Hyejin was the second and last child. She has a pretty normal youth; she was really close with her brother and they always spend a lot of time together, despite the two year . They were always playing outside when they were younger, but as they ‘matured’ (that’s what they liked to call it. Their parents just laughed at their ‘mature’ 10 and 12 year old kids.) they spend more time at home; playing games, talking, crafting, or listening to music. Their house was always filled with their father’s music and even though they enjoyed the English indie songs, especially Hyejin was captivated by the magical world of K-pop. She was taking dance classes and she enjoyed trying out her new dancing skills on the dances all these pretty girls were doing. It’s safe to say that she wasn’t the best 10-year old dancer and that her ‘covers’ of girl group dances didn’t look all that good, but she loved doing it and didn’t see a reason to stop.

When she was 14 dancing was more than just a hobby. It was something she was incredibly passionate about and proud of. She was also in the middle of her anime phase. What started off as watching gory anime with her brother in his room in the middle of the night had developed into something she spend way too much time on. But she didn’t really mind. It wasn’t like her grades had been so great before she started spending less time on schoolwork and even though her parents kept telling her to get higher grades, she thought her B’s were just fine. Her grades took a dramatic turn for the worst when she found out about cosplay though. She had heard of it before, but she had never really thought about it until her brother dragged her off to an anime convention in the city. She knew one thing when she got home after a day of gorgeous dresses and huge, badass props: she wanted to do this too. So she did.

It wasn’t hard to get her brother enthousiastic for this new plan of hers and not even a month later they found themselves sitting in a sewing class together. Hyejin absolutely loved it. She was a fast learner and dedicated a lot of time to practicing her newly learned skills. Kyungjae wasn’t necessarily bad at sewing, he was just more fascinated by the bigger armour costumes, and dropped the sewing classes after about six months. Turned out he was good with a heat gun and some thermoplastic.

Hyejin’s parents were quite wealthy and easily covered the expenses of her first costume since she didn’t have a job yet, whereas Kyungjae had been saving up money earned with part-time jobs for a while now and didn’t need the financial support. About five months into their new hobby, they decided that they were going to do a bigger project together as soon as they were confident enough with their skills. Hyejin wanted to be able to pay for this herself too and went job hunting for the first time in her life. Three month later, after Hyejin had already finished another costume and Kyungjae had been practicing on loose props and other random things to get more familiar with the material, they started working on Lux and Garen from League of Legends, a game they both loved. The fact that the two characters were siblings too was just too perfect. Kyungjae took the lead when it came to armour wherereas Hyejin lead them through the fabric work. They worked their asses off and in march ... they debuted the costumes at a local con.

             

This con was pretty much the start of their cosplay careers. They had both started cosplay pages on facebook and a few other forms of SNS where they updated their small audiences on the progress of their costumes earlier on, and their follower count got a lot larger after their impressive appearance. Even though they were still far, far away from any of the even slightly well known local cosplayers, they were proud of their follower counts that were both somewhere in the hundreds.

But the actual change was the faithful meeting of Hyejin and Eunbyul. Eunbyul asked the siblings for a photo and somehow the two girls hit it off within the few seconds that the photo was supposed to take. They walked around together for the rest of the day. From that day onwards hardly a day went by that Hyejin and Eunbyul didn’t talk to each other and not much later they would start calling each other their best friend.

Eunbyul is also the one who introduced Hyejin to idol anime. Eunbyul still isn’t sure whether this had been  the best or worst thing she had ever done in her life, since Hyejin harldy wanted to cosplay anything other than idol anime after she had had her first taste. You can’t really blame her though, since it was a way for her to combine her love for cosplay and dance, the two things she loved doing most in the whole world.

