Part of being on the force so long requires a lot of passion and commitment which was built into Haneul's heart and mind ever since he decided on his career. Being passionate allows him to give more and do more than the average person when it comes to his work. The establishment needs someone to stay a few more hours or work overtime? Haneul will volunteer for that and make sure to bring in them results while working as well. He's got work surrounding him constantly as he involves with him as much as possible, asking his fellow co-workers about their own tasks and how he could possibly help them.

Friendly police man doesn't bite so go ahead and go to him for anything you wanna ask. He's probably one of the more chill members of the security in Daeghoul Fright Academy. To say he isn't strict is false since he does take his job seriously but won't be all up in your business if you wear your uniform wrong or if he catches you still in campus after curfew hours. You'd get scolded for sure but not to the point that he takes it too far where he'd insult you. Bottom line is, as long as you aren't actively trying to piss him off, you're on his good side.

His intuition has kept him alive so far while he dealt with a lot of dangerous and life-ending cases in his time in the force. He uses a lot of his thinking to delve into the minds of others and see how they would react to certain things. Close to being empathetic but more on imagining the possibilities. He can read students and staff members alike with a quick glance to see if anything is bothering them or to determine what is on their minds.

Truth comes first in his book since it builds a lot of trust in relationships. He will speak the truth unless he has a definitive reason to lie directly to your face. This makes him one of the more trustworthy members of security since he doesn't withhold information from s and would report anything he sees.

He is a 'by-the-books' type of guy meaning he follows protocol to the letter with nothing more and nothing less. This becomes a problem when spontaneous things happen which needs a change in procedure. He can't follow instructions like that as he always brings forth saying that they should just follow protocol and deal with the other stuff later. Whatever is written in the rules, that what he would follow no matter what. Even if the rules would be detrimental to others.

Being the type who follows the rules like his life depends on it, he would usually tell the others to do the same since it creates order and balance. While others would comply, others wouldn't which causes him to boss them around more and tell them to do their job properly. Kinda irritating especially if you are doing your job right and he still corrects little things you missed but aren't as important. Call it being a perfectionists but even some perfectionists don't boss as much as he does.

If you do start arguing with him about things, he would always bring the rules as his big points since those are the hardest things to counter. It was established by the head of security so if you've got a problem with that, then you could go right ahead and  talk to them about it. He won't back down either even if you make good points. It's basically talking to your parents and they would smack you with the "I'm older so you gotta listen to me" card but in the form of saying that the rules say this so you gotta do this.

Being too into your job isn't always a good thing. Haneul tends to work himself to the point that he forgets that he needs to take a break and relax. Not to be confused with someone who is short-tempered who can't be bothered but when he is on duty, you won't find him relaxing anytime soon. Even if it's a beautiful sunny day and everyone is having fun, he'd be dead serious with his job and roam like he is looking for gold.

Intro:
Haneul was a simple man who lived a somewhat simple life. He was a police officer who did well in his job. He enforced the law properly and was very kind in helping those in need. But here he is questioning why. Why did fate have to be so cruel? What did he do to deserve all of this? He did everything right to live a just and moral life yet a curse had been placed upon his entire being.

Encounter:
It all started when he and his co-officer where on patrol one night when they were given coordinates for a potential breaking and entering. Wasting no time, they started the vehicle and drove their way to the location. Taking it slow and stealthy, they approached the building and scouted the perimeter. Turning a corner, they were both attacked by a winged creature. Bewildered by the sight of the creature who they see clearly now as having no lower half, they immediately started firing.

What the :
The creature was far too quick for them to catch with their bullets. It knocked out both him and Haneul. He woke up in a daze and an aching pain on his stomach. He was about to grab onto his stomach when he saw the horror that had happened to him. His lower half had itself sitting perfectly still on the chair while he and his upper half were on the floor. He started screaming because of the experience, it didn't hurt but this is the common reaction of those who had just been turned into a Tikwi.

The monster they had been chasing started laughing and showed itself from the shadows it was hiding in, reattaching itself with its lower half and morphing back to its human form. Haneul seeing this was infused with so much anger that his wings sprouted from his back as he pounced on the man who had merely dodged his attack.

"Now now, officer. I advice that before you try and rip me apart, you best attach yourself first to your body before the sun rises lest you turn into dust." the man said. Haneul, seeing as through a window that the sun was beginning to rise, climb atop his lower half and was weirded out by the experience of them attaching themselves together. Before Haneul could even ask why the creature had turned him into one of them, the man was already gone.

Downfall:
Haneul's co-officer found him as well as the other officers who had come along after hearing that they were missing for a day. Haneul did not have it in him to hide the literal monster he had become. He confessed to his chief about it and even proved it by severing himself from his upper half and reattaching. His chief, bewildered by this truth, told him that monsters in the force are not trusted by everyone and that he is advised to quit his job while he still can lest someone find out and put a bullet in his head. His co-officer, hearing all of this, barged into the office and fought for Haneul's case saying that Haneul had contributed a lot as an officer and having him quit for some stupid reason like this would be injustice. Haneul knew that no matter how right his co-officer was, the world just wasn't prepared to have monsters live with them like this. He quit his job the same night, packed his stuff and went home.

He had also told his girlfriend about it to which she immediately broke up with him saying that she couldn't possibly let herself be with a monster and how iresponsible he was for letting something like that happen. His life was in shambles that he started drinking and doing nothing for days.

