On a Questionnaire Frenzy... Self-Reflection Questionnaire~

[ 1 ] How many fics have you started? (No matter how few it is, you can give yourself a pat on the back for demonstrating initiative.)

I have many, many, many fanfictions. They range from One Direction (don't judge) to Shinhwa to EXO to Sword Art Online... I've done everything. I even have fanfictions based on my friends' relationships and books like Eleanor & Park. Possibly around... 60 or 70?

[ 2 ] How many fics have you completed? (Now, if it’s greater than zero, you can give yourself another pat on the back for demonstrating commitment.)

I have completed a lot. Many of them are extremely short, so it was easy. However, on AsianFanFics, I have only one completed, and its a Oneshot. To be honest, I lack a sense of commitment to them and I feel really bad. But I completed most of the first few ones I wrote.

[ 3 ] What is your very first fic? What inspired and motivated you to write it? How do you feel and what do you think about it now?

My very first fan-fiction was a story called "Road of Pale Blue Light" (don't laugh) and it was based on a film called "Howl's Moving Castle." I was terribly infatuated with Howl and Sophie's love story, and BAM! Fanfiction was born. When I reread it, I feel like as a writer I have definitely grown and I feel proud of myself. I think it's really childish now, but at the same time I feel nostalgic.

[ 4 ] Which fic of yours do you think is the most well written? Why?

I guess "Altacia" and "Your Blood on My Sword" my current fics are pretty well-written because I like the storyline and the sentence structure, but if I look back, I would choose this fic called "That Blue Jalopy." It was a Harry Styles fanfiction, and the setting was in 1982. I feel like I captured the mood of the time very well, and I love the character interactions and the moments that happen inside it.

[ 5 ] Which fic of yours do you think is the most poorly written? Why?

Erm... Definitely "Nothing." I love love love Sehun, but I just feel like it is too much of a monologue. I might take it down, but I'll keep it up for now. I was in a rush to complete it and I loved the storyline, but I just couldn't add "angst." Guess angst isn't my best genre.

[ 6 ] Which fic is your favorite out of the ones you’ve written? Why?

I'll give you some insight now. This is pretty juicy stuff. My favorite fic is the spin-off I am writing for Story of So. It is titled "Ignis: Story of Ahn," and I absolutely love it. I'm not going to say anything, other than the fact that it is kind of a sequel to Story of So, but I like it more and I don't know if I will be able to post it or not. I love the relationship in the story, the obstacles, and especially the ending.

[ 7 ] Which fic is your least favorite out of the ones you’ve written? Why?

I think it would be "Toel Ul EXO: Story of So." To be honest, that was my first EXO fanfic, and when I look back at the earlier chapters I cringe. I mean, "dazzling" and "the most beautiful ulzzang" please tell me it doesn't sound as bad as it does OMG

[ 8 ] Which character that you’ve written (does not have to be an OC; can be your portrayal of an idol) do you believe most closely resembles you?

There's this story I am currently writing, and I think Seulgi best resembles me. I guess it's because the fic is based mostly on my actual life, and I just used idols as symbols of the actual people in them. The fic will be out soon, hopefully ^^

[ 9 ] What are the most common topics and themes that dominate your stories?

Most stories are cliche love stories, with some nostalgia and humor mixed in. I guess it's because those are the kinds of stories I enjoy reading. I also do a little supernatural and historical.

[ 10 ] What do you think are your strengths when it comes to writing? Be specific.

I guess my strengths are coming with ideas and my wording maybe. Sometimes I would dream of fic ideas and bounce out of bed to write them down or type them at the break of dawn, or I'm sitting at Starbucks waiting for my drink and all of sudden I get an idea. They come naturally. I also feel like the way I use my words is okay too, but I'm not so sure.

[ 11 ] What do you think are your weaknesses when it comes to writing? Be specific.

I think my weaknesses in writing are staying committed to the stories I write and finding the time to write them. I literally have no time. I juggle school, swimming, family, writing, and a bunch of other miscellaneous things every day. There are sometimes art events, tests, blah blah blah, and I also have a huge case of procrastination to top it off. I am growing lines on my forehead from all the stress O_O

[ 12 ] In what ways do you think you have improved since you first began writing fan fiction?

Since I began writing fanfiction, I have improved quite a lot in English the subject. I was always good at English, but after I began writing I started to nurture a spark of imagination and creativity that wasn't there before, and have since began to excel in the arts as well as literature and language. To be honest, I began writing fanfictions when I was in fifth grade or so. In fourth grade, my English teacher told me that I could become a writer and encouraged me to try my hand at it. I first began writing stories, and later they developed into stories based on other people's characters and storylines, a genre that later became known as fanfiction.

[ 13 ] In what ways do you think your writing reflects you?

I think writing gives me a sense of sophistication, and a voice that I don't really have when I'm just speaking or participating in a discussion. Writing shows who I really am and helps me a shape the kind of person I want to be.

[ 14 ] Why do you write?

I write because it is a form of self-release and stress-reliever, as well as a way to express my views and to entertain people. I see all these writers on websites and writers of novels, and I always get inspired to write and to create something just as beautiful as the things I've read. I want others to experience the emotions I experienced when reading them; I want to recreate something awesome through my writing and bring forth a story worth reading.

[ 15 ] How do you evaluate yourself as a writer? How do you define your success a writer?

If I were to evaluate myself, I would say that I am not really that good of writer. I lack in a lot of categories and my strong points are quite minor. However, I feel like I can write a good read as long as there's passion and a intriguing storyline. Success for me is just having people support me and my writing, and being able to write a good story. I wouldn't say that I'm a successful writer, not yet, but I hope to become one this year.

[ 16 ] What do you think it means to be a writer?

To be a writer is to express yourself in a way that will make the readers feel something, whether it's good or bad. I feel like writing is a way to present yourself in a light that you can't when just being yourself and talking. Being a writer means taking on responsibilites and being a novice; you have to work, strive, and improve to become better. Being a writer also means being an artist. An artist uses a public form to express ideas and opinions they have, and that is the goal of a writer as well. Being a writer is more than just giving a story.
