PERSONALITY:

everybody knows ty lee to be a bright and bubbly girl that gets along easily with everyone, but her sister ty lin is the complete opposite. talking to ty lin is like she woke up on the wrong side of the bed everyday. she's quick to scream at anyone that comes at her the wrong way and sometimes she just be having an attitude for no reason at all. the midst of puberty did not do her good, on top of that she's just angry at everything because of her circumstances. she's an independent person, even though she has a bunch of sisters she prefers to do things on her own.

she would rather sit there struggling to do something than ask for help, and when you ask her if she needs help she'll snap at you instead. but later on she'll go to you looking like a whole mess saying she can't do it when it could've been done 2 hours ago if she just let someone else help her. she's a perfectionist when it comes to whatever she does, having to compete all her life she wants to be the best and everything and puts the effort and practice so she can do so. she's the biggest sore loser you'd ever meet, even if its something fun like paisho she'll stomp off to her room after losing or demand to play another game.

in a room full of people she'll probably be sitting on the side on her own with her arms crossed basically looking like she doesn't want to be there. if someone tries to talk to her she'll most likely remain unimpressed and rude to them even if they're nice. most of the time she doesn't know why she's so upset, its just apart of her personality at this point.

underneath the whole mean girl facade, ty lin is actually a caring person. when she starts caring about someone (which is rare because she never had many friends anyways) she would do little acts of kindness that'll make you say aww and want to give her a hug but she'll punch your arm and tell you never to mention it to anyone. when she finally decides to let you in you'll have a friend for life, she doesn't give up on the people she cares most about easily. even if their motives aren't good she'll go along with them because thats how loyal she is. she'll start opening up more and willing to do fun things with you, show her mischievous and sneaky side that finds humor in pulling pranks and teasing people.

if someone is talking bad about you best believe she'll come to your rescue quick. even for people she's not close to she always has this urge to stand up for the underdog because she can't stand other people getting treated unfairly. its like a trigger for her, but don't think that because she stood up for you means that your friends because she'll tell you to your face that she's still not your friend.

she has a hidden nice side to her but its hard to notice when she throws a flower at you though its the one that you mentioned was your favorite weeks ago. she has a good heart just her attitude makes it hard to see, she truly doesn't want to hurt anyone or do anything wrong but she just wants the recognition she deserves. if she has any part in any plan she expects to get the credit she deserves and will speak up about it. 

her quietness makes her an observant person, she watches and listens to others putting pieces together to figure out how they feel or their true motives. she's intelligent when it comes to reading other people, her intuition is no joke. but when it comes to her own feelings she at explaining herself and how she feels making it all bottle up inside her and lash out on anyone that comes too close. it might be hard to tell that she's actually a sensitive person, she just expresses a lot of her emotions in anger instead. she would make decisions emotionally even if its not the best thing to do. she has an implusive streak which makes her unpredictable to other people but its just because she can't express her feelings through words. she has a blunt way of talking so don't expect her to old back and finds joy in putting a little sarcasm and teasing in the way she talks.     

BACKGROUND: 

ty lin was born on april 12 in 85AG to a noble family with six idential sisters. in order to stand out they all had to choose a hobby and ty lin ended up being the only firebender. by default that was the quality that helped her stand out, well not really, more like stop her from being mistaken for the others. she didn’t have a close relationship with her parents, none of them really did. her parents didn’t often confused then for one another and ty lin hated that the most. she enrolled into the royal fire academy for girls with ty lee. its where she learned firebending and ty lin was known as one of the best fire benders in her grade. with the fire nation princess in the same grade as her she was often in her shadow even though she was a better bender.

ty lin got invited to the palace a few times during her school years to play with azula. her mom invited her since she was ty lee’s sister assuming that her and azula could be good friends too. ty lin was the girl that gave azula a run for her money, she refused to get bullied by her just because she was the princess and every single game they played was filled with competitive rage. ty lin was the only person that compared to azula skills wise and she was intimidated. ty lin hated going to the palace but there was one thing she looked forward to everytime, prince zuko.

zuko was often off doing his own thing since he absolutely refused to play with azula and a bunch of girls. but sometimes his mom forced him to play with them, and every time he was on ty lin’s team because azula wanted to beat both of them. they got along easily talking about how crazy his sister was and he enjoyed seeing azula get defeated at her own game by ty lin.

whenever she went to the palace she mostly looked forward to seeing zuko and spent more time with him than the girls. but ty lin wasn’t the only one that had feelings for zuko, mai secretly had a big fat crush on him and when azula noticed that she took advantage. she made sure to pair mai with zuko more and do things like push them towards each other just to get ty lin upset and it worked. when zuko got banished ty lin stopped going to the palace, she had nothing to look forward to by going there. she got information from ty lee about where he could possibly be and attempted to send a messenger hawk with a letter but never got a response, she isn’t even sure if he got it.

