Kris

As many of you know, Kris has sued SM and filed for contract termination. I'm just going to add my two cents. You don't have to agree with me, but you do have to respect my opinion. It may not be articulated consistently with my thoughts, but it will be stated as accurately as I can possibly write it.

I like Kris. I really do. He seemed like a quirky but warmhearted leader. After some consideration, I have decided that I have accepted that it seems unlikely that he will return to EXO. It wouldn't make sense for the members cry so hard and seem so hurt if he was unlikely to leave and simply wanted to revise his contract. Judging by their sudden shift in behavior, it seems that he probably dropped the news to them this week. And he probably isn't planning on coming back.

Now, I do not believe that EXO's social media was hacked. Sure, SM can be nasty at times, but hacking is a childish thing and I don't think that the staff would sink that low. I'm not sure why Tao's Weibo was updated in Daejeon when he was in Seoul at that time, unless that too was false. As I said, Kris probably suddenly told everyone a few days ago. Remember when Dongho left U-Kiss? It was virtually free of drama, because he had discussed his decision with his other members. Had Kris done the same, perhaps this wouldn't be such a big deal. So no, I don't think he told anyone until now. And yes, EXO has every right to feel betrayed and angry right now. Do not bash them or Kris. We can't just think about Kris and glorify his behavior; we have to view this from EXO's perspective as well.

If Kris wants out, then, in accordance with his most recent Instagram post, of course he's okay right now because he got what he wanted. Obviously EXO, on the other hand, is not.

I'm not doubting his bond with the members, because I firmly believe that he cared about them. I just don't necessarily agree with the way he handled his problems. I think he acted a bit selfishly and was foolish to have done this on his own. The timing was horrible as well. To leave without notice a week before your band's first solo concert is inconsiderate. Yes, he is his own individual, but he is also part of a team. And he did not consider the feelings of his team.

There is no "I" in team.

That's why I feel more sad for EXO than for Kris right now. Not because I'm siding with them. Not because I hate Kris, because I said I like Kris. But because Kris wants out and is getting what he wants, whereas they are losing their good friend for reasons that they have yet to accept and understand.

You can say that SM makes slave contracts, and yes, I agree. But contracts are meant to be controlling to an extent. I don't agree with all aspects of SM contracts, because I know that the company is pretty bad in the field of preserving basic human rights. I watched that clip of Taemin fainting. I also watched Krystal faint through my computer screen. I've watched performances in which idols were either really sick or injured and should not have been on stage at all. I've seen idols looking like they were on the verge of collapse due to exhaustion or starvation, or both. I know the idol industry is unforgiving and ugly. But unfortunately I don't think that there is much that we can do about it right now.

The point is that we'll never know the full story. We can confirm or refute our theories when an official statement is released, but even then, there might be a small cover-up within it. We are the public, so we are always on the outside. We will never completely see the truth.

So stop pointing fingers at everyone. Stop blaming SM and the staff. Stop blaming Kris. Stop blaming EXO. Antagonizing either of the parties will not help to resolve the issue and it will not help anyone.

Do not wish for OT12. You can reminisce, but do not impose your will onto EXO, Kris, or SM. Kris is done with EXO and SM, therefore, he is not likely to come back. It just causes more damage and makes the fandom appear more delusional and blind.

Do not post on the members' Instagrams asking about the issue. It rubs salt into their wounds. I know you want to know, but the last thing they would want right now is more questions. Think about it. How would you feel if you had thousands of people in your face every day asking you repeatedly about a topic that you're super sensitive about?

I sincerely wish that things work out for the better for EXO, that Kris can live the life he wants, and that we as a fandom can cope and move on from this. It's been a sad two days, but let us rise above the chaos rather than fall down further into it.

Stay strong.

The funny thing is, all of the side have the right and the wrong things.
