» working out -- before he began solo promotions, dsp media nudged jeonguk to start working out and he did! he started working out with with jaewon to a point that he loves doing it.

» long showers -- jeonguk is known to take long showers. no matter if it's a needed shower or just a quick rinse, he takes forever.

» lying tics -- jeonguk is a terrible liar. you know all those stereotypical lying tells? like looking to the left and hand fidgeting? jeonguk does all that.

» nicknames -- jeonguk has a habit of calling everyone by a nickname.

» sneaking -- a habit that he still hasn't quite grown out of, but he tends to find himself sneakily sleep walking into the other members' bed and snuggling with them in the night.

FEARS

» supernatural -- going hand-in-hand with scary movies, jeonguk is sort of scared of anything that can be considered or grouped into supernatural things (can compare him to exo's tao).

» lonliness -- jeonguk has always been surrounded by people growing up. between his family and his group, he was never alone. since going solo and his group disbanding, he hates the crippling fear that he'll never have that same feeling of being all together again... the feeling of being in a group once more.

» saesangs -- jeonguk hasn't ever mentioned about dreaded saesangs, but ever since he started solo promotions, he finally understood what a saesang was. he has came across his fair share of saesangs over the years and he'd like to keep them far away from himself as much as he can.

TALENTS

» dancing -- quite self-explanatory really.

» duality -- it has to be a talent to go from a loud sunshine-y boy to a sensual god in .5 seconds flat. the talent of a performer.

» puppy dog eyes -- much like any other maknae, jeonguk has great use of them to get want he wants.

» losing things -- can you consider it a talent when things just keep going missing under his hands? things tend to go missing when they've been in his hand. for the record, jeonguk has lost four phones since starting his solo promotions. yeah, just think about that. he has also lost about a dozen earbuds and even lost a few airpods.

TRIVIA

» never fails to mention his parents in his thank you speeches. doesn't ever forget vive either.

» jeonguk fully supports the lgbt+ community.

» jeonguk is very much a social butterfly and is friends with almost at least one member of every group (think of bang chan from stray kids).

» vive used to have a dorm together and jeonguk roomed with junho, but after the group's disbandment, some member decided to find their own place. though, currently, jeonguk still dorms with daeil and jaewon in the old vive dorm.

» jaewon and jeonguk have a gym workout routine that they never miss out on. they usually film it and post them on jeonguk's instagram for the fans. sometimes you may even spot daeil supervising them (and never working out with them). it's rare, but sometimes junho will join them as well.

father, mother, & two older siblings

the nam family is a close knit one. his father (taehyun) and mother (miyoung) are a sweet couple that own their own convenience store that is quite popular. jeonguk also has two older siblings: jonghyun (his older brother who works as a martial arts instructor) and heejin (his older sister who works as a librarian). everyone may be doing their own thing, but they all live close by and check in on each other all the time. everyone is supportive of jeonguk and his accomplishments.

when jeonguk began doing solo promotions, dsp media thought that he should have his own personal manager to help run things smoothly. at first, jeonguk didn't know why he was given his own manager when hamin right there, but jeonguk soon came to appreciate melody's presence. a woman who grew up in the states, melody was someone you did not want to mess with, especially on a bad day. she always makes sure jeonguk gets to his schedules on time and protects from rabid fans and insensitive reporters.

she's a great drinking buddy, really she can outdrink almost anybody, but she also knows when to get strict and tell jeonguk when it's time to rest. she's like a second mother. she was the one to give jeonguk the information about genesis88, knowing how much he missed being in a group setting again.

the sweet ol manager of vive that also got the short end of the stick when vive disbanded. he had been with the group since the very beginning. he was sweet and maybe just a little bit of a pushover, letting the boys of vive get away with a lot of stuff. he was vive's main cheerleader, always cheering them on and screaming just like all their fans.

but don't mistake him for a weakling as he had tons of moments of fighting dsp media to get vive more promotions and concerts. despite vive disbanding in the end and now being a manager of dsp media's newest boy group, he still is rather close with all the members and likes to catch up with them with a drink from time to time.

vive may have started out as five originally, but they welcomed jeonguk with open arms and everyone became thick as thieves. sure all of them argued from time to time and not get along, they were all different ages of course! but at the end of the day, they were brothers and one big family. they may not have been the most popular, but the memories they made together would hold a special place in their hearts.

