after prom
seokjin doesn't remember how it lead to this.
the farthest he can recall is being inside the venue, yelling from one end of the room to another in tenacious attempt to convey his (questionable) parental concern amidst the obnoxiously loud music and patent . the next thing he knows, he's standing adjacent to yoongi plopped on the sidewalk, looking like he lost his last sliver of will to exist (it's out there somewhere, anywhere, just not in him) and in the middle of wherever the prom committee thought would be the best place to let potentially drunk kids lurk about.
so maybe he isn't the most responsible guy out there. or the most conscious of his surroundings and friends' whereabouts. or, at least, had the decency to stop hoseok from discovering the wonders of underaged drinking, but that shouldn't warrant him this kind of situation, right? a situation where jeongguk suddenly develops an aversion for mother nature and namjoon nearly loses it as he shoves his phone on everyone's faces, pointing at the lurid red empty battery sign offensively blinking back at them.
“ah, ,” says seokjin as he collapses on his knees and starts weeping because, of course, the smartest thing to do in a state of panic and disorder is to project your discomfort by activating your lacrimal gland.
“what's wrong, hyung?” asks jimin, uneasy about the troubled expression on seokjin's face (and the girl fidgeting a meter away from him, but that's another story). it's a stupid question, taehyung thinks, because everything is wrong jimin, get with the times. but he only registers the severity of the situation when seokjin gets up from his knees and pulls out his phone, only for the rest to know oh yeah ! we are ed with the no signal sign perched on the upper corner of his screen, font big and taunting enough for taehyung to fall on his and mutter to himself, oh. “we’re lost, aren’t we,” says one of the girls, the littlest bit cautious about addressing the situation.
“if by lost, you meant left to rot in the middle of anti-civilization as we’re left with no choice but to wait for imminent death to come and take our failure of lives, then yes. yes we are.”
(to say so the least, none of them will be home by two)
