Sixteen
Breaking UpDonghae buried his face into the crook of Hyukjae’s neck, holding in his tears. Hyukjae grunted and gently hoisted the younger further up his back and continued walking home. Earlier, Donghae had somehow lost his footing while descending the stairs and tumbled down the last few steps in school. He ended up spraining his ankle and couldn’t walk at all.
Hyukjae wanted to carry Donghae in his arms; his boyfriend was injured after all, but Donghae refused to be carried because he was already a 16 year-old ‘man’ and being carried meant he was ‘girlish’. In the end Hyukjae piggybacked the younger all the way home despite mild protests from the stubborn Donghae who insisted he could still walk.
“How’s the pain?” Hyukjae asked, setting Donghae down comfortably in his bed. “I’ll go get some ice from the fridge. Stay put, okay?”
Donghae bit his lips when Hyukjae pressed the cold ice onto his throbbing swollen ankle. Hyukjae was so focused on Donghae’s injury that he never realized the younger’s love struck eyes on him the entire time. He whimpered softly when Hyukjae pressed the ice a little too hard against his ankle.
“Sorry, baby. I’ll bandage up your foot. It should help ease the pain,” Hyukjae said in a serious tone, placing the bag of half-melted ice on a towel and grabbing the bandages. “Hold still.”
