Chapter 5
It's my faultRyosuke's pov
Resting, I heard my phone ring. Glancing at it, I saw that it was my mother. Knowing why she was calling, I tried ignoring it. But something in me just couldn't take it and I found myself answering.
'Ryosuke, Mirai has woken up,'she told me. Digesting that, I took a while to answer.
'Alright. Is that all?'I responded coolly.
'She wants to see you.'
"Why?" That flustered her.
"Ryosuke, you promised me you'd see her once she woke up."
"She doesn't need me anymore. She told me that. Why would she want to awe me now?"I told her, feeling a mixture of sadness and anger, feeling like going and not going.
Mirai's pov
It was late. My mother was sitting beside me.
"Mom, he's not coming,"I said sadly.
"Don't worry, Mirai. He'll come,"she said, trying to reassure me. But I knew differently.
"I think he won't. Because of those words-"
"Mirai, Ryosuke is your husband. And this happens between couples. It won't affect your relationship."
"What relationship are you talking about? There's nothing between us, apart from the babies and a piece of paper that had to be forged. And why? Because he couldn't be bothered to attend his own wedding!"I sobbed, tears streaming down my cheeks. My shoulders shook from the force of my sobs. I leaned into my mother when she wrapped her arm around me.
'Mirai, calm down. It's not good for your health,'she advised but I heard the worry beneath it.
'Mom, I'm disillusioned. He doesn't care for my babies but I lost my honor. And I still love him,'I finished softly.
---
Laying in bed and staring at the ceiling, I recalled the day he looked to the papers:
Ryosuke and I were in the living room, surrounded by papers.
"It's all over with as little pain as possible for you,"Ryosuke said.
"But this is false, Ryosuke. Maybe this is not for the best,"it said, trailing off as I looked at the marriage certificate before me.