» park junho, 1989 -- the father of vive, the group's old man. despite all the nicknames the members would call him, he loved his miscretants and wouldn't change them for the world. he has a caring heart with a possessive streak (as why he was known as the reporter chewer as he would chew out reporters for asking insensitive questions to his band members). he was the second member to go into the military after their last comeback, already knowing what was going to be the outcome of their group. he still regularly speaks with the members and hangs out when he can. he's currently working at dancing studio. he may not be singing and doing idol work, but he still keeps up with his dancing. he sees jeonguk as one of his kids, a son if you will. jeonguk is the reason he wants kids. he's currently in a relationship and thinking about proposing soon.

» kim daeil, 1990 -- the shortest member of vive, kim daeil is a fierce mama bear (as the fans affectionately used to call him) because he always fiercely protected the members whenever junho wasn't around. despite the protectiveness and tattoos, he's quite soft with the members of vive, letting himself relax and mother hen everyone. he dotes on jeonguk the most and has a special connection with the male, hence why he still stays in the dorm with him and jaewon. he's still under dsp media, currently working a vocal instructor under the company.

» bae hyunjae, 1992 -- hyunjae was an old soul with a rapping tone that certainly didn't match his pretty visuals. he was also known as beau, an up-and-coming underground rapper that dsp media snatched up with a real good deal. hyunjae, ultimately being a people pleaser, let dsp media guide him into the idol world and debuting in vive. he wasn't used to all the attention towards his visuals, but the boys of vive helped him come to realize that he much more than his visuals and grow confident in himself. he usually keeps to himself, a major introvert that likes to hang back and let others do the talking. he currently works as a producer and likes to post samples on soundcloud.

» im dongjun, 1993 -- out of the members of vive, dongjun always felt like the odd one out. he was quiet, but not the homey quiet like hyunjae. he was the most awkward one when it came to fansigns and interviews, always trying to nervous laugh his way out of answering questions. dongjun is just a misunderstood soul. he was blessed with a great voice and an amazing body, but maybe he wasn't ready for the idol world, but he continued to push himself. the members of vive tried to comfort him whenever they could, but ultimately, they weren't surprised when he was the first one to enter his military service after snake promotions which lead to him leaving the group afterwards. the departure was sad, but it was something the group was prepared for. finally, dongjun could relax and look after himself. dongjun has been preparing to re-enter the entertainment world as a ballad singer.

» moon jaewon, 1994 -- very much the class clown, it's never a dull moment when jaewon is around. he makes sure to keep a smile on everyone's face everywhere he goes (just like a certain maknae *winkwink*). jeonguk and jaewon are inseperable, instantly becoming the best of friends within the first few weeks jeognuk was added to the group. the troublesome duo (as fans and daeil call them) are known to prank their hyungs nonstop, making it a game to see who can do the most pranks within a day. it's surprising no one has (naturally) gray hair yet because of them. jaewon works as a rap instructor at dsp media and also as a producer. he's the one in most contact with hyunjae and they like to collab from time to time.

jeonguk first met kitae a long time ago. 2lite and vive go way back, especially since both groups both debut in 2012. along the way, their promotions would overlap and of course they all became rather good friends. both groups were in the same boat, of being overshadowed by other more saturated groups.

he isn't that overly close with kitae, his older members were more into his circle of friends than he was, but they still supported each other. though he hadn't met up with him or spoken to him for quite awhile until they met on the show...and to say that jeonguk was upset about his group's situation is putting it lightly.

jeonguk may not know the full story, but from what he can see, he's very upset about how kitae is handling the situation. what he sees is a group that is still together, despite no more original members are a part of it, meanwhile jeonguk doesn't have one any longer.

jeonguk and blanche first met backstage during a music show cause they were both promoting their debut tracks around the same time. they got along pretty nicely as both have very outgoing personalities and they are the same age.

they've been drinking together, as friends, and they feel close enough to disclose personal feelings and thoughts together. jeonguk was generally happy to see his friend on the show and hopes the both get what they want in the end.

