Tao Oneshot: SanTao Claus

"Tao... Do you believe in Santa Claus?" you asked randomly as you and your boyfriend watched ELF in his apartment.

"Santa... I used to. But then I grew up and stopped believing that some fat man in a red suit could bring presents and miracles."

"Jeez, no need to be so bitter about it." you pouted.

"Why? Do you believe in Santa?"

"Hmm..." you pondered over the question while tilting your head to the side. "Yes."

"You do? What are you, five?" he laughed, which made you mad.

"What's so wrong in that?"

"Only children believe in such ridiculous things." he continued to laugh at you.

"Well, the minute you stop believing in Santa and Christmas miracles, the less cherishable the holidays become." you shoved his arm of your shoulders and stood up from the couch.

"Where are you going?" he asked as you were putting on your shoes and coat.

"Out." was all you said before closing the door behind you.

It was cold outside and snow was lightly coming down from the dark night sky. You strolled down the sidewalk, watching your breath float into the air and disappear. You weren't really thinking about anything, you were just walking. The feeling of your nose and cheeks being nipped by the cold felt nice with your hands stuffed in your warm pockets.

You were always the cheerful type during the holidays, and Tao thought it was silly. Whenever you'd sing out loud to a Christmas carol or get excited over an old Christmas movie he'd compare you to a child and just go along with it. He was right, you were like a child when it came to the holidays. Christmas cheer was one thing you refused to lack this time of years.

The sight of a man in a red suit made you perk up and observe him sitting on a bench. Obviously he wasn't the real Santa, but one that just stood in front of stores and collected money for charity. He was a nice looking elder man with twinkling eyes. As you passed by he called out to you and you turned to him slowly.

"You look down. What is there to be sad about this time of year?" he asked you.

You just let out a sigh. "My boyfriend." you sat beside him with a chuckle. "Doesn't believe in Santa or Christmas miracles."

"He doesn't? He sounds like a Grinch."

You laughed at his comment. "He kind of is. I'm always happy during the holidays and he's such a wet blanket. Growing up my parents always made sure we were happy this time of year. We'd go all out on decorations and listen to Christmas carols until we knew them all like the back of our hands. We'd bake cookies and have a huge Christmas party and invite all of our friends and family. I have so many good memories of Christmas." you smiled nostalgically.

"How did you end up dating a Grinch?"

You ended up laughing again. "I understand where he is coming from though. I know Santa doesn't exist. It's just the thought and hope of some miracle that brings warmth to my heart. Like seeing kids with bright eyes on Christmas morning, thinking that some stranger with a kind heart brought them gifts. It's precious. I like the feeling it brings."

"You're one special girl. Your boyfriend is crazy to think that your intentions are childish."

"I bet he's feeling guilty right now. I just up and left him in the middle of a movie."

"Let him be guilty. Maybe he'll end up buying you an extra special gift in apology."

The two of you laughed and you saw the old mans eyes twinkle. "It was very nice meeting you..." you didn't know his name.

"Santa. Just call me Santa." he smiled.

"Ok. Thanks Santa."

"You have a very Merry Christmas." he wished you. You two waved to each other before parting ways.

The old man walked down the path on his way home before running into a tall boy with blonde hair with a small box in his hands.

"Hello." he bowed quickly, slightly out of breath. "Did you see a girl here? About this tall. White coat. Most adorable thing you've ever seen?" he described.

The old man looked up and down at the boy. "You're her Grinchy boyfriend?"

"Huh?"

The old man took his red and white coat off and hat and handed it to the boy. "Go after her. She'd really enjoy a Christmas miracle."

Tao took off his coat and exchanged it for the Santa get up. "Thank you..."

"Santa. Just call me Santa." he smiled with twinkling eyes before heading off. Tao just watched him curiously before slipping on the coat and running off to find you. Once you came in sight he called out your name until you turned around. Your face brightened at the sight of him in a Santa coat and hat.

"_____. I'm sorry."

"It's fine." you giggled at him. "Where did you get this?"

"That old man gave it to me."

"You mean Santa?"

He hesitated before replying, "Yes. Santa gave this to me, so I could cheer you up. I also brought you this." he lifted up a small box. "I was going to give it to you on Christmas, but I pissed you off and thought now was the perfect time."

You took it curiously and lifted the lid off of the box. "What's this?" you pulled out a small key.

"An extra key to my apartment."

"Why...?"

"I think it's about time you move in, right?"

You didn't know what to say so you just wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him. "I love you SanTao Claus."

He chuckled in amusemnet as he wrapped his arms around you. "I love you too. Then one day you can be my Mrs. Claus."

"One step at a time. One step at a time."
