Appearance: Hyemi is much shorter, at a height of 152 cm  with a somewhat slim body build (she weighs about 45-46 kg). She also has a tattoo of a butterfly (example) on the inner wrist of her left hand with a trail of stars (example) on the other wrist. 'Embrace your dreams' is tattooed between her shoulder blades on which there are wings (example).
 

       
Style: When it comes to style, Hyemi always chooses comfort over fashion, although she tends to merge the two together, wearing button shirts and a pair of jeans or even jeggins (1 & 2). She also likes wearing funny, clever t-shirts which have slogans and quotes on them (3 & 4). She's also quite fond of off-shoulder shirts and as well as other 'trendy but comfy' clothing since they are both comfortable and trendy at the same time (5 and 6). When it comes to shoes, she goes for quite trendy boots, sneakers (7) or wedge heels (8), which she adores; she states that stilletos simply won't do...because they're so impractical. Her favourite footwear is her pair of wedge sneakers (9) which she loves dancing in - she tends to dance in normal sneakers for comfort, though. When it comes to makeup, she tends to use a bit of mascara/ eyeliner with warm, natural colourered eye shadow (e.g. light brown, peach) with a small amount of lip gloss; she doesn't like using powders and other types of cosmetic other than those stated above. Her hair tends to be left loose although all her friends state that she looks quite very good when wearing her hair up.

SWEET: Most people enjoy Hyemi's company  due to her sweet and lovable personality as a person. She is capable of making anyone feel better by simply speaking to them and encouraging them. She is also deemed as sweet due to her love of sweet food (e.g. desserts) and she is famous for being a short, slight girl who is seen carrying a pink milk and a cupcake at break. However, she is quite shy and this shyness can easily be mistaken for a 'chic' attitude but due to her quiet yet loving personality, most people begin to fall for her as a person. She is also a very nice person when she wants to be (she is genuinely like this to other spies and friends she knows) although her friends all know that she can become exactly the opposite of her sweet side.

LOVABLE: As said above, Hyemi who is fun and bubbly as well as irresistibly sweet has a lovable character. Everyone tends to be attracted to her for some reason and they find themselves watching her without realising it. Her character is quiet yet loving, taking care of everyone and making everyone smile whe she does speak up. She is also known for some of the best jokes since she has a lot of time to think since she doesn't talk very often.

FRIENDLY: She is actually a very friendly person and doesn't like the idea of anyone in the school hating her due to knowing that they could very potentially destroy her life if she got on the wrong side of them. Furthermore, she is known as being quite a social girl amongst the students although she only trusts her closest friends, Sooyoung, Yoona and Jinyoung. Sometimes, due to her appearance, Hyemi is mistaken for someone who is colder and more isolated but when she smiles, most people are instantly charmed.

LOYAL: Hyemi is a loyal friend, looking out for her friends, whether or not she has the capability to. She will fight alongside anyone when she has to do so (as she likes the idea of justice)/

FUNNY (SILENT BUT DEADLY): Hyemi is known as a Shadow and she is always successful when pranking someone; noone but her friends (the closer ones) that the pranks are pulled through by her since she leaves a small note saying 'My best regards, The Ice Princess' every time which makes everyone eager to know who she is. These pranks stopped after she graduated from Gwacheon's Foreign Language High School. Furthermore, Hyemi loves having fun and tries her best to keep her closest friends smiling.

BUBBLY (AROUND YUHAN): Hyemi has the outer image of a lively pixie, acting as a pretty little girl with not a care in the world to lure her targets in. Outside of work, Hyemi is actually quite bubbly, being the one to bring smiles to her friends' faces. Hyemi is the one out of her friends who is always determined to go on trips to the amusement park and other places for the fun of it.

STRONG (IN CHARACTER, MIND AND BODY): Behind her carefree personality is a stronger character that she only brings out when necessary, to prove to others that she is not 'just a child'. This strong personality helps her go through various training sessions as well as the advanced training she takes outside her regular defense lessons. She also practices hard to make sure her body is functioning at its best, eating anything she knows will be healthy for her, even if she really dislikes it (especially vegetables). She is a strong young woman, sticking to her decisions till the very end or until she is certain that it will result in more casualties than can be avoided.

SHORT TEMPERED: Hyemi actually has a short temper which comes about in the form of her turning into the Ice Princess, a cool, cruel and terrifying side of her - her inner spy. When being teased, she tends to glare at a person, then throw a tantrum andignore the person for a while, as part of the more childish parts of her

FORGETFUL: When focused on her work and studies, Hyemi never forgets anything as she forces herself to commit anything said/done etc. to memory. However, due to this, she tends to forget a lot of things outside of university and work due to her relaxing her mind completely afterwards. She sometimes loses her test sheets (e.g. what to revise over) and ends up having to commit the whole subject to memory which she finds extremely frustrating but for the best grades possible she alway goes through with it.

