You fidgeted in your seat, the tense atmosphere was slowly suffocating you. You and Jessica were in the kitchen, eating breakfast. The older female was sitting directly across from you, making you even more nervous. Your parents were going away for the weekend and wanted the two of you to watch your younger brother. He ended up bringing over his friends and stayed up all night playing video games. You figured Jessica's coldness was due to last night's event but you wanted to be sure.

You took in a breathe of air and looked up into her eyes. "Sica, baby?" 

The female let out a sigh and looked up into your eyes, her face void of any emotion. "Yes?"

"A-Are you okay?" you stuttered out. 

"Fine." 

"A-Ah, okay," you said meekily and went back to playing with your food. 

You still felt her piercing eyes staring at you. Just when you were about to ask her if she needed anything, your brother and his friends had emerged from his room. 

"Hey, _____. My friends and I are gonna go to the park, okay?" your brother said to you. 

"Isn't it a bit too early to go out?" you asked. 

He shrugged in response and smiled at you. "Eh, whatever." 

You rolled your eyes playfully at him and allowed them to leave, making them promise to behave. Your attention returned to Jessica who had managed to leave the kitchen without you noticing. You looked around the area and sighed, cleaning up before setting out to find her.
