if you were to walk around inside the dal media building and ask people about jane moon, there'd be two kinds of answers given to you: "she's an amazing person." and "she's a ."

a hardworking person, the devil works hard but jane works harder, especially if it means she'll be rewarded with everything she has ever wished for at the end, which isn't much really, a stable life while following her dreams, solid friendship and a happy, healthy and successful group that's treated equally. laziness is not a word that can be associated with jane moon, and she makes that known to everybody by her skills and the way she presents herself on stage, singing her parts with no voice cracks nor wavers while executing the dance the best way she could. if something needs to be done, it will be done and she will make sure of that. she possesses a strong sense of determination, is able to prioritize tasks, set realistic goals and create effective plans to follow through on her commitments.

surface-level jane moon, however, can come across as a bit aloof and detached. a common sighting of jane moon would be her walking down the hallways of the dal media building on her way to her next class, with her airpods in and a stoic, almost judging expression on her face, the sound of her boots clacking away on the pristine marble flooring echoing through the small hallway. and it's mainly upon this sighting that they think she's a cold and unapproachable person. that's not a wrong observation but it's not fully right either. jane maintains a certain distance and reserve in her interactions at first, preferring to observe and analyze the person in front of her before getting into an animated conversation.

this aloofness mainly stems from her preferring to be independent. sure, she's an extrovert, she gains energy through time spent with people, but like every other person, she does need her alone time as well, and she values the things she does on her own without anyone's help a lot as well, like the lyrics she writes as practice. and she's immensely proud of them even though no feedback was given, because she did all of them by herself, with no one's help, all the credits going to her creative mind that runs a mile a minute with ideas and her own hard work. she takes challenges in a light-hearted way but also puts her hard work and effort into it so that it won't go to waste and perseveres until she reaches her desired goal. her parents have always taught her to do the best in what she does and jane takes this to heart. she doesn't give up easily and will put up a fight.

she prides herself on her honesty and speaking what's on her mind and thoughts as they are, no sugarcoating or anything like that. she expresses her thoughts and feelings openly, without resorting to deceit or manipulation. she's honest with herself as well, not being afraid to confront her own biases, prejudices and shortcomings, and does not shy away from admitting that she's wrong. the interpretation of her honesty is something that differs from person to person, those who call her "stuck up /princess" are usually the ones who can't take her, sometimes brutal, honesty.

another thing that adds to jane being regarded as arrogant or stuck up by her peers is her indifference towards certain things in life. she prioritizes herself over external opinions or societal expectations at times, preferring to be alone in her own bubble and mulling over what she can do for her own, individual growth. she values her privacy, personal space and boundaries a lot, choosing to keep certain aspects of her life concealed from others, maintaining a sense of mystery and guarding her inner world, which also contributes to her being called "arrogant" or "stuck up" by the others.

at her core, jane is someone who wants to have control over her own life. she's nonconformist and refuses to admit to being weak or asking for help. while she has had everything in her life handed to her, she has to prove to others that she can do things herself, so why should she ask for help when that would only be going against what she has to do?

overall, jane moon can either be your most trusted ally or your worst enemy. to some, she's the kindest, most loving person and yet, to others, she's the coldest, cruelest person to ever step foot on this earth. it all boils down to how you choose to treat her. she's not always sunny nor is she always shady, it's not one way or the other, she goes both ways. people may dislike it, but in the end, that's what makes her jane moon.

BACKGROUND.

when the moon family is mentioned in south korea, everybody in the business industry would stand at attention. that's how influential and powerful moon jongho and his family are. as the founder and ceo of moon enterprises, moon jongho prioritized work over everything, even being a proper father, and this was especially visible in his dynamic and interactions with his wife, kang insook, and their three children: their two sons moon jehyeop and moon jehoon, and their only daughter, moon hyojin. when jehyeop took over the position of the ceo of moon enterprises from his father, both his older brother's and his father's work-oriented, indifferent personalities caused jehoon to snap, leading to a big argument with his father, jongho, about how he was never a proper father and was never there for the important milestones in his children's lives, especially with the passing of their mother in 1988, when hyojin was only two years old. this argument resulted with jongho sending the then 18-year old jehoon to australia all by himself to finish his university work there.

