Hoya's Fansign Incident

So I was about to shower after watching their latest performance with 9Muses Minha (which is really cute - I think they should invite other female guests for their performance from now on! Even better with Lovelyz xD), then I saw a comment cheering up Hoya and all. After researching, my mood went down completely and so now I'm sitting here writing this instead of showering then study for my math exam coming up in two days.

To summarise the incident, at Hapjeong fansign, Hoya received a letter from a fangirl and was told to read it and he did. Afterwards, he was very upset to the point that his hands were shaking. When Dongwoo pointed it out, he hid one of his hand away inside his pocket but the other hand that was holding the letter was visibly shaking (cr). There were misunderstandings about his attitude at the airport and official events, how he treats his fansite differently, etc. The said girl then announced that she will stop being his fan as of today. Hoya said he was trying to be happy after reading the letter but he couldn't. He was too upset to even force a smile. He didn't mean to blame the girl as he defended himself and explained the reason behind his actions, he only wanted to clear the misunderstanding. Read more here if you want to know the details.

Even though Dongwoo told the fans at the fansign not to track down the owner of the letter or critcize her, I bet they would anyway. Their husband was hurt afterall. And me? I'm obviously sad about this whole misunderstanding thing and I'm glad he opened up and explained the misunderstandings. I don't like it when people just remains silent and expect the others to realize the "truth" - like girlfriends getting mad their boyfriends without telling them why as they give them the silence treatment. Ugh! However, this also applies to the girl. She was upset and needed to say it out loud. Yes, her words were harsh but she was upset, wasn't she? While I don't like the fact that she made Hoya sad and all, I understands that she herself was upset enough to write that letter and boldly announced "I'll stop being your fan" to his face. If you blame her for not being understanding enough, I would say that everyone has their own limit and she couldn't have known the reasons. Not until she got upset enough to clearly show her feelings (in a rather harsh way for Hoya). It was only then that she got the explainations and understood why. She could have just asked nicely but she must have held it in for too long. If you were a big fan of someone and you're constantly being let down, I guess the frustration built up over time and finally exploded.

I'm not standing up for her. I'm mad that she hurted Hoya feelings but to be fair, she was hurt too. Now that the misunderstanding is clear, the situation is good for both side. For example, the fans (including her) now knows why Hoya looks grumpy at the airport, but super cheery at the official events. And Hoya also understands more about his own fans feelings towards his easy-to-misunderstand actions.

I don't even know what I am blapping about right now. My ultimate bias is Sunggyu, but Hoya is a major bias wrecker so he is pretty much only barely half a step behind. However, I've always tell myself to be rational as a fan. Draw a line and don't be delusional. Cuz when you do, you'll be hurt and it do harms for both side. Take L's incident for example (my rant here). He lost a relationship that was supposed to be normal but instead was treated like crime by his own fans who claimed to love him. They felt hurt by his "betrayal". I was really mad about that. That was pure illusion. Yes, call them your husband or whatever, in the end you're still just a fan. So then, at least be a good one. Although these two incidents are completely different in terms of content, they are similar in one aspects. Words. Yes, words. That thing hurts a lot if you turn it into a weapon. I understand you're upset (to the I'm-going-to-stop-being-you're-fan fan at Infinite H's fansign and the delusional fans during L's scandal) but watch your words. They are humans too. They have feelings. They don't exist for you alone. They have their own life and they are not saints. Please don't think that you can say whatever.

If you love them and want to avoid being delusional, treat them like your sons. Yes, your sons. Why? First, you can't marry to your son - whoever say yes, I have nothing left to say to you. Leave. Second, you would be happy when your son succeeds and has a cute girlfriend (not chasing her down and throwing rocks at her. Don't be a mean mother-in-law). Third, if your son makes a mistake, you scold him, but stay with him till the end of your life. What kind of a mother would abandon her son, right? No romantic feelings but there is still this unconditional love, devotion and commitment. That is what a fan should be like. Love him, but don't be delusional. Love him and treat him right. Don't just leave because of a mistake or two. Remember, idols are humans. They can't be perfect. They don't exist for you and just you.

Peace.

In case you haven't seen the performance, here it is! :)

Now I gotta rush off to the bathroom to shower and study. Watch this to feel better guys! Don't scowl at the female guest! Remember, she is a canditate as your son's wife. Judge her (good enough? no? okay, scratch her out of the list and leave her alone!) but don't kill her.
