APPEARANCE : 

— Astrid is usually classified as a tall girl, mostly all leg, oh! With an hourglass shaped body. She'd got wavy, shoulder-length blonde hair with blue streaks littered in there somewhere. Though, naturally, Astrid is a brunette. Astrid can be remembered for her hazel colored eyes, rounded button nose, and full lips. Astrid sports a c-cup bust size which is remarkable to her perpetrators. Like, how does she just run around with those all day? Normally, Astrid carries various scratches and scars. Sometimes she has bruises too. This line of work is complicated after all. She has a permanent scar running under the right side of her ribcage to her hip bone but she'll never tell the story of how she got it.
— Astrid has a spinal tattoo that reminds her of her birth mother; around, but somewhere she can't necessarily see. Astrid has another tattoo, a half sleeve on her right upper arm. She has a third tattoo in between her s of a vertical elipsis, signaling that no matter what she goes through, her story continues in one way or another. Finally, she has a tattoo on her ring finger of the queen card suit, while her partner has the king card suit tattooed on his ring finger. 
— Astrid has no other piercings beside standard ear lobe piercings. 

FASHION STYLE :

— A lot of Astrid's clothes are black. Black crop tops, black jeans, black shorts, black skirts, black sweaters, black over coats, black hair ties, black accessories, black shoes, you name it. If you categorize her style it'd be among the grunge/alternative group. 


  



— Though, when she's out on missions her usual getup is a skin-tight black long sleeve top, black skinny jean jeggings -- so that they're easy to move around in, of course -- Black lace up boots. Her look is usually finished off with a black hooded cloak, thigh holsters/equipment holsters for any weapons (her extendable, metal bo staff) or extra deck of playing cards.
Her hair is normally worn in a tight french braid down the center, so that it's out of the way. On occassions, she wears a black cap underneath her hood.

PERSONALITY :

"Uhm, I think you could be holding the gun you shot me with and I'd still find a way to sacrifice my life for you."  To her dying breath, Astrid would go to the ends of the world to do her absolute best, if only for the people she cares about. It doesn't matter that you choose to betray or backstab her, she's in no position to judge you for what you've chosen to do. People come and go and though an action may hurt her, she won't allow anybody to see that of her. She wants to be the bigger person of the equation; finish the job and show her true feelings when nobody is around to see. #concealdon'tfeel, #don'tletthemknow 

"Nah-Uh, we're not quitting this thing until we've got it down."  Ever think of quitting? Not around Astrid. Astrid's motto is to go through anything she starts from beginning to end. She bares no fear in the face of death, which is commendable as well as wreckless and stupid. But in all seriousness, Astrid has the intellect to make straightforward, hard choices in the moment which is also something people look to her for. Its admirable that she's willing to put her foot down to get through any situation so long as she wills herself.

"You may think this is a joke because you're laughing, but you won't be laughing when my fist connects with your nose."  However, Astrid can have a really sharp tongue. She tends to say things she doesn't mean in the moment, and she isn't afraid to get up into people's faces. That's something that her group may need when they're not in the mood or up for confrontation (or in other cases, she's learned to be the voice to people who just can't say what they want to say; if you're her home girl and somebody has done you wrong, she will waste no time in correcting that wrong said person did to you). Astrid just thinks It's not right when somebody picks on somebosy who doesn't have the will or heart to defend themselves. 

"I dont get it...just-- how the can people be so...evil natured? Why can't we all just get along?"  Astrid spends several sleepless nights up thinking about how evil the world is. It brings her to tears on how absolutely dangerous stepping outside is and it just shouldn't be that way. She just wants to hug the homeless, donate all her earnings to charities, house all the earths strays. Astrid wants to be the earth's mother, she wants to spread herself thin and releif all those who need it. But she's only mutant, and unfortuantely she can't spread herself that thin. It's heartbreaking.

"You think pointing that thing at me is going to scare me?"  As stated earlier on, Astrid has no fear in the eye of death or when confronting somebody. The reason being is because she truly hates the world. She wouldn't mind leaving a world so corrupt and that's why she isn't scared of the bad things. Because, being fearless also allows her to support and be there for people on their bad days. Being fearless often puts her enemies at a loss of how to attack her. After all, how do you go after somebody with no fears?

", I've only got twenty dollars to spare and I'm really craving a pizza. I don't think I should...but I am."  Astrid tends to do A LOT of things on a whim. It doesn't matter what the consequences are, or if she'll fall behind on rent or get kicked out because "that's part of living life to the fullest". 

