personality :: Soft features, pale complexion, innocent and curious eyes. When you first lay eyes on this girl, the persona ‘tragic beauty’ will immediately pop into your mind. Ran comes across as a very sweet girl, always smiling softly to those who have the time to visit her. The girl’s words and acts are pure and sincere too, but you can’t help but notice the pain glimmering in her eyes and the sadness in her words.
The girl is very sensitive. She is easily hurt and can cry like there’s no tomorrow. However, she doesn’t necessarily share her pain with the world. A natural introvert, she keeps everything to herself, not wishing to bother others with her pain. She keeps everything squeezes in her fragile heart and at one point, things just explodes. And when this happens, the girl will just cry and cry and refuse to eat her meds.
To her, every human will face death, and her fate is no different. It’s just that her death is closer. Long ago, she did have the will to survive but after an incident, things just went numb for her and she readily accepts her fate and end. Ran sees things in a pessimistic manner and to her, any day can be her last. It does not matter how her parents works hard and literally beg the doctor to cure her because this girl…Has long let go.
Despite her conditions, the girl is surprisingly very intelligent. She is also very observant too. However, she does not see her talents or positive traits as good ones because there are no use to them since her death is approaching, making her an insecure girl. She does not even trust herself and always questions her use of existence.
If there is one thing that she regrets, it would be not being able to contribute to the world. The girl has high conscientious manner and would love to do things that are right. Despite her conditions, she does wishes to do good for others, even if not many care for her. Her loving nature also comes out when it involves children. Her heart just breaks when she sees young children being admitted into the hospital because she herself knows what it feels like.

Though, you can never miss that hint of sadness in them. Ran also has extremely fair complexion, having British-Korean ethnicity in her as well as being sick for years. `lean on me background :: One 19th October 1989, Anna Sumner gave birth to fraternal twin daughters with Ran older by just 5 minutes. The family resided in London because of Ryu Myungshik's business there. At the age of 5, Ran was diagnosed with leukemia and was immediately hospitalized. Her days were up and down and finally when she was 11, the family decided to move back to Seoul, South Korea so that other family members can visit her. Also, Myungshik was called back to South Korea as he was elected as the new VP for the family's company. Their house is in Gangnam, Seoul but Ran herself has only been there for not more than 6 times. She spends her days in the hospital, even until now.

For her children, she dropped everything and came to Korea. Anna and Ran share the same pain in their eyes. Even though Anna is constantly saying soothing words and believes that Ran will someday recover, deep down, she knows that her daughter will leave her.
Younger Twin Sister // Autumn Dahlia - Ryu Gaeul // 23 // Businesswoman, Heiress in training // Cold, Ignorant, Tired, Sarcastic // 3 // Ever since they were small, Ran had more of their parents' attention due to her condition. This makes Gaeul jealous of Ran. She is always seen cold and treats her older sister harshly. She has this 'Don't pity yourself' kind of attitude towards Ran. She is tired of not getting enough love yet is forced to carry on the responsibility of the next heiress. However, Ran knows that Gaeul loves her and the feeling is mutual. Ran treats Gaeul in a sweet manner and has always been use to her cold one towards her.
Youngest brother // Adam Rayyan - Ryu Taehyun // 8 // Student // Energetic, Innocent, Playful, Curious // 4 // When Taehyun (or hyunnie) was born, Ran was already in the hospital and so she missed out on his birth. Being hospitalized, she also missed out a big part of her baby years but Anna always found the time to visit Ran with her new baby boy. Despite living under one roof with Gaeul, her cold attitude frightens him and he likes Ran better. But he does love both of his sisters. He always requests to visit Ran in the hospital and there, he will tell her about his days at school, all happy and cheerful, making Ran happy and at ease, a bit. Taehyun is too young to understand what leukemia is and so Ran just explains to him that she is 'very, very sick,'

They have the same sickness, likes and dislikes and also, their thought on life. The two share a lot together and were very happy to have each other as company. However, when both were 18, Naeun lost the battle and went away for ever, living Ran feeling defeated and numb // They met when both were 13, Naeun has been newly diagnosed with leakemia and needed to be hospitalized. They share the same doctor and he introduced them to each other. The rest, is history.

Myungsoo always gives hope to Ran to never give up and says that she will survive. //When Naeun was hospitalized, she had this special friend who visited her everyday. Naturally, Myungsoo also became friends with Ran and he even taught her how to play the guitar. Ran witnessed how Myungsoo cared and loved Naeun but he never did speak out his feelings towards her, not even when death came knocking. When Naeun died, Myungsoo stopped visiting because everything just hurted him. But after a few months, he came back and visit Ran. Even though not as much as before, but he still makes an effort to.

