sure, she will gain the love and support of her fans due to her zesty energy and sense of humour. sure, she'll gain attention and fame for being the comical character she is and for her small quips here and there. sure, she'll get noticed for her beauty and stage presence that enables to shine wherever she stands in the dance formation. there's a lot of things she'll positively gain from the idol life. dalbit thrives in that world, as if she was born for it. sadly, all the pressure from the expectations, busyness, and the lack of privacy or rest will take a toll on the moon in the day that comes in the form of kim dalbit.

BACKGROUND
what more can be said about dalbit's upbringing in the heart of seoul? an upper middle class family whose house was built to house three generations, her grandparents, her parents, and dalbit along with her siblings. what did her parents do for a living, you may ask? her father, following his parents' footsteps, became the head software developer in a leading IT company while her mother worked as the production supervisor at a publishing company. dalbit was well off but she never really boasted about what she had. the middle child among her siblings, dalbit had something her siblings didn't; an artistic touch. her older brother was talented in judo while her younger brother saw a passion in video games and computers.
it was dalbit who had this shimmer inside her that made her stand out amongst her siblings. sure, all three were named over objects that were in the sky; haneul ('99), dalbit, gureum ('04) as in the sky, the moonlight, and the clouds. dalbit never wondered why she was the only one who had "light" in her name instead of just the object name "moon". she never had time to hesitate. she loved to dance, to perform under the spotlight, and to receive the applauds growing up. this became the reason why she was allowed to enroll herself in dance academies early, experiencing jazz, pop, ballet, hip hop, and contemporary all since an early age. she found a fire within her in dancing and it delighted her grandparents and parents back at home. they were never in touch with their sense of arts or performing arts and through dalbit, there was song and dance playing in their hoouse.
so was it fate that one day, at the young age of twelve, a certain woman approached her as she was walking back home from the dance academy? the woman told her to try going to the audition sm entertainment was having in the weekend. if you asked her today, dalbit would probably still remember what sort of business card she received from that woman that day. young dalbit nodded silently and the woman seemed to smile, retreating back while saying, "you'll become a great idol if you come!" her words struck dalbit. a great idol? she scuffed. no, she was going to be one of the best, if she was going to do it under sm entertainment. nothing could change her mind and certainly, as she thought, nobody in her house stopped her from making that decision so that, folks, was how dalbit came into sm entertainment.

the two are almost similar. they do compliment each other in terms of their sense of humor and energy levels. they both have the same strong points and often, they are making everyone burst into laughter when put in the same room. "rumor has it, you should never let minhui and dalbit in the same room for too long," lee jeno would chime in. although, they both heads with each other often because minhui being more prone to act on impulse while dalbit, out of her anxiety, acts more cautiously. the two don't match on that account and on the fact that dalbit knows the lines to protect while minhui sometimes utters words that cross such lines. dalbit knows better than to express all of her inner demons while minhui's fuse is more often to be sparked. it's a shame since if they can put aside their differences, they can have a good time with each other and dalbit can't deny that in reality, minhui is a really nice eonni to her.

they can be seen as the two cutie pies who grow up and glow up together. both chaeyeon and dalbit started training at a young age (chaeyeon, especially), causing each other to depend on one another as they navigate this strict environment together. despite being only a year apart, dalbit's "motherly instincts" ("if she has any!" chimes lee haechan) just activate themselves around chaeyeon. she's never had a younger sister, growing up with only brothers around her so chaeyeon was perhaps the young sister she's always longed to have. dalbit babies her and tries to remind her of daily things like her laundry, her school uniform, breakfast, dinner, and her rest when in fact, she also needs to take her own advice sometimes. there's just something in dalbit's heart that feels pride and joy over seeing how chaeyeon has grown up so much since the first time they met each other as trainees and it's a good thing.

the kim dalbit being awkward with someone? if you really think about it, several names come into mind. one would be tian yue, a newer addition to tcg as a whole. the two have personalities that are polar opposites of each other and slight difference in sense of humour so the members will enjoy seeing the kim dalbit be slightly flustered in talking or trying to crack yue's bubble but of course, dalbit try her best to survive whatever her members throw at her and turn it into entertainment. yue would really take care of her and make herself available to dalbit's insecurities or anxiety, not making her own inner struggles known to the younger girl. dalbit will find yue a big support system because that's just how tian yue was born and grew up to be. since, if there's someone in tcg that can love even the ugly things inside you, it would tian yue. perhaps, dalbit's grounded perception and pragmatism can really help her jiejie grow a spine and push yue to focus on her own self-care for once.