"maybe if you spend actual time away from home and family, you can start acting more like your brother." was jongho's final words to him and off jehoon went to melbourne, australia. and after graduating from the university of melbourne with a degree in international business, he helped his father and older brother with the establishment of the australian branch of moon enterprises, taking over as the ceo position. he also got married to his university girlfriend, nicole choi soojin, who was a finance student and is now the cto of the australian branch of moon enterprises.

this was the family jane moon, also known as moon jein, was born into, on february 14, 2002, right into the lap of luxury with a silver spoon in , thanks to her family's influence all over australia and their home country of south korea. however, the one thing that made jehoon different from jongho and jehyeop remained, no matter how much work he was swarmed in, it never got in the way of his family. him and nicole were never absent from the important milestones of jane's life, from her first words to all of her graduations. nicole gave birth to another child in 2005, a boy named luke moon or moon jehan, and the moon family became a family of four. and for a while, they lived peacefully in their residence in melbourne, victoria, australia.

things started changing in 2008 however, when luke was three and jane was six. jane was told by her parents after a doctor's visit that her dearest brother, luke, was diagnosed with con hearing loss, meaning that as time went by, he'd lose more and more of his ability to hear until he became completely deaf. they didn't know the reason behind it, even though the doctor suggested it might be genetic and might have descended from the grandparents. while jehoon's parents, aka jongho and insook were fully hearing, nicole's family were a bit unclear, as both sets of nicole's grandparents had passed before she was born. the family were told that luke would either be fully deaf or have severe hearing loss, so the moon family started learning both korean and australian sign language as a whole to help luke in the future.

jehoon and nicole did everything they could to restore their son's hearing, however slight it might be, traveling to many countries in the span of 6 years looking for surgery options. their last attempt at the united states of america was met with success and with a complicated surgery, they were able to save some of luke's hearing. the surgery didn't have high percentages of success, but the moon family jumped at it. thankfully it was a success and they managed to save some of luke's hearing. from then on, luke started using hearing aids and the family continued to learn korean and australian sign language so they could communicate with him even when he didn't have his hearing aids in. jane never saw those endeavors as bothersome. she was always a curious kid, so learning about her brother's condition and learning two different types of sign language really opened up the doors of something completely new for her. and the completely new things also included something called bullying.

since kids don't know the concept of hearing loss and are cruel because they're mostly uneducated about the truths of life, they bully people, regardless of their upbringing or influence in life. and as a result, jane witnessed her brother luke be bullied severely for his hearing aids, from people calling him nicknames like "cloth ears" to having his things stolen. but she couldn't do anything other than comfort him when they were together and to tell him to not mind the bullies, that they don't know about the differences in life and what most people go through. she felt like a horrible older sister because of that, not being able to protect her younger brother from being bullied due to something he has no control over and the guilt still lingers in her to this day. if only she were stronger or had something to rely on that could understand.

she did have something that understood her, music. growing up, both jane and luke were very interested in music and singing. their mother, nicole, had a lovely voice and she would often sing to them whenever they asked her to. singing became a source of comfort for both jane and luke, with jane singing the songs her mother sang to her to her brother in times when he needed comfort. she could visibly see the positive effect her singing had on her brother's mood and she wanted to take it a step further, to have the same effect she has on her brother on other people as well. and she knew that she had to be good enough at it to have an effect on people. so, she begged her parents to allow her to attend singing lessons. jehoon and nicole, being the ever supportive parents they are, gave her the good news on her twelfth birthday, they got in touch with a vocal teacher and she agreed to teach jane how to sing. and thus started jane's journey with singing, in the form of one-on-one vocal classes with her teacher every weekend.

jane flourished in her vocal classes and soon began singing in front of her parents, displaying her skills to them. and from there on, started a love for performing. jane found performing to be freeing in a way, it allowed her to show off her skills freely and the applauses and cheers she received only made it better, and this love for performing eventually led jane to the marvelous world of kpop. she was, in one word, mesmerized with how the singers performed in their beautiful outfits, looking perfectly in sync and maintaining a connection with the audience as they executed the choreography on stage. she wanted that.

and while jane knew she could have the same thing with just a few phone calls from her family, something in her kept screaming at her to do it on her own, to not rely on her family for this particular endeavor. as a member of the prestigious moon family, it's not surprising that jane has had everything handed to her from the get-go, but she wanted to prove to her family that she can do things on her own, without the influence of her family. so she decided to take the first step on becoming an idol and started searching for companies to audition. she went through so many companies, searching for ones that held auditions in australia and had auditions open now. the companies that she found either didn't have global auditions going on in australia or the audition period was completely closed at the time, until she came across one that fit both bills: dal media.

jane had heard of the company named dal media before. it was founded in 2013 and already had a group under them, a 12-member girl group named rose. deciding that this was her chance, jane went to audition for dal media. her parents knew about her enthusiasm and passion for becoming an idol and they also knew that she wanted to do this on her own, without any help from them whatsoever, except for moral support. and they did just that, they provided her with moral support and had her favorite dishes made when jane came home from the audition crying, thinking that she absolutely bombed it because she was very nervous. or so she thought, because when she got an email a few weeks later, the contents were not rejecting in the slightest.

