Is there something you wish you saw more of in Kpop fanfics?

Whether it's something you rarely see or maybe something that you wish got represented/presented better?

@KissTheDream I'll send you a pm, I have too many, haha. ^^ I don't know what kind of fics you find a lot online, but I'll send you a few of my faves~ Genderswitch or lgbtq+ spectrum. uwu

@MissMinew Hmm, I guess what I meant by stereotypical was something along the lines of "the kind of fics you find a lot online" (which wasn't very accurate, I know xD) Honestly I've never read genderswitch (at least as far as I can remember, and my memory is absolutely terrible > . <) but I definitely want to give it a shot. (I guess it would also depend on how the story is written, of course :O) Feel free to recommend me any genderswitch Shinee stories if you have some you find interesting ^^

@KissTheDream I suppose that depends on what you define as stereotypical but if you're openminded to genderswitch (especially SHINee) there's a whole new world to explore. ^_^

@MissMinew Shinee fics that aren't stereotypical? Obviously, I need that in my life. Thanks for the tip - that's something I definitely want to look up. ^^ :3

@KissTheDream I read a lot of SHINee and I've found quite a lot of fics from the spectrum (not only aro/ace but...) which is probably why I've grown to love it so much and why I wish to see more of it. ^_^

@MissMinew Yup, I don't read that much BTS either, but I felt this one was witty and well-written. I sure hope more aro/ace fics pop up from other fandoms too.

more like male oc with male idol.. o.O like come on~ if you can make female oc with female idol, why not the opposite? and I don't understand why people are so against it.. .-.
and also more fantasy.. like sword and magic genre in somewhere land.. it would be fantastic if it has a plot that stay from the start to the end.. o.O

More OT5/OT6/OT7/OTwhatever stuff. Meaning, more stories about the group without there necessarily being a romantic pairing involved. Just the members having fun and adventures sounds great. I've seen a few stories like this but I'd like to see more.
Also, I like intricate plots, thrillers, sci-fi and horror. I'd definitely like to see more of that. (Especially with bands like B.A.P or Vixx - come on people, they were MADE for that stuff!)
Finally, some kpop x anime crossovers? I have barely seen any, and it really surprises me, since I felt that many kpop fans are current/former anime fans. I wonder why there aren't a lot of fics that use anime-like elements.

@Topu-Da Totally agree with you about Motoko-like characters. Can't go wrong with badass cyborg ladies.

Also, because you can't do multi-line messages on here (lol)... less self-inserts. That's the mark of a lazy writer, and even a lazy reader. I remember one of my friends talking about her favorite fic, and it was some white girl, who had glasses, who worked in a library, and loved books, and was awkward, and... For some reason, that just really, really pissed me off? To me, that's not a point of a story! Even in first person, like so many wonderful novels have been written, you're able to sink into a role, to live life through their eyes. If you're living life through your own eyes, like that, that's just... lazy, to me. You lose a sense of adventure, of suspense.

The whole straight-to-gay thing. Someone who's been straight all their life, has only been with the opposite gender, suddenly falls in love with someone of the same and wow!!!1!!! Now they're gay. Only gay, and past relationships mean nothing. Also, especially in somewhere homophobic like Korea... they have no problem just accepting it, and really, that's not how it usually works.

@YeojaUiMongsang Even non-OC stories can be y. If you're not a good writer or if you don't have the interest of becoming one, it just shows.

@YeojaUiMongsang Genderswitch is amazing, I still don't understand why so few people like it, the possibilities with genderswitch are endless.

@MissMinew Yesh, I agree with you as well. Genderswitch is definitely something I wanna do again in the future, also trying out writing about a character that is bi (and possibly other types of identities as well, tho labels don't really matter to me) is another thing I've added to my imaginary list of things I would love to try out and do.

Genderswitch and more lgbt+. That's me being biased but I mean it. It annoys me that we're still stuck on the het/homo/bi when there's so much more to the spectrum. I mean, how many characters in a story is even bi? I haven't read a lot on AFF. Get in the game, where are my aces? My pans? My non-binary babies? My genderfluid loves? My wonderful trans-people? I understand that writing trans-characters may require some research and that wrong portrayal may cause dysphoria, but really? Is research that bad? I haven't written a trans-character yet but I do write the rest.
But I know this is just me being biased, lmao.

Oh and I agree with @YeojaUiMongsang about non-feminine females. Some badass female characters that don't need the male hero to save her. u_u

@Sempiternalis Same. I don't mind OCS, in fact I've read some stories that include OCS that I still really liked or was able to get enough around, but really it depends on the role of them, how many are used, how they play to the story and characters, personality, etc. So I'm also kinda more of a no OC type of person (even when it comes to my own stuff) and tend to like it more when it's straight up just the idols as characters and whatnot. And yeah, I've seen plenty of stories that I've found to be so wonderful, but not much attention is brought to them and I wish that many peeps knew about them.
