BACKGROUND
Son Yona never knew the feeling of family love since the beginning of time. In the faded memories of her childhood, all Yona can remember is the faces of the maids working in her large house and even birthdays weren't celebrated with her parents.
Coming from a rich family who owned a power tech company, it was determined that Yona was to grow up lonely. Her parents were barely home most of the time and even when they were at home, the atmosphere was too awkward as none of them had ever spent quality time with each other as a family.
While Yona craved for family love and the childhood memories that she should have been making with her parents, all her parents gave her were lavish expensive items - thinking that these materials would make Yona happy and less lonely. They thought that their only daughter would be happy with such things when in reality, all Yona wanted was a family dinner where they could talk about anything except for their work. As the years passed by, Yona stopped hoping for her parents to understand about the things she needed and gradually, held no expectations for them to change their ways anymore.
Most people would say that Yona was blessed by the heavens above since she was born with brains, beauty and wealth. Being homeschooled nearly her entire and not developing proper people's skills, her parents send her off to a high school when they thought that Yona should finally start to mingle with people her age.
It didn't go very well at first considering high school is never a good place to start and Yona rubs off people the wrong way when they find out about her wealth status and her placing among the top spots after exams. People wanted to befriend her but Yona, who was already used to be being by herself and had already built a defense wall to avoid from getting attached to people, closed herself off from those who tried to approach her with warmth. The students start calling her nasty names behind her back, calling her a stuck up snob or an 'Ice Princess' and claiming that "Yona must think she's better than the rest of us just because of her money."
It's at 15 does she discover games when she decides to check out a pc-bang located a few blocks from her neighbourhood. She gets in almost immediately and from then on, gaming became the only reason why she's so eager to leave home anymore. She starts skipping classes - sometimes she's there for certain lessons, sometimes she's only there to take attendance - and avoids herself from the other students and teachers because nothing ever goes right when students openly talk about her. Her grades start dropping too since she pretty much abandoned studying and does the bare minimum to keep herself at an average grading scale.
Her tattered reputation doesn't faze her at all since she knows when high school is finally over, she can just quit being around people and live the rest of her days in front of the computer screen with her beloved games where her online friends are much better company compared to the idiotic students and teachers she has to deal with.
"If only my life was like a game, it would be so much more interesting," she wishes every night.
And what do you know? That selfish wish of hers does come true in the end.

Everything is in some type of designer brand such as Adidas, Nikes, and Puma. Even in school, Yona is never seen without her baggy jackets! In her own terms, Yona describes her style as 'being able to look good without too much effort' which many people would agree on.

After being transported, Yona opts for a different kind of style that's befitting for her new role. Clad in dark tones so that she can infiltrate areas easier without being seen, a hoodie and mask to prevent her identity from being exposed, those mid-arm fingerless gloves so conceal some weapons and to snatch things quietly, breathable clothing so that she can use her every inch of her muscles to its full extent - her clothing just screams 'thief! thief! beware!'

True to her title as the trouble making student who can't go even a month without spending time in detention, Yona would say that you should probably stay away from her unless you want to be like her. She hardly ever follows anyone's rules and prefers to play by her own set of rules. Her tendency to go against orders by teachers have earned her a bad rep among the school board and to be honest, she doesn't really care. She's a disobedient student and yet the rumors that surround her and the bad reputation that she has doesn't seem to faze her at all which is why she's sometimes described to be apathetic by her 'zero-s' attitude. She's gotten tired of being around the same type of people that she can't seem to find the energy to give a single flying about how they look at her. It's also a known fact that Yona dislikes being around others, it's mainly due to how difficult it is for her to put her trust into others. She deems that she's the only person that she depend and put her full trust into because she has yet to learn that -newsflash - some people can be trusted! A fiesty soul, the fire in Yona is easy to ignite considering how aggressive she is. She can swing her fist faster than you can blink if you said something that pisses her off and it's more than once caused her to get into detention... and very very close to suspension. Described as reckless by others, Yona is prone to doing things before she thinks them through. She'll probably go off somewhere dangerous by herself without thinking how worried everyone would be over her! Her fight or flight mode is always on fight, after all.
This doesn't mean that Yona is just all bad though! There's good parts to her as well.One of those is how attentive she can be, especially when she's in a group of people. From catching someone fall before they even notice they're slipping to pulling someone to the side from getting crashed into, Yona seems to notice things before people can even comprehend what was happening. She's also someone responsible who people think they can rely on. For instance, even though she tends to skip classes, if there's a group project that she's part of - you can bet that she'll attend meetings and be present during the presentation day. She knows how important her role can be at times and still does her best since it's the least she can do. Outspoken and not the type to back down, these traits shine the most when Yona speaks her mind. When she has an opinion, she'll make sure that you will acknowledge and put it into consideration - she has no fear of failure or critism after all. Although Yona has a tendency to not get close to people, the few that manage to wedge themselves into her heart will forever be protected under her. At first, Yona is already aware of the usual characteristics of Arese since she's read about him on the game's characters as well as reading from other gamers perspectives. To Yona, Arese is just an annoying NPC.
He often talks about himself in a very arrogant manner, confident in his skills and expertise but his rough and blunt way of speaking does rub off wrongly on Yona's side during the first couple of meetings. Seeing as to how conflict-aversed he is, Arese is the last person you'd think would get into a verbal argument with anyone. Plus, Arese gets easily bored and has a difficult time being still so you can count on him to be up on his feet all the time.
Upon further interactions, Yona discovers that he's a bold person - someone who isn't afraid to confront dangers since he is confident about his own skills. Yona can see how passionate Arese is in what he does since he gives it his all whenever he has a job he's been assigned to - which lowkey makes her see him in a new kind of light. His playful attitude makes the tough-on-the-outside-and-inside Yona laugh and enjoy herself at times so yeah, he is a fun guy to be around.
Oh, and did Yona mention he has a jealous side to him? Despite how he seems to not care about the other people's feeling if he were to be the one gone all the time, he expects that other people would be loyal to him. He's a difficult person but to Yona, he's a fun challenge.