LIKES.

BEING ALONE.　jane may be an extrovert and a people person, but she also really values her alone time as well and even draws her strength from it at times.

BOOKS.　she reads everything, fiction and non-fiction, though she has a special affinity with fantasy. classic series like harry potter and percy jackson are the ones she always finds herself re-reading although she really enjoys browsing new fantasy series to read as well.

CATS AND DOGS.　like her cousin jehyung, jane is allergic to cat fur. it doesn't mean she won't stop to pet and give treats to every stray cat and dog she sees on the street though.

CHERRIES.　she loves cherries and everything cherry flavored and scented, especially cherry flavored lip gloss.

COFFEE.　as an australian and a coffee addict, jane loves and is quite serious about the coffee she drinks. she cannot function without at least two cups of coffee a day. she has even saved up enough money to buy a good quality espresso machine and grinder, which she uses to make herself and the members coffee. her go-to is iced vanilla latte although she really enjoys hot and blended coffees as well.

FASHION.　her style differs greatly from the rest of her family, but it's something jane is comfortable in and she thinks it expresses her well.

FOOD.　it doesn't matter if it's onigiri from a convenience store, cup ramen from 7/11 or a medium rare sirloin steak at a five-star restaurant, if it's food, jane likes it and will eat it.

INCENSE.　jane has different types of incense sticks and cones that all smell different along with a very fancy incense burner. her favorite ones are cherry, patchouli and white sage. she always makes sure to ask her roommate(s) if they mind her lighting an incense or not, even after they tell her many times that they don't mind.

LO-FI MUSIC.　her go-to music to play in the background when she's doing… anything really. she'll just pull up one of those three-hour lo-fi mix videos that have a neverending loop of bart and homer simpson in the background and do her own thing.

MAKEUP.　self-explanatory. as explained before, she sees it as a form of enhancing what's already there. she enjoys putting makeup on others as much as she likes putting it on herself.

MOVIES.　action, anime, comedy, drama, romance, it doesn't matter. she likes it all, except horror.

SOUR CANDY.　jane likes sweets but sour candy is a completely different thing. while she loves sweet stuff, jane is also a big lover of sour candy. sour patch kids are literally nothing to her and she has also tried toxic waste candy before.

SWEET STUFF.　she's a sweet over savory girl any day and can often be found indulging in cookies and other types of sweet snacks when she can.

ALARMS.　jane is already a light sleeper, she wakes up at the slightest sound. so loud alarms really startle her and make her feel like she's been hit by a truck.

BEING COMPARED TO HER FAMILY.　while she's exceptionally proud of her family and for being a part of said family, the anger that comes with the constant "moon hyojin's/moon jehyeop's niece", "moon jehoon's daughter", "moon jehyung's/twilight rev's cousin" and "moon jongho's granddaughter" is also there. she especially hates the ones that try to use the nepotism arguments and call her talentless. why does she have the "pandora's main vocalist" title then? hm?

BREAKING OUT.　pimples make her already red skin look even redder, so no thank you. she doesn't need that.

BUGS.　don't get her wrong, she doesn't mind bees, beetles, caterpillars and whatnot, but spiders, cockroaches and worms really annoy her. thankfully she won't hesitate to squash them.

CLOWNS.　jane has been scared of clowns since she was a child. maybe it has to do with the fact that her father loves horror movies, in particular stephen king's "it", which features a clown as the main antagonist.

CLUTTER.　sometimes, she just wants to do nothing more than smack the messy members with a rolled up newspaper, but she knows that it won't help with the clutter. there's always something messy for some reason and it stresses her out.

CRAMPS.　one of the reasons she wants to unsubscribe from being a woman. she doesn't want to spend the entire day doubled over in her bed while feeling like mike tyson is squeezing her insides.

HORROR MOVIES.　she literally can't watch it without squeaking in fear every few seconds and she can't be alone after watching horror movies because she will have nightmares.

NOSY PEOPLE.　how about you don't pry into business that isn't yours, karen?

