Late again. As always.

Jinyoung felt extremely guilty this time, he did promise his sister 27 times that he would wake up early today, and be at the church at 8 A.M or even earlier.

She was probably mad, it was her wedding after all, and he was the Best man, even if he felt as the worst person alive at the moment.

He checked his phone as soon as he entered the train, just to see the time, as he not dared to open his messages and suffer his sister wrath.

9:07 A.M Great. You are just great, Park Jinyoung. Thought the boy sourly.

Trying to catch his breath, the boy looked at himself in the reflection on the train mirror. All that running made his sapphire blue tie to almost get undone, and he was starting to sweat all over his new white shirt. Still trying to calm himself down, he let out a heavy sigh as he tried to look more decent, just so his sister wouldn’t have another reason to be mad at him.

While looking at the glass, he saw the boy from earlier running towards him.

Maybe he comes looking for me. His own thought amused him, and put a small smiled on his face.

“I made it!” The handsome boy shouted as he collapsed in front of him, just as the doors closed.

“Looks like I’m not the only one running late today”

Jinyoung suddenly felt a pair of surprised eyes watching him. Did I say that out loud?

He cleared his throat, avoiding those eyes, and put on his earphones again. He quickly shuffle throught his music, until he found the playlist he wanted and press play.

He let the sound of the music box version of his favourite videogame theme song surround him, as he closed his eyes.

He could feel the presence of the other boy in front of him, and how those beautiful dark eyes where fixated on him, even if he didn’t dared to open his own.

 He then felt someone sitting to his left, and he knew it was that boy. He could feel their arms brushing against each other with every movement of the train, and the warm coming from the other’s body.

Well, both of us came running, so I guess that’s why he seems so warm too

A little ashamed after what he said, Jinyoung opened his eyes slowly, only to find that the boy had his own eyes closed now, and his earphones on.

What could he be listening to? He seems so...anxious.

He wondered what could make this boy look so worried. He had one leg crossed, and his hands between his legs, and was playing with his fingers absentmindendly while he shaked his foot.

He looks too young to be that stressed out. On the other hand, the boy looked almost his age, and there he was, stressed as he can be, so he could not judge.

Jinyoung then proceed to look away from the boy sitting beside him, and began inspecting the rest of the wagon. They were completely alone.

Why did you feel the need to intrude my personal space? Not that I’m complaining.

Even if he tried to avoid any eye contact, Jinyoung couldn’t resist the urge to inspect the stranger sitting beside him.

It was true that the boy looked anxious, but he also looked excited, with a cute little smile grazing his lips, which kept transforming into strange shapes with every change in the rhythm of the song, or so Jinyoung supposed.

And he was handsome. Jinyoung couldn’t help but to admire the boy’s face, his sharp jawline, and the perfectly shaped muscles of his arm. He purposely brushed his arm against the other again, out of curiosity, just to make sure they were as strong as they look.

He started to feel a little weird, checking out this stranger on the metro, but he just blamed it on his hormones and the fact that he has been single for 11 months already, since his ex broke with him and went back to Hong Kong. Neither of them believed in long distance relationships, so even if it was difficult at first, Jinyoung knew it was for the best.

But nobody warned me I would spend the rest of my days being a mess

He tried to focus on something else, so he closed his eyes and started humming along to the theme song of Steven universe, but If was futile, he just wanted to keep looking at the stranger, and maybe even talk to him. Anyway, judging by the way he looked at him earlier, the boy was just as interested as him, and Jiyoung was not a shy person.

Gathering his courage, he took a deep breath and opened his eyes, getting ready to say hello. But he didn’t expect to see those eyes again, looking at him as if he was some kind of god.

“Uhm...Hi?” Well, that was smooth Jinyoung.

But his nervousness was washed away by the big smile the boy gave him in return.

“Hello! What were you singing?” Said the stranger way too excited.

So he was listening?

“Oh well...It’s just a song from a TV show...It sounds silly I know” And he couldn’t help but to laugh a little.

Jinyoung was not a shy person, but this guy was so close to him that he felt a little overwhelmed.

“Yes! I know it! It’s my favourite!” The guy seemed overjoyed

I guess not many people our age watch those shows, maybe he is just glad someone share his hobby.

“So...Who’s your favourite character?”

Jinyoung was a little taken aback by the question, and the stranger probably felt it too, because he kept talking, now with a more concerned look on his face.

“Sorry, I just got excited...I won’t bother you anymore...My name is Jaebum by the way” Said Jaebum sheepishly, with a smile on his face.

“No it’s okay, really!...My name is Jinyoung, nice to meet you” He said as he waited for the other to shake his hand.

Just as they finished introducing each other, they arrive at his stop, which made him jump out of his seat. Jaebum stood up with him.

“Sorry..this is my stop..” He started, but was cut off by the other boy.

“Don’t worry! This is my stop too” Said Jaebum, smiling even widely as he dragged them both out.

Once they were out, both started walking side by side, in complete silence.

Jinyoung just couldn’t take the silence, and kept thinking of anything cool to say, so he could impress the boy beside him.

“Ruby”

“Uh?”

Well Jinyoung, you are on fire today...

“Ruby is my favourite character...I just like people with a lot of passion, and Ruby is kinda like that I guess...”

He didn’t know why, but the way Jaebum laughed at what he said made him feel warm instead of ashamed.

“I always loved the way Ruby and Sapphire love each other” Said Jaebum when he finished laughing.

“So Jinyoung... I’m busy today, but would you like to have a debate about Steven universe with me another day? We could even talk about other shows if you like, or music or...” The boy trailed off, blushing.

“I would love to”

And with that, Jaebum quickly took out a pen and a piece of paper from his backpack and wrote something on it, before handing it to Jiyoung and running away with a simple See you soon!

As soon as he wrote the note, Jinyoung knew he´ll be calling Jaebum as soon as the wedding is over, if he survives the wrath of his sister.
