Baekhyun had seen Chanyeol and ran to him as if on instinct. Xiumin was also here and currently being annoyed by Chen, but there wasn’t any signs of Jongin. Kyungsoo sighed and fiddled with the hem of his shirt. He really wanted it to be his favorite human’s class.

“Yo little bunny!” Sehun popped up out of nowhere shocking the poor boy.

“Oh hi Sehun-ah!” Kyungsoo became cheerful after realizing it was another human he was close to.

“Are you upset because your boyfriend isn’t here?”

“What!? What do you mean boyfriend! I don’t have a boyfriend!” Kyungsoo’s nose began twitching nervously.

“Don’t he was just about to leave the locker room last time I checked, he’ll be here soon.”

Kyungsoo would have jumped for joy if it wasn’t for the familiar voices he heard in the distance that sent chills down his spine. His face paled and he began to cling onto to Sehun’s side.

“Hey Soo, what’s wrong with you?” Sehun always sees Kyungsoo scared, but the boy looked as if the grim reaper had come for him.

Kyungsoo pointed to the group of boys that were huddled together in the corner of the field in the shade.

“That’s Eun Chul and his gang. They’re a bunch of pricks.” Sehun noticed Kyungsoo shudder at the name. “Soo...do you know them?”
Kyungsoo frantically nodded his head and tightened his hold on Sehun’s shirt. Sehun knelt down to Kyungsoo’s height and rested his hands on his shoulders.

“Did they do something to you?” Tears sprung to Kyungsoo’s eyes at the question.

Sehun squeezed Kyungsoo’s shoulder reassuringly. He was about to tell him that the boys probably wouldn’t even notice him when he heard Eun Chul’s annoying voice behind him.

“Oh look! Our favorite little bunny is here!” Sehun stood up and put his body in front of Kyungsoo’s “Oh Sehun, coming to protect a stupid hybrid? You truly are perfect aren’t you?”

“Shut up and go away Eun Chul.”

All of Eun Chul’s boys cornered Sehun and Kyungsoo against a tree. Two of the boys grabbed Sehun and began beating him relentlessly. Where was the teacher when you needed him? Eun Chul grabbed Kyungsoo by the ears and lifted him off the ground. Kyungsoo cried out in pain and squirmed around in the air.

“Now why would you provoke us? You know how easily I get angry.” Eun Chul’s evil smirk sickened Kyungsoo.

“What trouble are you people causing now.” Eun Chul turned towards the voice to see an exasperated Kim Jongin.

Jongin’s eyes grew as wide as saucers when he saw Sehun on the ground and Kyungsoo crying and flailing in the air.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing!?”

“You’re on this rabbit’s side? You really do surprise me Kai.”

“Don’t call me Kai. Put Kyungsoo down now.

“Fine.” Eun Chul shrugged and threw Kyungsoo to the ground pulling a loud, pained cry from the bunny.

Jongin ran over and pulled Kyungsoo into his arms before carrying him over to Sehun. He propped his best friend up on the tree and clutched a sobbing Kyungsoo to his chest. Eun Chul and his gang just waltzed away as if nothing happened. Jongin grinded his teeth together in anger. He was imagining twenty thousand different ways he could murder those bastards.

Kyungsoo kept giving Jongin a strange look, but every time Jongin would catch him staring Kyungsoo would squeak and quickly turn his head away.

“Is something wrong Kyungie?”

“Uh I’ve just been wondering something since last week…” Kyungsoo’s nose twitched in curiosity. “Why did Eun Chul call you Kai? Why did it make you so angry?”

Jongin tensed at the question. He wasn’t prepared for it at all.

“It’s nothing Kyungie! Let’s go to our favorite cafe! I heard they have nutella carrot cake~”

“Ok!” Kyungsoo grabbed Jongin’s hand and started pulling Jongin towards the cafe even though he was filling up with doubt. Jongin was clearly hiding something from him, but Kyungsoo didn’t feel that it was his place to dig too deep.

Mr.Zhang, Kyungsoo’s homeroom and chinese teacher, sat down in front of him and his roommates. He gave them each a cup of cocoa and smiled warmly. There was no doubt that Mr.Zhang was the most loved teacher in the entire school. He was also one of the most unique hybrids to ever exist, a unicorn.

“So, Kyungsoo, Chen here tells me you have a love interest~”

“WHAT!?” Kyungsoo spit his hot cocoa all over Baekhyun.

“GAAAH IT BURNS!!!”

Mr.Zhang quickly got napkins and wiped up the liquid on both the table and Baekhyun’s soaked arm.

“Why do you care about my love life?”

“Why wouldn’t I care about my favorite students love life? Especially when it’s with a human.”

“You literally told him everything.” Kyungsoo growled at Chen.

“What? I had to find some way to keep myself entertained during detention!” Chen crossed his arms with a grunt and pouted.

“I’m honestly shocked Kyungsoo, you used to be terrified of humans.”

“Well, they’re different.”

“You know his friends to?” Kyungsoo nodded. “I’m so proud of you Kyungsoo you’re truly becoming braver.”