              

Hyejin’s grades were dropping as she dedicated most of her time to dance classes, sewing classes and cosplay in general and her job as a waitress. The amount of group cosplays she did with her brother, her best friend, a combination of the two, on her own or even a bigger group of people grew though, as did her fanbase. One of her favourite cosplays she had ever done was their Code Geass group, which she did with Kyungjae, Eunbyul and Hansol, a friend of the whole group but mainly her brother’s. Even though it felt a bit weird taking pretty couply pictures with her brother, they had a lot of fun doing it, and the surprised but enthusiastic reactions they got were definately worth it. (Hyejin: Euphelia (top, white dress), Kyungjae: Suzaku (top, white suit), Hansol: Lelouch (bottom, black and red suit), Eunbyul: C.C. Just before she turned seventeen she started uploading dance covers and joined multiple competitions with mostly her idol costumes and as the way she danced her heart out on those stages attracted quite a lot of people, especially after she won a relatively big competition with her Honoka cosplay (once again from Love Live!). It was after this win that she was first invited as a guest to a pretty big convention in Seoul.

As her 18th birthday was nearing, she decided that she wanted to do a special project. Up to that point she has never posed for any photos and it was something she was quite excited to try. Her 18th birthday would be quite a perfect oppertunity since it would actually be acceptable then. If she was going to do this with anyone (no , or any of that stuff, just showing a bit more skin and acting a bit more suggestive, maybe just a light kiss, nothing serious and all merely for the sake of art), there wasn’t anyone she trusted more than Moonbyul. They had done a bigger Pirate!Free cosplay group before and Eunbyul actually crossplayed on a pretty frequent basis so she was completely comfortable with crossplaying as her partner.

Hyejin opened a small competition on her cosplay page so that her followers could choose the couple they would cosplay and in the end Kurosuji’s Sebastian and Beast won. They were both a bit in shock seeing these results since that would mean they were going to go all out, but they were super excited to give it a shot and immediately got to work. And so it happened that at Hyejin’s 18th birthday, she publised the pictures of her and Eunbyul in ther Kurosuji cosplays. (Hyejin: Beast (left), Eunbyul: Sebastian (right))

On november 29th Hyejin was filming a new dance cover in the centre of Seoul. Christmas was coming up and she had already finished her Kotori christmas outfit and learned the dance, so by filming it now she’d have more than enough time to edit it. What she had not expected was to be approached by people who claimed to be from Cube Entertainment, and offered her an invitation for a trial period as a trainee at their company (I have no clue how scouting works when there aren’t any auditions so feel free to correct this n stuff). Hyejin accepted the card and told them that she’d get back to them as soon as possible but that she needed to think it over properly first.

                                             

She had never even thought about being an idol. Sure, she loved dancing and music in general, and she loved doing idol cosplays, but the simply hadn’t thought of it before. Since she had no chances of getting into a good college, and she didn’t want to either, she had always expected herself to go into the fashion or costuming industry since that would be where her biggest chances would lie. The thought of training under an entertainment company and working up to a possible debut excited her, but it would mean having to give up cosplay.

In the end she decided to accept the offer. If things didn’t work out she could always quit and continue to pursue a career as costume designer or anything of the sort. And this is how she ended up at the trainee dorms on the 23rd of december, confused and nervous but incredibly excited for the road that lay ahead of her.

✕ She won’t back down for anything and once she sets herself a goal, how big or small this might be, she will fully focus on achieving it. She’s determined to see things through until the end. She also loves challenges. Things aren’t fun if they’re too easy. She knows that if she chooses the easiest way to do something, she won’t learn from it so she won’t improve either.

✕​ She can be too idealistic though, even if it get’s really unrealistic. She just sometimes forgets that the world doesn't have to be as beautiful as she makes it seem in her head and that people won't always be as nice as she had imagined them to be (whenever she remembers this she get's more heistant about meeting her sunbaes BTS, since she doesn't want to be let down after they have been such an inspiration to her all this time). She can't always do what she wants to do and she can't always be as perfect as she wants to be, nor can others.