"Don't talk about that. Don't ever talk about it around me."  It's not like she's been through a traumatic experience, but she knows what the world is capable of giving people, how mean and how unfair people can be. She's traumatized from all the bad things in the world because she's too empathetic, and she can't do anything about it. When issues of the world are brought up, she tends to turn away from them because if she doesn't, she'll turn into a big ing mess. Nobody wants to be in her presence when she is. Topics that are sensitve to her are talks of , hunger, homeless, to list a few. She hates politics and can't handle authority that doesn't work for ALL of its citizens.

"Oooh yeah, I just did that!"  Above all else, Astrid gloats often about things she does and acomplishes. "I mean, what's the use of being able to do something and not actually celebrating it, even the small things, you know?" People don't take her serious because of this, and it's almost like a whiplash to some because Astrid's overall image is sullen and when she starts getting riled up it's werid, its different and it's not her. But, the reasoning behind being complacent is because it's the one thing she has. It'sw the real feeling of being alone, and having nobody there to cheer you on. It's her own example of how rude the world is.  But not many people see it.

BACKGROUND :

Astrid was born in Breckenridge, Colorado to her birth mother, Eunice Kwon at 2:54am at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center. At the time, Eunice had taken leave from work. Though, people never suspected Eunice to have such a wild life before her daughter; people didn't know her at all. Eunice, otherwise known by her Alias, Juku is a mutant who was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent for nearly a decade up until she went into her last trimester. It was agreed upon that she needed the time to be a mother. But, Eunice wanted more than that. She wanted to leave her work behind to take care of her daughter because she was unsure if her daughter would ingerit her mutant gene since her father, Aster Lee was human. Whatever the outcome, she wanted a normal life for Astrid. S.H.I.E.L.D did all the work necessary for her to dissapear, so when time came to give birth, nobody questioned her. 

As for Aster, he was a human. A school teacher who took pride and joy in watching and instilling knowledge so that they could flourish. It was his calling, and something he was good at. Aster met Eunice on the off chance when the school he taught at was under lockdown because of a bank robbery doen the block. He didn't come in contact with Eunice that day, but he did catch Eunice's eye when he ran out to retrieve students from the courtyard to take them to a more secured place. Those students were his priority, but once they were where they needed to be, he went a step further to alert passerby's without making a commotion and seeing that they got someplace safe. Eunice had never really seen somebody go out of their way for the sake of others. She made sure to remember his face, she'd find his name later. And, she did. Two days later, Eunice made contact. She stopped by his school and waited until he came out, twenty past four pm. He would never forget the way she approached him; "I've never known anybody to be so selfless." He was confused at the comment. "The other day, when there was a bank robbery." It was clear that he didn't know what she was refering to, so she clarified. He didn't know where she was going with it, so he entertained her thoughts. They had dinner at his place, he offered. But they were both surprised with how well things went. When she was set to leave she was going to do so without giving him any contact information so when he commented about it she told him she'd get a hold of him. He was even more confused about this but he let her have this one. 

Eunice didn't really expect for Aster to become somebody important to her. He instantly became a liability to her line of work, but she wouldn't have had it any different because she wasn't going to ignore the obvious. When they were around each other, it's like the world paused just for them. Sooner than later, she needed to reveal how it was she came to know and obtain who he was. When she revealed it was because of her connections, and job, he surprised her with, "I know. When I thought back to it I could remember it for a split second, your face. And I'm not mad, I appreciate you telling me, being honest with me." 
Eunice was...in awe of this man. He was everything she'd never thought she'd find for herself. On September 28th, 1992 Aster asked her to marry him, and she said yes. There isn't any other thing she could have said. Nothing would hold her back from a future so perfect. So put together. She could finally dream again, with this blessing. 

After their wedding in January, Aster and Eunice conceived Astrid within the last week of February. For the first part of her pregnancy, Eunice stopped taking missions from S.H.I.E.L.D. They started to notice that, and brought it to her attention. She had to then, tell S.H.I.E.L.D about her personal life, she had to trust them with her turest self which she later knew was the right thing to do. They offered her their protection and help wherever she may need it, but when she came closer to her due date, Eunice decided it was time to  quit altogether. She was going to act as a regular human so long as her daughter remained human, too.  S.H.I.E.L.D  let her go. They assisted her in any way they could as a final goodbye, and she promsed that they would be her first call if something happened or if she saw something worthy of their attention. For the first time in her life, Eunice was content with her life.  She did exactly what was told of her for the remainder of her pregnancy.

