OF COURSE I AM, WHO AM I KIDDING." ⇒ haru in a nutshell is basically short flailing limbs and a lot of noise. although ironically she doesn't talk much, her whole being is literally a new language itself. not only does she trip, slip and fall down at least 434897 times a day, she also is really bad at hiding what is on her mind, what with that open book of a face. haru is not a very bad liar—she is really good at speaking whenever she concentrates on putting her all to a speech—except more often than not, she in keeping her focus at bay and gets distracted with the littlest things. like "oh my god, how did that butterfly get into my office. did it go through the pipe or the toilet or the—" or "do you have a stopwatch? i need to count how fast i type in a minute,". most people thinks she is endearingly weird, but she likes to think that she is more of peculiar than the offending adjective. she also likes to think that she has to go to the church and thank heavens for giving her a good brain because otherwise she would have been kicked out of the company.
"YOU'RE WAY TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT." ⇒ the girl is reserved in a way that she acts more comfortably around the people that she is closer to. she likes skinship more than anything in the world and attempts that to every single living thing that she knows well enough. with strangers and mere acquaintances though, she pinks a lot and stutters more often than not. she gets totally nervous around new people and always ends up thinking that she is wetting her skirt when she is not. it is not so difficult to get past this stage though, because haru is one of the more easygoing people who tends to open up very easily. first impression matters a lot to this girl, so if you wear a tattered clothing and smell bad (and facial hairs, ugh she hates facial hairs), expect to be put under her temporary mental blacklist until you get all clean. to get haru to trust someone is perhaps one of the easiest thing to do in the whole wide world, although breaking the trust is much, much easier. she is naïve, but that doesn't mean that she hands out forgiveness for free, so make sure to keep her at your good side because otherwise it gets frustrating.
"OOPSY-DAISY." ⇒ not only is haru very determined, she is also quite stubborn in her own way. haru works hard to get where she is right now, those late-night studying sessions and the bitter memory of cramming equations to equations to her brain proving to be a success when she manages to land herself in one of the biggest corporations in south korea. when she is set to something, she is set and nothing really can stop her afterwards. although haru doesn't voice her opinions very freely, because she doesn't particularly like the aftermath—wondering if what she said was offending or not, good enough or not, because she is insecure just like that—she stands on her point. she doesn't speak against people often, but she believes that what she thinks is true, and that pushes her through because "excuse me, who are you to say that i'm wrong.". haru likes to think that she has a good sense of humor (particularly at being sarcastic), but just like every other things she has to but failed to say, they are buried deep in her mind and left to rot. overall, ryu haru is adorable to most people (because who still stutters, avoids eye contact and blushes at twenty-three?) although really, she is just a ball of awkward unvoiced opinions and hushed dry humors.

I FORGOT MY NAME BUT I'M HARU'S MOM TOO SO HI." ⇒ haru likes to think that she is pampered as a child, showered with motherly love although there is still that gaping hole her father left along with some divorce papers. she grew up in a family of four: her, her sister and her parents. it had always been that way until her mother came to her one day telling her they were moving away from her father. it was not until she was twelve that she finally understood they were not just moving away from her father, but also his life. the divorce was peaceful and from time to time, her father would send some money home, and although haru thought it was a pity, she liked to think that she was pretty much content with her life (she still doesn't know the reason for the divorce up until now, but she doesn't care).
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT; WE ARE STILL A FAMILY OF FOUR: ME, HARU AKA MY FAB SISTER, MY MOTHER, AND OUR DOG, YOU." ⇒ haru grew up not being able to form coherent speech until she was six. maybe that was how hana turned out to be the stronger and feistier out of the two. it was not until last year that her mother had to go back to her hometown to take care of their grandmother, whose health is deteriorating. her sister, who got married two years ago, took over their house and convenience store with her charming husband and a son so adorable haru died a thousand times looking at him. which was one of the supporting reasons as to why she moved out (the main reason being she couldn't stand the excessive pda the couple was displaying). (by the way, their dog's name is actually 'you'.).