dao is one of the older members that dalbit has a lot in common with and personally, wants to resemble. in dalbit's eyes, dao is perhaps one of the tcg members with a personality that just makes her want to brag about her. dao is that great in dalbit's eyes and it feels great that dao treats her as if dalbit was her kid. she gets a lot of affection and compliments from dao and of course, this reassures dalbit's inner demons to an extent. the two learn a lot from each other as dao learns to grow patience and a longer fuse than usual. even if dao has a quick fuse like minhui and is actually a bit more argumentative than minhui is, there is her charisma and self-assurance that wins dalbit over just like everyone else. there's a complexity to dao that even dalbit still can't figure out and dalbit being dalbit, wants to discover just what is dao hiding from the rest.

dalbit would say that she's grateful that she has a friend in lee jeno. out of all the trainees at the time, everyone would agree that dalbit and jeno are the best of friends. he's the friend that eases dalbit out, calms her down, and it's as if they share the same braincells. dalbit sees jeno as her twin flame and trustworthy support system as well as her wingman to her big crush on jeno's best friend, na jaemin. always wishing each other only the best in life, they check up on each other's well-being through text. when dalbit goes to her sharp descend in mentality, jeno will be one of her closest friends to come and comfort her first in an attempt to hype her up and get her morale back up. as he said to her once, "you know you're better than what you are right now and i know you'll always believe in yourself to come through even when you don't think so."

zhong chenle would definitely chime in on renjun's behave that he is actually scared of dalbit and the two are definitely "awsaz" worthy. they did bump into each other as renjun arrived around the time when dalbit was a mouseketeer and a sm rookie. it was just that, two trainees politely exchanging greetings as they minded their own businesses and that continued after renjun's debut in nct dream. with the help of the nct dream members who know dalbit better, they will get better acquainted with each other even if it's still obvious to everyone who sees them that they're "awsaz" no matter how much dalbit tries to get him to loosen up around her. perhaps, that's why the other members encourage their interactions; so that they can tease the hell out of it towards renjun.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ LEE DONGHYUCK "HAECHAN". 2000. YIN & YANG ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
although it's unclear who is the yin and who is the yang, that dynamic best describes how the lee haechan and the kim dalbit are with each other. one completes what the other lacks just as the moon completes the sun. this is due to the fact that they both have great understanding of each other. the two got along quickly and well from their trainee days like it just clicked. their chemistry has been known way back since their mouseketeer days and until this day, the two are still on the same page in terms of sense of humour and energy levels. they do not spare anything if given the chance to be honest to their fans about each other and the banter that fans get to witness between the two are always entertaining, sometimes even dubbed "legendary tiki-taka" (the korean slang to describe the situation that someone does something and then another one responds to support that thing efficiently, making the whole situation look like a very well-made chain reaction) among nct and tcg fans.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ ZHONG CHENLE. 2001. SAME-AGE FRIENDS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
considering the fact that chenle debuted within months after entering sm entertainment, dalbit didn't have much time to interact with him directly. when she did, though, it was never anything awkward. it felt weird for dalbit since it felt like he's been there for years. it did help that chenle and her were both super extroverts so they quickly bonded just like that. the boost of being the same age helped even more. they always have these exchanges of jokes and sometimes, they're just able to chime in an one-liner, casually walk away, and still be funny. they often laugh over their pre-debut photos and dalbit will do anything to win so that she can order chenle to pose exactly how he did as a kid. their friendship shines brighter with chaeyeon and jisung in the mix as chaeyeon and dalbit do have a similar dynamic to chenle and jisung (although the younger girl could never let her guard down that much to not call her "eonni").
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ JUNG SUNGCHAN. 2001. SAME-AGE FRIENDS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
when dalbit first saw sungchan, she never thought that they'd be the same age and that they lived in the same neighbourhood and never really noticed that fact until after they met as fellow trainees at sm entertainment. actually, other than that, they have a lot in common (even, their mbti is the same which should've explained it) so they were able to bond with each other quicker. especially, considering the fact that kim jungwoo literally made sungchan his right hand man and sees dalbit as one of his humour mentee. with chenle, they proclaim each other the '01 line gang (later on, aespa's winter will join them after she debuts). with sungchan, dalbit seems like she's known sungchan for a while since they both open up at the same speed. it was sungchan himself who casually started labelled dalbit his "twin flame" and it's not incorrect.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ KIM JUNGWOO. 1998. HER HUMOUR GURU ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
dalbit still can't believe that she was actually more afraid to talk to sungchan when it was actually jungwoo that was more built to be introverted. thankfully for her, she was able to talk to jungwoo more through sungchan and he quickly caught on fire, taking sungchan and her "under his wings" (up to this day, dalbit doesn't really understand exactly what is he referring to but she lets him be). she learned a lot from jungwoo regarding wit, being funny without trying, and some personal talents she can imitate (which ended up failing because it was funnier when he does it). dalbit does admit that jungwoo, in a sense, is her humour guru. having debuted before sungchan and jungwoo, dalbit is waiting for the day when she can unleash all the stories of those two's shenannigans during their trainee days to both tcg and nct fans alike.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ MARK LEE. 1999. THE BRO TO THE SIS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
before becoming fellow mouseketeers, dalbit and mark didn't really interact with each other much. after becoming mouseketeers with the other sm rookies, they've become really comfortable with each other. dalbit even has moments where she calls mark without calling him "oppa" (even until this day). dalbit sees mark as the outgoing "brother" friend and mark sees dalbit as the female donghyuck (now haechan). at first, mark really saw dalbit as a little sister figure who always had fun no matter what odds but as they both got older, he sees her more as a friend rather than the cute middle schooler he first met her as. it's funny how far they've both come since then so they sometimes like to pat each other on the back after always sending each other support and jokes while saying, "yo, we grew up so fast, let's keep it going". it reassures dalbit the way that she always sees the youngster mark in who he is today, he's grown up very well for sure but the sense of familiarity is still there.