OATMEAL.　while she understands that it's a natural source of fiber, she just can't bring herself to like it. it literally doesn't taste like anything.

WILLFUL IGNORANCE.　turning a blind eye to facts explicitly proving you wrong doesn't make you look cool, it makes you look stupid.

HABITS.

BODY LANGUAGE.　anyone who looks at jane can tell that she was brought up in a wealthy household. she crosses her legs at the ankles rather than knees, never slouches, always sits up straight and maintains eye contact.

CRUSHING.　jane is extremely secretive about who she crushes on and treats them no different. it can be a downfall for her though, especially the person she crushes on may think she's not interested.

LOVE LANGUAGE.　words of affirmation. jane puts a lot of thought into her words and what she says to others, and how she constructs her thoughts and sentences when writing even small messages on communication apps like weverse or universe.

MORNING ROUTINE.　no matter what time she falls asleep, jane's regular morning routine consists of waking up at 7 am, showering, doing skincare, getting dressed and making coffee. she finds that it helps her be more motivated and ready to take on whatever the group has to do that day.

NIGHT ROUTINE.　and no matter what time pandora arrives at the dorm after late night practices, jane's regular night routine is taking her makeup off, brushing her teeth, doing her nighttime skincare and reading in her bed. it helps her relax and she's usually falling asleep in no time.

HOBBIES.

BROWSING CONVENIENCE STORES.　it has caused a lot of people to accuse her of shoplifting, but she's just checking out package designs while trying to decide what chocolate or cookies to buy.

COLLECTING STUFF.　she has a very large collection of dinosaur plushies in her room, most of it on her bed. she also collects merch from her favorite movies, fancy perfumes which she gladly shares with her fellow members and incense sticks and cones.

PUTTING ON MAKEUP.　both on herself and on others as mentioned before.

READING.　she also loves collecting books. her go-to method for destressing is lighting an incense stick and curling up on her bed with a cup of hot coffee and a book.

SHOPPING.　while she has to stick to online shopping due to pandora's schedules, if she has the time, she'll definitely visit shops for clothes, plushies, books and incense.

SPOTIFY DEEP-DIVING.　if she wants to find songs that fit her mood, all she needs to do is type a few keywords and in she goes. she also enjoys finding new playlists and adding new songs to her playlist.

moon jehoon and nicole choi are only the best parents ever, according to jane. they're the people who helped her grow up to be the strong, independent and capable person she is and have never once pulled their support away from her. they're pretty close to each other and they talk almost daily, even if it's to say that they've eaten and drank enough water. they're both very kind-hearted and selfless people who have so much love to give, and it's evident in the way they raised both jane and luke. jane is very grateful to them and wants to spend her first ever paycheck on her parents to pay them back for all those years. "this is the least i can do for them, even though i know it won't be enough." is what jane says whenever she's asked about it. while jehoon and nicole still live in melbourne, it's not hard for them to fly over to south korea whenever they want.

two words, one sentence, and it describes the moon siblings perfectly. sibling goals. jane and luke are literally all they have when it comes to family, excluding their parents of course. jane is immensely protective over luke. despite being younger than her, luke will square up to any type of person who he finds threatening for his older sister's safety and jane is the same when it comes to luke, she will go to the ends of the earth for her baby brother without any questions or complaints. at the time of pandora's debut, luke still lives in melbourne with his parents and is attending secondary school, currently a year 11 student. he's not exactly sure what he wants to do in life after graduating and jane constantly reminds him that it's okay, that he'll have a goal sometime and achieving that goal will bring forward the best feeling he can ever feel: the feeling of accomplishment and success.

MOON HYOJIN, AUNT, CEO OF DAL MEDIA

have you ever met a woman so iconic? think about it: a former idol trainee from a well-known family who attended private, prestigious schools her entire life and even graduated from a high-ranking university with a degree in international business, speaks four languages almost fluently and runs her own entertainment company at the mere age of 36? and you mean to tell her this woman, moon hyojin, is jane's aunt? as explained before, simply iconic. as hyojin resided in south korea and jane in australia, they didn't get to meet each other as much as jane would've liked in her childhood but, that doesn't diminish the amount of love and respect she has for her aunt in any way shape or form. on the contrary, it only elevates it because of all the stories she heard from her father growing up, with jehoon being the one who had "raised" hyojin, as their wasn't that big compared to that of their older brother, jehyeop, and hyojin. hyojin, on the other hand, was well-aware that she had a niece and another nephew, if jehoon spamming their message box with photos of jane and luke is anything to go by, but as they both resided in different countries, she never really had a chance to interact with her niece as much as she'd like. and something tells her that now that jane is a trainee in her company—a feat she accomplished without knowing that hyojin was the ceo mind you—this is her chance to bond with her niece.