Second Chance:
He had remained a mess until someone came knocking at his door. It was a woman in a suit who had confirmed for his identity before introducing herself as an employee for a man known as Wang Seojun. She had heard about his case and wanted to offer him another chance at life. He was to work as security for the school known as Daeghoul Fright Academy as the administrator had recently requested for more security. Seeing as he himself was a police officer, no one would have been better to ask than him. Seeing as he was not yet ready to decide, she gave him her card to call if ever he had made up his mind.

If he accepted this job, he was going to experience a world that was all too foreign to him but, if he didn't accept it, what was he going to do? Nothing was left for him here in the society of humans. It was time he had moved on to the world of monsters. He called the number and agreed to the job.

Starting August of 2019, he has official become a member of Daeghoul Fright Academy's security team. He is about to experience this new world filled with different kinds of creatures.

[monster/creature] Tikwi 

[attributes] 

Super Strength: In his full Tikwi form, despite being only the top half, he is fully capable of lifting an average human with ease. To give it a limit, he is unable to lift cars but is able to topple them with enough speed. In his normal normie form, he does not possess this strength especially when it is morning.

Wings: He can sprout bat-like wings that span 2 meters across his back allowing him to fly at fast speeds.

Claws: Along with the black ichor covering them, his hands turn into sharp claws the pierce flesh with ease.

Fangs: His teeth grow sharp fangs that he can use to munch through the toughest of meats.

Divided: He splits himself in half from his waist up when he transforms.

Eyes: They turn coal black once he finishes his transformation.

Tongue: His tongue can extend itself up to 10 meters.

Powers he has and knows of:

Basic Shapeshifting: As a tikwi, he is able to sever himself from his lower half, grow bat-like wings, and change his hands into claws then reattach back to his lower half and form back into a "human".

Sound manipulation: He is able to alter the sound of his voice to make him sound farther or nearer than he actually is.

Powers he has but doesn't know of:

Advanced Shapeshifting: Being a variation of an aswang, he is blessed with the power of shapeshifting into a crow, a bat, a wild boar, a black cat, or a black dog.

Spellcasting: 

• During the day, Tikwis still have certain powers.
• Tikwi can also transform the appearance of objects. They will replace their live victims or stolen cadavers with replicas made from tree trunks or other types of plants. This doppelgänger will then return home extremely sick and die naturally to avoid suspicion.
• He can also cast helpful spells like improving ones physical capabilities.
• He could even create potions that heal.

[weaknesses and strengths] 

Strengths:

Darkness: He moves swiftly and silently which is even more benefitted when in darkness. With his sound manipulation, he can trick his victims by making it seem like he sounds far away but is actually near or behind them.

Speed: With his wings, he can travel as fast as a car to catch his victims.

Weaknesses:

The Sun: If he is unable to reattach himself to his lower half when the sun hits him, he will begin to turn into dust, dying in the process.

Things that could kill them: garlic, salt, Holy water, a crucifix, a rosary, prayer, or decapitation. They will also be destroyed by getting whipped with the tail of a stingray because they do not like the sound of it slashing through the air.

Holy consecrated grounds: Can not step into these places. If a doorway to a home or building has a special prayer posted by the entrance, then he cannot walk through the doorway.

Red and Black bead bracelets: These will keep tikwis away from the wearers. They are considered as magical artifacts that surround the wearer with a protective barrier against tikwis.

Identifiers:

An oil called Hintura will bubble if a Tikwi is in the vicinity. You can also spot a Tikwi by surveying their face. If they do not have a philtrum, the vertical indentation in the middle area of the upper lip, then they are not human.

You can tell whether someone is a Tikwi by looking into their eyes. If your reflection is upside down, then they are not truly human. You can also look at them upside down by sticking your head in between your legs. If their image appears different than when standing upright, they are a Tikwi.

Turning into a Tikwi:

A human can choose to turn into a Tikwi by tying a fertilized chicken egg to their stomach. Once the chick passes into their flesh, they must bury the shell in a bamboo tube with coconut oil and chicken dung. Then they will possess the powers of a Tikwi.

If a Tikwi dies, they can transfer their abilities to another person by holding their mouth close to them and letting the chick inside them hop from their stomach to the other stomach.

Additional Trivia:

If a Tikwi ends up marrying a human, then the partner will transform into a Tikwi as well on their wedding day. However, it is extremely rare for these creatures to reproduce.

Tikwis eat the hearts and livers of unborn fetuses and young children. They attack by using their proboscis, which extends from their mouth and reaches into a mother’s womb to out a meal while the women are asleep. This hunger can be countered with specific potions that witches or potion makers can create. It would satisfy their cravings for hearts and livers of unborn fetuses and young children so that they would only have to eat normal food.

Tikwis make the sound "Tikwi, Tikwi" (tik wee, tik wee) in a really high-pitched voice which is the only signal they give to announce that they have you in their sights.

Initial Reaction: Haneul was sure in for a shock when he heard about it through the news and among his co-workers since this was something he, as a police officer, was close to.

Response: He wasn't fully convinced that the evidence was enough to be rule the case as a suicide so he already suspects that something fishy was going on. Like someone was paid to say it was a suicide which isn't something common but not unheard of in the corrupt business between police officers and rich people.

Current Feelings: The case does linger within his mind from time to time because it irks him that it was ruled a suicide with such inconclusive evidence. If someone were to give him a lead, he'd definitely dip his toe in and do some investigating on his own.

[living situation] Staff housing cause after he lost his job, he was practically preventing himself from eating the right amount. The amount of sticky notes and newspapers in his room is overwhelming.
