`all that glitters is not gold — Ryu Hyejin

` all that glitters is not gold.

: : introducing the devoted miss Ryu Hyejin : :

quick runthrough

character name — Ryu Hyejin

aliases/nicknames:

Jin / Jiji

Dip: she enjoys calling people names that are funnier than they are offensive and at some point people started calling her 'Dip' back.

- Eyes: something her Jellyfish Ent. dance teacher started calling her at one of her first dance practices and he still does to this day. The other trainees thought it was too funny not to use too.

appearance —

faceclaim + backup faceclaim: Park Sooyeon (s.yeon/여왕) (1 2 3 4 5

Backup: Seulgi - Red Velvet

height + weight: 166cm + 44kg

dress  style: She doesn't nescecarily have one favourite style and she changes things up quite often. There is one thing that has been appearing in most of her recent outfits though: high wasted bottoms. She thinks it looks better on her and she enjoys the snug feeling of it around her waist.

She has been wearing a lot of skirts lately. She loves skater skirts, and she has this leather one that she really likes.  1 2 3 4 5 6 What kind of top she wears depends on the style she's going for that day. When wanting to dress classy she could go for a blouse or just a really nice skirt. If she's going for something that looks a bit more to the cute side she might wear a lace top or a pullover in softer colours and thigh high socks. She does like still keeping a bit of a y element in there so she might opt for a shorter skirt to compensate. For a more y or badass look she'd pick darker colours for for example lace turtleneck croptops, bustiers or leather jackets

When she doesn't really feel like wearing skirts an option she often goes for is a combination is very light blue, bleached and ripped jeans (jeans in middle picture) in and an oversized simple white shirt or blouse and her Timberland heels, topped off with smaller gold jewerly.

Ripped shorts and a blouse with longer necklaces and lots of in-theme wristbands make her feel like a total pirate and she has to admit she kinda enjoys that.

physical appearance/body description (if needed): Most idols are incredibly skinny, and their weight loss diets have been pushing new extremes as of lately. Hyejin caught on to this trend to and decided that she's have to get a flatter tummy. She had been working out quite a lot during her trainee period, mainly focusing on her and stomach muscles. In the weeks before her debut she decided that it wasn't good enough yet, so she combined a more intense work out regime with a stricter diet. It's safe to say that her body did not really liked this. She wanted to look better if she was going to debut though, so she didn't stop. She loves food and has a pretty decent metabolism so she nowhere near enjoyes it, but she still reconsidered every single thing she eats and ended up eating as little as she could in a day. This does give her less energy when working out and during the tough practices and she has been feeling dizzy more often lately. She doesn't want to disappoint anyone so she allows herself to eat just a bit more in order for her to be able to be the best she can be during practice. She isn't anorexic, despite showing some of the symptoms, but her BMI of 16,4 isn't particularly healthy either. She is pretty satisfied with her current body, so now she just tries to keep it that way. She has never told Jang Taejin about this, and she hopes he's not going to find out.

She has multiple piercings: in her right ear she has a double earlobe and a helix piercing, in the other ear she only has a double earlobe one.

She got a minor plastic surgery done on her nose, not long after she didn't make the selection for EvoL when she was still training under Stardom Entertainment.

blood type — O positive

birthday + age  — 7th of december, 20 (born in 1995)

birth place + hometown— She was born in Daegu, Korea. She moved to Seoul when she was 13 years old.

ethnicity + nationality — Korean

languages —

-Korean | Fluent | She still knows how to speak with a Daegu accent and whenever she visits her hometown or speaks with people from Daegu again she slips back into it. She usually no longer speaks with the accent though, especially not when it's related to her music career.

-English | Not anywhere near fluent, but at least she kind of knows what she's doing |  She is trying to improve her english, mainly by reading english books and listening to english songs because she doens't really like studying languages. She might just be a bit better than most of her friends and school mates though. She knows her basic conversations and she's heard people with worse accents.

on the stage

stage persona —

stage personality  On-stage she is really confident and flirty. It's obvious from her stage presence that she really, really enjoys doing what she does. There is, with it's rare exceptions here and there, always a smile on her face, whether it'll be a smirk or a more happy one. She really enjoys playing with the audience and isn't ashamed of anything. Heartily laughing when she makes a mistake she makes everyone forget that she even messed up in the first place. She never holds back on expressing her gratefulness and love for the fans and really enjoys the interaction she can have with the audience. It really seems like she doesn't have anything bothering her when she's performing and her entire presence just screams confidence. Giving just that extra bit of fan service, she knows how to give the fans what they want and she absolutely loves doing it.

talent points —

— singing :: 5/10

— rapping : 1/10

— acting :: 6/10

— dancing :: 6/10

— variety :: 9/10

— mc-ing :: 8/10

strengths + weaknesses

She might not be blessed with an amazing voice, but she has a good ear for music and her timing and flow are better than her actual singing skills. This really helps her when it comes to dancing too. Even though she might not always manage to do it, she does know what to do.

