Of s and birthdays - 1st September 2002

By the time Taehyung regained his senses and decided to help, Jungkook was already half way towards their school’s building. He was about to follow the younger’s steps but the rest of his friends stopped him.

The remaining five boys gave Taehyung a disapproving look. “What?” The now-youngest asked, a little uncomfortable by his hyungs looks (excluding Jimin who was the same age as him. But he was giving him that look too so, yeah.).

“What just happened?” Yoongi was the first one to question.

“Why is maknae gone?”  Namjoon followed.

“What did you do Taetae?” Hoseok asked, his eyes getting smaller by the second.

“I bet you said something stupid to maknae, didn’t you?” His same-age friend, Jimin accused.

“The poor boy looks so sullen, reminds me nothing of a pink rose.” The oldest, Jin, sighed in desperation.

All of the boys turned to look at Jin with their eyebrows cocked and foreheads scrunched. “What? Jungkook looks like a pink rose you know. Well, when he isn’t acting like this.”

“How?” Yoongi asked.

“His cheeks blush so beautifully! I swear, the moment he smiles or gets embarrassed, his cheeks turned into a pink ro-”

“Gross! Shut up, Jin-hyung! You’re acting gayer by the minute.” Jimin sighed, followed by the rest.

“What is a gay?” Taehyung innocently asked which earned him a smack on the head from Yoongi.

That did not stop Hoseok from jumping in to explain.“Uri-omma says that gay is when a boy likes a bo-” He got smacked squarely on the back by Yoongi too.

Namjoon cleared his throat. “Back to the main thing. What’s up with Jungkook?” And at that, all heads once again turned to Taehyung.

“How the hell should I know? One moment he was praising Yoongi-hyung and Hoseok-hyung for their awesome football skills, and the next he was--”

“Wait,” Jin cut in. “He didn’t praise me?”

Taehyung gave him a bored look. “He didn’t praise me either, join the club.”

“Aww, but I was totally killing it with my awesome kicks and strikes.”

“Yeah, yeah. We appreciate it hyung. Now shut up and let the boy speak,” Namjoon said, finally silencing the oldest.

There was a pregnant pause in the conversation, which made Yoongi and Hoseok smacked Taehyung on the head. “Ouch! What was that for?!”

“You’re telling the story idiot,” Jimin voiced out.

“Oh,” the youngest said blankly before continuing. “So, one moment he was praising these two hyungs, and the next he was shoving me and dragging his out of the field. I have no freaking clue why.”

“Did you say something stupid?” Jimin questioned with his eyes narrowed. He was quite convinced that Taehyung and his non-filtering mouth had something to do with Jungkook’s bad mood. That almost maknae of theirs was always on the goofy side, minus Hoseok, but he did not have to know that.

“Nu’uh.”

Hoseok cocked an eyebrow. “What did you say then?”

Taehyung gave his hyungs a confused look and answered. “I said that his knee needed to get some bandage.”

“Your exact words, Taetae,” Hoseok repeated.

“What difference does it make? I only said that his knee looked like and he needed some bandages.”

Things turned awfully silent after Taehyung made the explanation.

Jin shook his head while Yoongi let out a cynical smirk. Hoseok slumped himself onto the bleachers next to Taehyung while both Namjoon and Jimin had their eyes locked onto the youngest boy with an are-you-freaking-kidding-me-why-the-hell-are-you-so-stupid? look.

“Whaaat?” Taehyung repeated, clearly confused with his hyungs.

“Congatulations Taehyung,” Namjoon spoke up, looking at the boy as if he was a retard. “You just called maknae on his birthday.”

Silence.

Wedding speeches - 6th February 2018

“To have these two marry each other is a no-brainer really,” Namjoon was the first to start the Best Man speech. “They’ve known each other since forever and have been with each other ever since. They didn’t need to be in a relationship to send out a message that they love each other, everything was pretty much like an open book.

“Rosie, you have always been Jungkook’s favorite person. You have such an impact on him that……I’m jealous,” that earned some laughs from the crowd. “You’re an awesome girl, Rosie, and I know that you are the perfect person for Jungkook to spend the rest of his life with., Jangmi gave the man a smile from her seat.

“Jungkook,” Namjoon continued his speech. “It’s kinda hard to see you getting married. After all, you are the youngest out of the 7 of us. Though, I’m also glad that you did get married, because it means that all those years of watching you whining from the sidelines about Rosie will end. Rosie is all yours now. You don’t have to bother us hyungs and be a lovesick puppy anymore,” Jungkook turned to the side as an attempt to cover his blush. “You guys may be young, but I know that with each other, you guys can take over the world. Lastly, welcome to the family Rosie, you are officially our sister-in-law now!”

“Hello there, my name is Seokjin, the one you girls have been staring at. I’m still single, while the maknae right there,” he pointed to Jungkook, “is already married. Now, what does that tell us?” The crowd turned silent. “It means that……Either I’m very picky or those two right there just couldn’t wait. And personally, I think both are true. Jungkook and Jangmi have never really been part from each other, mostly because Jungkook there is really clingy, even at a young age. It amazes me how Jangmi said yes when he proposed though.”

He looked at Jungkook with his eyes narrowed. “You did propose to her, right?”