dalbit knew that johnny was one of the more experienced trainees when she first came in. actually, she was a bit hesitant to interact with him, especially since johnny was close to yeri, irene, and seulgi at the time (a circle of people that seemed very talented). it was only after she got close to yeri, seulgi, and irene as they dormed together that dalbit was able to hang out and interact comfortably with johnny. he was chilled out, nice, and very caring which in a sense, reminded her of her own brothers. johnny does baby her and yeri up as they trained together initially (he'd argue that he paid more attention to dalbit since she was younger than yeri). up until this day, dalbit finds solice in talking to johnny since he's always been there as her "daddy long legs" (a nickname he spontaneously made up for himself since he was tall).

entering the agency just before she started preparing for her debut, it was due to jungwoo and kun that dalbit got to know lucas who she's on good terms with. they feed off of each other's energy and the room would be filled with endless high energy if it had the both of them. dalbit does try to help him out with his korean and loves to throw random jokes at him just as she was getting serious in teaching him some korean slang or phrases. dalbit admires the duality in lucas as he's actually more chilled out and serious when speaking (he showed her how he was going to crack jokes on variety shows before going on them, which she admits were funny) his native language. after being tricked by lucas to say some phrases that were misleading (remember that time you told me to tell kun i want him to buy us food! dalbit reminded him after his debut), dalbit is seriously contempating on whether or not she would learn mandarin.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ LIU YANGYANG. 2000. THE 'WHAT IF' DUO ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
just like how so many nctzens pine for haechan and yangyang's interactions, it raises the same questions for dalbit and yangyang. there are so many "what if" questions when it comes to dalbit and yangyang since they don't show much interactions with each other. it did take jung sungchan to bridge some conversations between the two before their debut. they do get along when in the same room and the jokes or exchange of banters are always entertaining. yet, upon their debuts, they rarely cross paths as wayv is heading in a different direction than the other nct subunits. they do share some stories of their interactions when they bump into each other at the agency. the episode that gained the most attention was when yangyang received a customized bucket hat that had the sheep emoji on it from dalbit once she found out he debuted. the lack of on-camera interactions still make fans pine over them.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ MOON TAEIL. 1994. THE MOON DUO ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
even before they were publicly announced as sm rookies together, taeil always had a fondness for dalbit and so did she. having quite the , taeil always came off as a mature older brother (or wise young uncle, dalbit would sometimes say) to her who gave off a lot of advice or feedback. he was also never shy of compliments, taking care of her as if she was his actual younger sister. the two were dubbed "the moon duo" or occassionally "twin moons" due to taeil's surname and the literal meaning of dalbit's name. actually, after they debut, taeil will be nicknamed "the older moon" or "moon brother" while dalbit will be "the younger moon" or "moon sister". it would be an entertaining sight to see if both were to create content together as dalbit is directly energetic while taeil's comical scenes happen after he warms up.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ QIAN KUN. 1996. SOFT MAMA BEAR ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
if taeil gave off the impression of a mature older brother or uncle, qian kun gave off gentle and well-mannered mother vibes for dalbit. it showed in the way he treated others, including dalbit and the younger trainees. chenle was definitely his favorite youngster out of them all and dalbit understood why. even before chenle entered the agency, kun really took good care of everyone. dalbit remembered how kun would always gave her banana milk or melon milk or choco pie when she arrived at the agency after school. he was one of the trainees who rallied everyone else (including most of the nct members now) to throw her a surprise birthday party along with johnny seo, mark lee, and lee jeno. dalbit is always thankful for kun and admires his passion for music. she'd love for him to provide the music re-arrangement for any of her future covers.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ THOSE NOT MENTIONED YET SO FAR ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
considering that she's debuted in 2017, she wouldn't have much interactions with hendery, winwin, xiaojun, and shotaro since their training periods didn't overlap with each other. if given the chance, she'll definitely be able to share the same braincells as hendery whose said to play the role of haechan in wayv. shotaro and her perhaps can get along well professionally as they exchange ideas or thoughts through dance. she could've interacted more with winwin but the language barrier at the time didn't help them at all, considering winwin's personality as well. they need to be pushed to interact in a certain way by the other members. the same goes for xiaojun whose training period never overlapped with hers but with the help of chenle or lucas, it could change quickly.
