Sehun and I were watching a re-run of Pokemon that Thursday night. It was our favorite cartoon back then and I remembered how Sehun always rushed to my house every Thursday and Friday with a pack of chips and two cartons of milk. We used to play our PlayStation, too, and we couldn’t choose another game but Pokemon. And when we weren’t training our Pokemon, we would went outside and just walking around.

I didn’t realize we’d spent a long time growing up together and going through countless nostalgic moments until today we were doing what we hadn’t been doing for years.

Sehun, who had been laying his head on my lap and watching the TV suddenly voiced out his mind. “You know, a girl gave me a confession letter today.”

I glanced at Sehun before fixing my eyes on TV again. “Well, it’s not a new thing, right?”

Ten years growing up together, I’d counted Sehun had received more than fifty pinky-heart-shaped letter since middle school. His popularity was no joke. He didn’t turn them all down because I remembered he’d said some of them were his type. But in the end, he wouldn’t date a girl more than two weeks. I didn’t know the reason because he wouldn’t tell me, but I was sure Sehun wasn’t a player.

“Yeah. And she’s cute.”

“You should date her.”

Silence fell between us despite the closing soundtrack of our cartoon played in the background. I kept looking at TV while Sehun shifted his body and looking at the ceiling, not TV anymore. He crossed his arm in front of his chest. When I stole a glance at him, I spotted he furrowed his eyebrows before looking at me.

“Do you think so? But we couldn’t…” Sehun stopped his words as if he was almost spilling a secret.

“What?”

“We might not have time together anymore.”

“Well, one day you’ll marry someone and I’ll marry someone, too.” As soon as I said it, I realized there would be a time Sehun and I stop hanging out together, and we would walk on a separate way. Somehow, the thought made me feel so empty.

Sehun no longer laying his head and sat up. He looked at me and a creased was visible above his nose. “Is that what’s on your mind?”

I looked at his eyes for a moment and the picture of him having his own family played on my mind. “Yeah… We couldn’t always be together.”

Sehun sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. “You’re right,” he said and stood up. He walked out of my house, leaving me without saying anything.

Grabbing my phone, I unlocked it and a wallpaper of us gave me a somehow bitter feeling.