STAGE NAME

» gukkie, 국키 -- what started out as a cute nickname became his stage name. dsp media thought it matched his age, since he was only seventeen turning eighteen in the year he debut. even though he's grown over the years, certainly outgrowing the name, but jeonguk continues to keep the name, not wanting to throw away his past with his group.

GROUP NAME

» vive, 비이브 -- usually stylized in all caps, their group name has two meanings. vive is a mixture of vibe (meaning a distinctive feeling or quality) and the number five (as they originally debuted with five members). the five meaning was lost when gukkie was added, but then they picked up the meaning after jun left the group.

BRIEF GROUP HISTORY

briefly known as dsp boyz, the members of vive had a lot to live up. the original boy group under dsp was SS501 and vive was trained to succeed them. dsp media did a lot of media play, trying to boost their popularity, but in their hindsight, they should have realized that this approach would backfire when their songs proved to be quite lackluster.

it wasn't until the addition of a new member, gukkie, was added to the lineup just in time for a new song that got fan's attention. sure, it wasn't the most popular song, but it was interesting and unique and the new maknae was adorable!

though vive as a group still didn't get the popularity that dsp media thought they'd get once added gukkie to the lineup. they were still flying under the radar though... gukkie was the member gathering fans... maybe if they pushed him out more...?

that was just the beginning of vive's downfall. pushing gukkie into the spotlight, the rest of the group fell into the shadows. dsp media tried to push vive towards japan, but even going that route didn't help them.

then the end of march happened, even during gukkie's promotions for d.c.y.e, dsp media announced the disbandment of vive.

jeonguk was only sixteen when he joined dsp media. he was considered a baby amongst most trainees, but because of his talen in dancing, many of the other trainees didn't know how to approach him.

but it didn't bother jeonguk that much since he introduced himself to everyone and many trainees just let the boy do his thing. it wasn't like they could get too mad at him, sure he was pretty talented and taking instructors' attention from them, but jeonguk was so happy and sunshine-y. how could you be mad at that?

due to his skill set, dsp media had their eyes on him and within a year, they rushed him to debut and added him to their existing boy group and the rest is history.

LIFE ON GENESIS88

jeonguk will blossom on the show.

despite his group not being very popular, jeonguk is a rather known name. at the beginning of the show, many of the contestants will know him and be in awe because of course they would, he's a known great dancer!

meanwhile, jeonguk would be happy that he's surrounded by people again, people that might be future groupmates! he doesn't mind that a lot of the contestants are younger than him, way younger. he can still make new friends and even help with dancing and singing tips, especially since he's performed and promoted before!

with that said, he'd definitely be an older figure to younger bubs, especially with males. his friendly and outgoing personality would make him approachable for them to ask him questions. he'd also be popular with the girls of the show, for several reasons, and might be some girls' picks for being attractive inside and out.

meanwhile, watchers will love to a new side of jeonguk. everyone knows how he's used to being in the spotlight and a spoiled maknae, now he's taking on a more leadership like position whether he senses it or not.

THE AUDITION

some people were expecting jeonguk to perform one of his previous tracks or possibly an unreleased one, but jeonguk decided to surprise everyone with his own rendition of kai's mmmh.

the least to say, the performance was sensual and tantalizing and had everyone left in awe.

was there any problems? sure. maybe at the beginning, jeonguk was still somewhat nervous (what? he can still be nervous, anyone can, really) and may have faltered few sensual-esque moves, but he quickly fixed himself and continued his performance which showed his professionalism.
