40 Questions for Fanfic Writers 2

Hello!

Here is part 2 of the list of questions I stole from MidnightOnyx

You can check her answers here . And part one here.

Since there are many questions I will answer them gradually, five each time and I hope, if you are up to it, to discuss some of these topics, as writers or readers (or both). ^^

6. Share one of your weaknesses.

My lack of vocabulary. Since I'm not an English speaker there are many words I struggle with, specially to describe actions and objects. I often consult lists of ary related with what I'm writing about but I feel like that hinders me from writing better. My stories often have grammatical mistakes and typos too. I always reread the new chapter several times but they manage to pass. =(

7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

I have no idea.

Hum, this whole scene on Marrying an Idol chapter 27 is specially cute and I like it because of that. I'm proud of how real it feels and it«s adorable and cute.

“Wow! Cute!”

He chuckled wondering how that was cute and placed his hand on her waist, releasing a deep breath. He wanted her again and that made him feel like a selfish ert boyfriend. He knew how much she wanted to go out and have normal dates with him but all he wanted was to kiss her and make love with her. Of course, he was having fun and he couldn't deny how warm he felt every time he saw her smile excited over every small thing they did together, even buying their entrances to the aquarium, standing in line together made her grin like a fool. Maybe that was one of the reasons why he wanted to selfishly disappear with her into a dark corner and ravish her.

“Cute!” he poked her dimple and once again she looked away embarrassed.

He stepped back giving her more space and she walked beside him.

“They could hire you as a guide here, you know so much.”

“I have many weird hobbies, one is reading random books about things that interest me at the moment. Anatomy, astronomy, architecture, fishing…”

She frowned “So you read the book because you want to fish endangered species?”

He chuckled “No, I read a book about sea life after my travel to Singapore and I visited the aquarium there on a show. Fish look so free, don't they? I wanted to know a bit more and bought a book.”

“I see.'' Her gaze fell on his hand on his side and he smiled knowing that she wanted to hold hands again. Even if he wanted the same he didn't reach for her hand and they walked beside each other approaching the end of the hallway that led to an open area where other kinds of animals were.

She cleared cutely and he pretended to be distracted with a tank when he felt her fingers touch his, sliding in the middle of them. It was adorable and he had to fight the urge to pull her to his arms and kiss her right there. Instead, he firmly held into her hand and smiled warmly at her.

“Penguins!” Her excited screech followed by the pull of her hand made him stumble forward after her. She only stopped when she reached the handrail separating the public from the penguin exhibit. “I love them!”

8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

Honestly I can't think of any.

But then I remembered this little part of Wanted chapter 15 that specially like mostly because of the feeling and how well it flew out of me.

He watched her boil the water and then rip the package to make his instant coffee. She placed a mug with it in front of him and then prepared her tea and sat beside him at the small kitchen table.

Nari blew on her tea and his eyes drifted from her lips safely away to the fridge and the several pictures she pined there. One of them was for sure of her parents. He glanced at her a few times until she noticed it. It wasn't uncomfortable at all and he relaxed, allowing himself the luxury of observing her for as long as he wanted. She didn't seem bothered with it, on the contrary, she was looking back at him, smiling once in a while as if she could read something in his expression as if his attention amused her.

“How did you do it?” He asked after a while, not sure how long because time seemed to not matter when he was with her.

“Hum...it's not hard, it has the instructions on the back.”

“No.” he interrupted her “I don't mean the coffee. I mean…” that conversation was a mined field for him but he was genuinely so curious. “Getting over the death of your parents, going on. If it was me...suddenly being alone...I…” He would have wanted to die. He wanted to die, that was the only thing in his mind, the guilt, the sadness chewed him alive. “I wasn't sure I would want to keep living.”

“Hum…” her eyes didn't stray away from his and he loved how they were able to talk intimately like that so close looking at each other as if they were connected. “The thought did cross my mind. I didn't have any more close family, I was a loner without any friends but I had myself. And If I died who would honor the memories of my parents? It wasn't as if they wanted me to give up. And I really didn't want to. I mean if I did I would be giving up on meeting everyone along the way, I would give up on Nari's candles that I love dearly, I wouldn't have gotten closer to Jonghyun, I wouldn't have met Sora….or you. So I made a hard choice, to live.”

“Me…” he chuckled “Was it even worth it meeting me? I mean, I hurt you.”

“You did.” She looked down at her tea ”But I love you and the fact that I was blessed with that feeling even if unrequited is something I don't want to throw away.”

She loved him. The scary words that didn't seem as scary now.

“If you could go back, would you do it exactly the same?” Would you still date me?

“Yes. Everything, all of it, or this moment wouldn't happen and we wouldn't be here right now.”

He pinned her under his gaze trying to ignore the tightness of his chest. “After losing your parents aren't you scared of death? Of losing Sora, Jonghyun…” Or me.

“Of course I'm scared. But that's life, isn't it? And why think of something that didn't happen yet or might not happen, why suffer with it or try to avoid it when you can just live the present, be happy and be with the ones you love. That's what living is, make many happy memories.”

