He enters the cafe, ducking his head and manoeuvring his way to the very back, swiftly placing an order for a caramel macchiato. When the drink arrives not five minutes after - he takes a tentative sip. It’s too sweet - exactly something she would order. Well, he thinks to himself, It had been her favourite drink. Not his, though. He’d always preferred americanos. The strong, bitter caffeinated drink the perfect hit he’d need to start his day. 

Maybe that’s why they didn’t work out. She’d always been too sweet, too nice, too pure…and he…wasn’t.
