BACKGROUND +
(Aaaah, i ed up the layout even though you said not to but i'm not sure how fix it and i'm so so sorry)
Hyejin grew up in Busan. When she was younger she had always loved everything pink and fluffy, and 'too many ruffles' wasn't part of her vocabulary.
She acted way younger than her actual age, loved fairytales and princesses, and couldn't stop dreaming about her own prince charming. She tried to be as nice and sweet as a princess should be, always behaved and her mother had even made her dresses that she would wear to school.
She had always been so full of imagination. The world as she saw it must have been so pretty, for she could talk for hours about how beautiful everything around her was, about how everything shone and how much she loved everything and everyone.
The only thing that had never fitted with her overly girly personality was her music taste. She loved hip hop and was into rapping herself. She often laughed at this big contrast, but again, she really didn't care. As long as it made her happy, it was good enough for her.
She never really realised that the way she acted was strange. Her parents never told her to wear something else, because they saw it made her so happy. The other kids at her school weren't this accepting though. Hyejin had never had that many friends, but she didn't really mind. They for "being such a baby" when she was still very young, but as she grew older, the teasing got worse and worse, and eventually turned into bullying.
All this time Hyejin didn't let these kids at school change her. She kept wearing her pretty dresses, let her hair grow long and she'd wake up an hour earlier every morning so she could curl her hair. Yes, she was scared of the other kids at school, and by now she realised she was 'weird'. Did she stop though? No, She didn't. She kept telling herself that she was acting way more mature than all those other kids, for they couldn't even accept that not everybody liked the same things. Every morning she looked into the mirror and said to her reflection that she was brave, that the others would grow out of it and that she looked damn pretty. Then she'd force a smile onto her lips and went to school.
She was 13 now, and she started getting shoved into lockers more and more often. They'd make her trip, pulled at her hair and even kicked and hit her sometimes. Most of the bullies were from the higher grades, and were around the age of 16, so there was no way she could even try to fight them off.
The situation got worse by the day, and it didn't take too long for her parents to find out. Hyejin had come home with a swollen face and a bleeding lip, and she could no longer come up with an excuse. Her parents were desperate. They tried helping her in every single way they could think of: they talked to Hyejins teachers, made sure to drop her off and pick her up at school every single day, made her see a therapist and even let her change high schools.
It didn't work though. She couldn't escape them.
And that's when her father got a life-changing job offer. He worked for a big company that also had offices in different cities, and they wanted him in Seoul. He took it, and immediately started searching for an appartement. Hyejins mother managed to find a job not soon after they got this news, and in two months, they were gone. The timing was perfect, for the new school year would start in two weeks, and she was even accepted into Seoul Arts High School.
It was a big change, moving to a different cy, and moving away from the city her mother had grown up in, but they knew it'd be best. She had always had a love for music, and especially for rapping. At this new high school she cold focus on this more, and there was a whole new music scene in Seoul that she began to love.
One of her friends took her to an underground rap battle, knowing she was going to love it, although she might not admit it that easily. And love it she did. It bcame a place for her to relieve stress, to watch raw talent perform and even to perform a bit herself. It all started off slow, stepping up once when they asked for volunteers. Even though she was incredibly scared the first time she got on that stage, she couldn't get enough of it. And the crowd couldn't get enough of her. She rapped with passion, with emotion. They could almost physically feel the hate and anger she expressed, and her lyrics weren't some meaningless crap.
She made some "friends", although their friendship wasn't very personal nor deep. They all came her to escape reality for a couple of hours, they knew that. So they didn't ask questions, they didn't force each other into things they didn't want to do, as long as thy didn't involve their musical careers and talent, they just had fun and formed an unbreakable and untouchable group within the underground community. They were friends because of their personalities instead of their background, their money or their past, and they truly cared about each other. They became closer and closer, took the friendship to a way more personal level and became inseperable, now not only meting underground, but just hanging out on a very frequent basis.
They started perorming as a group as well, made songs together and even recorded some of those at SAHS (without permission of the school, so Hyejin and Jiyoon did get in a bit of trouble afterwards, but after a couple of hours of editing, the final product was totally worth it). They have become quite known and have even performed on some of the bigger stages.