Stardom isn't exaclty known for producing great vocalists and she didn't take good classes before joining a company either. She's getting better classes at Jellyfish Entertainment but she hasn't been there for that long and there are a few things that she has been doing wrong for so long that they're incredibly hard for her to start doing in a different way, since she's so used to it. Due to lack of talent and not having a good teacher she lacks quite a few things technique wise, despite having trained for over 6 years. Her tone production is good, but her range is quite narrow, she sings from too often and isn't very good at mixing up her chest and head voice during a performance. When she sings more softly her support will improve quite a lot and her intonation is often quite good though. Her tone production is very good strong and she s in fact able to hit a soprano c. Overall, she isn't a great singer and she knows that, but she has taught herself a few tricks to make her seem better. One of these is the openness with which she sings and she's able to reach out to the entire room when singing. This in combination with her confidence on stage often makes her vocal skills appear better than they really are through her stage presence.

With dancing too she knows how to make herself appear better than she actually is, which is by using her facial expressions to their full potential. She has full control over what others like to call her ' eyes' and has practiced smiling, flirting and a whole lists of other things to and with the viewers while dancing ever since Hansol first gave her this tip back at Stardom. She's actually quite proud of this skill. Her favourite choreographies are ier ones. She finds these easier and since she does have loose hips she pulls them off really well. Even if the choreo get's quicker, as long as she's in her element, she usually manages. Cutesy dances are doable too but she feels a lot less comfortable doing these and she isn't that good at these either. She is a lot less good at different styles of dancing. She absolutely loves watching people breakdance or watching more hip hop style dances, but she's very bad at these. She knows quite a lot of boy group choreos but she can't dance them properly, even though she'd love too. She's also not good at improvising. If she has to do this, she will either fail very very hard or just combine parts of dances she already knows, which isn't exactly improvising.

(The whole 'her getting hate' part is kind of a scene request I guess? Or at least a scenario/development that I would like to happen after her debut? It felt more appropraite to place it here though, since it also involves her skill set. I'll probably mentoin it in a different part of this application too!  sorry if this is inconvenient)

After her debut she got quite a lot of hate for her general lack of skills. According to them, she's pretty good looking, but other than that she doesn't add anything to the group. They call her useless and untalented and wonder why they don't just kick her out of the group.

The k-pop industry is a harsh one and it's not like this is the first time for Hyejin that she hears comments like this. She's aware of her flaws, but she's also aware of her talents. She's quite proud of her variety show skills and believes that that can be her addition to the group: she can work as an advert for the group, grab people's attention and let the other members blow them away with their musical skills. It might sound a bit arrogant when put like this, but she believes that her personality might just be the skill the group needs and if that enables her to do what she likes best than she doesn't see a reason not to be proud of it. After all, she has seen the effect she can have on people for quite a while now, she didn't just come up with it out of nowhere.

trainee years + previous companies — Over 6 years. She came to Jellyfish about a year before MELODY's debut. Before this she had been training at Stardom Entertainment, where she sterted training in 2009, at age 14. She had a five month break in between leaving Stardom and entering Jellyfish due to failed auditions.

audition + trainee experience

She was very, very happy to get through Jellyfish Entertainment’s audition rounds. After starting her training her she quickly realised that it was very different from what she was used to at her old company. For starters, most of the trainees were really good vocalists and that she was seriously lacking some skill. At some point she went up to her vocal coach and asked for extra lessons since whatever it was that she was doing know was simply embarassing. She knew she wasn’t a great vocalist, but this once again reminded her of how many basic skills she was lacking. He agreed to do this and even though she had a lot of bad habbits that were very hard to break, very slowly she was at least making a bit of progress. She’s still very grateful towards this vocal coach for spending so much extra time on her and she hopes to be able to repay him properly one day.

Not that long after she joined the company rumours were spreading about the possible debut of a new girl group. Hyejin had been working her off as soon as her first day of training had started and she knew that she had been working really hard, which the company must have noticed too, but she was still terrified of not making it again.

