APPEARANCE hyoseop’s an attractive guy. whether it's his height or smooth skin or sharp symmetrical features, he attracts both girls and boys and he knows it. he tries to use it to his advantage, like sizing up baristas for a discount on starbucks coffee because god knows how expensive those are. but there are also instances where it could get inconvenient. like that one time he visited tokyo with his mother and some girls kept following him, saying things like, "omg is he a k-pop idol? he looks like (celeb name)!!" he currently keeps his hair at short to medium length and is dyed to blonde. hyoseop is all for trying out new styles, so he keeps changing his hair color every now and then. his last hair color was pink with black tips which he got due to dohyun joking that he can see his friend dye his hair pink due to his obsession with jujutsu kaisen at that time. dohyun didn’t think the other would take his word seriously, but he did. and the next day, hyoseop was standing in front of their teacher getting scolded for breaking the school dress code. his pink hair, which he rocked if he’d say so himself, lasted about 3 months. despite his disinterest in every single sport and sweating, he is blessed with a naturally lean body to match his height.

 

FASHION STYLE
⚪ finally out of school uniforms. hyoseop's fashion sense can be described to be a bit on the ecentric side, a mix of classy and street wear. he likes to test limits by showing some skin and try out styles other males might be hesitant to go for. his outfits are more showy and eye-catching, where when told he's a fashion major, others would nod in understanding and say "oh i see, yeah it shows" and this in turn makes them curious to see his designs and creative work. hyo also paints his nails occassionally and accessorizes with rings, necklaces, earrings, and hand bags. however, he doesn't over do it stating in his words that "the clothes need to do all the talking not the side pieces".

⚪ the general view of hyoseop is that he’s dramatic, sassy, vain, and dreadfully blunt, but ultimately well-meaning. being heavily into fashion and an inspiring designer, he cares about appearances, whether its his own or others. his eyes habitually scans others from head to toe and often will he give his opinion, even if its unsolicited. he isn’t judgmental though and just likes to help others by means of gaining confidence through their outfits. as they say, fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life. also, hyo is too blunt for good. he isn’t afraid of telling others off when they say something stupid or even words they don’t want to hear.

⚪ he is deeper than he appears. as he complains, "all people see when they look at me is my fashionable style and pretty face." but one wonders if that is part of his plan. by playing dumb even though he is quite intellectual, he is able to catch people off guard. so don’t count him out. to him, better grades are just an argument away. he can underhandedly manipulate conversations and situations to his advantage. he means no harm though, just mostly getting things his way.

⚪ a social butterfly this one is. he has no trouble initiating conversations with strangers and often seeks out being surrounded by people. he gains energy and motivation from social interactions. and once hyo accepts someone into his close knit of friends, he will be absolutely faithful and loyal to them. he will stand up for them and stay true to them. although, becoming his friend means that they have signed to tolerate his intrusive habits, that includes him butting into their love lives. if you ask him, he’d say that there is no way his matchmaking instincts could ever be wrong. and if control-freak hyo has just a little problem with hubris, at least he looks utterly fabulous while learning a lesson about the dangers of meddling.

BACKGROUND
⚪ born and raised in jeju island, hyoseop was brought into the world as the first and only son to the kim family. his father was an accountant while his mother is a college professor. both his parents were super busy and were barely around, leaving hyoseop to spend most of his time either alone or with his mother who at least tried to spend time with him which the boy greatly enjoyed for seojin was a great mother to him.

⚪ around the time of his 9th birthday, his parents got a divorce. surprisingly, hyoseop wasn’t at all affected by it. in fact, he was expecting it since he, just like everyone else, could see that his parent’s haven’t been getting along, especially not after his father admitted to his infidelity to his wife. hyoseop, again, wasn’t surprised of his father’s affair since he usually saw his father’s mysterious behavior like secretly texting a lot, seeking in and out of the house late at night, etc. he won’t lie, at first he thought it was completely weird not living with both parents, but after some deep and open talk with his mother, he have come to accept the outcome for he saw in time how much happier his mother has become. seeing as his father’s job required him to be more absent, he didn’t fight for custody and the court appointed him to be under his mother. however, he was ordered to visit and hang out with his father at least once a week, which they did every tuesday. they mostly met for dinner and it was always filled with awkward silences. hyoseop never looked forward to tuesdays back then.

⚪ living in a small town means that everybody eventually knows everyone’s business and talk. so, when hyoseop entered middle school expecting to start fresh, all his fellow students either whispered behind his back or gave him sympathetic looks. hyoseop hated it but masked it all with a smile and an exaggerated social energy to elude from his situation. when he heard that one of the students in his class just recently moved to jeju from busan, he was intrigued and studied the boy a bit from a far. he noticed that the boy wasn’t the social type, so he mostly kept to himself. deciding to see the other’s reaction, hyoseop approached him during one lunch break and introduced himself, studying the boy who introduced himself as dohyun. there was no judgement or sympathy in his eyes but rather just hidden nervousness. dohyun was clueless to his situation and hyoseop liked it for now, that was exactly what he needed at that time. he was adamant to befriending the other and insisted his presence on him until he gave up and accepted his fate. he noticed how fellow students often misunderstood dohyun and so he took it upon himself to becoming his friend’s spokesperson. developing a soft spot for his friend and becoming super close was something he didn’t expect but he found it to be pleasant. hyoseop was happy.