ty lin basically went back to square one with no friends and never getting the recognition she deserved. her and azula’s relationship became more tense, they were older now and the childish back and forth turned into actual arguing. she attempted to outdo azula at everything in order to get some kind of acknowledgement but the princess was always praised, even when it was clear that ty lin was the winner. at that point it seemed like all the praise was fabricated just because she was the princess, a thought thats actually not too farfetched.

one day she had enough of living in everyones shadow and challenged azula to an agni kai, it was the only way to official tell who the better firebender was. it was honestly the day that azula’s been waiting for, she thought she’d never ask. the fight was watched by all the students in the courtyard of their school, most people cheered on azula but the few people that couldn’t stand her cheered for ty lin. they were well matched and for a while ty lin was winning to everyones surprise. when azula was on the floor panting ty lin decided to spare her, she didn’t want to hurt azula just prove that she was a better fighter. as ty lin was walking away with her back turned azula lightning bended at her hitting her in the shoulder causing everyone to go silent.

at the perfect time the headmaster showed up to split up the fight. ty lin got expelled from school for declaring an agni kai and got sent to an all girls boarding school. the news spread about her fight with the princess, even the people at her boarding school knew and talked about how she got her beat which was obviously a lie because she cheated. to get rid of her loneliness at school she attempted to send more letters to zuko but still didn’t get a response. ty lee was the only person that stayed in contact with her while she was at boarding school. both of them sympathized with each others hatred for their current situation. ty lin wasn’t even allowed to firebend at her new school and ty lee was struggling to find her own identity. they hatched a plan to run away together and it was successful, ty lee helped her break out of her new school and they ran away to the circus.

ty lee felt like it was her calling and he wanted to take her sister with her, both were really good acrobats so they became known as the tumbling twins doing tightrope walking and different acrobatic routines together. ty lin’s enjoyment at the circus was limited, it was fun at first but after she found herself in the same position again, getting overshadowed by her sister who was a better acrobat than her. she ran away from the circus in the middle of the night with limited food and money, she doesn’t plan on going back home and doesn’t have anywhere to go either. she’s just been wandering around hoping to find her way.

TRIVIA:

☯ she's afraid of lightning and thunder after the incident. whenever its raining and theres thunder thats probably the only time you'll see her clinging to someone... then she'll push them off like they were clinging to her. 
☯ she wants to learn firebending from a master so she can perfect her skills before meeting azula again
☯ sometimes she can say things out of anger that she doesn't really mean but she'll always make it up later
☯ she actually likes hugs and skinship but only with her friends - if she doesn't know you or like you then don't touch her. she will gladly twist your arm :)
☯ since she went to a prestigious school she's really smart but not the type to show it off

☯ she cries easily, like if theres a sad play or story being told. she's a silent crier but she pouts when she cries. if someone else points it out she'll just say that she's sweating though

ty lin isn't close to her parents at all, they barely gave her attention as a kid. after her angi kai with azula they kind of disowned her because its embarrassing for their daughter to treat the princess of the fire nation that way. even though ty lin was the one that was wrongfully hurt they still think she is in the wrong. ty lin couldn't care less about seeing her parents because she's pretty sure that they don't care about seeing her either.

ty lin was close to ty lee, out of all the sisters they're the closest to each other. they're basically opposites but ty lin still loves her sister no matter how annoying she is. she just hated the fact that she had to live in her shadow at the circus. ty lee doesn't know the real reason why ty lin left but she thinks that its all her fault and her sister hates her.

ty lin isn't very close to her sisters either. they act close like they aren't constantly competing for their parents attention when in actuality they all get jealous of each other from time to time. their relationship is pretty competitive and gossipy. she thinks her sisters won't have her back but if she really needs it they would.

ty lin is azula's biggest enemy. they've been competing since they were little and she's one of the few people who can actually keep up with azula and get under her skin. they haven't seen each other since she got kicked out of the royal fire academy for girls. but ty lin doesn't plan on keeping it that way for much longer.

zuko is ty lin's first crush and one of the few people that she actually got along with. she often finds herself thinking about him, how he's doing, if he's even alive. she also wonders if he ever got her letters. if she came across zuko again she'll be really happy because she felt like they understood each other, talking to him was so easy. after running away they have a lot more in common than they think, as well as their mutual dislike for azula.

ty lin didn't like mai for the simple reason that she liked zuko too. other than that they didn't have a problem with each other. if anything she was more upset at azula for pushing them together so much because if it was up to mai she would just watch zuko from afar. other than that when they sued to hang out together she got along with mai pretty easily.

LAST COMMENT: casually steals one of ty lee's sisters and makes them into my own character lol btw since she has a crush on zuko i can totally see her becoming an antagonist but its up to you how it all plays out ofc. she doesn't have to end up with zuko or anything, you can decide how he feels about her. i'm trying to finish my last character so i didnt have time to reread her. hope theres not too many mistakes.