(I’m not sure at what moment your story will start and I have no clue how to let her interact with the other trainees properly since I’m not sure who will be there and who you want us to interact with. Is it okay of I leave it like this or should I add some more?)

things she'd like to keep secret —After Hyejin didn't make the final cut for Stardom's EvoL she started showing some minor signs of depression. Her parents and friends we're extremely worried and het mother made her an appointment with one of her close friends, Kim Hyongsoo. This friend was a psychiatrist but since she came over to Hyejin's parents' house and they didn't have to pay her for his services, it was not recorded anywhere. Thy were all aware of the strictness of the Korean health care system and Hyejin did not want to get any help whatsoever if it might hold her back later on in her life. She had several appointments with the psychiatrist but since she didn't suffer from a more serious form of depression little check up's we're all that she was going to need. At the moment she is no longer seeing Hyongsoo other than when her mother makes dinner for her friends where he is invited too. She still has his number saved on her phone though, and he has told her multiple times that she can call him whenever she feels like she might need it. No one other than her parents, Hansol and of course Hyongsoo know about this.

predebut activities (prior to 2015)

- She made a very small appearance in Block B's Nillili Mambo MV (she's the hairdresser from the first scene)

goals

- She wants to become an artist of who fans can proudly say that they're a fan.

- She wants to bring the other members closer together since the group dynamics aren't that good at the moment. She wants the team to be a real family, and she will do everything she can in order to make that happen.

- She wants to go on variety shows, and even try MCing if she get's the chance.

- She wants to make new friends.

level of education —  She has never been a great student, she never got straight A's, but she wasn't a bad one either. She just got by, and that was good enough. In 2011, after hearing that she was possibly going to debut, she started paying even less attention to school. When her grades started dropping a bit due to the intense training regime that she was following, she didn't even really care. She did finish high school, but not with great grades. She decided not to go to college since she wanted a music career and nothing else. She kewn she wasn't going to get into one of the better coleges anyway so she though i wasn't going to be wirth it anyway andwanted to fully focus on her training.

feelings towards the hwayeon scandal and the aftermath — When she heard of the scandal, she mainly just didn't understand how someone could even let that happen. Didn't becoming an idol mean taking good care of your responsibilities? Sure, the idol life must be tough, she had her fair share after having trained for years. A drug scandal really crossed that line though. Did Hwayeon not realise that she was not only destroying her own career, but that of her band members as well? She felt really bad for the other members of PHOENIX but wasn't surprised when they never made a comeback, despite their potential.

liar's game

personailty keywords — Social, loving, nosey, too idealistic

fatal flaw —  Even though she knows it's wrong and that it goes against pretty much everything she stands for, she really can't stop herself from being nosey. She's a very curious person and wants to know what's going on around her. She tends to involve herself in things that might not be any of her business (preferably without any of the other parties involved noticing) and once she hears people talking about something that could possibly of her interest (whether it be positive or not) she can't stop herself from eavesdropping. It's a trait that she's very ashamed of.

personality —

She just really loves people. She loves talking to others, getting to know them better and learning more about them and their interests. She loves listening to others’ stories and telling her own in return. She loves making friends and being around people she cares about. She wants the people around her to be happy and she likes making others smile. This isn’t necessarily combined with an endless amount of energy, not at all. She loves fooling around and she can get quite hyper, but this doesn’t mean she doesn’t like calmer or more serious conversations.

Off-stage she is one of the most genuine people you will come across in this industry. She never takes anything she get's for granted and she's incerdibly grateful to everyone around her.

She really wants to make the people she meets smile and happy. She enjoys helping others and cares a lot about those she get's close to. She get's attached really easily though, which is never in anyones favour.

She would go to the end of the world for her friends and family. She does care a lot about her career too though so if she'd have to give that up for someone she loves then things would get really, really complicated. Depending on how much she actually cares about the person she might actually choose for her own career. She would never let her family, best friends or members down though.

If they'd wanted, she would be quite easily manipulatable by her friends (as long as she actually sees them as such). Her trust in her friends just can be blinded by her love for them. This has happened before a few times in the past and these aren't exactly nice memories.

She loves her fans a lot too. If she could, she'd probably spend every single second in her spare time interacting with fans, but she's afraid it might come over as pushy or unreal (it's also simply not possible to do. Then again, she'd make it possible if she'd have to). Having actual fans is the thing she looked forward to most and has been motivating her ever since she joined her first company. They inspire her and she wants to find a way to return all the love that they're giving her group, no matter how small their numbers migth be. She thought it would've been easier to talk to them though. It takes her more than she'd could've imagined to put her thoughts into words or write something entertaining. Her messages might be short and simple at times, but she hopes the fans know that she does really try.

If she's not posting anything herself, she's probably reading messages others left them on SNS or just searching through their tags. She's really curious as to what people are saying about them despite knowing that everytime she browses through their tags there will be hate in there too.

