I'm upset

I'm very disappointed after I read this article in Allkpop.

I learn that discrimation has decreased nowadays than in the past. But, this page upsets me very much. Based on this article, it was said that a Christian Korean university wouldn't accept homoual applicants. It's still understandable because in religious views, homouality is strongly prohobited. The problem is that this university needs a English teacher, but they refused two applicants. One of them was Irish and the other one was African. The reason for rejection? First, because of alcoholic nature of Irish and second, the skin tone of Black people.

Let's get thing straight. First off, I hope you consider that every country has drinking habits. For instance, Russian likes to drink Vodka, Japanese likes to drink Sake, Germany likes to drink beer and even Korean likes to drink Soju. But, not every Irish people have heavy alcoholic behaviour. This is what is called 'steriotyping'.

It's saddening that this Black applicants, Mr. Jones got rejected because he is Black, not White people. Meanwhile, the university only wants White people to teach. I basically agree with Mr. Jones. Black people are also part of Western Culture! It's not limited for any kind of race!

This university wanted to hire an English teacher. What is needed to be an English teacher is finest experience, sertificates, references, and ability to communicate with the student. Skin tone or nature of a race aren't part of it! How could the university hire an English teacher then?

I found somebody commented on the site something like: "Well, every country has racism in it.". I have to admit, it's true. Racism and steriotypes aren't something that could be viewed easily. They are offensive. And, think. How many victims died for indenpendence and equality in the past like Civil Wars? How many people had to lose their beloved ones?

To everyone on Earth, no matter you are black or white, straight or gay, male or female, humans were born equal. There's no differences between one to another.

You could disagree with me, but I only want to express my opinion. That's all.

Thank you.

Yikes O_O That's not good at all on the university's end. As someone who has some Irish blood in me, I personally find it annoying when every Irish out there is grouped like that. And the skin color...why should it matter to them? If they need someone who knows English well enough and can interact well with their students that should be their only concern. If you live in America then no matter what you're skin color, race etc is you are part of the Western community.

It's kind of mind boggling that there are some people who still believe those old stereotypes.