When Astrid was born, things for her parents changed. They were free to live like normal people for once. Though it was a bit weird to adjust to, they did so anyway. They were blessed with this baby girl, this human baby girl. They were going to lead their lives as such. Growing up, Astrid had no problems. She was happy, she had a lot of questions, but she was no different than any other girl her age. Eunice had to pick up a job when Astrid started school because they wouldn't be able to live on just Aster's salary anymore. Eunice applied to a job at a super market near home. Though it was a different pace of work she was used to, it was refreshing and kept her busy when Astrid was away at school. 
However, when Astrid turned eight, there was a shift in her that Eunice began to notice. It had nothing to do with the fact that she'd recently been bumped up a grade and knew nobody in her class, but it was more of an activation in her dna. Something that had been there, dormant was now awake. She couldn't ignore it. 

It happened when she was in chemistry class. She can't ever really recall how or what triggered her, but it was some immense powers surging through her. It wasn't a familial problem, it wasn't a problem with former friends, it was a struggle she'd been trying to contain. It was finally ready to burst inside her and take her with it. She remembers picking up the test tube, and how a sharp pain shot through her head, down her spine, and through her legs. She shook violently and the glass shattered in her hand, blood trickled down her arm and onto her dress but she could care less. She collapsed to the ground with screams resonating through the room. When she came to, she was in the hospital. Her parents were arguing with the doctor. It was heated, and they didn't notice she was awake until they were yanking her out of the bed. The ride to wherever they were taking her to was quiet, and uncomfortable. They were a family who shared everything. There wasn't time in their day for silence, but here she was...laying in her mothers lap. Her father was in the passenger's seat and the man driving was dressed in black, he wore an eye patch. Fury, they called him. 

When they arrived, they parked someplace underground. Various doctors surrounded them and began grabbing at her when she reached the tower. She was scared, and it was one of the most traumatic things she had to have gone through. Her parents kept yelling as they wheeled her off, and she couldn't grab the courage to call out to them. She was a coward, and went along with these people said, if only so they'd let her go with her parents in peave later on. They poked her with all kinds of needles and took countless tests. Tests she'd never read up on in class, or been told about. She was alone in each and every examination room, and just when she thought she couldn't handle it anymore, they placed her in a white room with a bed and finally her parents walked in. She clung to them like it would be the last things she would ever do and she cried. They told her everything that happened, what they tested her for, and why she was here in the first place. The revelation of her own mothers secret shook her to her core. She was angry. How could her mother have kept this from her? How dare she. On their hands, a mad child who could not control her new powers. There was the taste of blood in . She knew she had to calm down or she'd hurt her parents. One breath, two breaths. The next few weeks were living hell. All things considered, her life was about to change more than it already had. She wasn't allowed outside of the building. She was catered to, saw her parents less and less until they stopped showing up. Perhaps they didn't care, or perhaps they couldn't stand how she looked at them each and every time. They trained her each and every day, long and hard. They told her that if she ever ran away, the government would find her and they'd put an end to her if she wasn't careful. They threatened her a lot. She hated it there, but she hated moreso how people like her were shunned. She hated this, her life, what it had come to be. Astrid stopped fighting them and began to work with them. What she'd been waiting for was finally handed to her. On her sixteenth birthday, they assigned her first mission; a recovery mission. It was the first time she'd get to leave the S.H.I.E.L.D head quarters since she'd gotten there, and how good that felt.  They trusted her, and she finally had the confidence to weild her own powers of her volition. The outcomes would be endless.

Though their relations have drifted, both Aster and Eunice are her parents. She loves and cares for them, but it's just easier doing her life as far away from them as possible. Now, that doesn't mean she doesn't see them anymore, she still does but it's just hard to be completely her around them. She doesn't trust them, not since she figured out her powers.

Though Jean probably thinks Astrid doesn't like her, it's the complete opposite. Jean is proabbly one of the only people she likes to have around. As much as Astrid won't want to admit it, she loves Jean's sarcasm.
Not to mention, they share a similar outlook on Natasha, though not for the same reason. As for Jean's romance life, she's been around long enough to see some of the developements transpire. She uses the term of endearment banner uses for her out of pure mock, when she knows Jean is in the mood to tussle. In reality, she loves Jean like a sister she never had. She wants Jean tobe safe and happy. That takes top priority.