despite being an sm rookie, many question how her relations with the other former sm rookies who are now nct members. surely, jisung is still awkward towards her until this day because he was shy then and even now. with the help of jeno, jaemin, and chenle, they'll definitely be forced to try and get a conversation going between the two. jaehyun and her actually don't talk much to each other as he prefers to stay cool and keep to himself, not choosing to light up the room like she and haechan are more inclined to. although, dalbit has to admit that jaehyun is really handsome and actually looked like a prince when he was a trainee.
yuta, taeyong, and doyoung are a different case from jaehyun, especially doyoung who practically sees dalbit as his daughter and jeno as his son. dalbit and doyoung actually entered the agency at the same time so they had a sense of comradery for each other since they were both new at the time. that sense is still shared until this day as doyoung is very welcoming at the sight of her, ready to "mom" her up. yuta and taeyong were two people who took her aback because of their sheer talent, potential, and looks because look at them. taeyong was more welcoming to her and doyoung at the time but yuta, she has to admit, seemed very intimidating at first, especially since there was a language barrier. that first impression of yuta still sticks to her even if she's now warmed up to him and they're very courteous to each other.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ LEE SOO MAN. THE MASTERMIND OF IT ALL ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
it was the former chairman and founder of sm entertainment, lee sooman who approved of the use of her real name as her stage name. it was lee sooman's own words, "your name already suits you and your character. since you are a dancer, you should dance with detail and a soft touch. you'll succeed since you also have great humour." of course, dalbit was honoured to hear such compliments from the mastermind of the agency himself and after her debut, she and the other members of tcg puff do have a message group with him where he gives them feedback and supports them by sending screenshots of positive articles. lee sooman also allows them to go out at a restaurant he recommended and put the bill on his name. that's how dalbit figured out that not just anyone can be a frontrunner in the industry; you have to have the full package.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ BOA KWON. 1986. ROLE MODEL ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
the living legend herself who was already active when she was born. in dalbit's eyes, she's truly honoured to share the same agency, the same facilities, and the same roster as boa. boa's success really inspired her and boa's occassional mentoring when she pops into tcg's practice room really ignites a fire in dalbit's heart. despite her strict, meticulous, and punctual work ethics, boa is warm and pragmatic as an "eonni" to dalbit who can always give insightful advice the way things are. the fact that she's even allowed to call her role model by "eonni" makes her feel like a successful fan. boa actually told her once through text that she enjoyed laughing over dalbit's hilarious quips and since then, often sends screenshots of what she thinks is some of dalbit's best jokes.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ TVXQ. WISE AND PASSIONATE SENIORS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
everyone knows how passionate tvxq is, especially u-knnow yunho. dalbit grew up seeing them at their prime and to be frank, they still seem to be on their prime until today. like many singers in the industry, u-know yunho's passion and dedication in anything inspires her greatly and she'd be more than happy to receive honest feedback or coaching from him. max changmin's more chilled out demeanour may deceive others, but dalbit could never ignore the fact that she always gets goosebumps when she hears him sing, especially when he hits the high notes. tvxq actually do baby her but are always amazed at her energy and humour, one compliment she actually did hear from u-know yunho himself. dalbit does receive supportive text messages from tvxq who always seems to be keeping themselves up-to-date with every junior artists' activities.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ SUPER JUNIOR. INSPIRING, HILARIOUS AHJUSSIS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
perhaps, super junior is the first group that had major duality and dalbit always enjoys watching funny super junior clips every now and then. even their videos from more than five or seven years ago are still funny and entertaining. she always fails to pass the "super junior don't laugh challenge" but she just can't help it. the way they are really good at crafting their art in their respective fields is something that dalbit wants to learn. she does want to be a dancer with a long-term career like d&e but perhaps, she'd want to explore new things. all the members of super junior interact with her on good terms, always making her laugh with unexpected jokes or funny faces that even she can't think of.