I'm just going to write the rest of her background trough her personality, because otherwise things might get even more confusing.
PERSONALITY + It takes only one look to know that you should not with her. She appears to have a permanent bored expression on her face, keeps her headphones in pretty much all the time and doesn't seem to be interested in anyone or anything.
After moving from Busan to Seoul, she could not make herself be the happy, bubbly girl she used to be anymore. She knew that she could not show up at the first day at this new school looking as a scared little girl and an easy target. So she made sure she wouldn't. Despite not giving in to those bullies for all those years, she could no longer think of life as a fairytaile, and the perttycoats became something she couldn't wear without having to think about all the pain they caused her. She build up walls around her, shutting everybody out. She no longer thought about whether what she really wanted to say or do would hurt others, it might even be better if it did. She always said whatever was on her mind, no matter how y it was. She no longer acted as if she liked things she actually hated, just to please others. She used the sharp tongue she had trained over the years to it's fullest potential and she always had an answer ready. She's good with words, giving her the advantage in most arguments and she can manage to sound like she knows what she's talking about, even if she's never heard of the subject. She might not be smarter than average, but she can sure make it seem like she is.
To sum things up, at that first day at this new high school, she looked rude, heartless and cold, but that made her untouchable. The other students were intimidated by her, and in a way it made her feel really badass. This "I-don't-give-a-" attitude really grew on her. She liked making it seem like she was permanentely bored, merely needing to look at someone to make them do what she wants them to. She loved feeling in control, and she won't let anyone talk her down or try to control her. Altough this passionate, giggly side of her hadn't been lost. It was just hidden, waiting for the right people to find it.
What had been lost though, was her love for anything girly. She had no idea how she could ever have loved something like it. She thought it looked ridiculous. Part of this dislike was probably because of all the ugly memories that they reminded her of, which were things she wanted to forget most of all.
She slowly grew more confident of herself. She no longer feared others, for she genuinely thought she was better than any of them, until proven otherwise. What she did fear was opening up to others and showing her true colours, but she made herself promise that she would never, ever do so unless she knew that these people she opened up to really were her friends. She didn't yet see her little gang at school like true friends, nor any of the other members of IRIS when they first got together. Yes, her underground group of friends, she greatly cared for them, and she knew they cared for her as well. These people know that she's a rammbler. If you trigger something in her, and get her to start talking about something she's passionate about (which are quite a lot of things), she just can't make herself stop talking. They know how easily she is obsessed which things that let her live a different life: movies, series, anime, manga and books. She consumes these series like it's her only life-source. And then there's music, hip hop music. From a few kpop groups to american rappers and those underground, music can always bring a smile to her face.
They know she is an observer. She always knows what's going on around her, and she reads people really well. If she's decided that she likes you, she'll know if somethings wrong the second she looks at you. They know she's someone they can build on, and they can always trust her to be there for them when she needs to be.
They know how beautiful her laugh sounds when it's a real one. They know how her eyes sparkle when she get's enthusiastic about something. They know that she can show gratefulness in it's purest form, and that you need only the smallest gesture to trigger it. They know that it's worth it to break down that wall of hers, no matter how long it may they, altough the rudeness and the honesty and not wanting to be controlled won't disappear, there is so much more to her than just your plain old .
Now, don't get me wrong, i know it sounds like she can't have a normal conversation with anybody ever except for when she has 'accepted' them as her friend. Although this is partly true, she won't just talk to anyone, but if she likes you or finds you interesting (and if she's in the right mood) and you do get into a conversation with her, she's really sarcastic, laid back and more of a listener than a talker. She isn't really in for eye contact and the main subjects she'll talk about will probably be music, food, politics and your general world view, some smalltalk and any subject you'll come up with that sounds remotely interesting to her.
