🌿 dodo - it started out at first as 'do', which is an abbreviation of his name. until one day, one of his friends during middle school kept staring at him and out of nowhere said that dohyun actually reminds him of a dodo bird. his other friends laughed and started calling him that from then.
🌿 plant whisperer - due to his talent of maintaining and reviving plants, the workers at his mother's flower shop gave him this nickname.
🌿 kid / kiddo / baby - his uncle calls him those. dohyun used to be fine with it until he became a high schooler that it flustered him, reacting like any teenager and getting mad whenever donggyu did. however, now dohyun doesn't the least care and just ignores it.

🌿 japanese - conversational - he went through an anime obsession phase back in middle school and thus with that he caught on to some words and phrases. with his interest on the language, he started learning japanese for a short while until he stopped as he got busy with his studies in high school.
🌿 english - basic - he always struggled with learning english all throughout school. while he was by some miracle able to pass the subject with good grades, his strong accent and automatic responses with 'yes/no' 'sorry' and 'thank you' doesn't do him justice. so he strongly avoids speaking the language.
 

 

MEASUREMENTS 176cm and 63kg.

 

APPEARANCE his mom constantly tells him that he looks starkly similar to his uncle donggyu when he was his age. dohyun has a round face with fair skin, sharp eyes, button nose and plump lips. a distinguishable feature of his is his dimple. unlike his brother whose dimples are very clear, dohyun's dimple only shows when he smiles (which doesn't happen often) and it's only on his left cheek. despite not being much, he still takes pride in his height. when he stands in front of donggyu, his uncle would pat his head like a puppy while wiping a fake tear saying how proud he is of how much his baby has grown and brings up his embarrassing diaper days which dohyun would glare at the older for messing his hair while grumbling for him to stop. his current hair is short medium length dyed in black with hues of blue.

 

FASHION STYLE
🌿 dohyun isn't the best stylist. he has his off days after all, but overall he knows how to throw an outfit together without much help. his style is pretty soft — the over-fit style. he loves flowy clothes that fit oddly well on his thin and lanky frame like oversized shirts, sweaters, cardigans and dungarees. also, he is farsighted, but he would almost always wear lenses. on occasion would he wear his circular prescripted glasses to rest his eyes.

🌿 dohyun is very reserved and bashful by nature. he is private and soft-spoken, even amongst close friends, and enjoys time alone which he often dedicates to taking care of his collection of plants. he has been socially anxious and self-conscious since he was young and typically retreated into the sanctuary of his mother’s flower shop or his crop garden. he struggles to interact with strangers, has very few friends other than hyoseop, and is strikingly sensitive to attention from others. he also embarrasses very easily and does not easily live down mortifying moments. his friends' antics and jokes are hence often at his expense. he is very aware of his feelings though he has trouble at expressing them, be it his appreciation for his friends or just his gratitude in general.

He may not show it to others but he posseses a very sensitive side. he would internally overthink whenever someone says something hurtful to him or whatnot. his care and kindness may not always be best demonstrated as it is usually concealed with little coldness. he also seems to have a knack for offering his friends quick comforting words when they are distressed.

BACKGROUND
🌿 tldr : raised by a single mother in busan until they moved to jeju back to his mother’s childhood home where he lived a normal upbringing being co-raised by his grandparents and uncle. developed his love for horticulture through helping his mother in her flower shop.

🌿 born in busan, south korea. his father was an aircraftman in the air force and sadly passed away due to a crashing accident when his mother was 5 months pregnant with him, leaving her to be a single mother raising two sons all on her own.

🌿 ahrong was able to make ends meet for 9 years until it was all taking a toll on her, raising her children while keeping her flower shop going was physically and mentally draining her.

🌿 so, when her worried younger brother, donggyu, came to her to convince her to move back to their hometown where her family will be able to help her, she agreed. ahrong relocated her flower shop business to jeju and moved back to her childhood home.

🌿 in most memories, dohyun remembers spending them with his grandparents who helped raise him and his brother with his uncle visiting every now and then.

🌿 moving to a new city in a small village where everyone knew each other was a whole new environment for the then city boy and unlike his outgoing older brother who quickly adjusted, dohyun’s introverted side made him struggle.