MOON JEHYUNG, COUSIN, 1999, ENTJ 8W7

the son of her father's older brother moon jehyeop, jane was aware of her cousin jehyung's existence but never really interacted with him. this was caused by jane's father though. constantly being compared to the "golden child of the moon family", his older brother, growing up, jehoon developed somewhat of an inferiority complex and cut off contact majorly with his older brother after going to australia, which led to jane and jehyung only being aware of each other's existence and not really interacting until they both ended up at dal media. even then, their interactions were spotty at best, as jehyung had already debuted with twilight by the time jane arrived at the company. the first few times they interacted was awkward and only consisted of them bowing at each other in the hallways and asking about the whereabouts of another person.

it wasn't until the news of jehyeop's life-threatening disease came out that jane and jehyung finally started interacting properly. the two cousins, strangers at first, started bonding over their shared love of music and singing, and jane became a person jehyung holds to the standards of hyojin, truly family. she has seen him reach low points, especially after jehyeop's passing, and has seen the true moon jehyung behind all of the titles he has: twilight's lead vocalist rev, the son of moon jehyeop, the first grandson of moon jongho, the nephew of moon hyojin. underneath all of those masks that he puts on daily, jane just sees a lost and lowkey scared child, trying to fill in the gaps that his father's lack of… fatherhood left on him. she'd never make that known to anyone though, after all, her cousin has a reputation to uphold. jehyung knows this and appreciates jane a lot for this. at the time of pandora's debut, they have a pretty close relationship and see each other as the older brother and younger sister they never had.

though she has never met the man, jane has intense respect for her uncle and jehyung's father, moon jehyeop. moon jehyeop is someone every man dreams of becoming when they grow up, a rich and handsome man, a ceo, a leader, a problem solver, an influential and successful businessman who has a high status in multiple companies and a father although he lacks a little in the last department. she only wishes she could've actually met him rather than listen to her father's stories about him, she would've loved to have a conversation with him about topics they both are interested in over some coffee.

MOON JONGHO & LEE JUNGSOOK, GRANDPARENTS, 1947 & 1954

the only times jane has met her paternal grandparents are when jongho and jungsook visit australia to check how the australian branch of moon enterprises is doing in the business market. and from those times alone, jane could sense that jongho wasn't the type of grandfather she'd see on tv: someone who is extremely affectionate with his grandchildren and who spoils them to bits. no, jongho was distant, indifferent and borderline callous, seemingly not caring about anything but work, work and more work. jungsook, on the other hand, is someone jane warmed up to quite instantly, with her personality being a carbon copy of her aunt hyojin. or the other way around, now that jane thinks about it, hyojin's personality is a carbon copy of jungsook. which makes sense when you think about it, since jungsook is the woman that practically raised hyojin into the woman she is today. jongho is someone jane admires for his work ethic and determination and jungsook is someone jane aspires to be in the future.

DANCE TWIN.　EVERGLOW'S SIHYEON　a pretty good idol dancer, jane captivates the audience's attention quite easily, with her coordination and facial expressions. she does tend to execute awkward and rushed moves at times, which is a sign of an underdeveloped technique. while she's mainly in charge of vocals, she also knows that being in sync with the other members and not standing out also takes training and practice, so she's working really hard to polish up on her dancing.　(back up: stayc's j, aespa's giselle)

TRAINEE LIFE.

jane's trainee life first started at the age of 18, when she joined dal media without the knowledge that it was her aunt's company. at that time, she had been a new adult from australia, with no prior training in dancing but strictly her vocals. so she did take part in a lot of guide vocals for dal media groups, while also receiving dance classes. but jane wasn't happy. she didn't want to sing behind the scenes, she wanted to stand on stage like the idols themselves did.

in 2022, girls planet 999, a new survival show, started taking auditions to have 99 trainees in their roster, to ultimately create an 9 member project group. while jane also auditioned, her audition was rejected and kep1er, the project group, went on to debut with no trainees from dal media whatsoever. disappointed but not demotivated, jane continued to train, being hopeful that she too would debut one day. little did she know, that chance wasn't far from her at all, because soon enough, she was called to her aunt's office with four other trainees, and told that she'd be debuting with dal media's newest girl group, pandora.