Its true. Everything that Embla has become and went through to get to where she is today, Astrid respects it. 
Not to mention, Embla is somebody Astrid wishes she could be. She's grateful to Embla, however for always reminding Astrid about the bigger picture, how she is perfect as is, and will grow with each and every situation life presents to her. She's Astrid's stone, probably the only person Astrid can let loose with. She knows Astrids ticks more than
Astrid knows them.

From the second her parents stopped showing up at the facility, he stepped up. He somehow knew that what Astrid needed most was a parental figure. Somebody who wouldn't give up on her, and continuously support her growth as a mutant. There was discussion to send Astrid to Charles Xaviers school, but Fury stood against it. He took Astrid under his wing, visited her frequently and gave her the old tough love; the nick fury way.

A lot of who Astrid is, is thanks to Maria. She spent a lot of her time training and shadowing Maria. In a way, Maria helped harden Astrids resolve, and redied her for the world she would go back out to. She wouldn't go as far to say Maria was like a mother to her, but she was. Come on. Whenever Astrid had something she need to ask, or quetioned because of her gender, Maria was there to help her through and explain things.

They are civil with each other, but Astrid makes it especially clear that she is not going to play nice with Natasha. The reason being Astrid doesn't like Natasha is because of the way she came to S.H.I.E.L.D in the first place, and how easily she can con people. Sure, for S.H.I.E.L.D definitely a big help, but how is it when nobody can quite get into her mind to make sre she'd never betray them? Whatever, Astrid doesn't trust her. She probably never will.  She also is pretty salty with her considering the side she chose, which was against steve and bucky.

Out of all the avengers, clint is one of her favorites. She especially loves his humor and can be caught laughing at it when it's the right moment. She admires his marksman ability and is floored by his overall skills. She's had the pleasure to work with him several times, and always looks forward to it. They're the type of pair that can go out to the bar after hours for some de-stress time and not have to talk to each other if they don't want to. They get each other's social cue's.

It's a little surprising how much she likes Peter. Sure, he talks a lot, bt so does wade. She's come to know that she likes people who can keep a conversation going as opposed to people who don't.  Not to mention, they have the same taste in movies. When he rips out a joke or reference, Astrid knows instantaneously what he's talking about and they'll totally just be on the same page. Besides, this is the only other guy that wade absolutely fan boys over, so wade's really the entire reason why she met up with peter in the first place, and she can see why the two are friends. She's quite the fan of peter's now too.

Astrid is a mutant human with the power to convert the potential energy stored in inanimate objects into pure light kinetic energy, furthermore, "changing" that item into something with highly explosive result. Ultimately, the time it takes to charge smaller items is quicker, so it so she's always equipped with a pack of playing card; not to mention, they are easier to throw. Astrid is only able to "charge" said items by skin contact alone. 
The power of the explosion debends highly on the mass of the object she charges. Her playing card, for example can explode with the force of a grenade. Astrid also uses her mutant ability to accelerate an items kinetic energy instead of converting its energy. For example, she can charge her Bo staff with enough kinetic energy and power to level a house. 

Because Astrid can tap into kinetic energy, it also grants her incredible superhuman attributes (strength, speed, reflexes and reactions, agility, flexibility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance), as her body constantly generates bio-kinetic energy and so is perfectly constructed for constant motion. This gives her an added edge that she uses to her advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style. 

The charged potential energy always in her body grants her the ability to build up charges of static electricity, and shields her mind from detection and intrusion by even the strongest and most powerful telepaths such as Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and even Charles Xavier.  The shield has the added effect of destabalizing touch-based abilities.

Astrid posseses an unusually strong and irrisitable hypnotic charm that allows her to exert a subtle influence over sentinent beings, leading them to believe what she says and agrees with suggestions. This charm is so strong and powerful that if given the chance, she'd be able to charm the shadow king himself. The charm however, doesn't work on people who already know about it. 

After an encounter with an enemy, Astrid was able to convert intial materials into toxic substances (such as transforming breathable air into poisonous gases) and has the potential to ingest diseases and plagues. Through that confontation, Astrid was also able to attain Death Charge, which fuled her projectiles with darker energiest that have the effect of disintigrating or entraping beings within her cards.