✕​ She's not the brightest either. There are a few things that she knows a lot about, but those are mainly the things that really interest her, like cosplay or music related stuff. She never got high grades in school though. She can be really clumpsy too, especially when she isn’t fully paying attention to what she’s doing (although this doens't tend to happen when dancing is involved. She's not sure why, but she's definately grateful for this.)

✕​ Even though she knows it's wrong and that it goes against pretty much everything she stands for, she really can't stop herself from being nosey. She's very curious and wants to know what's going on around her. She tends to involve herself in things that might not be any of her business (preferably without any of the other parties involved noticing) and once she hears people talking about something that could possibly be of her interest (whether it be positive or not) she can't stop herself from eavesdropping. It's a trait that she's very ashamed of but even though she would like to be able to deny this, it does give her a little kick as well. Having information that she shouldn’t have makes her feel strangely powerfull and the possibility of messing up really get’s that adrenaline going. She usually doesn’t search for oppertunities like these though, and she doesn’t hide full-stalker-mode somewhere just because she knows that there will be an interesting conversation taking place there later, or anything of the sort.

✕​ She loves making friends and just people in general really. They simply fascinate her. Everyone is so different but unique in their own way, and she believes that everyone can be interesting, as long as you get them to talk in the right way. She loves talking to others, getting to know them better and learning more about them and their interests. She loves listening to others’ stories and telling her own in return. She loves making friends and being around people she cares about. She wants the people around her to be happy and she likes making others smile. This isn’t necessarily combined with an endless amount of energy, not at all. She needs quite a lot of social interaction and is very extroverted. Being around others just makes her feel a lot happier

✕​ She will never stop fighting for her members, and her members know that she will always have their backs, no matter what happens. Once she’s grown attached to you she will get really trustworthy and loyal, which is why she’s often the person her close friends go to when they’re in trouble, need advise or just someone to talk to. She realises that it might not be what the company wants her to do, but she often covers for her members when she needs it. After all, she finds that their lives are hard enough as they are so if there’s anything that one of her members really needs to do, she might just help her do so even though the company has forbidden it. From sneaking them extra food despite their diets to calling them in sick when they really weren’t up for training, helping them sneak out or even doing whatever she can to fix scandals that might occur. She only allows these kind of things when she doesn’t have a single doubt that it’s safe though. So far the company has never found out yet.

✕​ Because she loves people so much, she’s gotten really good at reading people. This skill in combination with her talkativeness and good way with words can make her a bit manipulative. She usually doesn’t use this for anything too serious, but she knows she could if she’d want to. She usually just gets what she wants or gets people to allow her to do something or do something for her, but only for smaller, less important stuff.

✕​ She’s confident and comfortable in her own body. She likes the way she looks and isn’t that insecure about anything really. Of course, she realises that she’s not perfect, but that’s not what she’s aiming for.

✕​ She’s really dirty minded. She can make an innuendo out of literally anything. Any. Thing. Anythiiiiiing. Her sense of humour can be a bit blunt, but it’s never actually offensive (unless she knows the other person well enough to know that they can handle it, and those jokes would most of the time actually be pretty funny, so the other person won’t actually feel that hurt.)

✕​ She’s usually more ‘professional’ on stage, but when she hangs out with someone that’s really energetic, she will start cracking jokes non-stop, laughs a lot and will want to go on ‘adventures’, as she likes to call them. This is usually not more than sneeking out to buy food or go to an internet cafe though. She really likes the feeling of adrenaline rushes, which she gets from for example doing things she’s not supposed to, feeling y and perfoming in front of an audience.

✕​ She was born for the stage: she absolutely loves her fans and every bit of interaction she get’s to have with them, she loves the attention, feels really comfortable being on stage or in front of cameras and she loves getting cheered on and supported more than almost anything. The support of her fans is what motivates her most to keep going.