She doesn’t handle hate that well. She doesn’t let the basic hate comments get to her, but as soon as the comments get more personal they really lower her self-esteem. At moments like these she get’s very ashamed of herself and is very scared of dissapointing anyone. She tries her hardest not to let anyone know how badly it affects her though. She will remind herself that everybody get’s hate and just tell herself to get over it.

She really needs some social interaction from time to time. She's very much an extrovert and a team person. She doesn't even want to think about the possibility of her doing a solo debut because the members and her are all in this together as a team and she wants to have them by her side on stage at all times. Even though she wants to upload solo songs and would love to do solo or sub-unit stages at festivals or maybe even collaborations, she wouldn't ever want to do actual promotions without even a single member.

She's very talkative and can be quite the moodmaker. She has a huge collection of entertaining stories and can always come up with new things to talk about. She's curious, asks lot's of questions and tries to give others their time to shine too when needed. As soon as the conversations are likely to fall silent she will jump in and get it all going again though. And she's not just good at the more funny and entertaining conversations either. She's just very interested in others and likes talking to them, no matter how serious the conversation is or what's it about (most of the time. There are, of course, exceptions.) She has an incredibly lame sense of humour but somehow still manages to pull it off as actually funny, mainly through the way she puts it and laughs at her own jokes.

She tends to be a bit too talkative though, which can get on other people's nerves. She's not the greatest at reading people and her trait of talking a lot can get annoying.

She's not the brightest either. She's not exaclty stupid, just.. not the brightest? There are a few subjects that really fascinate her and she's worked hard to learn about these so if she starts talking about those things, she can come across as really intelligent but honestly, she really isn't. She can be really clumpsy (although this doens't tend to happen when dancing is involved. She's not sure why, but she's definately grateful for this.). She's pretty forgetful too.

Once she sets herself a goal, she gets incredibly determined and won't stop until she has reached it, no matter what. She probably couldn't have trained as long as she did without this trait and she's damn proud of it.

She can be too idealistic, even if get's really unrealistic. She just sometimes forgets that the world doesn't have to be as beautiful as she makes it seem in her head and that people won't always be as nice as she had imagined them to be (whenever she remembers this she get's more heistant about meeting her sunbaes BTS, since she doesn't want to be let down after they have been such an inspiration to her all this time). She can't always do what she wants to do and she can't always be as perfect as she wants to be, nor can others. She doesn't always think about the consequences things she does might have and this can make her reckless.

(this is her fatal flaw but I'll just add it here too, just in case~)

Even though she knows it's wrong and that it goes against pretty much everything she stands for, she really can't stop herself from being nosey. She's a very curious person and wants to know what's going on around her. She tends to involve herself in things that might not be any of her business (preferably without any of the other parties involved noticing) and once she hears people talking about something that could possibly of her interest (whether it be positive or not) she can't stop herself from eavesdropping. It's a trait that she's very ashamed of.

background —

Her parents had always been very loving and motivating, and always stood behind the decisions she made, whether they agreed with them or not. They thought that even if she made mistakes, she'd learn from them and this is the main thought they had when they raised her. They wanted her to live her own life, not the one they had planned out for her. Yes, she'd make mistakes if they weren't there to warn her and yes, she'd get hurt and disapppointed and know regret, but she'd always pull trough and come out of it even stronger. She'd learn from experience, not from words and it would make her strong.

At the age of 10 she started started getting really interested in pop music instead of the music she had grown up with, which was mainly her dad's western Indie. She was fascinated by the beautiful idols whe saw dancing and singing on elaborate stages, with tons of fans supporting them as they performed. From that moment onwards she knew that she wanted to stand on a stage like that too. She wanted to know how it felt to sing in front of so many people that would adore her. She had never been a great singer or dancer, she knew that, so her dream seemed far out of her reach. That didn't stop her from trying though. The one admirable trait she had even at that young age was her determination. As she started dancing more she began to like it a lot, even though she wasn't showing that much improvement. Her singing did start to get a bit better though.

She was getting more and more serious about her dream of becoming an idol. In 2009, when she was 14, she went on a trip to Seoul with her parents and she knew that during the time she was going to be there, Stardom Entertainment was going to hold auditions. She wanted to try out, just to give it a shot, but her friends and other school mates were very unmotivating and told her that she shouldn't bother, because she wasn't going to get in anyway. She still applied, she still auditioned and she got accepted, even if it was only just. They saw her determination and since she was still so young, they had faith in her growing up to become a great idol. Her parents were incredibly happy for her and wanted to help her as much as they possibly could. They started searching for a new job and only two months after Hyejin had started her training at Stardom, living in the dorms, they moved to Seoul too. They weren't rich, but they got by anyway and a new chapter of their lives was about to start. Hyejin entered a high school in Seoul, made friends and trained every single day. She was a very hard worker and she was making quite some progress. The coaches didn't seem to be too happy with her though. Her singing skills we're okay, but they weren't as great as they wanted them to be, and they felt the same about her dancing.