Jungkook returned the gaze with an are-you-kidding-me-look, but he was still smiling when he did so. “We are all here right now, so I supposed he did.” Jin shrugged and fixed his gaze on the wedded couple. “I’m not married nor have I been in a serious relationship so I don’t really know if I have the right to say this, but, what the heck? I’m going to do it anyways. In my opinion, one of the best things you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Whether you are in a good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty or handsome, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out of your . In this case, that is how Jungkook sees Jangmi, but she’s always pretty, just like her name.”

Jangmi smiled while her husband shuddered. “The point is Jangmi, no matter how Jungkook right there is going to bother you nonstop and most probably will cause you many headaches, the love that he has for you is by far, the most beautiful thing I ever known. You made a right choice when you said ‘yes’ to him,” the crowd awed in unison and gave the newlywed couple a beaming look. “I assume you did say ‘yes’, and Jungkook did not trick you into this marriage, of course.”

Oh Jin.

Yoongi’s was relatively short, alcohol did him much harm that night. “Maknae got married before I did, damn,” Taehyung and Jimin had to hold him from wobbling and falling off the stage. “But I guess that’s life huh? I’m glad that he chose to marry you, Jangmi. If anyone can take care of him, you can. After all, even a pain in the needs someone to take care of him.”

“Let’s make a toast!” Hoseok said and everyone put up their glass of wine and champagne. “To the ‘F’ word!”

Jangmi bit her lip and hoped that Hoseok would not say something stupid. He must have noticed her nervousness, because he gave her cheeky smile before continuing. “Friends, family, fate, and of course,” he held his glass out to the couple, “to forever. Congratulations maknaes, and I hope that you guys name your first child after me. Peace.”

Jungkook and Jangmi choked on their drinks.

Jimin took the microphone from Hoseok and started opening the small paper that he had in his hands. He cleared his throat and started his speech. “Jungkook has proven to be a very talented person ever since he was a kid. He is smart, athletic, musically talented and even dances too. He is also a chic magnet, and I doubt that that’s ever going to sto,.” Jangmi nods her head in agreement and Jungkook narrowed his eyes at her.

“I also know that Jungkook has a golden and loving heart. He has always loved you and that is never going to change. I’m very sure that he is going to be a responsible, mature, wise, thoughtful, loving, caring, sweet, funny, amazing,” he suddenly paused and squinted his eyes. “Yah maknae!”

Jungkook answered him with a confused look. “What?”

Jimin held the paper up. “I can’t read your writing!”

Golden.

Taehyung was the last to take the microphone. Jangmi felt worried and excited at the same time. She knew that Taehyung had gritted his teeth and bit his fingernails when writing (or trying to write) the perfect Best Man speech.

“My name is Taehyung and I love lions,” there was an awkward silence from the crowd. Jungkook and his hyungs furrowed their eyebrows in confusion; murmurs could also be heard from the guests.

“Oh , wrong speech,”  the couple snorted and the crowed thundered.

Taehyung blushed. He took another paper from his pocket and started reading it. “Okay, this one is right. I’m going to make it short and simple. Jungkook and Jangmi, I sincerely hope that the worst of your past days is better than the best of your future.”

Silence.

“Oh , wrong again.”

BTS- 8 years later - 28th April 2026

Believe it or not, none of them were married yet. Jin was having a marriage-like relationship with his girlfriend of 3 years. The lady was 4 years younger than Jin, but quite a mature one. Jangmi hoped to see the two tie the knot someday.

Yoongi was having an on-and-off relationship with a girl he met a few years back. Jangmi wondered how the hell did the two stayed together—despite always fighting—for so long.Jangmi wasn’t really fond of Yoongi’s girlfriend, she was a bit on the snobbish side. But it looked like Yoongi really loved her, so who was she interfere?

Both Hoseok and Namjoon were still single. The two wanted to ‘travel the world’ and ‘make the best out of their lives’ before even thinking of having a relationship. Maybe dating wasn’t their thing. But they were happy with their current lives, Jangmi didn’t see any signs of loneliness—which she was pretty good of sensing, so they were the least of her worries.

Jimin, Park Jimin. What should she do with him? That oppa of hers had been engaged for 6 times in the last 4 years and had broken off every single one of them. Every time when she and Jungkook asked, he would say that ‘the girl was not the one’ or ‘he was not ready for a marriage’. He didn’t lack love like some of his hyungs did but he was having a hard time deciding what he really wanted. He loved all those girls, everyone knew it. But perhaps he just lacked commitment and truly ‘wasn’t ready’.

And then there was Taehyung. Too like Jungkook, Taehyung was born into a family of large corporate. He had responsibilities from young, but with less pressure bestowed (hah) upon him as he was the youngest in his family. He was also the craziest, mind you. Playing—how ever you want to interpret the word—was a great part of Taehyung’s life. He was a happy and laid-back kind of guy, and people loved him for it.

But his fun could only last for so long.

Kim Taehyung was now engaged to an heiress of a textile company. She was everything he wasn’t, and though he had no love for her, he didn’t really have a choice. The marriage was scheduled on late October, right after Jangmi’s birthday. Taehyung himself requested for the date.

She wondered why.