"OH MY FREAK HELP ME GOD." ⇒ "job is anything but fun and relaxing," haru soon realized. "being an intern is at least twice harder than being a regular worker," haru soon realized. "school is much better than working," haru soon realized. work is a day of fumbling with too much papers, loads of caffeine and a pounding headache (followed by the thoughts of gratitude for whoever invented elevators because otherwise her days will also be filled with kneescraps and broken bones). as she is promoted as the ceo's new assistant, she has a lot to adjust to, from the smallest things like how does he prefer his coffee (he is apparently a man of tea and hates coffee with passion), to the bigger ones like how does his schedule for the following month precede. she is coping up well, although not perfectly because it is very distracting to be in a room with those eyes, those lips, those— okay, let's not go there.
"WHAT DID HE DO TO YOU TODAY." ⇒ haru spends so much brain juices at work she is pretty much reduced to a scatterbrain after. if not for 'the physical therapist' sparing some time to actually fetch her after her duties, she would have been in the front page of a newspaper for sleeping shamelessly down the rich gangnam street. when at home, haru talks a lot. the topic used to be diverse but then came kyungsoo and all she talks about is him (like how he is so annoying because how did he look cool just sitting there?). badmouthing him appears to be one of her newer fortes, and she wishes that she can get along better with her new colleagues at work so that she can badmouth him there too (it feels nice, strangely). haru is definitely not the youngest among the girls, but she likes to act like one just because. it is a routine for her to at least see each and every girl once at the start of the day and once at the end of it; she likes to keep her relationships with them close-knitted. it proves to be hard, however, since she is one of the earliest to get out of home, and is the latest at coming back to it (which literally translates to her waking people up). no one can hate her though, because "who are you kidding. hating haru is like hating a kicked puppy,".

— haru was introduced to the girls by hana (how hana knows them remains a mystery, but then again, hana knows everyone) during her highschool days. haru had little to no friends because she was so absentminded and busy with school every time and she ended up stumbling upon these girls—literally because hana pushed her to them—and feeling glad that she was clumsy because she successfully attracted 'the physical therapist's' attention by falling and rolling on the ground.

— haru is close with literally everyone, even those who are quiet because she makes sure that she goes out of her way to pester them, but admittedly she is closest to 'the physical therapist' because that motherhen has taken it upon herself to be haru's personal babysitter after learning that haru is clumsier than patrick star. also because she is the only one who is willing enough to fetch haru from work in such ungodly hours and still allows haru to sprawl all over her when sleeping.

— no one really, but maybe 'the actress' because she has been glaring non-stop at haru these few days eversince that one morning when it is so hard to wake 'the actress' up and haru ends up dumping water on her face just so that she can greet her good morning before fleeing to work (where an equally grumpy boss resides).

— "it's really really nice, you know, you should try living with your friends too! there is very minimal pda here and definitely no strange noises in the mornings because yay for no couples! i think it's not that hard to get along with them, our very different personalities aside because hey, we've been bestfriends since what, ten years ago? anyways, i love it here. wait, wait, do i know you. why am i talking to y—"

— "they say that i at cleaning because i slip even in dry floors, aren't they mean. but since i'm not a good chef either i end up offering to cover more for the overall bills, but that doesn't work too because they complain so much about fairness, yada, yada. anyways, now i end up doing whatever they ask me to do. it feels a lot like being jobless."

"GET BACK TO WORK." ⇒ kyungsoo, to haru, is like all those two-faced, rich people in the novels. sweet talks and mindless compliments outside, but really, just a bitter, tired man inside. he is so reserved that around 80% of those who works for him only knows about his name and nothing more despite them being under a roof. kyungsoo has been uptight for as long as he remember—being the son of one of the most successful businessman alive is pressurizing and when he looks back to his childhood, all he remembers is the amount of tuitions he has to go to, the shrill voice of his mother and the one and only time he failed a test. kyungsoo has always been pushed to be the best eversince his adolescent days, and that builds him to the strong man he is now. he hates disappointing people, because he knows from experience that disappointing people disappoints himself more. he strives hard to be the best, and although there is that saying that goes against his principle, he doesn't care because he will be the best one day.
"OUT OF MY OFFICE." ⇒ to say that kyungsoo doesn't care about anyone around him is mostly false. in fact, he cares a bit too much at times—whether he is competent enough despite his young age to be a ceo, whether he is a good boss, how well did he do. as kyungsoo's interactions with his workers are kept to minimum, not much knows about his real self, but suave walk and great-way-with-words aside, kyungsoo has little control to his temper (and it is expected that everything will be vent out to his new assistant). kyungsoo keeps to himself a lot; his secrets, his frustrations, what makes him happy. he thinks that letting people know his inner tremors will render him vulnerable to attacks, and he definitely doesn't want that. it is also hard for him to trust people easily, because "hey, this is business. it is a dog-eat-dog world and everyone is your enemy," so when a new assistant that is not his long-time best friend and now ex-assistant walks into the small frame that is his interactions with people, kyungsoo is not the littlest bit happy.