Kyungsoo was always amazed by the unicorn’s kindness. He truly care about his students and treated them like they were his own kids. He was all for interspecies relationships. He was actually married to a human teacher from the school next door. They only know that his name is Suho, and Mr.Zhang always says he’s kind and caring but an idiot.

“What’s this boy’s name Kyungsoo?”

“Kim Jongin!”

Mr.Zhang froze right when he was about to drink his coffee and ending up spilling it down the entire front of his shirt.

“Kim Kai!?”

“Mr.Zhang, you also know that name? Jongin wouldn’t tell me why people call him that, but he seemed angry over the name.”

“Of course you got involved with a bad boy! Oh god our precious Kyungsoo!” Mr.Zhang dramatically flung his arms around.

“Bad boy? Jongin is super nice and he’s the top student in the entire school…”

“That’s physically impossible.” Mr.Zhang deadpanned.

“No it’s true, we’ve heard it and seen it first hand.” Baekhyun informed the confused teacher.

“That kid was the biggest troublemaker in that school the last time I heard Suho talk about him. That was last year though.”

“Exactly, he must’ve changed.” Kyungsoo glared.

“I’m not trying to talk badly about him Kyungsoo, it’s just the fact that people that get involved with that brat Eun Chul usually aren’t the best kids.”

“W-what do you mean involved with E-eun Chul?”

“He was apart of their gang, practically in charge of it honestly.”

Kyungsoo stood up in an instant and rushed out the door.

“Did I say something wrong?”
“You said everything you shouldn’t have.” Baekhyun smacked his face into his palm.

Kyungsoo was running at full speed towards Jongin’s dorm. He needed to talk to him immediately, he couldn’t believe Jongin was hiding something like this from him! He slammed the door open to find Sehun and Jongin throwing gummy bears at each other from across the room. They glanced over at the little bunny, who was clearly seething with anger, and dropped their family sized bag of gummies. Sehun started to slowly sneak away before bursting out of the room. Jongin jumped over his fort of various blankets and bean bag chairs and ran over to Kyungsoo.

“Hey Kyungie why’re you so upset?” He tried to place his hands on his shoulders but Kyungsoo flinched away. “...Kyungie….did I do something wrong?”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Jongin looked at the rabbit quizzically. “Why didn’t you tell me you used to be apart of Eun Chul’s gang!?”

“I...how did you find out?”

“Is that really what’s important?” Kyungsoo’s eyes began to fill with tears.

Jongin had seen Kyungsoo cry many times before, it seemed to be a hobby for the boy, but it had never been caused by him. Seeing Kyungsoo crying because of him ripped his heart apart. He wanted to hug him, but Kyungsoo backed away from him.

“Kyungsoo….that was all in the past. I’m trying to move on. That’s why I didn’t tell you. Please understand.”

“I get it but...I still feel like you couldn’t trust me. I wouldn’t have told anyone I promise!” Jongin finally realized what Kyungsoo was truly angry about. He didn’t care about his past, he cared about the fact that he didn’t share it with him.

“Kyungsoo,you know I trust you.”

“I’m going to go home for tonight, lets reschedule are cafe date for tomorrow, okay?” Kyungsoo gave him a weak smile before leaving.

Kyungsoo slowly closed the door and let out a long sigh, he wasn’t too angry, but he couldn’t help but get overworked and have painful anxiety over situations like this. It is in his genes after all. He just needed to go home and calm down for a bit. Kyungsoo began walking away when arms grabbed him from behind and lifted him into the air. He thought it was Jongin so he turned to apologize, but instead his ears dropped in fear.

“E-Eun Chul?”

Jongin waited impatiently for Kyungsoo, tapping his fingers rapidly on his mug. He kept checking his watch again and again. Kyungsoo was now thirty minutes late. Was he truly that mad? Jongin didn’t mean to make him so angry. He didn’t want to lose his little bunny, that boy meant the world to him. Three hours and five doughnuts later, Jongin figured that Kyungsoo wasn’t coming. He wrapped up the carrot cake doughnut he got for him and left. On his way back he pulled out his phone, trying to remember if he ever got either Baekhyun’s or Chen’s numbers. Luckily, he had the cat’s.

“Why’re are you calling me?” Chen stated blandly, clearly eating something on the other line.

“Can you not chew in my ear? I was wondering if Kyungsoo was home, he hasn’t answered his phone all day.”

“Kyungsoo is supposed to be with you.”

“What…”

“He ran to your place yesterday and we figured he stayed with you.”

“No..no he left.”

“Wait does that mean Kyungsoo has been missing since yesterday afternoon!?”

Jongin could hear Baekhyun screaming “What the did you just say?! WHERE’S MY BABY!?” in the background.

“Jongin you start looking for him, Baekhyun and I will also head out.”

Jongin agreed and hung up before running back towards his place, hopefully Kyungsoo left some trace of where he was going. Halfway there Jongin ran full force into someone heading the same direction in an even faster pace. It was Sehun. He frantically stood up and helped Sehun up as well, he looked horrified. Sehun then handed Jongin a note with shaky hands.

