shinya's career as an actor was decided by his parents, so since a young age he had been essentially controlled by someone or something or another. because of his lack of opportunities to take things into his own hands and decide stuff, shinya grew up being quite shy and self-centered (in the hidden way). 

however, with such a shy personality, he was also used to taking care of people rather than letting people take care of him, even though he grew up in a relatively wealthy household, subsequently becoming very responsible. he's also quite gentle, being very flexible under his parents' dominant personality. however, because of his upbringing he also grew up to be very insecure and had an overall pessimist outlook in life.

shinya also has a strong sense of loyalty, regardless of who it was towards. no matter whether it was towards his sister or his parents, he's loyal. he can also be clumsy at times, though that's more of a habit rather than personality trait.

after he moved out of his parents' house to live with his sister though, more of his original character came into play and it was realisd that he apparently really likes to prank his older sister, showing his mischevious side. however, shinya is also an overthinker, which also came about through his pessimist outlook in life. sometimes he drives himself up a wall overthinking, which is extremely unhealthy.

background.  

shinya was the younger son of two actor parents, which essentially shaped his future career path as an actor. he was an average child during his childhood, not necessarily the best at studying or at school but well enough to keep afloat. most of his childhood was occupied with acting lessons anyways, so it didn't really matter.

once he reached 16, his parents started to shuttle him off to auditions, and shinya started to gain fame. his parents were determined to make their son succeed, especially when their older daughter essentially disobeyed their orders. after he graduated from university, he was already working as a model, an actor and a part-time singer with his sister in their duo unit. shinya also decided to live with his sister against his parents' wishes, which he claimed he did so because of rent issues, though he just missed her. 

after her sister's band went on indefinite hiatus, she decided to focus on their duo unit instead and they decided on attempting hexagon to get her career back on track and kickstart his singing career (which he secretly preferred over acting). 

   trivia

likes. 

– sweets. shinya has a notorious sweet tooth that triumph even that of his sister's. 

– anko :: red bean paste. he adds anko to practically everything he could, from ice cream to pudding. 

– coffee :: for some reason he loves coffee. especially latte 

– anime :: he tries to take as many musical anime roles as possible even though his parents hates it. currently obsessed with owari no seraph 

– reading manga :: his favourite passtime 

– seiyuu :: japanese voice actors are his idols and who he aspires to be. his favourite seiyuu is nakamura yuuichi and miyano mamoru 

– japanese supermarkets :: usually at the basements of japanese shopping centres there's this huge food supermarket with all kinds of stuff available for sale, including ready made food and groceries. after he's off work he usually goes there to get dinner.

– japan :: he just loves his country so much. the atmosphere, the culture, the people. everything. 

– kimono :: he secretly loves wearing kimono. shinya often tries to wheedle his stylist into letting him wear kimono to events but often gets rejected. 

dislikes. 

– waking up early :: being a famous actor has its perks; he decides his schedules and refuses to put anything into his schedule that's earlier than 9:00am 

–  the sun :: he hates it when it's too hot and doesn't like sunny weather

– sweating :: ew. he can't stand the stickiness to his skin and the heat. boy is quite sensitive 

– spicy food :: shinya is up for a rude awakening because it's korea and their specialty is spicy food. he's getting better though, but still doesn't particularly like it. 

– uni :: it tastes weird to him and he doesn't like the strong taste of the sea. 

hobbies. 

– drawing :: he's surprisingly a really good manga artist. sometimes he posts his art on twitter and his fans squeal over it 

– singing :: one of his few passions in life

– reading :: he loves reading! manga. okay, but seriously he does read. 

– watching anime 

habits. 

–  napping :: shinya is probably constantly sleep deprived based on how many naps he takes on a daily basis. he can literally collapse anywhere, anytime, as long as it's warm enough and he doesn't have to be on call. 

– moe sode :: shinya unconsciously constantly does moe sode. it's basically when you pull your sleeves up to your palms until only your fingers are visible. it's usually a very soft look 

– blinking sleepily at a lot of things

– yawning 

– he has this resting poker face 24/7. not because he's mad, he just looks like that all the time 

– tiny smiles. need I remind u of how soft he is again?

– dragging out the end of his sentences into a whine. he doesn't do that really on purpose but it happens

– losing his sister. she's literally the only person he feels the most comfortable with (except for one or two others)

– bugs :: shinya doesn't scream or anything he just frantically yeets a slipper at the direction and find a high place to hide 

– horror films :: paying money to purposely scare yourself? no thanks.

– high notes. he's surprisingly good at high notes 

– acting. he'd been an actor for quite a long time, so of course he could act

– boy is soft and gay. he's so soft most of his female senpairs had always expressed the desire to wrap him up in a fluffy blanket and bring him home, much to his older sister's chagrin 

– because he does so much creative work and read so much stuff, shinya has a good sense of imagination and daydreams a lot 

– his secret fantasy is the a/b/o-verse because he feels like he 100% fits the omega stereotype 

– he doesn't listen to kpop much but he does like shinee and super junior. 

– surprisingly can hold his liquor. 

– he goes to akihabara at least twice a month. 

– secretly likes to do cosplay. he met his boyfriend (?)  because the two of them are both cosplay actors (hello baozi hana)

one of the two people who he feels most comfortable with in the whole world. he comes to life when he was talking with his sister, and when he's singing with his sister. yukarin is the one who brings him out of his shell and makes him fall back in love with life.

– boyfriend/best friend :: miyano soushi (26) / actor / caring, sarcastic, blunt / 10/10 / fc: saito souma
shinya met soushi through an anime musical and somehow they bonded over their love of anime and cosplay. soushi is the only one outside of his family that shinya felt he could trust. he's not shinya's boyfriend because neither of them want to put a label on their relationship, but they could be.

– he thought he would go with the same stagename as when he was promoting with his sister, because they're doing that in hexagon anyways

trainee life. 

– shinya didn't go through training the way korean trainees did, he was just thrown into the entertainment industry as an actor. 

idol life. 

– being an actor, shinya has more flexible 'working hours' in that he wasn't necessarily horded by fans or rely entirely on them to make a living. rather, he sticks to a rather outlined schedule by going to the acting site, working, and going home, occassionally attending press conferences etc. 

– because japanese fans aren't as crazy as korean fans even if shinya was an a-list actor, he felt actually really comfortable as an actor. he regarded it as a rather desirable lifestyle, and didn't want to switch all-time to singing, even though that was his passion.

life on hexagon. 

– shinya just somewhat fades to the background. his looks do stand out, and his history as an actor do raise whispers amongst the trainees, but really, in all other areas of being a trainee he doesn't stand out at all. aside from his singing.

what made you want to become an idol?

– i only joined because of my sister. and i wanted to try something new.

why did you decide to join hexagon?. 

– my sister wanted to re-ignite her career and I want to try singing as well.

what would you consider your best skill?. 

– singing and acting. 

what kind of concept or concepts are you best at?. 

– traditional japanese ones. anime? and maybe jrock.

is there anything you would like to try on hexagon? anything new?. 

– um...I would like to try dancing. we do do dancing for anime musicals, but it's not like the korean type. kpop dancing is an entirely different matter. 

what is a quote that you live by? a life motto. 

– keep going until you hit something. then go upwards.