PICKING FIGHTS: When she is annoyed beyond simply irritated, she will sweetly ask whoever it is to meet her at the gym or in the courtyard before asking them to try and hit her; due to her speed, it is rare that a hit comes anywhere near her. Also, since she trains her body every day AND became a master/ black belt in 3 martial arts, she is extremely strong and has excellent reflexes. These fights tend to be with people who go beyond just teasing her and she believes that since they picked the wrong girl to annoy, they would have to deal with the consequences.

Background:

Due to both her father's work and her mother's reluctance to leave Japan, Hyemi was born in Tokyo on April 14th 1994. Ever since a very young age, Hyemi was always fascinated with drawing and began doodling from a very young age. When she was two, her little brothers (Youngmin who was born 11 minutes before Kwangmin) were born and when she was three, she was nicknamed Mimi when Kwangmin couldn't pronounce her name since he was barely one at the time. While Hyemi, aged five, was more interested in drawing and photography, her brothers (even at the age of three) were more obsessed with songs and the music industry, teaching their older sister different songs. When she was six, her parents took her on holiday to Korea, where she met Shin Yuhan and befriended him. Just before the end of her holiday, the two exchanged contact details (parents' phone numbers + emails) and promised each other that they would always stay in touch.

Six years passed since then with a normal routine that Hyemi was getting used to. However, at the age of twelve, Hyemi was informed by her father that her mother had died in a car accident. Unable to stay in Japan, her father decided to leave and go back to Gwacheon, Korea, taking his children with him. There, Hyemi met her childhood friend, Yuhan, because they were living as neighbours and was delighted to find that he hadn't changed at all. Her father, Hong Ki, met his childhood friend, Yoona, and they got married. By this time, Hyemi was thirteen and was attending a local middle school with Yuhan. A year later, baby Hyori was born and this somewhat lightened up the family's atmosphere as even Kwangmin, who had become even quieter after their mother's death, was smiling again. She helped Yoona with most of the housework, becoming a strong individual - especially as a woman.

When she was sixteen, Hyemi enrolled into Gwacheon Foreign Language High School, whilst Yuhan went to a Performing Arts School in Seoul, just north of Gwancheon. On the way home, Hyemi noticed Uee and other girls walking in the same direction and decided to befriend them and thus, the friendship circle was created. Despite having many friends in the group, Uee despised her for being so close to Yuhan who had once been Uee's best friend before Hyemi had returned to Korea, constantly bullying Hyemi and making her life living hell. However, when all the seniors, in the group began to graduate, she noticed how the group slowly separated and was quite upset since she wanted to keep everyone as friends. When the next group of her friends left, Hyemi gave up and began complaining to Yuhan who simply said: 'Friends come and go...but I'll always be here for you...' However, she found out that Yuhan was dating Uee, which broke her heart.

Yuhan frequently took Hyemi to Sweetheart Cafe and Hyemi took up a parttime job there when she was eighteen and took up a night-job at Illumi's, a famous restaurant, in the same year. When she was nineteen, Yuhan took her out and she asked him to pay for the two tattoos she wanted and he agreed, getting two himself: a black butterfly on the inside of his left wrist and 'Protect Your Honour' tattooed on the inside of his right wrist as the counterpart of Hyemi's 'Embrace Your Dreams' tattoo (Crisis Core - Final Fantasy, Zack Fair: Embrace your dreams and whatever happens, protect your honour as Soldier). Uee, who found out the meaning of the tattoos demanded that Yuhan removed them but he responded that 'they won't come off'. Accepting that, Uee decided that she had had enough of Hyemi's relationship with Yuhan and sought to destroy the relationship.

After she graduated from GFLHS, she enrolled at Seoul National University and began studying for her Double Major in English and Art, aiming to become an English teacher. For the two or three years since she'd graduated, Hyemi has been studying for her Double Major as well as helping Yoona to keep her family together and looking after her two brothers. At the age of twenty, she moved into a house in Seoul with Yuhan, his friend (from his classes in SNU) Jinyoung and her friend (from both her high school AND her classes at SNU) Sooyoung and Yuhan's current girlfriend, Uee. Although she no longer lives with her family, she and Yuhan go to Gwacheon every weekend to see their parents and families; recently, to stop the two friends from bonding, Uee tags along, aiming to destroy any harbouring feelings between the two of them. Yuhan, listening to Uee (who uses subtle methods such as asking for dates whenever Hyemi tries to talk to him. Slowly, Yuhan begins to get farther and farther away from Hyemi in the sense that he is making it perfectly clear that they are friends and nothing more.