We still have some unfinished business that you continue to ignore. The only way to get your attention was to kidnap your little bunny. Better hurry up, he’s pissing me off already, you know I can’t control my anger. I can’t help it if I just lash out and beat him. See you soon Kim Kai

                                                         Eun Chul

Jongin crumpled the note and threw it to the ground with a shout. He should have known that was up to something.

“Jongin-ah!” Jongin glanced up at Sehun. “How are you going to find him? The didn’t even write where he was!”

“I know exactly where he is.”

Jongin kicked the door open and immediately screamed for Eun Chul to face him. Eun Chul walked out slowly, but proudly, dragging a whimpering bunny by its ears. Jongin called out to Kyungsoo and was about to run to him when Eun Chul raised his hand.

“Not so fast lover boy.” Jongin glared at the bastard. “If you want this bunny back unharmed, then I suggest you listen to what we want.”

“We?” Jongin’s eyes widened as five other guys came from multiple corners of the large abandoned warehouse. “What do you want.”

“What we want is quite simple honestly, we just want to let out some anger. Exact our revenge.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“You used to be one of us Kai! You abandoned us for that group of stuck up s.”

“First, my friends are not s and don’t you dare say another word about them. Second, don’t call me Kai.”

“Kai was your name when you were with us.”

“I left Kai behind. I don’t want to be like you anymore! I want to help people, not hurt them! I want to be successful in life! I don’t want to be a bum like you! Now give Kyungsoo to me before I get even angrier!”

“I will. If you let us beat the out of you instead.”

“What the is wrong with you!?” Eun Chul lifted Kyungsoo in the air and harshly squeezed his sensitive ears causing the poor boy to yelp. “Fine! Do whatever you want to me! Just stop hurting him!”

“You heard him guys,” Eun Chul smirked. “Hit him until he’s unrecognizable.”

Kyungsoo began to sob a river as he watched Jongin get thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched in the face and kicked all over. Jongin was trying to hold back his screams, but Kyungsoo could see in his eyes just how much pain he was in.

“STOP IT! LEAVE HIM ALONE! PLEASE STOP HURTING HIM!” Kyungsoo cried out, but he was just laughed at by the devilish boy that held him up.

Kyungsoo realized that he would have to fight his genes. He would have to be brave and strong if he wanted to help Jongin. He could no longer be a coward and hide in the corner waiting for someone to save him. Kyungsoo took a deep breath before ramming his feet into Eun Chul’s side. A good thing that went along with Kyungsoo’s rabbit genes was his powerful legs. He usually made use of them by running, but today it would be fighting. Eun Chul tried to grab at Kyungsoo again, but the boy bit Eun Chul’s hand until it was bleeding. Once he fell to the ground clutching his hand, Kyungsoo ran over to assist Jongin. He was about to bite one of the boy’s legs when he noticed one raising a block of plywood in the air above Jongin’s head. Kyungsoo dashed over and threw his body on Jongin’s resulting in him getting hit instead. Jongin watched as Kyungsoo fell lifelessly in front of him. Jongin grabbed Kyungsoo weakly and held him close to his chest as he began to cry. The last thing he wanted was for Kyungsoo to get hurt. He glared at all the boys who were taken aback but what they just witnessed. Today, and just for today, Jongin would bring back the fearful Kim Kai. Those bastards needed to pay.

Kyungsoo groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. He glanced rapidly around the unfamiliar room, but settled down when he saw all of his friends there.

“OUR BABY!!!” Chen and Baekhyun screamed in unison as they ran over towards Kyungsoo.

“Thank goodness you’re awake.” Sehun smiled at him.

“We were getting extremely worried man!” Chanyeol’s brows furrowed as he expressed his feelings.

Everyone kept chattering, constantly asking how he felt. Jongin though, sat silently on the seat by the hospital bed, unable to look in Kyungsoo’s direction. Kyungsoo looked at all his friends with eyes that clearly read “leave us alone” and they all quickly understood and left the room. Well except for Chanyeol, Baekhyun had to drag him out while saying he would explain outside.

“Jongin.” No reply. “Jongin-ah look at me. Please?”

“I’m so sorry.” Jongin’s voice shook, eyes still staring at the floor. “This is all my fault. I understand if you never want to see me again.”

“Don’t be an idiot!” Jongin’s head shot up in shock. He stared at Kyungsoo with tear- filled eyes. “Look at you! Now you’re the one that’s crying. I love you. Every part of you! Your past doesn’t matter to me!”

Kyungsoo took Jongin’s face in his hand and placed their foreheads against each other, he stared at Jongin intently, causing said boy to start laughing.

“Really?” Jongin questioned.

“Really.”

“So...you do love me then? I wasn’t expecting a confession like this!”

“W-What!? OH MY GOD!” Kyungsoo’s face turned extremely red. “I uhm.. Well you know how people...uhm..how do I explain!?”

Jongin leaned in and gently kissed Kyungsoo’s plush lips.

“I love you too.”

I honestly don't know why I always have the urge to write Kyungsoo biting someone as a form of self-defense -.-....Well, I hope you enjoyed this one shot! I really wanted to write bunny soo!! Please comment and let me know what you think!!