At her full stength and power, Astrid can controll all aspects of kinetic energy down to even the molecular level, allowing her to manipulate the potency of her bio-kinetic energy burn, cause molecular discomfort, incinerate, create timed detonations (and manipulate the potency of energy release), fire energy blasts, defy gravity, heal wounds, charge objects within her line of sight without contact, and effectively exist as an energy being. Under such conditions, she holds sufficient power to cause another being to be unable to move -- or unable to stop, if in motion. She has been able to cause or simulate various energies by manipulating the kinetic energy present, such as infrared and microwaves, by increasing molecular agitation, or cold by reducing it. She was also able to use her powers to travel through space-time, cross dimensions, and remake realities outside of space-time by transforming herself into living energy which joined with the kinetic flow. Finally, she was able to heal herself by stimulating her cellular activity. However, all those abilities have burnt out. She has since, returned to her lower power levels. 

weaknesses : 

— Because of a previous encounter with an enemy; Astrid's mental state suffered greatly for a while. She's since restored herself, but will struggle going back and forth between herself and a more, "darker" version of herself. As stated above, Astrid has the potential to convert intial materials into toxic substances (such as transforming breathable air into poisonous gases) and can even ingest diseases and plagues. Astrid had also attained her power, Death Charge, which fuled her projectiles with darker energiest that have the effect of disintigrating or entraping beings within her cards; a power she restrains herself from using. 
Fighting this off is like having to fight another person inside yourself  for control. 
— People who are aware of her charm, are unaffected by it. 
— Can only see/use forsight with the aide of tarot cards and may even only see significant events that can't be changed. 

combat & weaponry : 

During comabt, Astrid takes to wearing a suit of highly articulated light body armor and uses an extended metal staff. She is extensively trained in Martial Arts, particularly Savate and the staff style art Bōjutsu. Astrid is an excellent hand-to-hand comabtant, applying street fighting techniques and acrobatics. Astrid is a master card thrower, so when she throws her charged playing-cards, she throws them with great accuracy.  Not as surprising, Astrid also excels at theivery.

history : 

—"I had mutant dna inside me my whole life. I was a natural born freak, they just didn't kick in until I was the freak in science class that could explode a test tube." Astrid shrugs her shoulders. "You should have seen the look on their faces." But then she trails off, "I was raised among the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D from that point forward. Trained to stand besides you brats." And though she says it, she only means it as a tease, because she's proud that she's gotten this far and that she can be able to do these things with great people.  

— Having a mutant mother and human father, at first her parents were very unsure with what they were dealt. Since she didn't show much signs of harboring mutant genes in the first part of her life, they brushed the topic off and raised her like a regular human. However, reaching her eighth year in live, her own abilities began to emerge. 
She was at school, and things started to feel unnatural. It was like her insides were bending and breaking at odd angles and it was overwhelming to say the least. She was beyond scared, because she genuinely thought she was dying. The class was in the chemistry lab that day. Astrid felt like the entire class was watching her; test tube and thermometer in hand she raised it over the bunsen burner but the entire thing crackled and blood trickled down her hands. A part of her shattered, too and the world went black for her. 

Onlookers to the situation were shocked. One second Astrid was standing still, test tube over the burner but then her breathing took a heavy turn, her chest heaved and her partner began to worry. He called the teacher over but as she reached the pair the test tube shattered in her hands, thermometer snapped in half and just like that, she was out for the count. Astrid fell to the floor in fits and twitches. It was like nothing the teacher had seen in her years of teaching. It was something that some of the children would never forget. For the teacher, it was the last thing she needed to end her career. She went into a frenzy and was unable to ease the children. Astrid was carried out of the room and transfered to the nearest hospital. When her parents got to the hospital they were made aware of the situation, they refused service and took her into their care.
Eunice was sure that this was what they had been waiting for, hoping would never happen. This was the first time any of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents met with the mother, Eunice Kwon; not the mutant, EU. This situation opened up Eunice's personal life with her significant other and child, a life she never wished to open to her employers. But this was a situation that they needed to adjust to. For Astrid's sake. 
The family waited and waited, test after test, on the edge of their seats until finally the best doctors at the facility could tell them what they already knew. Eunice and Aster relenquished guardianship to Astrid several months later, for her own safety, they were not equiped to help Astrid, when they wanted the best life for her. 

They trained her to use her powers and to become a better fighter, able to defend if they ever needed her. On occassion they send her on missions, but she's never been a person to adore staying in one place too long so she goes on her own accord too. She's little miss rebel.

COMMENTS : ACK. I pray each and every day for the x-men to join the mcu and to have a bomb gambit but until then, my character will have to suffice. So, if it wasn't clear yet, that's who my character is based off of. I saw a lot of foreign chcaracters, so I also thought that mcu should have more rep. for asians at least. (': I have wiki to thank for all of the abilities/power section lol. Hope you like Astrid!