Personality: Yuhan, famous on campus as being the chic, handsome 'Ice Prince' is known for his icy cool persona, where he hides his true feelings behind a somewhat cold personality - this part of him is cool, sarcastic, cold and quite dismissive which Hyemi and his other friends love to call Y (Hyemi often jokes, saying things like: 'Y do I know you?'). However, he actually has a split-personality changing from his rough, cold outer image to his inner sweet 'nice-guy'. Another part of his personality is the extreme cruel Yuhan, since he has a short temper and when angry, he is furious and threatens the person who irks him at the time. He's also secretly jealous of Baekhyun (Hyemi's friend and ex-boyfriend) and he is actually dating Yujin because she is betrothed to him as his father gave his word without asking . However, Yuhan seems to be unable to be that angry with Hyemi (even though Yujin constantly demands that he never speaks to Hyemi), no matter what names she calls him and tends to just be moody, muttering under his breath. He has a second extreme as well, becoming a hyper machine and being what Hyemi calls the crazy, funny, weird yet adorable 'Yuhan' (since Y is his other self); when around Hyemi he tends to be himself, which is a mix of the 'four extremes', simply being the guy he is although he gets embarrassed when Jinyoung repeatedly asks how much Yuhan likes Hyemi (despite knowing the situation with Yuhan's engagement to Yujin) and trying to deny it even though his feelings are obvious in those moments. That's why he tends to avoid 'Truth' in 'Truth or Dare' games since Jinyoung might ask him such questions then and there, putting him on the spot.

First Meeting: When she was six, her parents took her on holiday to Korea, where she met Kim Myungsoo and befriended him. They became extremely close to the point that they were almost inseparable. They played nearly every day that she was on holiday for since they met. Just before the end of her holiday, the two exchanged contact details (parents' phone numbers + emails) and promised each other that they would always stay in touch. Since Hyemi cried that day (which Myungsoo still teases her about), Myungsoo told her that he would 'grow up and become a handsome man just for you...so wait for me, okay?' (Hyemi still teases him about this)

When her mother died and she moved to Korea with her family, she found out (and was delighted) to find out that she was living next door to Myungsoo and that was the second time they met. Since then, they've always been together.

Interactions: Yuhan thinks of Hyemi as a sweet, innocent princess although she retorts that she is not; he treats her the best out of all his friends and handles her delicately most of the time, tending to look out for her. He also loves teasing her and embarrassing her (mainly by flirting with her - when she flirts back he makes it worse and worse to the point that she gets really embarrassed and quite mad at him). Although he sometimes snaps at her and is quite sarcastic, hurting her feelings, he feels very bad about it and is always guilt ridden; he also tends to ignore her due to his relationship with Yujin. If the damage he does by his behaviour is very bad, Yuhan will apologise, but if it is a fight that both of them take part in he will not apologise due to his ego (although he still feels bad and apologises after Hyemi does). Around Hyemi, Yuhan tends to act normally, not hiding or keeping anything back; she is one of the few people who ever see his true self and he knows that he still likes him although he is not just the 'Ice Prince'. Around Hyemi, Yuhan is relaxed and it is the time that he can be true to both her and himself and when comparing this to his frustrated, irritated and tense behaviour around Yujin, he is still closer to Hyemi. In fact, he gets jealous whenever he sees boys (other than Jinyoung) talking to her, especially her ex-boyfriend, Baekhyun. However, he does hide his real feelings - his love for her - since he is scared of rejection as well as his father's wrath.

Hyemi, who has loved Yuhan since they were children, thinks of him as her own personal prince, although she doesn't call him that to his face, since she knows what he can actually be like (hyper, silly etc.). She treats him like any best friend would - with a lot of love and understanding, although her love is the real thing. Around Yuhan, Hyemi is rarely shy and she tends to tell really bad jokes and pulls pranks on him which he tends to either love or hate, grumbling about them. However, there are times when his bad mood gets the better of him and he snaps at her which sometimes breaks her heart. There are also times when they argue - sometimes over small things like chocolate and biscuits, and other times, worse things such as their previous relationships and whether or not it concerns each other. She always apologises first in these situations since one: she knows his ego couldn't take apologising first and two: she genuinely feels really bad about it. Whenever he apologises (even if it's after she does), she finds herself loving her awkward friend even more before realising that this love was actually 'true love'. But with Yujin constantly butting in, trying to tear the two apart, she finds her self becoming more reluctant to pick up the pieces of her breakingheart and to talk to Yuhan.
