My Opinion on Kris' decision

loads of stuff has happened in the last 24 hours.

This may be one of the most stupid ways to start my very first blog post, but it's true. I come back home from a long tiring day at 11pm and I couldn't wait to snuggle under my warm duvet and conk into dreamland. But what do I find when I quickly open tumblr - a picture informing me of Kris Wu Yi Fan filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment over problems with his contract.

I was not sleepy anymore.

Digging around the internet, many different websites have said different things. Many of them are confusing, as one second you're reading something and you go to the next website and it says the complete opposite.

I go to school the next day and am greeted by my friend (also and exotic) who is bawling her eyes out. We ended up plonked on the floor right smack in the middle of the corridor, letting the reality of this situation sink in. My other fellow exotic buddy arrives, and she apparently does not know the news. She too joins our mourning circle. My friends realised I wasn't crying.

I was am still so depressed that I can't show any emotion besides a blank face. For the first time in forever (ohh Frozen reference... I did not just do that), I actually was not interested in class, nor in my friends, nor even the fanfiction I am currently obsessed about. Nothing has really lifted my mood today.

I am one insignificant little fangirl. If I am feeling such pain, what amount of pain is the whole fandom experiencing.

Let's just consider the facts, to really understand how serious this is.

1. Kris filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to have his contract terminated in Seoul Central District Court.

He is suing them for:

  • "violating his basic civil rights"
  • "treating him like an object rather than discussing his future as an entertainer".
  • "not regarding the opinions of the members of the status of their health when making decisions for their schedule"
  • "not offering any detailed explanation or documents concerning pay

If that's too much for you, just remember they "violated his civil rights and restricted his freedom in choosing his manner of employment and financial activity, making the contract invalid".

Now I am not quoting directly, but this is pretty serious if I can remember that whole phrase.

2. The law firm and lawyer Kris is using is the same company who helped Hangeng back in 2009

Hangeng is the former leader of Super Junior- M, who sued SM for his 13 year contract, something he reconned was "unlawful". He also mentioned lengthy working hours and lack of timely medical treatment - basically what Kris is suing over.

And what is the most concerning thing here, they won the case for Hangeng

WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY WIN THE CASE.

3. The news of the case comes exactly a week from Exo's very first solo concert

This is meant to be an important milestone in Exo's history. When you have your first concert to sold out audiences over 3 nights, it means you have made it. But there won't be any celebration if one of their members is missing, right? Now, the remaining 11 boys will have to make do and prepare without Kris. If nothing gets solved in the next 6 days, they will forever remember that day memorable for the wrong reasons, one of their team members couldn't make it, out of his own choice.

4. The other members have apparently unfollowed Kris on social media.

From what I was last told (9 hours ago), Baekhyun was the only one still following Kris on Instagram.

I notice some fans are only thinking about having one less person in Exo (WHICH I HOPE DOESN'T HAPPEN PLEASE GOD ENOUGH WITH ALL THE SUFFERING), but they also need to think about the other Exo members feelings.

Suho, being the fabulous leader he is, commented while he was receiving an award at M! Countdown for Overdose, "Our motto is, "We are one" and like the motto says we'll become an Exo that thinks about Exo and our fans instead of our individual selves." This is obviously directed at Kris, and we have to give our leader for putting it an appropriate way.

HOWEVER (yes here it is)

He later on explained how the other members didn't understand Kris' actions, which is comforting for us fans as we know everyone is one the same fricking page. He also says "I think Kris' actions are irresponsible and show that he is not thinking about Exo at all."

no no No NO NO

That is now way too harsh.

If Suho is so betrayed, what are the other boys experiencing. They are literally at the peak of their career, and to be on the road to rock bottom must be heart-wrenching, and my heart goes out to all of them.

It is said members such as Chanyeol, Tao and Sehun messages on social media directed at Kris, but some people are saying they aren't legitimate..

We all know the reasons for Kris' sudden decision, but could there be more reasons underneath? Me and my buddies were talking about it, but I won't put the exact words we said here in case something totally wrong spreads.

Maybe there is something wrong with his family? Maybe there are people with threats? Maybe a previous colleague is targeting Kris?

If you actually understand what I am talking about and agree, do what you want. But if you don't understand, interpret it and wait until more news comes out. See if you're right, 'cause I know I will be.