As she was growing up in Seoul she began getting into the underground hip hop scene more and even though she didn't visit shows that often, she did develop a strong love for the genre. She even tried rapping but very soon found out that that was simply not her thing. She was okay with that though, there were multiple female rapper trainees at the company so there would have been a very small chance of her making it as a rapper anyway.

She wasn't becoming as pretty as they had been hoping either and her appearance didn't really suit the hip hop concept that Stardom had in mind for their next girl group. As she was spending so much time at the company, she started making more friends too. There were mainly male trainees, but she didn't really care about that. After all, Kim Hansol was great at the girl group choreographies and Shin Jiho was just a great friend in general. She spent most of her time with these two guys, that would later debut under the stage names Hansol and Xero in Topp Dogg. Jiho, who was only a year older than she was, went to the same school, which is how they started hanging out at first. Hansol joined the duo and the three of them became very close.

In october 2011, just before Hyejin turned sixteen, Stardom Entertainment announced that they were planning on debuting a girl group. After hearing this Hyejin began practicing even harder, she started dieting even more and she was paying less attention to school. She had never been a great student, she never got straight A's, but she wasn't a bad one either. She just got by, and that was good enough. As her grades started dropping a bit due to the intense training regime that she was following, she didn't even really care. All she cared about at that moment was making sure that she would get to debut.

Woo Jiho, also known as Zico, was a trainee under Stardom as well, and Hyejin had always admired him a lot. She had joined a group of trainees once as they secretly went to one of his underground performances and she had to admit that he had a lot of potential. He also intimidated her a bit though so she never really dared to go up to him. He did start approaching her more in the beginning of 2012 and they started getting a bit closer, mainly over their shared love for music and anime. He had just debuted at the time and really appreciated the support and motivation Hyejin gave him whenever they talked.

In 2012 Stardom Entertainment debuted the girl group, EvoL, without her. According to them, she had dissapointed them and she simply wasn't idol material. She had not made the cut and now she had to watch her friends debut without her. Hyejin was shocked, devestated and an emotional wreck. She kept going to school with a smile on her face, despite it being fake more often than not, she began losing touch with her two best friends and started showing signs of depression. Stardom had not kicked her out yet since her contract hadn’t ended yet and she would be stuck with the company for an extra two years. The other artists under the company had become her family over the years that she spend there as a trainee and even after everything, she was hestitant about leaving.

Xero was showing up less often at school since he was preparing for his own debut but he and Hansol tried to meet up with her whenever they could to cheer her up, which worked at least a little bit.

In the beginning of 2013 the situation between Block B and Stardom had escalated, and the members of Block B had filed a lawsuit against their company. Zico, despite having very little free time, had been talking a lot to Hyejin about the ongoing situation, the hate his group had been getting and the problems they were facing. Most of all, he warned Hyejin to get out of the company as soon as she could.

It was around this time that she found out about this new boy group that was about to debut: BTS. She liked their hip hop concept and she had pretty high expectations.

The ex-CEO of the company commited suicide and Block B left. Everything was utter chaos. She completely lost touch with Zico, who had cut off all the connections he had with his previous company. She didn’t blame him for any of it and she understood his anger towards the company, but she relly needed someone to talk to at this moment and she felt lost and lonely. She spend Hansol’s every single free second with him and he always managed to comfort her. She kept in touch with Xero too, but he had never really been a good talker. His optimism and hugs were greatly appreciated, but she found her best friend in Hansol.

She never stopped training, and often joined the to-be-Topp Dogg trainees too, even if it was just to watch them. She really didn’t like being alone at this moment and there weren’t a lot of other trainees under the company at the moment. Even if there were, they didn’t show up that often.

BTS had debuted by now and their songs strangely cheered her up. She managed to get more motivated to not give up yet and it was the little motivation boost that she had really needed at the time.

Stardom had been planning on already having debuted Topp Dogg but that was post poned until later that august.

Topp Dogg debuted and she was incredibly happy for her freinds. EvoL on the other hand wasn’t doing great and she was not sure whether to be sad or relieved about this. Whenever she saw the other girls they were too tired to even try to be nice to her and even though she understood how hard it must be for them, it didn’t exactly make her feel better.