She'd bring her favourite story book and asks Ran to read it for her until she falls asleep. Jaemin's parents always find their daughter in Ran's room, much to their dismay. But Ran doesn't mind, she loves it even. Jaemin and Taehyun share a tom-jerry like relationship too. // Jaemin is also a leakemia patient but it seems that her conditions are better. The girl was afraid at first but Ran finds the courage to calm her down and says that everything's going to be find. Since then, the two became sisters.

Oh, where should we start with this one? Byun Baekhyun is a warm and friendly guy. He gives off this happy vibe that will either make people like him or find him downright annoying. He is also very optimistic, believing that every sickness has its cure. You can call him overly-hyped too, because this boy is an extrovert that never sleeps. Baekhyun also lives up the mood with his stupid jokes and teases. However, he does know where the line is and never crosses it on purpose.
Beneath all the happy acts is actually a very smart boy, both book-smarts and street-smarts. He is very observant too and knows which buttons to push. He reads others like an open book and he has a gift of cheering people up. Also, the boy can be extremely childish too. He’ll pout when his questions are left unanswered and he’ll nag the heck out of someone when they do not listen to him too. Lastly, caring is most definitely one of his valuable traits. He doesn’t get attach easily though when he does, it’ll be very hard to let go. The boy is a mix of many things, but one things is for sure : Byun Baekhyun is a man with a golden heart.
what do you like/ love about him :: A gush of wind, a new hope knocking. These are the perfect ways to describe what he’s like to Ran. There she is, all numb and ready ti meet death but as soon as she sees him, a little light of hope shine in his eyes and that makes Ran feels uncertain yet intrigued by the boy. Many keep saying how there is still hope and that she can be cured but she has stop believing. But when Baekhyun says so, Ran somehow believes in him. She can hear the honesty and sincerity in his voice; it is as if he knows that she will get better. Those are just his words. His personality grabs Ran's attention even more. She likes how he’s all happy and fun in front of her. He reminds her of Taehyun’s innocence. The way he talks to her, he just sounds so sincere, no fakeness at all. She also loves his stupid and random jokes, especially his ‘kkaepsong’. Ran never did have a checklist to tick on boyfriend material but may be now, she has one. And Byun Baekhyun ticks off every single box. And his looks, don’t even get her started on that part. interactions ::
Ran appears closer and more open to Baekhyun than anyone else (besides her doctor, families and friends of course). She enjoys his company and her eyes perk up whenever she sees him coming through that white door. He’s asks her the normal questions a doctor would ask in bored tune and as soon as everything’s finish, he’ll sit down and talk to her. They talk about everything and anything really. Most of the time, Baekhyun is the one leading the conversation because Ran just loves listening to his voice. Even though she’s more open towards, she has not completely let herself go yet. There is still this side of her that thinks about her death and how she should not make new bonds with others, no matter how she likes/loves them.
At times, Baekhyun will secretly bring Ran outside to let her breath in fresh air. He sometimes also sings to her, making Ran fall in love with his voice too. From the first day they met, Ran seems to have a new thing to look forward to, and that is his arrival and visit. As the time goes by, they get closer, even to the point of him kissing her on the forehead, wishing her goodnight. Baekhyun is truly the unannounced ray of light in Ran’s dark world, someone who she acknowledges and cares for her. Many wishes for her recovery but with Baekhyun, he just knows that she’ll recover. And she dares to believe that too.
how you met :: In the hospital. Baekhyun is a new doctor and is specially assigned to Ran. He is also Ran's doctor's much younger (and crazier) brother. (Ah, the doctor's name is Byun Baekbeom)

your feelings about love :: My thoughts on love? Well, I’m not exactly the perfect person to describe this feeling but then again, why not? To me, true love means seeing forever with that one special person. You will see yourself having a future with him. How many children you’d have, where you would live, where you would go on your honeymoon. True love will make thinks of these things, and if you’re happy with what you see, than go for it.
To love means to embrace what the other has as flaws. You’re not going to fall in love with your with your ideal man because he will never exist. To fall in love is to accept your partner’s weird habits, negative traits and random doings. When you find yourself liking his quirks, then that is love my dear. Need me to remind you that a happy ending does not mean that there will not be ups and downs. Oh, I’m sure there will be. To be in love is to not be afraid to point out each other’s mistakes. If you truly love him, then you will want what’s best for him. Don’t mistake this as changing him, because it’s not. And don’t be mad when he does the same to you, because he’ll only do so if he thinks you guys are close enough to each other.
To be happy in love is beautiful dream. To be sad is a given. However, you are allowed to be angry. In the end, we are all humans, and humans have emotions.
