THE DAY

“Is that it?” she asked, voice croaked and eyes teary, ignoring the slight crack of her voice as she asked those three words.

He, standing right in front of her, looking at her in the eyes, can’t accept the fact that the tears streaming down her face is because of him.

“I’m so sorry.” he said softly, letting out a sigh as he said those three words. Simple, short, three words that changes nothing, but it’s the only thing he can come up with. He’s too numb by the sight in front of him.

“I know you’re mad but,“

She takes a step back right as he was taking a step forward, reaching onto her.

By then, he knew it was a dead end.

“I messed up, I know. Just hear me out–"

She looked at him with complete bitterness, but he can still see the same tenderness she had in her eyes whenever he looks at him. He knew none of her feelings have changed for him. And this is the problem.

“You think you messed up? That’s it? You did so much more than that.”

He lets out a long sigh. “I know, I know I messed up big time. I just–“

“Do you want to know what you actually did? You got me spilling everything that I have held in me because you made me believe that you were someone I can trust, that you actually cared about me. But it’s all lies, I was just too selfish and oblivious to think so.

“You, had me at my most vulnerable and you broke me. But you want to know what hurts most? The fact that you were completely aware at the fact that what you were doing would hurt me. And somehow... that didn't stop you."

“Areum…” he calls, dumbfounded by what she said, because he knew that it was true. Everything that she said was true.

“I just wish you the very best, and I hope you, and everyone else who was behind all of this, are happy that you’ve broke me, Junhoe.”