there's no need for a long description when dalbit hears the group name "girls' generation". the moment she hears it, she'll get chills and this vague feeling of nostalgia. she grew up watching the nation's girl group and she idolizes every single member as each member has different skill sets but when put together, it just somehow works. she aspires to achieve just a portion of their legacy as that in itself is already a big achievement for her and her group. she becomes very nervous and awkward around them just because their aura itself is already different. she'd perhaps get along well the most with hyoyeon through dance.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ SHINEE. THE ONES SHE FANGIRLS OVER ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
other than girls' generation, shinee was the group that convinced her that the future of the idol world was bright. she fangirled over taemin and minho so much as she was growing up that her mother accidentally started fangirling with her. it was shortly after then that she started to attend her dance academy where she eventually would get street casted to sm entertainment. being a fan of shinee, she was more than happy to accept the business card and audition. it still hasn't dawned on her that she's actually an idol under sm entertainment, the same agency as the group she fangirled over as a kid. it doesn't help that the shinee members all get along with her, especially key and minho. she doesn't even dare look taemin in the eye, she's that shy to be around him. (she cried so much when she saw the news of jonghyun's passing, it still hurts her)
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ F(X). THE MUSICALITY THAT BLOWS HER MIND ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
dalbit loved seeing the sibling-like relationship of shinee and f(x) at their days, although she could never imagine her and her brothers getting along so well as them. f(x) was unconventional and experimental, making them the epitome of sm music performance and the unique girl group sm entertainment always wanted. their music, in general, always has a place in dalbit's hard because they were the ones who introduced electric dance beats to kpop and everything took a turn since then. dalbit remembers the day she bought the pink tape album and fell in love with song 'airplane' and 'goodbye summer'. she forced the hell out of lee haechan to sing 'goodbye summer' with her as a duet during one of their monthly evalutions (which, to this day, remains a legendary rendition in the minds and ears of nct and tcg members alike).