🌿 that is until his second week of school there where he was approached by a pretty boy he recognized in his class during lunch who took an interest in him after scrutinizing him for a week. the talkative boy named hyoseop insisted his presence on him until dohyun had no choice but to accept the other. hyoseop is very friendly and easily likable, so it wasn’t that difficult for dohyun to consider the other a friend which in the years develop as his best friend.

🌿 when he was 11 years old, he grew curious to understand his mother’s passion for growing and caring for plants and flowers, so he spent every weekday after school helping his mother in her flower shop. seeing that, ahrong got dohyun involved in helping her water the plants and explained to him the proper way to take care of plants.

🌿 soon after, dohyun’s interest peaked and he started reading agriculture books on his own to learn more and apply what he learned. and on his 13th birthday, as a gift, his grandparents and mother prepped the green yard of their house to be a special gardening area for dohyun to grow any plant and flower his heart desires. this became dohyun’s haven where he spent a lot of his time caring for the vegetable plants and flowers he grew.

🌿 when the time came close to graduating high school and he had to apply to universities, dohyun’s choice was already set. jeju university was his top pick. his older brother, seunghyun, is already a student there and it’s his best friend’s first choice as well. so, when both his and hyoseop’s acceptance letters reached them, dohyun was ecstatic.

🌿 he is a morning person.
🌿 dohyun has dated for the first time in his first year of middle school. he was always somewhat popular with the girls; good looks and mysterious. if you'd ask him to count, he'd say he dated about five girls in his life, but none lasted long as he never went beyond a romantic relationship which confused his exs into thinking he's not into them. in his defense, he was attracted to them but didn't feel the need to perform any ual acts and never caught their hints about their desires. teenage girls are confusing. that was when hyoseop analyzed him and referred him as an aual. currently, he just generally doesn't care about dating, so he won't be out and about seeking for a potential girlfriend. however, if someone he likes does approach him with clear intentions, dohyun wouldn't push them away and rather just go with the flow.
🌿 he doesn't have a drivers license and never bothered getting one. he just pesters his brother or uncle to drive him around and when they're not around, he'd just take the bus or ride on his bicycle.
🌿 dohyun was never bothered by the fact that he never had a father for after all, he knew that his mother did her best and his grandfather was sort of like his father figure. 
🌿 when he drinks, his drunk habit would be that he starts speaking and acting like an old man before passing out.
🌿 he started hiking because of his uncle, donggyu. he used to take both dohyun and seunghyun out to camp in the wilderness every summer as kids but stopped once he got promoted to resident director and got busy. however, dohyun didn't stop and occassionally goes to hike on his own.
🌿 everytime he goes hiking, he picks a wild flower and later presses it before sticking it in his journal and records his sightseeing and what he foraged.
🌿 he enjoys going out to local fruit and vegetable markets and getting some fresh produce. he used to go there with his grandmother every saturday morning.
🌿 he knows how to play the kalimba and occassionally plays some tunes with it.
🌿 dohyun is actually more of an ambivert than an introvert. depending on his mood, some days he'd wanna hang out with hyoseop and other days he'd just rather stay at home taking care of his plants, journaling, and making terrariums.

ROOM PREFERENCES 
🌿 his mother is paying his tuition and housing fees and with his family being middle-low class, a triple room is what they can afford. dohyun is not picky and doesn’t mind it one bit. prefers minimal living than straining his mother’s finances. he actually has his fingers crossed that he and hyoseop will end up rooming together. as for roommates, as long as they are decent human beings, he’d be okay. however, he does have an ideal vision of getting along with his dormmates and occasionally having chill nights (chatting, playing games, watching movies, cooking, etc).

SCENE SUGGESTIONS
🌿 when asked things like why he decided to go to jju, he'd keep answering that his uncle is an alumni and his brother is here too (he's not lying tho lol). and when some point out that he looks like donggyu, he'd say something like "psh i'm more handsome" or just smile a little. then later on, when they see dohyun and donggyu interacting and discover that that he's donggyu's nephew, everyone either has a pikachu shocked face or in realization say "okay, that makes sense".
🌿 dohyun decides to cook for his dormmates but they have no ingredients. so, he drags another character who has a license and car to drive him to a local fresh market, utterly refusing to just go to a supermarket and them bickering the whole car ride lol but he ends up cooking them a delish meal.
