I know I've been miserably inactive lately, but with the recent contract dispute between Kris and SM Entertainment, I want to put something out there and see what others think. I've been seeing a lot of posts on Tumblr about how Kris can't leave SM Entertainment, because there are so many fans who haven't gotten a chance to see him in concert or fanmeeting, and how he plays such a big role in Exo. I think it's definitely sad, but wouldn’t it be even more horrible if Kris were to stay with the company that has clearly abused him and impeded on his human rights? I feel like even if Kris and SM Entertainment reach an agreement in the lawsuit, there’s a good chance SM Entertainment won’t change the way they treat him. Even after the lawsuits with Hangeng and DBSK, where they were also accused of violating their artists’ human rights, they haven’t learned/cared to try to change and prevent other lawsuits like these. It’s been five years since Hangeng’s lawsuit, and they’re still pulling the same . So yeah, Kris biases and Exo fans may never see Kris perform, but isn’t that better than having the person they love sacrifice years of his health and happiness for their however many seconds/minutes/hours of being able to see him in concert or a fanmeeting? It’s sad that Kris may be leaving Exo, but it’s already depressing to know SM Entertainment is still abusing their artists and will continue to do so to Kris if he stays… I feel like we need to respect Kris' decision to leave if he feels that it's the best choice for himself and his lifestyle, even if that means we'll have to sacrifice a small amount of our own happiness.