starting her trainee years just after exo debuted and gained huge success in the industry, dalbit could only dream of being able to act normal when she's in the same room as them. she's pretty shy towards them and the members of exo were the ones who told her to calm down around them (which, to this day, she can't because her mind just keeps going "asdfjkl"). that didn't stop the exo member to and baby her up just the way they do to yeri. the person who enjoys teasing her the most is baekhyun and chanyeol while suho gives her a lot of wisedom. she'd never admit this to them verbally but she was actually a fan of sehun and d.o before she knew how they were as people.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ RED VELVET. EONNIS WHO ARE LIKE HER SISTERS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
the relationship with her and red velvet is similar to nct since they were in the same jumble of trainees at the time. dalbit still remembers how she and her yeri "eonni" would commute together to school, how irene always reminded her of her laundry, how seulgi taught her some dance moves, how wendy always snuck in some protein bars or snacks in her bag, and how she was amazed at joy's beauty and voice at the time (although, until this day, irene even in her bareface amazed her the most). red velvet are still the big sisters who took care of her when she was young and they were really happy to see her debut, yeri especially since they trained together before she was added to red velvet. they still get nostalgic of the past when they see each other and to dalbit, red velvet's music and performances are just incredible and unique.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ AESPA. HOOBAES WHO ARE MORE LIKE CHINGUS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
even if aespa debuts in 2020, dalbit knows them well as karina (yoo jimin) and winter (kim minjung) were hidden sm trainees at the time who trained alongside her. ningning trained closely with her before she was publicly announced as a sm rookie. she's quite friendly with them, except perhaps giselle who didn't get to cross paths with her as a trainee. dalbit would most likely share some episodes of her and the aespa members when they were training together, causing fans to become more curious and pining for their interactions. seeing as some of the trainees she trained with didn't make the final lineup, dalbit was a bit bitter to see them have to give up the trainee life but decided that it had nothing to do with aespa so she'll support her trainee mates and aespa just the same.

it was difficult at first. every new beginning is difficult. for young dalbit, only twelve at the time, the new environment and surroundings intrigued her. she was welcomed by the other female trainees who weren't as much as the male trainees, even at the time. that made the friendships she forged with the other trainees out of the sense of comradery back then strong. if it weren't for the older trainees at the time, she wouldn't have settled. if it weren't for the trainees who were the same age or similar age with her, she wouldn't know how it feels to have friends. she enjoyed the lessons, practicing the dance with her own style or color, and taking vocal lessons. she's never really paid much attention to her singing and made sure she won't be seen as tone deaf by others. there was a sense of adrenaline in dalbit's veins, having never felt such a feeling before in life. dalbit, today, can confidentally say that the feeling she felt was excitement.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ AFTER BEING ANNOUNCED AS AN SM ROOKIE ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
she didn't let it go to her head, even if she wanted to go insane from the pressure. she found out the exposure was a double-edged sword quickly, as schoolmates and relatives alike bombarded her with questions of trainee life or her debut. it put gas to her anxiety and she remembered the one time she crumbled when she was alone in the practice room. it was lee jeno, na jaemin, goeun, and hina who discovered her and no matter how much she denies it, her red, puffy, and swollen eyes from crying didn't provide much concealment. the sm rookies trainees helped her get her inital morale up and since that day, lee jeno and na jaemin has yet to see her cry again. that day really brought her back to her senses, causing her to tune out all the unnecessary comments of others and put herself first.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ DALBIT'S EDUCATION, DIET, ATTITUDE ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
seeing vocally talented trainees like ninging, wendy, seulgi, and joy motivated her to keep on improving, wanting to be noted upon as well. her thirst for acknowledgement ignited the flame that made her discipline. she had her own to-do list for each day, how many hours to dedicate to vocals, dance, and rap. this became the foundation of her self-discipline and work ethic. she kept adding hours to the total amount of her practicing hours and when she felt tired, she always took a break. her time management kept her from crumbling as she also had to juggle middle school, graduating from her international midde school with just enough attendance. she proceeded to attend hanlim multi arts school, just like her yeri "eonni" where she was in the practical dance department. she managed to graduate high school with the minimum amount of nonattedence as the school was a bit more lenient. dalbit always kept herself grounded thanks to her pragmatism and she never really went against the rules, making sure that she always wrote her true feelings in her trainee log or diary.

