Girls' Generation - The Boys (An Album in Review)

(Track 001) The Boys:

It has a good mood to it. It's kind of the anthem of Girls' Generation. I like it. Everyone's voices mix well together (like they always do), but in this song it has a special, tingly, warm feeling inside that's excellent. My favorite part is when they rap at the part "Girls' Generation, we don't stop!" They sing very confidently, including words like "Girls' Generation makes you feel the heat!" and "Girls bring the boys out", which I thought was a certain anthem for girls. Excellent song. 8/10

(Track 002) Telepathy:

Before, I had never heard this song before. Actually, the only song I've heard before was The Boys because it was the title track in this album. Unlike The Boys' theme, this song has a very light feeling to it. It's very cute and sweet. I like every single Girls' Generation song and I am not disappointed with anything, but sometimes "Oh!" has of a too-girly feeling to it. This song is also "girly" (if you say it that way), but it brings a good feeling to it. Listen to it on a bad day, cheer up. 8/10

(Track 003) Say Yes:

Again, this song has a cheery mood to it, just like Telepathy. Although I have not looked up at the English Subtitles yet, I'm pretty certain that it's talking about a love story, or anything related to love. In the beginning, is says "Stop in the name of love", so yeah, I'm pretty sure. I've actually heard part of this song before because it was on the Japan Tour, and I have watched that. I actually really like this song. Once you listen to it multiple times, it gets stuck in your head like so. I'm singing to it right now. Can you feel my heart? Can you read my mind? It also brightens my mood, even though I'm already happy. Fabulous :D 8/10

(Track 004) Trick:

This song has a feeling kind of like The Boys, because it's not as bright as the other songs, but I still enjoy it. The song's okay, I mean, the ERRRRR sound that's in the background when the girls are singing is kind of annoying (if you guys know what I'm saying. It disappears when the chorus clicks in, though.) I enjoy the song, but it wasn't as catchy as the other songs that were back in the album, however. Still, it's a song that you can definitely dance to for any occasion. 7/10

(Track 005) How Great is Your Love:

Unlike any of the other songs on the album, this has a more classical feel.  It is "light", and I don't mean songs like "Gee" or "Oh!", or even "Say Yes", or "Telepathy" even. I like the feel of the song it gives out to me. It's totally a song you'll hear watching a K-Drama when the two couple main characters are having a fun time, against the boy's umma's opinions (in some drama cases.) As far as track 5, this was my favorite song. Also love how Taeyeon ends the song, too. 91/2/10 (Nine and a half out of ten)

(Track 006) My J:

Again, a cheery song. But still, I don't have any concerns considering "Say Yes", "Telepathy" and now "My J." I really want to look up the english subs. because I don't know who this "My J" is. The girls' love interest? I don't know. It's also that song that you can sing while walking around spring when all the cherry blossoms are blooming and falling. I can imagine the girls doing a music video to this. With a dance sequence included, of course. Something that happens in a musical, I guess. Cheery songs, I love them! 8/10

(Track 007) Oscar:

Just as the second member started singing, I heard autotune. As the song started, I was like "Ah, what is this? I'm confused!" But as soon as 0:39 second mark started, I was like, "Okay, something better." But it quickly got autotune-ie again. I know a lot of K-Pop songs use autotune. Sometimes, it's okay. Sometimes, it's not. I don't really like the autotune used in this song. Enough talk about the autotune. I just don't really like the song itself. The girls' voices, it's beautiful, yes. I regonize that. Also, I don't like the rapping in this song. But, it's okay....WHAT'S TWINKLING IN THE SKY?! 5/10

(Track 008) Top Secret:

As soon as Taeyeon started singing (or am I wrong? I don't think so, I would remember my bias's voice...I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.) I had a feeling that this song would kind of be like "Hoot." I mean, the song is "Top Secret", of course I get a "spy" theme from it. I guess it's good, too, but not as catchy and excellent as the songs I had listened before. Don't get me wrong, you can totally hear the girls' wonderful vocals in this. But, I've heard better in the album. AND, I finally hear Hyoyeon's voice! Isn't that amazing!? I'm not offending Hyoyeon or anything, but SM doesn't let her sing a lot, and I hear her voice for the first time in the album! Please correct me, I'm pretty sure she had sung in the album in the songs above at least once, but I didn't hear her voice or anything. The only negative side effect is that it's autotuned...C'mon SM, c'mon! 7/10

(Track 009) Lazy Girl:

I've heard part of this song before, and it's a lively song, once again. From the first listen, I like this song, I really do. I like the "Lazy Girl" shouts, it's catchy. Sometimes my mom scolds me for not cleaning the room, I'm just, "'CAUSE I'M A LAZY GIRL!" She doesn't get it...Whatever. I really like it, and if you have purchased the album, and you have seen The Boys, you wouldn't've believed that this song is in the album. Of course any songs can be in the album, it doesn't really matter that if it fits the title song or not, but still. Just saying. 9/10

(Track 010) Sunflower:

The song's tempo is like "How Great is Your Love"'s. It's a relaxing listen. It removes all your stress, and because of the girls' soft voices in this song. It's very enjoying. I love it the most when the chorus kicks in. It's like love in first sight with this song. In this case, love in first listen. SM takes the time for the perfect part to put in what member's voice in that part (except I can't hear Hyoyeon's voice...:/), but it's an excellent listen. Listen to me, it'll be worth it. 9/10

(Track 011) Vitamin:

At the first insturmental (in the beginning) I just thought of a catwalk fashion show. I don't know why, but that's what I got in my brain. Then Taeyeon's voice kicks in (or is it?...Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks :D) and I have that cheery feeling again. I don't get why the song is called "Vitamin" however, I might just have to look up the english subtitles, but they do yell "V.I.T.A.M.I.N!" and they say "Vitamin" in the end. Sometimes, it's cheery, and sometimes it's slow either like "Sunflower" or "How Great is Your Love." Ask me: I enjoyed it!!! 71/2/10 (Seven and a half out of ten)

(Track 012) Mr. Taxi {Korean Version}:

We've heard "Mr. Taxi" before, it's the repackage of this album. But, this time: it's the Korean Version striking in. In my opinion, I would prefer the Japanese Version more, but you know it's my opinion, one person's opinion doesn't really matter. But well actually, if you listen to one version before, it gets catchy and it's just in you head forever, and when you listen to the other version, you just like the other version better. Kind of like in "Mr. Taxi"'s case. The song of course has a wonderful vibe to it. I like URHURHFASHCHISF in the beginning before the song starts. (Sorry, I don't know what I should've put there.) The "Anywhere" part is also good, too, and I like Sooyoung's solo shortly after that. Amazing song! The Korean Version is actually growing on me.... DON'T WANNA SAY GOODBYEEEEEEE!!!

Album in Review:

Overall, the album was excellent. Summing up, there was only about two songs that weren't really what I was looking for, but two songs out of twelve, isn't a lot, and I really enjoyed the album overall. I know I repeated a lot of words describing the songs, so I'm sorry about that, but I couldn't find any words else to describe the songs. (I repeated again...) I say that this album is worth your buy, and I would like to give a shoutout to EXOTIC_BROCCOLI Without him, I would've never bought this album without his help because it was my first album and I didn't know what to do. Thank you EXOTIC_BROCCOLI. He's very nice, and check out his blogs, they're mostly about EXO, but cool!!! Although I'm late in buying and in reviewing this album, please give me your opinions on this album and other thoughts. Any recommendations, suggestions, feedback? Which album should I buy next? Thank you for reading!!
I bought from GrapeMusicCD on eBay.
Album includes the following:
Tin can in which holds all the things in the album (in this album's case, it has a tin can, but different albums differ)
One disk of all K-Pop-The Boys goodness in there.
Ten cards (not photocards) with all of the members in princess outfits. (That was the theme.) There is also one group card included.
Unimportant SM ad panflip thing. Well, it's unimportant to me, but your thoughts will differinate from mine.
A very important random photocard. You can get one photocard from ten different ones. (SEARCH ON GOOGLE FOR PICTURES) OH MY GAWD, I GOT YOONA! (Well, I wanted the group one, but whatever! YOONA'S STILL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
And if you buy from GrapeMusicCD (which I recommend), you get these free mini-cards with IGAB group teaser pictures and Mr. Mr. teaser pictures on them as a free bonus. GOODIES!
I bought this album for $24.00 (plus shipping) and mine will come with a group poster and a random member poster (whic has yet to arrive.) It came in about two and a half weeks to three weeks, but overall if you add in the one-week email confirmation, it was about four weeks. Happy listening!
*Note: Since I bought the album so late, I was surprised it still came with a photocard. If you order elsewhere say Yes Asia, DVD Heaven,  ect. I am 90% certain that you won't get a photocard. To get a photocard, I really recommend GrapeMusicCD, but kpopmarket01 also sells it with a photocard.