Her contract ended at the start of 2014 and she left the company immediately. She had no idea what to do at first but after spending a week at home with her parents she decided that she still wanted to pursue a music career. She looked up audition schedules and started preparing again.

Her friends, especially Hansol and Xero, were sligthly hesistant when Hyejin announced that she was going to audition again at a different company since they didn't want her to get hurt again, but they knew that they couldn't get in the way of her determination either and they supported her on her search for a new company. They even made time for her to help her prepare for her audition, as they were both great dancers and had taught her a lot already over the years.

Hyejin auditioned at multiple companies but got rejected at the first three attempts. Jellyfish Entertainment was the next company to hold auditions. Even though their last girl group had been a huge failure with the group possibly having broken up after a drug schandal, she decided to give it a shot anyway. At least Jellyfish had a reputation of producing good vocalists, especially male ones. She knew that her vocal skills were lacking so even though that might make it harder for her to get in, it would most likely help her improve a lot too.

She was training really hard and so were Hansol and Xero. They had barely any spare time left and met up less and less often.

At Stardom quite a lot trainees had liked her because of her dedicated and caring nature, and this went for her time at Jellyfish as well: people liked her in general, quite a few of the trainees trusted her and she helped them whenever they needed it. She just didn't have any good friends like the friendship she had with Hansol and Xero. This did make her a bit lonely, but she was so focused on training and becoming good enough to finally debut, something she had been desperately wishing and waiting for.

family —

» Ryu Hakkun | Father | 53Her father is impulsive, stubborn, loving and an incredibly good talker. Whenever they see each other they mainly just talk. They talk about their lives, politics, music, philosophical topics, the list goes on. Not only do they both have a very clear opinion on most things, they have a very lively imagination too. Over the years he has tried to teach her a lot about standing up for herself and how to use words to their ultimate extend, and even though she never got as good as he was, she was slowly learning. They love each other a lot and he will always support her, whatever she does. | Lawyer | 5

» Ryu Eunkyun | Mother | 49 | Her mother is trustworthy, open minded,a bit  forgetful and quite a perfectionist. Hyejins relationship with her mother is fine. Unlike with her father, there are quite a lot of silences between the two of them, but they aren't uncomfortable ones.they both also really appreciate the little things in life and care about each other a lot. Hyejin knows her mother will always have her back. | Secretary | 4

» Kim Hansol | 22 | affectionate (really likes skinship, he does a lot of aegyo too) / knows how to make things work out in his favour (gentle manipulation; an example of this is that he knows very well how to use shipping in his advance) / get's excited really easily / very extroverted / cares a lot about his image / always up for anything activity wise' he has an endless amount of energy | idol (member of Topp Dogg) | 5 | see background | They still talk to each other on a daily basis. Hansol is Hyejin's best friend (as the '5' rating might already have suggested.

» shin jiho (xero) | 21 | laid-back (in social aspects) / committed (to his job, friends and family. When he does something, he does it properly) / he's pretty whiny and get's annoyed easily when he's tired / optimistic  | idol (member of Topp Dogg) | 4 | see background |

» Woo Jiho (Zico) | 23 | responsible, can feel a bit too superior, workaholic, his sense of humour is basically just sarcasm, when he's just fooling around with friends he can start acting really immature | idol /rapper (member of Block B) | 3 | see background | Eight months after Hyejin left Stardom she coincidentally bumped into Zico again. Despite the rough end to their previous friendship, they got along well again and we’re happy to hear they were both doing better now that they had left Stardom. They talked for quite a while and exchanged phone numbers before they parted ways again. They don’t see each other all that often, but when they do they have a pretty good time.

» Ahn Jimin | 20 | Half of the things that come out of are puns / can be a bit bossy / dramatic / supportive / bright / loyal / challenging/ cooperative | waiter in her parent's restaurant and student | 4 | They met in high school, not long after Hyejin started attending her new school in Seoul. Despite having very different interests and goals, they got along really well and became good friends. | They no longer see each other that often, but they still keep in touch over Kakao. Jimin had always been a good student and her hard work payed off, resulting in her studying physics now. She had always been good in the beta subjects and she helped Hyejin when she wanted to know more about space and a variety of mathmatic subjects.

