"NO K-POP ANYMORE" ...WAIT-WHAT?!

Oh, gosh, the worst times of life.

So, this conversation happened a few months ago, but I didn't feel right posting it online, I know I can switch it to "private", but I just didn't want to do it yet.

So, the feeling of the conversation came back to me again while I was laughing and giggling at the AllKpop memes

I really like this one: (but they're so many, I'm not done looking through them yet)

Soshi was about to release their new mini-album, Mr. Mr. and of course I wanted to ask to buy that album, but the feeling came to me again :(

A couple months ago, my parents (well, my dad) overheard me playing Paparazzi in my room, and when he asked what it was, I told him. He said I was not allowed to further listen to the songs anymore becuase it was I'm not a South Korean so I'm not allowed to listen to Korean songs. And I'm like: "WTF?" Well, I didn't say that, but I thought it in my head. American music is so overrated nowadays with all their swearing, drinking, and you...know...

I admit: sometimes Koreans do that too, but it's not like a TREND! Like Big Bang's "Lollipop" (they're not talking about candy) or BoA's "Eat You Up". It isn't really natural for Koreans to sing about that kind of stuff because they're Asians, and you know Asians are not so..."wild", look at American popstars nowadays! That's why I LOVE K-Pop so much! Koreans don't go coo-coo like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and them! I'm Vietnamese, and I don't really like listening to that music because it's boring. No groups, no popularity! It's B-O-R-I-N-G!

Now of course, Americans don't all do this, but a majority nowadays sing and rap about this stuff!

So, when I'm only 13 where I have no money and I'm trying to listen to my favorite group sing, IM NOT GOING TO GET ANY KPOP MUSIC! I see people unboxing their albums on YouTube and I litterly cry!

I want to get that album with the special photobook, I want that signed limited album, I want that BACON PHOTOCARD! (Baekhyun, I mean). So, I have depressed myself into watching those unboxings, so I can feel like I'm opening it. When am I going to have that huge collections of photocards and show it off to my besties? NEVER! When I'm like seventeen, and I've only started my album-collecting, and I only have like TWO?! And I still hope GG, EXO, SHINee, f(x), and Super Junior will still be making music by then, because my life would !

Now, I love telling you fanfictors about my trashy life (NOT!) but, I gotta go and weep still! Gotta go and look at KPop memes to make me feel better! *WAILS*

I have dreams of someone giving me a KPop album as a present, but no one besides my parents and my cousin that I obsess KPop. (DOES MY GRANDPARENTS KNOW? I LIVE WITH THEM MORE THAN MY PARENTS, AND THEY MUST NOTE MY SINGING ON MY COMPUTER. THEY SHOULD KNOW THAT IT IS not VIETNAMESE...)

(DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MESSAGE SAYS?! THE FIRST ONE TO GUESS IT RIGHT WILL BE AWARDED 15 KARMA POINTS!)

I completely agree with grass rebellion. Your dad is so ignorant.. So what if you're not korean ? That shouldn't even be an excuse. You really like the music and that's all that should matter...
I guess all you can really do is keep convincing your parents without hopefully pestering them so much or wait till you're old enough to make decisions for yourself/out of the house, or til you get a job and buy it yourself. I actually just recently started my collection. I'm much older and never wanted to bother my parents about buying me albums that I could only get online....it's been a long wait (fan of kpop since 2006)but I think it was worth it ^.^

Umm.....technically "Paparazzi" is a Japanese song, not a Korean song so.......loophole there? XD

I agree, the people in the Western music industry are kind of messed up. Miley Cyrus grew from Hannah Montana to...whatever she is today. JB has always been bad. -___-

But then again, not ALL songs are like that. For example, One Republic still makes good songs for example. True, a whole chunk of the Western music industry has gotten....kind of negative throughout the years, but it's not all of them. Then again, you are entitled to what you think.

Well, same here. It seems to be with the Vietnamese for some reason.....I'm Vietnamese and my dad doesn't like Kpop much. Luckily, I have my mom to back me up since she watched the K-dramas. XD And also I always use earphones so I won't bother my dad. :D

Wait, you mean that message that's small? All it says is that you've always dreamt of someone giving you an album as a present but no one other than your family knows that you obsess over Kpop and you wonder whether they know you listen to Kpop since you are with them more and note your singing which isn't Viet.

Oh well, btw sorry that your dad isn't letting you listen to Kpop. There is no language barrier in music. The majority of the world listens to American music yet a lot of them don't even know how to speak it yet they listen to it. So, why can't we listen to Korean music? That's just being ignorant not letting you do that. -_-

Actually KPop is not a representation of Korean music. There are some Korean artists who have a y concept, look at Gain's new MV for example ^^; And just because it's American it doesn't mean it's going to be all y or about drugs. It goes both ways from what I've seen. You're entitled to how you think though of course, but you know what I mean? It just bugs me fans treat KPop like it's so 'pure and innocent' but it's really not.

Anywho though excuse my ranting XD

I'm sorry your dad won't let you listen to it :( My family's okay with me liking it, you don't have to be Korean to listen to KPop that's ignorant on his part -__-
