Hot Chocolate & Churros Pt. 2
Eunhae Tales | Winter EditionHyukjae bobbed his head cutely from behind his scarf, and he looked like a cute little penguin. A penguin that Donghae wanted to take up and snuggle his nose against.
“Two hot chocolates with whipped cream and marshmallows, please.” Donghae ordered.
He placed a steaming mug of hot chocolately heaven in Hyukjae’s hands.
“Warmer now?” Donghae asked.
Hyukjae bobbed his head again. He pulled down the maroon cashmere to drink from the beverage and hummed in satisfaction as he swallowed the creamy chocolate.
“Yours is still better though.” Hyukjae commented, plucking a marshmallow nonchalantly and placing it on his tongue.
“Yeah? I’ll make some for you when we get home.” Donghae quickly said, knowing that he had a lot of making up to do for letting Hyukjae wait. He gulped down his own hot chocolate since he had gotten all thirsty after all that running.
Hyukjae burst into a peal of laughter.
“You’ve got a chocolate mustache now.” Hyukjae replied to Donghae’s quizzical look, made even more comical with the thin line of chocolate foam above his lip.
“Really?” Donghae darted out his tongue upwards to at the trail of chocolate foam.
“I’ll get a chocolate mustache more often if I get to hear that,” Donghae said.
“Hmm?” Hyukjae raised an eyebrow as he sipped at his hot chocolate.
“Your laughter.”
Hyukjae almost spit out the hot chocolate in his mouth. Since when did Lee Donghae become so cheesy?
“If you want to make it up to me, there’s a store selling churros right there.” Hyukjae angled his chin at a nearby churros stall.
“Churros with cinnamon and sugar coming up!” Donghae beamed as he sprinted off in that direction.
Donghae couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he watched the churros man fry the dough and then coat the pieces with cinnamon and sugar. Hyukjae especially loved cinnamon treats in winter because the spiciness helped to keep him warm. He returned holding a paper cone filled with churros sticks in his hand. He picked out a churros stick and held it in front of Hyukjae’s lips. He gestured for Hyukjae not to bite it just yet. Then, he placed the other end between his own lips, as though they were playing the Pepero game.
“Look Mummy, they’re acting out the spaghetti scene in Lady & Tramp. Does that mean they are going to kiss?”
Both of them sputtered and bit down on the churros stick simultaneously, causing the middle bit to fall to the ground. Fortunately, Donghae had fast reflexes and knelt down on one knee, catching the middle bit in the paper cone.
“Mummy, is that man going to propose right now? He’s going down on one knee.”
Hyukjae’s cheeks were already slightly pink from the cold, but after the little girl’s comment, his cheeks turned into a bright shade of tomato red.
Donghae whipped his head to look at the outspoken girl, who was currently being hushed by her mother. The mother sent several apologetic looks in Donghae’s way and dragged her daughter in the opposite direction.
“Well, your cheeks are definitely warm now.” Donghae grinned as he stood up from his awkward kneeling position.
Hyukjae pushed Donghae’s arm playfully and stole a churros stick from the paper cone.
“Let’s go see the other stalls,” Hyukjae said cheerily, linking his arm naturally through Donghae’s, and skipped happily.
