» PERSONALITY

Before her trainee life, she was a loner,nerd and super immersed in studying. She had no friends aside from her books and barely talked to anyone except answering the teachers' questions. Her father barely talked to her because of his business and the housekeeper didn't have the interest in talking to her as well. She grew up pretty lonely and cautious to those around her, making sure to not let anybody know about her background. Her immersion in studies allowed her to be the teacher's favorite and she is often hated because of it. 

During her trainee life, she decided that this could be the best time to establish her new self, so she gave her quiet personality a makeover and became someone fun and bubbly to those at SM. Trainees didn't see her as someone hardworking because she often came late for practice (because of finishing her schoolwork first), they easily became friends with her because they didn't see her as threat judging that she always came last in monthly evaluations.

She has a strong desire to help others at the expense of her own pleasure. Soo Jin has the heart of gold. She is the female version of all the Mr. Nice Guys out there. Always helping out when anyone needs her, or even when they don't, she just likes to offer help. Bascially the "Yes Man", she can hardly refuse someone when they ask for help. For that, she gives herself minimal attention to help or please others. Often is she manipulated by the people she helps because they think she will be always there to help them. Technically she is, but it makes others take her for granted. She once rejected someone when they asked for help and they immediately thought ill of her, saying she only thinks about herself. She is humble and doesn't know much about herself, often undermining her confidence about her own abilities. She doesn't feel that she has accomplished anything in her life. With that said, she feels there isn't a need for her to stand out. 

Soo Jin is a down to earth person. She is also carefree and cheerful with people. She can be quick to anger, but she never ever holds a grudge because she finds it too tiring and troublesome to hate someone. Although she is boyish, she still respects everyone she meets. Bowing or greeting when she sees people, she believes that respect is important. She is basically laid back when she is with people at SM. This is how she acts with others now, compared to the quiet loner she was during her time at school.

Maybe it is because of her sudden gain of friends, she is extremely loyal to them. Soo Jin will stand up for them even if it means getting herself into trouble. Her heightened sense of loyalty makes it easy for people to use her whenever they like. However, this trait of hers has allowed many to entrust her with their secrets. is zipped and will never leak. She is good at keeping secrets because she is secretive about her background and family. She hates it when people worry about her, so the only problems that are coming out of are the problems that she knows can be solved easily, distracting others so that they won't see deeper problems about her.

Ever since she was young, Soo Jin was easily affected by other's opinions about her. She doesn't really know what works for her or not, she just looks at the current fashion trend and copies. If someone tells her that she doesn't look good in an outfit, she will change what she is wearing the next event, so as to match people's opinions. She has low self confidence as well. She only knows how to study before she came to SM, after that she seemed to be at the bottom at everything at the monthly evaluations, it lowered her confidence about her abilities. However, wanting to prove herself to her dad and her friends' encouragements made her strive harder for her goal.

From time to time, Soo Jin can return to her nerd self, it happens when she is super stressed and tired. Normally, she would be the one encouraging the members, but when she is stressed, she becomes quiet and unsociable. It's best to leave her alone at this time because she won't really say anything to people and can even be critical with her words. She reverts back to the person they know when she has had a good rest or a nice cup of tea.

Her personality being the "Alluring Seraph" is supposed to be charming, flirtatious and witty. Granted charming and witty she can do very good, but flirtatious is definitely out of the question. She isn't comfortable being all flirty with people and she can be awkward at this trait. Her persona makes her be gracious on stage and good at giving compliments. Sometimes she shows them her ability to make witty remaks too, making her wanted at variety shows. She gives it her best on stage and does a lot of fanservice because without the people who are supporting her, she is nothing.

» BACKGROUND

Born in May 11, 1993, Soo Jin lived in an unhappy household. Her parents divorced at an early age and she lived with her father. His father is a realistic businessman who focused on his work more than he knew his daughter. They had a maid at home to take care of her, but the maid didn't talk to her that much. Ever since she was young, she was educated to never tell anyone about her background. Her father feared that it would cause harm to her if others knew they were rich, her father feared that she would be kidnapped or worse. She was mostly isolated at school too. She never really stood out to people because she mostly focused on her studies, in her own little world. She got good grades and was always praised by teachers. As much as she wanted to be friends with everyone, she just didn't have the courage to break out of her shell and take the initiative to befriend someone, that is why she was a loner at school.