» She will probably have made a friend in Jellyfish Entertainment by now too. This could either be your character (but you'd have to be okay with that of course ^^ I have to admit I haven't checked your character out yet though, so I'm not yet sure how well they'd get along ^^"), or maybe a  different member or even staff (I was thinking of going for Lee Seunggyu if you were to go for this option, since I can imagine Hyejin spending a lot of time with him, trying to improve her singing abilities. This could be a good way for them to get to know each other better. I think a friendship between Jang Taejin and Hyejin could work too but he probably wouldn't be too happy to hear about Hyejin's diet that she started just before their debut, without letting him know )

Let me know what you like best! I'm fine with any of these options, so you can pick if you want to~

hobbies/other talents

» Covers. Like probably every other singer out there she had always really enjoyed singing songs from other artists. She never really saw a reason to actaully record any covers until BTS inspired her to do so though. After seeing how on of the BTS members uploaded a cover every once in a while and seeing how happy it made all the fans (her included, she'd have to admit), she knew that she wanted to be able to do this for her fans too. At this moment she had only just gotten through one of the first selection rounds for the new girl group Cube was going to be debuting, but the thought of actually making it motivated and excited her a lot. At  first she just started searching for a lot of songs that would fit her well. She really wanted to start covering songs to give herself some more practice but she never managed to actually recond something until after her debut. Whenever she get's the chance she wants to start with softer and sweeter songs. One day she might even gather all her courage together and cover a BTS song but she's not sure if that would be a good idea since she doesn't want to mess it up.

» Spending time on SNS, interacting with her fans.

» Music in general (which might've been just a biiiit obvious, haha)

» Fooling around in the kitchen and 'inventing' new things. This started off with a love for coffee but the good old cappuchino got quite boring after a while, so she started mixing new coffees as a way of keeping herself busy (and awake). After her first few successes she decided to take it to the next level and switched her possible-ingedient-list to everything she could find in a kitchen. Let's just say that some of her cakes have turned out better than others (but there have been a few good ones in there too!)

» Watching tv-series, movies or anime.

» Trying to fix broken stuff, like old phones, even though she hardly ever succeeds. (Okay, maybe 'fixing' isn't the right word. She just wants to take apart anything with a battery into the smallest possible pieces and put it back together again. For science.)

likes

» Spicy food. She can't even handle spiciness that well, but even with a layer of sweat on her forhead and tears in her eyes she'd happily ask to make her already spicy dish even spicier.

» BTS.  BTS has been her favourite idol group ever since they debuted and they have always inspired and motivated her to work even harder. They've been huge rolemodels for her for quite some part of her trainee period. She respects them a lot though and really loves their music (and pretty much everything about them but she's not supposed to fangirl abput a senior group oops) . She really admires the way they treat their fans and their attitude and hopes that she can learn from them. Seriously though, don't ask her about them, she'll just get stuck in between wanting to ramble about them and answering with a casual "Oh, BTS? I don't know, I hardly even know them, why would you ask?" even though pretty much everyone that has known her for longer than a day can see that this is obviously not true. The fact that she knows quite a few of their choreographys might give it away a bit. (No okay, she can actually act like a normal person when they're involved as long as she's not talking to friends she really trusts like the other members or her other friends. Everyone has a rolemodel right? Hers just happens to be BTS)

» Rain. Rain is one of the things that always manages to calm her down and she loves the feeling of the cold water witting her skin. She always gets the urge to go out when it's raining and there aren't a lot of things she'd rather do than dancing in the rain at night without wearing a jacket. She realises how incredibly hipster and movie-like this sounds but will just heartily laugh when people point this out. She doesn't really care.

» She's fine with skinship (she often shows her love towards her other members or friends, etc. by giving them a quick peck on the cheek, forehead or just any part of their body that's within her reach really.

» Frozen rasberries. Especially if she can eat them while taking a shower or a bath.

» Getting praised. Everyone probably likes being praised, but it's still something that makes her happy enough to be put on this list. She just really likes getting acknowledged by someone other than herself for a change. It's someone she had and has to work hard for, so it makes sense that she really treasures those moments.

» Mathmetics. Weird? Probably. Does she really care about this? Nahh. Not just your regular bit of algebra though. No, it needs to involve complex numers, matrices and other similair things for her to be interested. She doesn't know all that much about 'regular' maths and wasn't very good at it in high school either, but her teacher encouraged her to choose this other mathmatecs class next to the regular one and she loved it. She wasn't the greatest at this either, but she didn't really care about that. She just really enjoyed it. She once gave an hour long presentation on the Riemann hypothesis and it was by far the most fun presentation she had ever given. (Not sure if this is an actual subject in Korea, but we have it here in the Netherlands?)

