Royally Screwed - My Opinion and Giveaway Entry

I have been reading this story on AFF and I absolutely love it to bits although with all the drama it get's slightly confusing haha. If you're into really deep and angsty writing I definitely 100% recommend Royally Screwed to you. And if you like Baekhyun then that's an extra! The author is holding a giveaway *cough which I wouldn't mind winning* and here are my answers. You could read this and get an opinion on whether you would want to read it but tbh if you don't you're seriously missing out.

Who’s your favorite character?

This may sound really weird to some readers but I actually feel closet to Kai. He may come across as a spoilt, ignorant, rich brat who does not realise how much responsibility he has for his future and his future company, but in reality, it is all just a facade. Rebelling against his father is the only thing Kai really knows how to do, since all he had been doing for much of his life has been controlled by his father. With Hajoon so closed off and cold, Kai has no positive role model to look up to, and since he doesn't want to be like his father, Kai has to try and defy him in order to steer into the opposite direction.

I personally really like the entries he writes in his mother's old diary, because they describe his situation so well, yet if you did not know the circumstance he was in you would not have any idea what the heck he was refering to. I think that he does that so he can express himself, without directly showing his weaknesses to his father if he ever came upon the diary. In general, I feel I relate to those passages. Sometimes I find myself going back to reread a recent entry he had written within the story, and I guess this shows my connection with Kai in the sense that I know how he feels.

I also like how he is so determined to protect himself, specifically the weaker side of him. Sure sometimes I feel like slapping him upside the head and tell him to go find someone to talk about his problems to, but I find I relate to him through his refusal to dispense their grief and anguish and sorrow onto someone they think would not be worhtwhile or understanding about. I also admire how he has so much resilience and how he always perserveres to bounce back from whatever people do or say to him, which is something I hope I can learn from him.

Who’s the least likeable character?

I don't have a least likeable character tbh, but if there was one that I had to pinpoint it would be IU. She seems way too Mary-Sue to me and although there may be people out there who appear so perfect, I really wish she had a really obvious flaw. (Her obliviousness to Sehun's obvious lack of sincere affection could be a flaw since she seems so thick at times but I don't think this actually counts so...)

What is your favorite scene?

It would definitely have to be the bowing scene of Chen in Chapter 47. I usually am not very touched by solemn acts of respects or farewells (I just get really jittery and start recontemplating my life decisions but nothing too big), but I actually cried. I was reading this in Maths and I was tearing up and my teacher must have thought I had gone mad. The second I left the classroom I was close to bawling my eyes out, I was this touched. I'm not a very emotional person but since I cried this says a lot.

I think I like this scene the most because you can clearly see the amount of respect and gratitude Chen has for his mother. She sacrifices her chances for a new life in loyalty to her husband, yet she doesn't deny the same for her only son. And the fact that though everything is uncertain, she is willing to part with her son for the sake of his future. Chen's respect is shown when he bows, and even more so when he bows for a longer period of time. He doesn't want to leave his mother behind to fend for herself, yet he respects her decision by going to the US.

I also like this because in my life, I have never really seen boys with very close relationships to their mothers. They usually shun them for their friends or decide to do more 'masculine' activities with their fathers, but the fact that Chen almost considers his mother first, is something really nice to see.

Password: Drowning (I think this is it cus that's the meaning of the almost tattoo so yeah...)

HA! IU is the Mary Sue of my story. She's a little too perfect and *cough that's why Sehun doesn't like her. Because who would?*cough. I've always pictured Sehun with somebody with actual flaws and a REAL personality. (Le's forget the fact that I wrote IU.)

Oh god, I don't think you realize how touched I am by your answer to the last question. Hearing somebody else describe the scene in their own words is like reliving the goodbye all over again.

There's a lot more I would like to say and agree on, but I'm going to stop blabbering right now.

Thank you for your entry!