APPEARANCE + She has a small tattoo on the back of her neck of a few music notes. These notes are the first notes of the song 'Beautiful Boy' by John Lennon, which is the song her mother used to sing to her to sleep with when she was a baby. Her mother changed the word 'boy' to 'girl' and 'daddy' to 'mommy'. Even though er english wasn't perfect, it's still one of the most beautiful things in the whole word to Jiyoon. The music notes also reference to Jiyoons love for music. She got this tattoo together with her mother and father, sho thought it was a lovely idea and supported her getting it.
AVERAGE GRADE + It truly depends on how much she cares. If a subject sparkles some interest in her, she'll try her best just because she likes doing so. If it doesn't interest her though, she'll pay zero attention to it and she won't even care if she get's an F. She already knows what it is that whe wants to do for a living -music- and anything that is not going to help her get this future is useless. After getting a bit closer to the other members of IRIS, she has started to copy notes from the Bluebird, partly because it get's her into less trouble and partly because she realises there is some basic knowledge she is going to need in her life.
Her grades vary from either straight A's to an F, altough a couple of these are slowly starting to become D's.
NICKNAMES AT SCHOOL + The Alpha - She is called this because of her dominant attitude and because she's the leader of her little 'gang' at school.
FAV. SUBJECT + Music, history of music (She kind of likes science, altough she isn't going to admit this. The only proof of her enjoying this subject are her grades)
LEAST LIKED SUBJECT + Acting, physics
BEHAVIOR IN CLASSES + She often looks bored, looking out the window when the teacher is talking or sketching or writing down some words that obviously have nothing to do with the subject. Yes, she's oftenly doing this without anything else to it, but there are a few subjects where she's actually paying attention, altough it might not look like it. She won't actively participate in the classes though - after all, she has an image she needs to maintain -.
CLUBS + The Production club. Altough she didn't choose to join them because of the social aspect, she is very interested in producing. She doesn't talk too much with the other members, and spends most of the club hours on her own, working. The other members don't really dare talking to her and just leave her alone, unless she comes to them. She does help other members in need though, sometimes. Her face won't express even the slightest hint of emotion, she won't say anything to you, but just do what has to be done and go back to her own spot again. Altough they might not talk to her, they can see that's she's very talented and a great pride for the club.
PART-TIME JOBS + She does make a little money by winning a rap batle every now and then, but that's not enough to cover her expenses. She does some occasional server work at the same cafe Saeryun works at as well, but this is more of a "Just call me when you need someone" thing.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE + She realises that she'll get the most fame and acknowledgement if she becomes an idol, but she's not entirely sure whether the title idol would be something she could wear with pride. it's just not real enough for her, and she most likely won't be able to do what she wants to do, for her future'd be partly decided by a group of other girls. She has started to doubt this theory though, noticing that there were some groups that get quite a lot of freedom, but YG Entertainment has some really good artists, Epik High being her favourite, so she has thought about giving that a shot as well. So, she'll either try and become a solo artist or maybe try and get their underground group to a higher level (mind my words, artist, not idol), or try and get into one of the companies, and would love to be able to combine this with producing as well. She isn't sure which one though. One of her main reasons for auditioning for the idol group is figuring out whether this kind of group work would suit her. She would also be able to make herself a bit more wellknown, and getting her name out there might give her a better chance at a music career.
Ryu Hyejin
was born on january 8th, 1997 from a korean father and a korean mother in BUSAN,. Currently 18 years old, she grew up in busan thus making her fluent in korean. Standing at 169cm for 56kg, Ryu Hyejin is notably known for looking like JINA or even sometimes Yoo Hyeon jin.
PERSONALITY + loving, determined, prankster, rude, angered easily, manipulative, protective (yes, this could be a possitive trait as well, but there is this line between good and bad that Yoongi often crosses)
There are a lot of things they seem to have in common at first glance, although there where Hyejin acts like your typical all the time, Yoongi seems to be everything you can expect a bad boy to be. He's always flirting with every single girl he can spot and is angered very easily, causing him to get into fights quite frequentely He drinks and is a real party animal, is very well aware of how good looking he is and is very rude. He's good with words and can be very, very manipulative. It doesn't matter what age or gender you are, there's no way he can't make you do what he wants if he tries hard enough. This has gotten others in trouble more than once, but he seems to have no concience whatsoever. He's arrogant and spoiled, and always wants to get what he wants, no matter how far he has to go, or how far he has to push himself. Yes, putting it like this makes him sound spoiled, which is partly true, but he's also very determined and a hard worker. He's very protective over his friends, family and other things he cares greatly for, and he's willing to fight for these people. He would do anything for them, he would give up everything he has. And, he's a rapper, and quite a good one at that. He's the kind of boy that every mother warns her daughter for.
