Feeling Alive
Healing the SoulEnding up baby-sitting a spoilt celebrity had never been on Dara’s bucket-list but somehow she ended up doing exactly that. That guy, despite being near his thirties, knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, including as simple a task as hammering a nail.
For the life of her, she didn’t know why she was stuck being his supervisor, or why Mr. Choi Seunghyun – otherwise known as T.O.P of Korea’s biggest idol group (what a silly name) – chose MinHo’s NGO to volunteer with, or even why he chose to do community service. It was not like he looked enthusiastic or even slightly interested in any task assigned to him; he would take breaks every ten minutes and scroll through his smart phone. It also became clear to everyone that he had no intentions of trying to be friendly with them. During lunch breaks, he would stand by himself, silently eating his food, while the others joked and talked. When they tried to draw him into their conversation, he would reply in one word and then walk away. Of course, everyone gave up trying to talk to him on the third day but Dara, being his supervisor, still tried.
“Seunghyun-sshi, you should try talking to the others someday, you know,” Dara said to him.
They were working on the wardrobes in the master bedroom – installing drawers and creating sections. It was the fourth day of Seunghyun as a volunteer.
“And I thought I was here to slog hard,” he replied.
Startled at him quoting her back, Dara turned towards him. She was immediately arrested by those deep eyes – those eyes had been doing strange things to her stomach for a while now. Ugh, I hate those eyes. Eyes, stop making my stomach flip and flip and stumble and tumble.
“Yes, but that doesn’t mean you should lock yourself away with your work. Being social won’t kill you,” Dara managed to reply back. Stomach, stop it. Be still.
“I think being social with you is more than enough,” he replied, his voice deep and low.
Her stomach went into frenzy and she couldn’t help but shiver. It would be amazing to wake up to that voice whispering in my head, her mind suddenly spoke to her.
Wait, what? What am I even thinking?
Shaking her head to make those absurd thoughts disappear, Dara went back to installing the chest of drawers. However, she couldn’t stop thinking about her reaction to Seunghyun. She knew that she wasn’t immune to his gorgeous looks, especially his eyes. Now, his voice was making her body react to it. But she also knew that even if she felt attracted towards him (IF! It’s not like I AM attracted to him huh), she would run as far away from him as possible. She didn’t want to have anything to do with the world of celebrities and fame...again. Once had been enough and she didn’t think she was emotionally capable of handling the baggage that came with the association to such a world.
So lost was she in her thoughts that she accidentally hit her thumb with the hammer while driving in a nail. Pain shot through her thumb and up her arms. Letting out loud yelp, she held her thumb with her other hand.
“FUUUUUUUUUUU–“
“Here, let me see to it,” his deep voice spoke right in her ears. Seunghyun cradled her thumb in his large hands and bent down to examine it. Dara couldn’t help but notice that despite the size of his hands, his hands were extremely gentle and tender while
