Why we Subscribe

I want to talk about something that has been on my mind for a very long time. I want to talk about Subscribing to stories and about the Subscribers themselves. I know that we all make are stories for Subscribers only, because we want that Karma points and the amount of subscriber total to increase. Heck Even I am guilty of doing it ^^ But is it too much to add onto Member only and Friends only, it starts to limit who would be viewing your stories.

I was once a person who did not even have an account and started to read fanfics. But then I came across a story reach made me wanted to read but it was for Subscribers only. So I created an account, then 5 months later I started to write my own story. I had wished I had made an account earlier, as I read a story that I cannot find anymore. I will now subscribe to every story I read, sometimes when I'm bored I will go back to the story and re-read it.

I don't tell my Subscribers that they have to stay subscribe after they finish reading. However most still stay subscribed, which makes me feel happy. However logging in everyday and seeing that I lost 3-5 does make me feel sad and that I should probably work harder on my story. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Also I want to ask how many Subscribers you have. I have over 6900 subscribers, to me I am happy and it’s a lot. However I do have a goal to reach over 10 000, Do you guys think it is a realistic goal to have? As many subscribers I have I don’t have that many friends. I have 290 friends and I do have goal to have 1000 friends.

To all Subscribers remember to write a positive comment. It helps the author feel better and may make them to update more often ;)

Please let me know what you think about Subscribers and if you have any questions feel free to ask =^-^=

I completely agree! I was also someone without an account who just read. I feel like the people who actually sub to your story are the ones to leave you comments, which is why I put mine on sub only. I as well feel as though I should have done better if they happen to unsub.

Hmm. For me writing is an outlet. The thought of other people enjoying what I write is probably one of the best feelings in the world and I appreciate each subscriber, but it's not like I can wrestle them back into the story if they unsubscribe, yes? XD

I never set my stories to subscribers-only. Honestly, I'm not here for the karma, I don't even use it to do anything. And why would I limit anyone who's from outside AFF? I find it much more amazing when I see people who are not in the AFF family read the story. Heck, I've even had a few of them make accounts so they can leave a comment. This was honestly one of the most awesome things ever :D

Sure it's a bit sad when someone unsubscribes, but what do we really know about that person? Maybe something in our story triggered her, or maybe she got bored. Not all of us catch up to some TV shows because sometimes we begin to dislike them at some point. Maybe someone unsubscribed because they deleted their accounts.

I don't think reaching over 10k subscribers on ONE story is possible, but unique subs or ALL subs from all stories? Sure, why not, you're close to it already :)

Rusty is cute.

I,myself, don't put my stories in any mode, but I want my readers to at least comment and tell their opinion.
And I having an account here has the same story as u,and I subscribe to stories that I enjoy and never have I unsubed after reading the story, because I respect the writers.
And I think I have 5 or 6 subscribers and about 15 friends that I've added.but I have more friends that I talk to and with them,nearly 30 friends=)

Hello ! I am a newbie writer and I have three subscribers. What I want is writing because I need to express myself. If I have a lot of comments or subscribers, yes I would be happy, but it is not my goal. However, I understand unsubscribing can be painful because you can think you are not loved anymore. Just think that people don't want to see the story so when they have finished, maybe they unsubscribe ?
Sometimes, I share your soul but indeed write what you want is better!
