I sat beside Mirai throughout the night. I was afraid for her. She looked pale and tired. Her body was hooked up to all the machines and drips. Because of the birth. I am the cause of that, of putting her in this state. Of making her give birth prematurely.

My pie suddenly rang. Looking at it , I saw that it was Yuto. Dang. I forgot the rehearsal again. But,  as I looked at Mirai, I decided to ignore it.

When I woke up the next morning, still groggy from sleep, I answered my ringing phone.

"Yama-chan, where are you? Why didn't you answer yesterday? We were worried,"Yuto told me in a rush. Sitting up in the chair beside 

Mirai, my mind scrambled to find a suitable response. 

'Ah, I'm sorry,'I responded.

'You have to come down today. We need you. We can't finish the set without you,'Yuto told me, sounding quite desperate at the end.

I was silent. My mind was busy considering all that was going on in my life. There was Mirai to think about. Then there was the rehearsal; we had a concert in two days. I have been neglecting my work. But what about Mirai? 

If I stayed, it would be easier to face her. Of course, if I didn't go to the rehearsal, the members would be asking for the reason I didn't go yesterday. So I'd have to come up with an excuse.

After much thought, I decided to go for the rehearsal.

'What about Mirai?'my mother asked.

"I'm sorry, mom. The other members are waiting,'I told her. I could see she wanted to argue but couldn't. 

"Fine but if Mirai wakes up, you'll come and apologise,'she advised. I just looked at he