"I DON'T WANT TO SEE BEARDS." ⇒ instead of beaming, haru's expression when she was told to go up and clear her desk because "congrats! you're promoted buddy." was that of a deer caught in the headlights. the first thing to enter her mind was whether she should interact with strangers as a personal assistant, the second thing was whether the ceo had facial hairs. when she was half-dragged, half-carried unwillingly to the elevator and bid goodbye by the deskmate she had no chance to get closer with, she almost sobbed. that feeling quickly went away when she was brought from the second floor to the twelfth because she was too busy 'ooh' and 'aah'-ing as the cars and other buldings slowly got smaller and smaller from the see-through elevator. the elated feeling, once again, quickly disappeared when the lift ding-ed open and she was met instantly with an expression she couldn't decipher. sadly, the first thing she accidentally mumbled to herself was: "oh, you don't have a moustache.". even sadder, although it usually went by unheard, the twelfth floor was exclusively for the ceo, and no one else was there, and the ceo heard her, and she was damned.
"I DON'T WANT TO SEE PEOPLE." ⇒ when his assistant fired himself with a cheeky grin and a casual salute, kyungsoo was gaping. he didn't think that idiot was serious when they brought the topic up a few weeks prior, and he didn't expect it to be during the busiest month of the year. before he could rage away, his assistant held up a hand and said that he had everything under control and that kyungsoo should "cool your off."—obviously, that didn't say much. by the time kyungsoo had figured out that his ex-assistant's idea would most likely be a new assistant—because who was he kidding, his assistant wouldn't go too far to make a meek ceo like him comfortable—the elevator on his floor ding-ed, and he was met with a short girl that barely reached up to his nose even on heels. the thing was that, before he could ask the girl to get out of his office because he didn't need anyone, she was mumbling something that strangely sounded like: "oh, you don't have a moustache.". and for the first time in months (maybe years?), someone aside from his ex-assistant had amused him greatly, and he decided to keep her, and he was damned.

"HARU, GET ME COFFEE." ⇒ it was a slow process, them falling in love with each other. the prospect almost seemed impossible, especially when kyungsoo was a prick who ordered her around with commands that went along this format: "haru, (insert command here).". while at first haru was stricken by his good looks (and the fact that he had no facial hairs), she was growing increasingly annoyed at being treated like a dog when playing fetch. her frustrations didn't go unnoticed by kyungsoo, who by then had taken amusement in reeling her up because haru couldn't see herself in the mirror 24/7, but when she was annoyed, or mad, or frustrated, or feeling ty overall, her cheeks would go red, and kyungsoo liked to think that it was cute. the first few weeks was mostly shaped up to kyungsoo's amusement and haru's chagrin, but although haru didn't like kyungsoo, it was not that she was unaffected by his presence a few feet from her desk (because the twelfth floor had no doors save for the emergency staircase and the bathroom). to say the least, haru spent the month moping about how the world was unfair because all the handsome guys were either taken (yongguk, minhyuk) or a big jerkass (kyungsoo). her friends and minhyuk both didn't like kyungsoo's effect on haru.
"WELL I'M SORRY FOR BEING NOT SORRY." ⇒ a month later haru was still intimidated by kyungsoo because she couldn't go around slacking off when she was in a room with the ceo who had all the rights to fire her. her comments were mostly kept to herself, but kyungsoo always heard it because his ears were perfect just like that. while most of the time he let them pass, sometimes he liked to respond just to see her all flustered and embarrassed. it was this one night when she had to work overtime when she saw kyungsoo stripped off his uptight aura, sleeping on his desk. at first, she approached his desk only to place the paperworks she had worked her for where it was extremely noticeable because she didn't want it to go to waste even for a second. but she caught sight of kyungsoo's lips and everything else was history. she had taken it upon herself to bend down and inspect the perfect face literally carved by the gods of good looks, maybe, and found the slight imperfections usually not visible to her eyes endearing. before she could his fluffy-looking hair and go home without much complications, kyungsoo opened his eyes and haru was so taken aback she ended up running to the elevator while screaming "what the freaaaaaaaaak," all the way. haru amused kyungsoo once again. the day after was awkward at its best.
"STOP HURTING YOURSELF, STUPID." ⇒ it took another three months and a half for them to actually realize the developing feelings they had for each other. at first it was subtle, like how haru started bringing over the citron tea kyungsoo liked every other day, or how kyungsoo purposefully went out of his way to buy a first-aid kit and put it beside the vase on the middle of the room because haru never went past a day without at least a scratch. haru kept watch of the signal just in case kyungsoo felt something for her, but as she as dense, she was obviously left very disappointed. she was planning to confess, but chickened out every single time kyungsoo's gaze catched hers. kyungsoo was half-sure that she liked him back, so he wore the thinking cap and started his meditation. it took a month of reflecting on how this wasn't appropriate, wasn't professional and wasn't him at all, and it took another for him to proclaim that he didn't care. he liked her, and that was that—he was going to get her.