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

Perfectly Dangerous for sure. Not only because of the insane plot, but also because of all the jumps on the timeline and because it had more action. I spent so many hours planning it, rereading it to see if there were no loose ends. I even wrote extensive timelines.

From the ones I'm writing right now, Treat for two is the hardest one plot wise. And then Wanted. Many secrets and plot twists and characters, makes it all much more complicated. Marrying an idol comes next because it's a long story and I have many ideas that struggle with each other. And then Urgent Matters, which is hard to write because I always need to come up with fresh y situations. LOL

10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

There isn't specifically one that was easy to write. I often struggle with lack of inspiration and it affects almost all. Honestly. Short stories, one shots are easier to write because no need for much planning. Plot wise, In trouble with you had a simple plot so could be easier but it isn't because I struggled with inspiration a lot with that one.

What is your opinion? Did you like these parts in the story or do you have another ones you liked most, or less? Do you notice my struggles in the stories I mentioned or with my biggest weaknesses?

I first came across your In Trouble With With You. The storyline is just something I like and Kibum and Minho were there. I'm still reading Perfectly Dangerous. I'll finish it soon. It left me breathless countless of times. But my most favourite will be Wanted (which reminds me, I need to subscribe instead of simple bookmarking one of the chapters). You made the characters so irresistible. I especially love Lee Nari. Ah, she's just so pure and genuine and loveable I want to give her a hug.

I'd love it if you write something that explores the thriller/mystery/crime fic genre. I'd subscribe in a heartbeat. And turning one of the SHINee members (I'm taking a wild guess) as the bad guy is just so intriguing. Yes, please. Give us that when you can. :D

As for your strengths, I absolutely agree! Your stories are well thought out. Nothing happens in random. Everything has a purpose. When I read them, I enter the life of the characters as if they're real. And if I could add, I love how you flesh out your original characters. They're so relatable and I laugh and cry and love with them. <3

Great start here, I look forward to the rest!

I really liked the first and third plots. I want to do one where the female has a guy pretend to be her b/f too, there's something about that storyline that is just fun ya know? I had it planned for my other domestic fandom, but never came into fruition, but I think I'm gonna do it for kpop eventually. Anyway, yes, that potental Onew one sounds great, I really hope you decide to do it and if with an OC, with a link where we can read it, I'm really intrested in it.

I forgot to put in mine for the whole tropes I wouldn't do, and yuri (I think the other is yuri) and mpreg and all that...tho I did dabble just a bit in a looooong time ago, it wasn't my thing. The mpreg thing I could never get into either, I can't quite grasp that, no offense to those who like it or write it.

I think you have just really good style with writing. It's honest and believeable and relatable. I love stories that don't feel like stories you know? Stories that feel like you're reading about a friend, or you're there watching as things unfold, stories that you believe can actually happen, they're conversational if that makes sense, you do that well. Ahhh I need to go back and reread some of your stuff, it's been too long.

Oh and by the way, if you ever need help with English stuff, let me know, I'm always willing. I know you have a beta reader or probably someone else you go to, but I'm always here as well, use me! LOL!

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

* I would have to say 'Rhythm' because of the sensitive topic which is being transgender. I wanted to make sure I did my research thoroughly before starting. I have so much respect for that community & it was hard to be raw yet shy about it. I hope I did a good job on it.

10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?

* All my other stories were super easy to do. I had some brain fart moments (Deadly Desire took 3 years to complete. I did the final chapter on Monday. Lol) along the way but once I got on a roll everything came naturally.

38. Talk about a review that made your day.

* My bestie on AFF was really sick a few years ago & she was reading my stories to pass the time. The one that stuck out for her was 'Love That Came From The Stars' with Niel of Teen Top. It was a Sci-Fi romance which was right up her alley because she loves those genres. She was surprised I chose him because he doesn't have a lot of stories where he's the main character on AFF which made her want read it even more. When she finished it she thanked me & gave me the best compliment in the world: "Your stories get me through my day. I hate being here (in the hospital) but your work makes me so happy. I hope you continue writing because you have a gift for it, Thank you sis!". This made me cry so hard because my work is actually helping people get through their day, weither it's good or bad. She's the reason I've continued writing till this day because I was unsure if I was really good enough to be on this site with so many talented writers. <3

24. Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?

* Yes I have. I recently deleted 'Scream' simply because it stopped getting subscribers. I did the same for my older work from 2014 - 2018. If it stops getting attention I figure no one is interested or it's boring so I delete them which hurts me to my core tbh.

19. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?

* Yes I do. Any beautiful man in K-Pop becomes my muse for each story I do, Mainly Jung Taekwoon/Leo of VIXX. I mean he's my hubby after all, Lol. Everything about him intrigues me & I can't help but fantasize what a day or year would be like with him. Jackson n Mark of Got7, Yeoseob of Beast, Rain, Sungjae of BtoB, Jay Park, Taemin, Taeyang, Key n Minho of SHINee, Niel of Teen Top, Xander of U-Kiss, Kai of Exo & Jimin of BTS have all been my muses. Jeon Jungkook is next on the list.... Please pray for me. Lol UwU