ˏ⸉ˋ☾ DALBIT REACTIONG TO HER DEBUT ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
being an announced sm rookie made a lot of people speculate on her possible debut due to the amount of exposure she's gained. that was why her reaction to being in the debut lineup for tcg was just ecstatic. then, it dawned on her. she was only sixteen, being thrown into the idol world already. the worries started to drown her in thought as she wondered if she was ready. no, that's not a question for the kim dalbit. of course, she was ready. i shouldn't be second-guessing myself, i'm amazing. dalbit tried to stay afloat, to focus on practicing the choreography for the debut song. deep down, it still hasn't dawned on her. in a few weeks, she'll no longer be four year trainee kim dalbit. she'll be tcg puff's dalbit and she's going to live with it.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ LIVING AS TCG'S DALBIT ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
she had to leave behind most of her school hours to record, perform, and practice at the agency building but dalbit was never an outstanding student so she found some solice there. she made sure she spread the word to her schoolmates, though and she gave handwritten letters to all her classmates and teachers as she would rarely see them. as tcg's dalbit, she had to cut the calories in her meals, rarely eat rice (not like she did eat much of it before, anyways), and religiously stretched her muscles. given her young age, she hadn't developed a passion to work out but slowly, she'll have to take it up to stay fit and as a hobby. taking up flying yoga and pilates will help her glow up and keep her body revitalized. she always made sure to take a rest, appreciating every minute of sleep and lying down. she'll slowly learn how to practice opening up to others, keeping her anxiety at bay, and to slowly cut off her needy tendencies towards others. she'll continue to live as the zesty dalbit that she is in the dorm and protect the dorm rules as they are. as dalbit says it, "i trust the process and the journey."

NICKNAMES
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ NANA, NA JAEMS, JAEM ☽ˊ⸊ˎ some nickname he's gained over the years he's become an idol. the only nickname he grew up being called by and still is to this day is "nana", who everyone close to him uses on a daily basis as a nickname to call him.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ JAEN, JAENNIE ☽ˊ⸊ˎ nicknames that were a result of dalbit scrambling and making up any nickname for jaemin who seems to be racking in nicknames for her after chaeyeon introduced "dalnim" and people calling her "moonlight" or "kim moonlight". the nicknames are perhaps derived from his first name but really, it was just random similar-sounding words dalbit uttered as retaliation. jaemin, luckily, doesn't seem too bothered or displeased by the nicknames.
PERSONALITY

na jaemin is one who strives to support and guide others in the sense that he grew up loving helping out others. he's supportive of s or generally, those around him as he only wants the best for others and he'd choose empathy over cold judgement any day. his devotion to what he loves and believes in is admirable, always putting hard work and patience to pull through. he's patient and would match the pace of others if it means for a win-win situation. as he prefers to step back and watch the crowd and noise do their thing, he uses his skill of observation and empathy to provide what others need just exactly how they need it. much like dalbit, he's action-oriented in his method of doing things in his daily life. in fact, na jaemin is the exact person who fits the description of "actions speak louder than words". that's why just a flash of his smile or a very deep bow is enough for him to convey his intentions and reinstate his presence in the room because unknowing to himself, he actually oozes charisma.
despite what others think of him, jaemin is a big introvert. he hates putting too much unnecessary energy in social situations. he conserves his energy and the more he hangs out with extroverts, the more he gets drained or quiets down quickly. despite being warm and supportive, his tendency to conserve his energy causes him to be a man of few words. this makes him the exact opposite of talkative haechan or dalbit on their high energy days. he really doesn't put himself out there, always keeping a humble stance on everything. yes, this would mean that he creates an on-camera persona that is more outspoken and lively. off-camera, he really doesn't talk about himself that much and keeps his words to the minimum. it's because of his strong sense of duty and self-fulfillment that he doesn't wish to change, he's stubborn that way and deep down, he's definitely taking on more than he can chew and more than he should be just because he wants to achieve a certain level of self-fulfillment.

he's just someone who i can never figure out after all the nice things i see and hear from him. yet, somehow, there's this air of mystery and distance to him but... sometimes, i know it's because the energy of crowds and loud people drain him out. he's a dear friend, no matter what and i don't even know why i'm happy that he's loosen up around me... it's been a few years now and still, the one-liners, the short quips and chimes he says with that grin of his melts me down the same way it did the first time.

FIRST MEETING

the way they met wasn't really anything special. she and jaemin were part of the same trainee batch that entered the agency in 2013. they had to exchange greetings with the other trainees when they came for their first day and so, their first exchange of words weren't anything special. thirteen year old jaemin with a straight face and a contradicting trembling hand shook twelve year old dalbit's hand. although now looking back, dalbit at the time was taken aback by his pure looks. she hasn't seen anyone around her with such looks, causing her to realize "oh right, this is sm entertainment, after all" as she stole glances of him from the corner of her eye.