One week, she saw the posters for an SM audition and tried out, mainly because she finally found her chance to break free from her quiet world and try something new. She was 13 that time.To her surprise, she passed the auditions and became a trainee to which she kept a secret from her dad. She had the potential to train for the main vocal or main dancer role, just that SM never really favored her. First, she came late to practices because she insisted on coming after she had finished her homework or studying for the day. Second, she didn't stand out to them at anything compared to the other trainees. Third, she always ranked in the bottom three for monthly evaluation. So, SM thought she didn't really want to pursue her career as a singer/idol. It wasn't that she didn't train hard or was slacking off, she wanted to do her best in studying so that her dad doesn't look down on her. When Soo Jin got into SM, she decided that it was her chance to change her persona. She became more talkative and friendly, befriending a lot of those around her.

Her father eventually found out of her trainee life at SM when she was age 17 and highly opposed of it, telling her to quit. But she refused to and had a row with her father. Despite living under the same roof, they didn't talk to each after the flight and  her father often ignored her existance completely when he saw her. She then trained harder to show to her dad that there was nothing wrong with being an artist. Her skills at dancing and singing were still the same. However, SM trained her in various fields, such as acting, variety and language. Three of which she stood out at. Her acting skills allowed her to star minor roles at highly requested dramas such as "The Moon that Embraces the Sun", "Secret Garden" and "I Can Hear Your Voice", she could hae gotten major roles if SM hadn't declined the offers from small broadcasting stations. She is good at learning new languages, but bad writing them out. Her language ability is only restricted to conversations, she can be very fluent at talking, but might not be able to write out the right words (for example in Chinese).

» ABOUT

He comes off as the goofy and cheerful leader of Shinee. Once the camera is not in sight, he is more of a quiet person who likes to sleep and watch TV in the dorm. He is incredibly polite and respectful to every person he meets, bowing everytime he sees them. He can be quite clumsy and seldom trips or hurts himself accidentally. The "Onew Condition" is real though. His accidents aren't deliberate. He sometimes just comments at the wrong time and makes the atmosphere drop below freezing. However, there are times he can also be funny. He is always thinking of jokes (lame) and punchlines to make others crack up and smile. 

He is caring and a good listener. Being the eldest in Shinee, he feels he has the burden to take care of his dongsaengs and lead them well. They all come to him for advice and talk to him, he just listens and gently leads them without forcing them to make rash decisions. Because of the burden of being a leader, he rarely opened up about his own feelings before, not wanting to disturb others. But now, he sometimes talks to s and asks them for advice. 

He is the type of person who hides his pain and problems for he doesn't want to burden others. He usually puts a big smile on his face to cover up.

» INTERACTIONS

Soo Jin and Onew are really close. Ever since they met each other at the filming, they exchanged numbers and talk to each other a lot, mainly about random things. The two of them joke around a lot and treat each other like family. They often makes lame jokes and have competitions to see who could make the atmosphere most awkward. Soo Jin is comfortable with doing physical contact with him like play biting or holding hands because she is good friends with Lee Jong Suk who is basically a skinship king. Onew at first feels very shy, and still does feel shy when she does it. However, he later initiates skinship and it surprises her.

Onew is basically friendzoned by Soo Jin. She isn't really experienced in love, only dating once in her life and having her heartbroken. Onew was there to help her through it. Onew is the best friend she ever had because he is sincere and kind. They even exchanged secrets that they never told anyone, showing how much they trust each other. She told him about her family and everything and he told him about his problems. They give support to each other, knowing that they will be there for each other whatever the matter.

Onew is one of the incredibly few people to be able to stand Soo Jin when she is stressed. He knows she doesn't mean it when she is being critical and gives her just the right amount of space for her to cool down, he is also there when she needs someone to cuddle with or have a cup of tea with. Soo Jin knows when Onew is fibbing to cover up his problems. She gets him to open up to her gently and he spills everything knowing that it is her.