✕​ She wants to express her love for her fans as much as she possibly can. If she could, she'd probably spend every single second in her spare time interacting with fans, but she's afraid it might come over as pushy or unreal (it's also simply not possible to do. Then again, she'd make it possible if she'd have to). Having actual fans is the thing she looked forward to most and has been motivating her ever since she joined the company. They inspire her and she wants to find a way to return all the love that they're giving her group, no matter how small their fanbase migth be. If she's not posting anything herself, she's probably reading messages others left them on SNS or just searching through their tags. She's really curious as to what people are saying about them despite knowing that everytime she browses through their tags there will be hate in there too.

✕​ As the leader she sees it as her job to be the pillar for the rest to lean on, meaning that she shouldn’t show any weaknesses in her leadership abilities. Especially when it comes to hate: something that everyone will get as soon as people get to know about them. Hate gets to her more than she shows though. She thought that she’d be more used to it by now, she experienced hate messages when she was a cosplayer after all, and it’s not like she has many things that she’s that insecure about. The hate messages don’t make her insecure though, just sad. She feels really hurt when people criticise something that she has been working on for so long.

✕ She believes in teamwork above anything, which is also the reason that she wouldn’t want to have a solo debut. As she sees it, they’re in this together and they work best as a team. It doesn’t feel right to stand on a stage and promote a song without her members next to her, and she couldn’t even inagine how hard training for a solo song or album must be if her members weren’t there to help her through it.  “Teamwork makes the dream work"

✕ She has been wearing a lot of skirts lately. She loves skater skirts, and she has this leather one that she really likes. ( 1 2 3 4 5 6 ) What kind of top she wears depends on the style she's going for that day. When wanting to dress classy she could go for a blouse or just a really nice skirt. If she's going for something that looks a bit more to the cute side she might wear a lace top or a pullover in softer colours and thigh high socks. She does like still keeping a bit of a y element in there so she might opt for a shorter skirt to compensate. For a more y or badass look she'd pick darker colours for for example lace turtleneck croptops, bustiers or leather jackets

RELATIONSHIP

✕ They’re texting quite a lot but they haven’t seen each other since the party. Both Hyejin and Jimin are in denial of the teeny tiny crush that they might be starting to develop on the other, but they’re both interacting with the other as nothing more than a potential close friend (Hyejin likes to think they’re friends but then again, she calls people her friend quite soon after having met them for the first time and this is Park freaking Jimin we’re talking about here so she’s going for potential friend until they’ve known each other for a bit longer, just in case). Their texting is completely flirtless but Hyejin is and will always be Hyejin and innuendos are part of that deal. Jimin was pretty shocked when Hyejin’s dirty mindedness turned out to be a regular thing instead of just something that came up when the girl was drunk, but he surprised her probably even more by making an even dirtier comeback.

HISTORY

✕ Her celebrity crush on BTS’ Jimin wasn’t exactly unknown to the other members, since her soft spot for the cute dancer was obvious despite her general love for the group. It’s not like she wanted to hide it anyway. He was cute, had an incredibly y stage persona and seemed really nice in general, nothing to be ashamed of liking. And it wasn’t more than a celebrity crush anyway, or so she thought.

✕ The first time she saw BTS in person was at their debut stage. They were promoting around the same time but since it was Mercy’s debut stage Hyejin didn’t exactly have the mind space to even realise she was sharing the stage with the guys that got her trough her trainee period. The second time she saw them was at the next music show where they passed each other. Once again, she was too nervous about the upcoming stage and too ecstetic afterwards to even think about approaching them. BTS’ promotions had ended before she had had the chance to even greet them but she didn’t care that much about it.

✕ The third time she did get to talk to them though. It was, unfortunately, slightly awkwardly timed. She was at a music festival (depends on debut date and stuff which one this would be, so I'm leaving it up to you~) and when she excited the girl’s bathroom no one other than Park Jimin was about to walk into the men’s room and nearly bumped into her. Hyejin had already started apologising before she had even registered who it was. When she looked up only to stand face to face with Jimin she was quite surprised.