He showed a different side of himself to Hyejin though, or should I say sides, for he adapts very well to all situations. He made it so obvious he loved everything about her, that even the most naïve person in the whole world would need less than a second to see the way he looks at her to know that he truly cared about this girl. That he is addicted to both her personalities that he has come to know off. He feels like a little kid again, going on an adventure, the adventure that she is to him. He wants to know everything there is to know about her, even though she won't know most of this herself. He wants to explore her, hold her, treasure her, protect her, because even though she is flawed, he know he is too, and it only makes her perfect. He never hid his affection for her, and still doesn't. He makes sure that every second they are together, and every second they are not, she knows how much he loves her.
He makes the lamest jokes ever when he's around her, but this lame sense of humour is countered with a very contagious laugh. He likes to fool around, mess just a little bit with her as well as others, but he always keeps it innocent. He likes pulling pranks and is pretty good at it as well.
They can have very serious conversations though (and less serious ones). They can talk about anything and everything, from serious subjects to the less serious ones and their little debates can get pretty heated, but they (mostly) wont get angry at each other, and even when they do, it takes seconds for them to make it up to each other. They just like getting passionate about something, knowing that the other will most likely have a good counter-argument for anything they say which makes it a real challenge (and it just really turns them on to see the other being all passionate and heated about something)
They're both not what you could call innocent, and have had quite some experience despite already, despite their age. He likes teasing her a bit when they're in a very inappropriate situation, like in a bigger group of people, etc. Since both's friends are mostly older than they are, their mental age is a bit higher.
Yoongi grew up in Seoul. His father worked for the ambassy and got assigned at a post in the USA when Yoongi was 14. Despite having all his friends and a whole life in Seoul, they moved to Washington DC. Yoongi had just started rapping back home in Korea and decided to continue doing this in his new hometown. It was very hard for him to overcome the language barrier the first months they lived there, for although he had been paying extra attention to his English studies, he could hardly have a normal education there. He no longer had his reputation he had back in Korea, and had to start all over again from scratch, for the other kids at school could not take this little Korean boy seriously. Over the years he proved himself though, and found his place at school as the troublemaker and the bad boy. His older friends took him to parties, taught him how to stand up for himself and how to seduce the ladies. They taught him, in their words, "how to be a man". After the planned period of four years, they moved back to Korea, Yoongi now being 19 and still having to finish his last year at school, for he failed most of his classes in his first year in America due to his struggle with learning the language. He had kept in touch with his old friends over the years, so when he came back to Korea these friends were there waiting for him.
Back at school he was a hotshot, not only because he had lived in the USA for four years, but because his attitude and the way he immediately dominated the school as well. The influence those fours years had had on him was obvious, and hated as well as loved.