⚪ as he and dohyun became best friends, they started hanging out more often with each other and became almost joined to the hips. with that meant that hyoseop often opted to hang out at dohyun’s place as he had no one to be with back home due to his mother working until late hours. he became close to dohyun’s family as well who warmly welcomed him and treated him like their own. dohyun’s mother treats him like her own son, his grandmother makes sure he’s well fed, his grandfather gives him some pocket money, bickering with his older brother, and teaching his uncle gen z ways. hyoseop grew to consider them like a second family to him and became very fond of them, ever so thankful to dohyun for welcoming him into his personal life. it was then that he started opening up to the other, holding no boundaries, no secrets. he laid bare right in front of dohyun, and his best friend took it all in.

⚪ his mother was living her best life as a single mother. she is a beautiful woman so she unsurprising had lustful men flocking after her and she would indulge them. how does he know that? well, he did get his talkative side from his mother so the woman would openly tell him stories no matter how much he tells her to stop. “mom, i love you and you know that i’ll constantly support you in whatever decision you make, but i really don’t wanna know what you do with other men.” is what he’d always tell her.

⚪ just like how supportive he is of his mother in whatever, seojin did the same for her son. when hyoseop knew of fashion weeks and the met gala at the age of 13, he was instantly hooked. ever since, all he could breathe was fashion; from browsing the web to watching many runways to taking after school classes. hyoseop went from merely watching in admiration to designing his own outfits. endless sketches filled his room with ideas, and he felt free while he expressed himself through fashion and designing. soon after, he began to reform his own clothings to his style which impressed many peers with his talent. that was when hyoseop earned the nickname of fashionista and was known among peers for his eccentric showcasey style. then one day, while he was working on a piece, dohyun impressed recommended he start up his brand and it was like a light switch was in his head. with that, he started up his own online brand store, morning glory, selling limited pieces for after all he was just one guy. morning glory became a hit amongst teenagers and young adults, with pieces selling out fast. the brand is his greatest accomplishment, joy, and passion. hyoseop’s passion didn’t stop there, he went through more self-discovery from learning his inner essence and preference as well. he knew he was different from the start but only delved into it as his dating life begun upon entering high school.

⚪ though thing's aren't so easy here in south korea, especially not for… “unique people” as hyoseop would put it. he was not ready to openly admit it yet. people talk, especially teenagers, and so eventually the whole school were gossiping about hyoseop. assumptions of his uality and various rumors were what most students talked about. he never addressed the assumptions and rumors and just let them be, not letting the situation shake his confidence and mood. but of course, not all students were accepting of it. this attracted some bullies though hyoseop didn't back down and didn't show any signs of weakness to them. once coming back home with small bruises and a warning for fighting, seojin was worried. though she didn't scold her son until she heard his explanation. she of course knew and dreaded that hyoseop was going to have to face the judgement and insults. that made her feel sad and worried for her son's safety. seeing his mother’s expression, hyoseopreassured her that judgmental pieces of will be around everywhere but she doesn’t have to worry cause he will stand strong and has friends and family standing by him and that’s all that matter to him. he'll just have to avoid these sorts of people. however, the bullying didn't last long since hyoseop always stood up for himself and had friends like dohyun to support him.

⚪ hyoseop’s weekly hang outs with his father slowly became once a month to eventually once every three months or so. that is because his father always seemed busy whenever they hung out, often criticizing and lecturing him. his eyes mostly glued to his phone texting making him think his father has a girlfriend or taking long business calls. despite that, hyoseop tried to get closer to him but his father would just push him away. if yoonchul was not sitting in silence or busy on his phone, he would be lecturing his style and behavior telling him to “stop acting like a sissy” and that if he continues to be that way, his friends will leave him. hyoseop despised it whenever he rambled like that. until one day, when he’s had enough, did he realize that his father is no different than the bullies at school. this realization crushed him for a while, knowing that his one and only father would never come around to accepting him for who he truly is. so, he made a decision that was hard on him but necessary. there would be no more weekly hang outs or rather none at all. his mother tried to talk him out of it but then accepted it and relayed that to his father. just like hoe the man didn’t fight for custody he didn’t question the decision and just accepted it, no longer being part of his life. this confirmed his fear that he was in fact just a burden to his father and that night he cried himself to sleep but waking up the next day to be comforted by his best friend. he knew that he felt hurt at that moment, but he’ll be okay soon cause after all he still had his mother, dohyun, and dohyun’s family who were like his own.

⚪ family stick together. hyoseop took those words quiet literally. he loved his family and the life he built in jeju. so, when he heard from dohyun that the other was going to apply to jeju university and donggyu talking about the fashion program the university offered if he was interested, hyoseop jumped on the bandwagon. he gets to study what he loves at a good university with an extensive fashion program and stay close to his best friend and home. it was a great deal and more than he could ask for.

⚪ when really busy and concentrated in working on a design, he tends to forget to eat and ends up skipping meals. dohyun hates this bad habit and makes sure his friend is eating when he knows he's deep in a project.
⚪ hyoseop announced morning glory would go on a hiatus a little before joining university in order to focus on his studies and plans on reopening it once he graduates.
