Key has fallen from his almighty throne? Oh. Hell. No.
Oooooh I just read a post online that pissed me off. I mean it was from last year but still.
Someone made a blog post talking about how Key's skills are deteriorating and how he is falling as a kpop idol and losing his standing in SHINee because of one not so great solo performance and ended the post by basically blaming it on Taemin's improvement in the group and how in a few years, the group will be "Taemin and the SHINee Scene." The saddest part was some fans that were commenting were saying things like "SHINee has three great vocals: Onew, Jonghyun, and Taemin. 3/5 is enough" and "Make that 4/5, Minho has been getting better."
First off, I hope I never find these people. Mercy on their souls.
Second, Key is, and forever will be, an amazing idol. His voice is mothercrapping amazing and one of the most unique out there. SHINee isn't SHINee without Key, and the same goes for all of the other members. One bad solo performance doesn't mean he's suddenly a bad performer. I mean come on, how many times has Onew's voice cracked awfully during live performances, and you don't hear people saying, "SHINee would be fine without him. They have other great vocals." But no, you have to criticize Key, because he isn't a main vocalist, and he isn't a main dancer, and he isn't a main rapper, but guess what? He's still damn amazing at all three! Jonghyun's written a few songs? That's great, can we talk about the fact that Minho has written more, but you don't see people talking about that. Jonghyun and Onew are the main vocalists, but the one that had the permanent position on Immortal Song was Taemin. Everyone in the group is damn near perfect, but they don't always get recognized. But for some reason, one mistake and people have to flip their and start saying "SHINee is fine with just 3 vocals." If those people call themselves Shawols then that's a disgrace to the fanbase.
Apparently SM was focusing too much on Taemin? Screw that. Everyone had their own schedule. Onew and Key were doing musicals, Minho and Taemin were going from variety show to variety show, and Jonghyun was writing and appearing on variety shows as well. So Taemin got most of Jonghyun's lines in Why So Serious. That was already explained to people by Taemin himself. Why are people taking it as a bad thing that Taemin's voice has improved and he's becoming a main vocalist, because lets face it, he's getting more high notes than Onew lately. He had a long note in Dream Girl, and Why So Serious, and he had the longest one in Everybody, and may I say he was amazing, but what? Because he's gotten better its suddenly his fault that Key is apparently "falling from his almightly throne"? Oh hell no. Key is just as great, just because his voice is different means nothing. It's because his voice is different that people love it. He shouldn't have to change for fans to like him if they've supposedly been loyal to him since the beginning.
I'm going to quote something I saw on Twitter the other day. "Pull a Taemin and improve."
If you've scene that KBS Special called Hard Working Idols with Taemin, Kai, and Yunho, you know that Taemin said so himself, that he's spent hours trying to improve his voice and dancing skills. (It pisses me off that for some reason, its so difficult to find the one with only Taemin now, because when you search Taemin's cut, you just get "Kai" or "Kai and Taemin" like WTF damn exo saesang fans are pissing me off. But that's a completely different problem). He said his friends used to make fun of him, calling him tone deaf, and that he'd be famous for his dancing, but not his voice. He sure proved them wrong!! HA!
The point is that you can't blame Key's supposed "lose of talent" on Taemin. Don't throw whenever problems you have with Key on Taemin, that's a move. Key isn't my bias, but that doesn't mean I love him any less than Minho or Taemin (Yes, I have two biases. Minho because of his looks, and Taemin because of his talent. Sue me). I love all of SHINee equally, if one impresses me more than the other, that's my opinion, but that's not to say that I think one of them and needs to improve. I thought Taemin's voice was nice since their Replay era. Has it gotten better? Absolutely! But just because he's gotten better, doesn't mean anyone has a right to say it's his fault that Key or any other member may not be doing so well, or that SM favors Taemin over the others. SM doesn't force Taemin to spend extra hours practicing his vocals or dancing, Taemin chooses to do that on his own.
Everyone has their ups and downs, and one or two downs doesn't give anyone, much less a Shawol of all people, the right to say that Key is a dead weight. Key is amazing, and honestly brightens my day. Have you seen his Instagram? He posts some of the craziest stuff, and it's some of the greatest things I've ever seen. Some of the pics he posts, most idols would be embarrassed to post, but that's the great thing about Key. He's bold and bright and he does everything he can to make his fans happy and make them smile even on their worst days. He could be dead tired but he'd still do what he can for his fans.
Has anyone seen this before? He wrote a message to a fan that was depressed and cutting herself and encouraged her to stop, saying that he would watch over her posts to see her progress. And I'm not sure if I'm reading into it too much, but it kind of looks like he made a reference to cutting himself? Honestly, I don't know, so I'm not even going to get into that. The point is that this post encouraged that girl to try and stop cutting. She actually posted that she would try and stop for him. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, but do you see what I mean? Key is a wonderful person, kind and caring, and he doesn't deserve the rude comments he's been getting. SHINee is nothing without Key, just as it would be nothing with Jonghyun, or Taemin, or Minho, or Onew. They are SHINee, whether some fans like it or not, and if they don't, than who cares? No one is forcing them to be a fan. Anyone who thinks the group would be great without any one of the members clearly isn't a real Shawol, and it honestly makes me feel ashamed at times to call myself a Shawol, knowing that those people are calling themselves the same thing.
Moral of the post: If you have a problem with one of the members, get out. Whether it's Key, or any of the others, if you honestly in your heart and mind believe that SHINee would be fine without one of the members, than you have no right to call yourself a Shawol, and I hope you feel ashamed of yourself. Sorry to let people know that idols aren't perfect human beings. They are normal people, with incredible talent, and they make mistakes too. We try to see them as being these all-perfect beings, but they're not. They're human. Try to understand that.
If even after this post, you still can't see how amazing Key is, than that's not my problem.
To end on a more humorous note: This has been another one of Cloudie's long rants. Stay tuned for more when I find something that pisses me off enough.
P.S. ALL HAIL THE FOREVER ALMIGHTY KEY!
May you forever shine brightly and never let stupid comments like those get you down!