DEVELOPMENT
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ CHAPTER ONE, WHERE THEY BECOME FRIENDS ☽ˊ⸊ˎ
• this city that dreams with us and the story of this moment that will never return, it’s our story right now •
putting aside their mild first encounter, the two managed to become friends. she found it easy to befriend jaemin through jeno. soon, they became a trio as it was usually na jaemin, lee jeno, and kim dalbit being seen together. they just started off that way and it hasn't really changed. sometimes, dalbit forgets that she's a year younger than the two and with jeno and jaemin's permission, she's allowed to be completely informal with the two (think of the way mark doesn't call jungwoo "hyung" anymore). at the time, it was perhaps wendy or joy who told the two to take care good care of dalbit since her big sister trainees were going to debut in red velvet. since then, they started to take care of her better as if it was automatic for them.
having herself surrounded by brothers made dalbit become unaffected with the barriers of "guys" and "girls", causing her to become more laidback and outgoing. that's why she found her friendship with jeno and jaemin comfortable and she found it easier to be herself around them, not too afraid of the fallout when compared to how she has to maintain her good "behaviour" around the other girls (not that she didn't like them, being around guy friends is just a different feeling for dalbit). jeno was more responsive while jaemin was always in charge of one-liners and nodding to her every word. at first, she thought that jaemin wasn't enjoying her company or wasn't interested but jeno whispered to her one day that despite how he puts out his persona, jaemin is actually an introvert. a mega one.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ CHAPTER TWO, WHERE DALBIT CRUSHES ON HIM ☽ˊ⸊ˎ

yet, perhaps this point led to dalbit taking more interest in the boy of few words, few expressions (excluding when on camera), and full of nodding and agreeing hums. the way he's always taking note of her despite of his lack of words is consistent off-camera and on-camera. he's always the one who reminds jeno to let her sit in between them on the subway and always waves her off when she gets off her stop whie jeno keeps his eyes on his phone. at this point, dalbit was used to them looking after her and their personalities.
it was just that deep down, her eyes always ends up searching for na jaemin. unconsciously, she'd always ask in her mind (sometimes, out loud to a certain few) where he was. she always talked it out around him, assured that he wouldn't comment on anything. he'd just listen, believe in the best within her, give her a smile or a pat on the back and compliment her. dalbit saw how jaemin would sneak in a smile or a thumbs up when she catches him from the corner of her eye. it's the way that he just suddenly drops off a snack or banana milk of some sorts when she's practicing late and the suspicious way he always seems to bump into her after hours. he doesn't need to walk her to the bus stop or subway station or even buy something for her at the convenience store but he does anyways.
yet, she didn't want to be so easy to read when she keeps everything personal inside her so despite yeri or the other trainees (even, current nct members at the time were quick to notice) teasing her about it, she didn't want to acknowledge it.
it was a certain incident that made her realize it when jaemin took a hiatus from promotions in 2017.
"na jaemin, i heard you got hurt! why didn't you tell me and i had to find out from jeno lee?!"
"this is exactly why i didn't want to tell you right away"
"you could've told me, a text would've been fine"

dalbit swears that at the moment, she felt like the world stopped. somehow, the sentences he utters so calmly without change of expression made her feel important and at east.
she could no longer deny that she has a huge crush on na jaemin.
ˏ⸉ˋ☾ CHAPTER THREE, WHERE THEY STAND TODAY ☽ˊ⸊ˎ

for the years she's known na jaemin, he always seemed consistent despite his growth and puberty. he only told his stories to a certain few, namely jeno and dalbit and is always serious or energy-saving off-camera. he never seemed outgoing and over the years he's known her, she's encouraged him to be more out there. she gives him her energy, giving him the surge of vibrance that he rarely gets without his coffee. somehow, she's motivated him to be better than what he is, to express himself more, and to keep himself grounded. dalbit has been a significant influence on jaemin, without her knowing due to his lack of words but he'd really like to tell her how much he's learned from her. it always seemed the opposite way, but jaemin doesn't think of himself as someone dalbit can learn from.
everyone knows dalbit's side, including jaemin as she makes it way too obvious. she always goes the extra mile for jaemin, letting him have a portion of her energy and fellow nct members notice how dalbit can put a smile on his face in a split second.
even if she wants to believe it's unrequited, she's anxious and just wants him to say it out loud. she's scared of second-guessing and seeming as if she's demanding too much from him.
maybe, jaemin will have to surprise her through a heartfelt speech or talk or maybe even a handwritten letter or note with all his sincerity.