✕ When she entered Mercy’s dressing room not long afterwards she immediately threw herself face forward into one of the couches. When the other members worriedly asked her what was going on she could only let out a whine, saying “Park Jimin is a literal angel and it’s ing unfair”.  She didn’t explain what she meant by this until they got back to the dorms.

✕ She had started a conversation with Park Jimin with the sole intent of a possible friendship and with nothing other than feelings of respect for the sunbae. She had, in fact, not expected him to recognise her and greet her with his cute eye smile as if they’d been friends for years. She had not expected him to shower her in compliments on Mercy’s debut and her appearance in the survival show that lead to the group’s final line-up (appearently he had watched the program. She wasn’t sure how to feel about that.). She had not expected him to be this nice and easy to talk to, nor this incredibly handsome in person. But more than anything she had not expected to get a bit nervous just through talking to this guy. She was Ryu Hyejin for god’s sake, she didn’t get nervous because of social interaction. She just didn’t.

✕ They had parted ways after a five minute conversation (after all, he still had to go to the toilet and she really had to get back to her group members and staff, for they probably didn’t know where she was).

✕ She denied that she was maybe just a tiny little bit ed and “got her together”, as she kept telling herself. Months passed and Jimin disappeared from her thoughts after the first few weeks. After all, they had just debuted and she had a group to lead.  She didn’t meet him again until .... a few months later. She was a bit surprised when he acted as if they were good friends when she approached him with her group to greet the sunbaes (both the members from her group and the rest of BTS quickly diappeared after the initial greating) but it was nice and the conversation they had was fun and comfortable, although not much longer than 5 to 10 minutes (they were busy people after all). 100% friendly.

✕ She saw quite a few familiar faces at the party. She chatted a bit with friends, started conversations with some strangers. Small talk was made, numbers were exchanged and the whole party just had a very nice athmosphere. She was starting to feel a nice buzz from the drink in her hand but wanted to go slow on the drinking, or at least for now. She was quite the party animal but she was surrounded by sunbaes and she didn’t want to make a bad impression just yet. Drinking games were nicer later in the evening anyway, if she were to join any. This was when she bumped into Kim Namjoon. They made some small talk, laughed a bit and easily got rid of any tension there was between the two of them since they had never talked before. Out of nowhere Park Jimin showed up with two drinks in his hand and he looked pleasantly surprised to see Hyejin talking with his leader. Handing Namjoon the drink he brought him he casually joined their conversation and it was pretty nice. Somewhere in the next half an hour Namjoon left to talk to someone else leaving Jimin and Hyejin on their own. At some point Jimin asked for her phone number so that they could stay in touch and she happily gave it to him.

✕ They were both only a bit tipsy when Jimin dared her that she couldn’t hold her alcohol. Which resulted in them doing shots. Which resulted in them getting pretty ing drunk. They started fooling around and started teasing and messing with some of their mutual friends. They ended up parting ways deep into the night and when Hyejin flopped down onto her bed that night, she felt happy and giddy which wasn’t caused by just the alcohol, even though that was what she told herself the next morning. The same way she told herselt that meeting Min Yoongi properly for the first time while being drunk off her wasn’t as embarrasing as it sounded the next morning. Which it definately was.

CONCLUSION ✕ Even though theiy never confessed their feelings for each other, that they had certainly developed by now, Their interactions started getting a bit more flirty and suggestive. Before they even properly realised what they were doing, they ended up kissing. Knowing that the other returned the feelings that they felt for each other made it a very hard decision to make, but they came to the conclusion that they couldn’t date and that this had been a mistake. Hyejin was still a rookie, under a no-dating contract and she treasured her career too much to risk the scandal a relationship could create. Even though she liked Jimin a lot, it would be irresponsible and unfair to her other members. She had worked hard to get where she was today and dating Jimin could ruin that.