INTERACTIONS + -Described most of the way they act around each other in Yoongis personality bit, but I'll try and further explain here, hope you don't mind :/-
Hyejin was surprised at the way she acted around Yoongi after they started getting a bit closer. She just felt so careless and safe. She felt like a little kid again, the way she was giggling and laughing, fooling around all the time. She couldn't help but feel all warm inside whenever she even thought of him. She was acting like such a hopeless romantic, which felt weird and confusing, but not unpleasant. She seemed to be the more mature one of the two though, and was a bit better at not entirely letting herself go. She played their game a bit more teasingly, liking the control she had over him. She liked the physical contact htey shared, not necesarilly in a romantic way, just feeling his body against her own was enough. Their relationship wasn't only cute childishness though. They liked challenging the other, pushing them a tiny little bit out of their comfort zone. They liked having someone they could fully trust to talk to, knowing the other would listen. They liked the feeling of being loved, adored. They liked feeling damn badass as theywalked side to side, being called the killer duo. They liked not having to try all the time when they were with each other. They didn't need to talk all the time, for the silences weren't uncomfortable. They could just bdo their own thing and being around each other would be enough to make them happy already. They liked how they shared the same interests and how they helped each other improve wherever they could. They liked all the unknowingness, the insecurities and the new feeeings they were experiencing, for they all felt so.. new. They liked knowing that the other didn't have any expectations of them, and that being themselves would be the best they could be, for they loved and respected all the sides they had seen of each other and knew they would love the sides they had yet come to know as well. They saw each others imperfections and had their irritations and arguments (lot's of them actually), and yes, they hated it, but without them their relationship wouldn't have felt real. They both just felt truly happy with each other, and even though they might not have been sure why, they were more than satisfied.
MEETING + Only a day after Yoongi arrived in Seoul Namjoon took him underground to show him what he missed out on and to introduce Yoongi to his new life style and friends. They had a group performance as well as individual battles planned for the night. As soon as he as he arrived everyone except Jiyoon introduced themselves to him, for she had been part of their group of friends before he left. They hadn't really been part of the underground scene back then, so it was all quite new to Yoongi, but he seemed to enjoy it from the second he walked in.
Hyejin wasn't sure whether she liked him or not when they first met, but when she saw the smiles on Namjons and Jiyoons faces, she knew he couldn't be that bad, and decided to give him a shot. It was funny to see how everybody's attitude, including hers, chaged upon the arrival of a stranger, even though it was very predictable. They all acted tough when they were in public, for it was the part they played, and the reputation they had to hold high.
As the night continued Hyejin started to get along a bit better with him, but their highlight was definately just after Hyejins, or GJBs, first rap battle, shich she flawlessly won. Namjoon had tried to convince Yoongi , for he knew Yoongi did some rapping back in the States and was very curious towards his style and skills. When they asked the audience whether anyone dared to take on Hyejin, Namjoon raised Yoongi's hand and shoved him towards the stage, with a satisfied smirk on his face.Yoongi had to admit he was slightly shocked, but kept walking, full of confidence, and introduced himself as Sugamore like a duo performance than a battle, for they worked together amazingly and gave off a really nice vibe. These few minutes gave Hyejin a whole other perspective on Yoongi, from his lyrics to his style and the attitude he showed while on stage, and she actually really liked it. Hyejin wouldn't admit to liking him just yet, and it was going to but it sure was a nice start.
RELATIONSHIP/ENDING + Boyfriend/girlfriend
SCANDAL/GOSSIP + it could be about her love life, her personality, everything you could think of (at least one true and one false)
— A couple of months before the story starts / being an underground rapper / One day some kid asked Hyejin and Jiyoon whether it was true they were underground rappers, and both girls were quite surprised that this was known within the school. They personally never told anyone except for their little gang of friends because they just don't think it is any of their business or would do them any good. They ignored the kid but still both wondered how the word spread. It's not like it's a huge secret or anything, and if they want to know, let them be, but it just feels a bit weird there being a connection between school and their lives outside of it. / true
— Around a year ago / being the reason someone changed schools / Hyejin had to admit that she might've went a bit far with what she says to everyone, but she doesn't feel like she did anything wrong either. Until a kid whould have left school because of her anyway. She had been "intimidating" him the same way she had done to many others, maybe slightly crossing the lone of bullying at some points. All of a sudden this girl was gone though, and she changed school in the middle of the year. Rumours spread it would have been because of the way Hyejin treated her, and Hyejin felt pretty damn guilty. So, she managed to find out which school the girl changed to and went there one day to say confirm these rumours, and, when true, apologise. It appeared that the girl had just been failing too many of her classes though and no longer had the dream to become an artist. In order to not fail the year, she's have to drop all the artsy subjects, so she moved schools, where she was now doing okay. This whole meeting just turned into a really awkward situation and Hyejin never spoke to the girl again, but was at least quite relieved it wasn't her fault. / false