Did Yona have a crush on Arese before she was transported into the game?
Hell ing no.
Yona was not one of the many players that were bewitches by his character design. She just found him to be an annoyance throughout the game and would often even try to avoid from meeting his character unless it was needed.
SHUT UP, LOSER
After being transported into AB, Yona still didn't like his character upon their first meeting. She would shutdown his attempts to talk to her or even flirt with her and tried to steer clear of him, making excuses to her teammates so she can be far away from him.
That's not until a specific quest required Yona to enlist Arese's help!
OK, YOU'RE KINDA COOL?
After completing said quest, Yona sees Arese in a different perspective. He's actually kinda nice and fun to be around with and the tips he shares are useful to her! Yeah, there's a price to pay and Yona weighs out the pros and cons with every minute she spends around him.
Sure, he's a little rough and has that 'i'm dangerous' vibe to him but honestly - Yona doesn't care. He makes her feel something and it's a new feeling for her. So, she puts up with him, listens to him, converses with him and just stops ignoring him.
LET'S GO DO SOMETHING FUN!
As their relationship gets better, Yona and Arese do start working together such as stealing and gathering information at other places. Though Arese mostly does his work alone, he does let Yona tag along or even help him. And yeah, they do have fun! Especially since it tends to help Yona's itching tendency to steal from things.
They start flirting naturally, having good flow conversations and at one point, Yona thinks she might have just caught feelings for the NPC that she had always thought to be annoying.
But Yona's used to keeping a good distance between herself and others, putting up a wall and trust that the only person she can ever fully put her trust in is her and her alone.
She's asked Arese before about relationships so she knows well enough that he's not the type to stick around for too long. As these feelings of hers for Arese keep on growing and getting harder to understand, she thinks it's for the best if she puts a lid on them and pretend they don't exist.
She doesn't want to get hurt just when she's starting to trust someone after all.

Yona dislikes Arese at first but due to some incidents (maybe them having to work together for certain quest(s)?), they start getting closer and Yona finds him to be kinda sorta attractive. These two aren't the best of friends but Yona has run into Eunhye a couple of times considering the other girl is part of the student council committee.
Eunhye is one of the rare people who comes up to Yona first and tries to talk to her which Yona often keeps as short as possible.
Eunhye has let Yona slip by unnoticed, preventing her from getting detention or suspensions on a few occasions so Yona thinks Eunhye is cool enough to hang around with if the girl wasn't so busy all the time.
AFTER
After they arrive in AB, their personas continue to clash seeing as how Eunhye's role was 'righteous' while Yona was 'baddie' just as they were before. But, Eunhye's cheerful persona rubs off on Yona.
Yona would be the one to point out ways Eunhye can hone her skills and give out beginner pointers when they're still at the starting point. And these two would spar from time to time to help each other's skill stats increase.
Eunhye would be the first person to notice Yona's impulse to steal and would always be the one to help her return the items to their owners, pretending she found them. She's easier to trust since she's a knight after all and Yona uses that to their advantage.
When Eunhye was scared of these new skills of her at first, Yona would calm her down and teach her the basics to control her newfound strength and other skills.
In short, Yona would watch over Eunhye like a proud older sister once they start bonding.

Throughout her days in high school, Yona never got along with Sarang - ever. Whenever the two would cross paths, they would never fail to argue and bicker about everything and anything. They insult each other to no end that they're practically have a cat-and-dog relationship - they just seemed to hate each other.
Their relationship once they're in the game takes time to change since they're so used to arguing and disliking each other all the time. Undoubtly, this pair would be the most difficult to work with each other! Their arguments would cause the other members headaches and sighs since they just didn't know when to stop unless someone were to step in.
But somewhere between getting transported into an unknown dimension together and having to forcibly work together for their own survival, Yona and Sarang manage to find middleground and some sort of peace between the two after spending awkward quality time and a session where they managed to open up about each other's struggles.
Their shift in friendship is a surprise to the rest of the team, to the point the others found it weird how they even managed to form a truce. Both of them are too stubborn to openly admit they're on friendly terms but everyone can see how they've become closer with how their arguments now have a lighter and playful air as well how in tune they are while working together.