— kyungsoo's father is a-okay, but his mother is so strict and uptight and he is actually scared of her. he inherits the company when his father falls sick because his father has specifically told him to not let his mother get her way with the company because he chuckles, "she is not very good at keeping things at bay."
— haru has always referred him as 'dodo the bird' whenever she was badmouthing talking about him with her friends, but she would never risk her life by telling him that. except one day he was browsing through her phone and she freaked out when he started laughing because that was his id on her contact list. she ended up changing it to 'kyungffeine' under his approving gaze. (when she arrived home she decided to leave it be, but the first thing she did was change the company's id from 'do corp' to 'dodo bird's nest' but kyungsoo didn't have to know that).
— kyungsoo's favorite drink is citron tea, while haru's is hazelnut coffee. haru is a loyal customer on the coffee shop minhyuk is working at because of this since she orders at least two citrons and six hazelnuts everyday. (minhyuk starts to get worried of her health).
— kyungsoo's confession to her didn't go as planned because instead of the romantic dinner date he was thinking of, he ended up just blurting it to her on another overtime working while she was high on caffeine and he was half-asleep. it was awkward the next day because she thought she was dreaming while kyungsoo thought she didn't hear him, but after all that they were good.
— a month after dating, kyungsoo started telling her to bring comfortable clothes to the office. from that they on haru would go to work with the usual pencil skirt and blouse, changed into some hoodies and skinny jeans a minute after settling her things on the twelfth floor, and just; she was very comfortable.
— one of kyungsoo's favorite past time is looking at haru while she is working. eversince she started wearing casual clothes, it took only a week for her to let the tight bun go and go around with her hair down. he likes seeing her tuck a piece of hair behind her ears, and for once he is thankful that the twelfth floor is all transparent walls, because she looks like an angel with all those sunlights.
— kyungsoo is proud of the fact that haru blushes whenever he uses that tone on her because according to her, his voice is heavenly enough as is and having it a few keys lower is not what she wants. she didn't have to know that he took vocal lessons as a kid.
— ten months after their first meeting, five months after realizing that they're attracted to each other and three months after dating, haru feels comfortable enough to distract kyungsoo by sitting on his lap and being adorable effortlessly.

+ others — i cry bc i'm presenting you guys with an ugly monstrosity of too many words. i babble a lot so i have to apologize omg i'm really sorry otl i did this whole thing for like 5 hours in one sitting and i'm braindead right now but YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME OK. — kyungsoo meeting haru's mother and feeling very warm because his mother has never even cooked a meal for him.
— kyungsoo asking haru to sleep over at his apartment and her forcing him to watch disney because "what? oh my god this cannot be. no one should go past childhood without watching disney. you're back into your childhood now, kyungsoo. sit down and watch because this is perfection at its finest."
— haru asking kyungsoo to loosen up when he is so tense at work. it takes only a few minutes after her patting his head for her to end up perched at kyungsoo's lap and have kyungsoo sleeping with his head to her neck. kyungsoo apparently likes having her weight on his lap.
— haru meeting kyungsoo's mother and feeling very intimidated and inadequate when she gives her the stinkeye for 'distracting kyungsoo'. the day once again ends with her on kyungsoo's lap.