» Space. She really likes the whole mysterious concept that is the universe and everything in it. She hopes to one day learn more about it so that she will understand everything better, but for now she'll have to do with her (not that, but still quite) above average knowledge of it for people of her age and background schoolwise. She does know quite a few interesting or weird facts though and she absolutely loves everything involving stars.

dislikes

» Fish. She likes fish as a food, but not as an animal. They always stare at you with their glazy eyes and she just doesn't like the way they swim in the water. Or the way they look. or the way it feels when you're swimming in a lake and they brush past your feet. But what she probably hates most of all about them is the way they smell.

» Chapped lips. This is why she always carry multiple lip scrubs and balms with her.

» Getting out of bed in the morning. She'll easily stay up until deep in the night to finish practice or something like that and she won't be tired for the entirety of the day, but getting out of bed is just the worst thing in the world.

» "Those slippery chinese mushrooms". None of her team mates have figured out which mushrooms she means yet. This was triggered when she nearly choked on one on her mom's best friend's fancy birthday party at an even fancier restaurant because and accidentally spit it out on the table for everyone to see. Slimy things are also very much not her thing in general.

» The colour yellow.

» People blindly assuming her entire personality is a lie made up for the camera's. She's actually happy and proud of who she is, thank you.

» People not taking their responsibilities as seious as they should.

» Song lyrics without any depth or meaning to them whatsoever. Even little word jokes would be enough, but at least try to make it seem like you're trying.

» People that are unable to bring up some respect for the things she loves.

trivia

» She makes playlists for every mood she's in, resulting in a lot of different playlists on her phone.

» She always uses sticky notes to quickly write something down (which she does a lot) and even though it looks like a mess, she always knows where to find which note. This results in mostly her phone case and the area next to her bed and working space to be fully covered in tons of multi-coloured sticky notes (no place is safe really)

» She sleeps starfish mode

» She gestures a lot while speaking

» Her favourite party trick involves moles (and she has quite a lot of those), for she has cluster of them on her arm that seem to be pretty much perfectly symmetrical. If she bends her right arm, the two pairs of moles on her inner arm/elbow match up perfectly and the others look like they would do the same if only she would be able to bend her elbow that far (but hey, bones and stuff). Hyejin thinks it's one of her coolest features.

» She can't really choose what her favourite animal is so when asked she always just says a snow leopard and the Orange Bell jellyfish (although the Black Sea Nettle jellyfish is pretty too!) (ironic, yes), as well as butterflies

who do you want your character to end up with? — (answer this please, or tell me to pick for you)

other — She wants to fully focus on her music career and doesn't want any possible distractions like a boyfriend. Since this might have a very negative effect on her career as well she just tries to stay away from relationships. This debut is something she has worked so hard for and she doesn't want to throw that all away with a possible dating schandal. She does crave the emotional and physical supprt and comfort a boyfriend could give her but she simply doesn't want to risk it. She hasn't been in a serious relationship up till now anyway, and she's still a (which she finds quite funny as she really likes the more y concepts).

If you could have someone crush on her that'd be cute though ^^

(Oh I wasn’t aware of how good looking Wonwoo is yet)

comments, questions, or concerns? : There are probably a loooot of typos in here, sorry! I'll read it through as soon as I have time~

I’m not super satisfied with the audition/training experience bit but I was a bit stuck... Sorry! Do tell me if I need to make it a bit more elaborate!

people your character might date : I'll answer this as people that I can see her getting a ttiny crush on if that's okay?

BTS Jimin, Got7 Jackson, VIXX N

scene requests :

-Bonding time with all the members? Maybe even just after their debut when they actaully get recognised for the first time, making the new part of MELODY realise that they actually debuted and that their lives are going to change so much from this point onwards (I can imagine lots of excited giggles haha), even though the members that udes to be in PHOENIX are already more used to this.

-Kinda similair to the previous one: the girls meeting some of their sunbaes for the first time making the new part of MELODY pretty starstruck and making them realise that this is actually happening (maybe one of them even complimenting them or smh?)

-Hyejin making new friends

-The group being on a variety show (or just Hyejin? Idk, that all up tp you~

-Maybe some fan interaction (after all this kinda is her forte? Kinda?)

-Meeting up with her friends that she hasn't seen in ages because of their debut preparations?

-Their first actual own concert (like, not a broadcast or fan meet but an actual concert) / first win? I know both of these would take quite a while since that would be too unrealistic to happen too soon after their debut (which is why I put them together), but maybe at some point?

-Undercover fangirl Hyejin casually spazzing about BTS?

-Hyejin getting hate and the members/fans/Hyejin herself defending her because no matter what people might say, she is an important part of the team.

other : Please let me know if there's anything you want me to change or if I made any mistakes~ Feel free to change anything in order to fit the story better!
