Shingeki no Kyojin ;A;
The title is pretty self-explanatory, buuuuuuuuuuuut I just need to let all my SnK and Levi feels out. ;A; I couldn't concentrate during school because my mind always wandered off to SnK and Levi and I began grinning like an idiot.
I'm super late to finally start watching SnK, I know, but real life and AFF kept me busy and I didn't find the idea to be very appealing at first. When I watched the first episode on Saturday though, everything changed (lol). The anime is freaking A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Yep, I've watched all 23 episodes that are out so far within two days (and I even went out one night and had to sleep over at my bestie's house because it was too late to take the tram home and even wrote a long chapter). That basically means that aside from some normal stuff, I ONLY watched Shingeki no Kyojin.
Why? Because the anime is truly captivating. It's been a while since I watched so many episodes of one anime in one sitting (the last was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) and I even have to say that so far it has beaten all animes I've watched so far. I like how it doesn't just use the typical repetitive plot line with the good and the bad and the never ending fights. Rather than that, it has one goal - to destroy the Titans and to save the humans.
The reason I like it so much - even love it - is because I think only when there's true cruelty, there can be true beauty. And SnK has one of the cruelest ideas ever. It is not so incomprehensible like Hunger Games where people enjoy watching children kill each other (I love that book series, but that one point is seriously weird). And it's not like many other animes where super powers and/or magic seem to tone down the cruelty we perceive in it. Those people in the anime are just like us - without any kind of super power and stuff - and it makes them so vulnerable. And this is why it's easy to empathise with them. There's no good and bad either because the main factor - the main issue - doesn't build on any "I want to kill people because I'm evil" antagonist, but on the simple and comprehensible food chain. The Titans eat humans. They don't kill them for the thrill or because they're evil. They only want to eat them.
The characters are really wonderful as well. I like everyone because they all develop so nicely (especially Jean). They have to deal with fear and don't just go around slauntering the Titans. First, they all had to learn to overcome the fear and then deal with them. They underwent training. It's all so comprehensible which is a huge plus for me. Even with all the action, the character's feelings, problems are never forgotten.
The fact that they show almost every single death in detail (even from not so important characters) makes the life-death situation seem much more real in comparison to many other animes. Every single death still has me tremble a bit (I'm quite sensitive when it comes to such bloody scenes), but the way the characters learn to process the deaths helps me also process the deaths.
Due to the cruel situation, I feel that the friendships are a lot deeper and that the characters are forced to be more realistic as well. I like that a lot.
The many deaths had me pause for a second and just thank the world that I am still alive (I'm serious). It's painful to know that almost everyone will die and you can only wait for the moment. Never has an anime left such a cruel impression on me. There were many moments I wanted to look away (when the Titans crush heads and bodies etc.) or when I really screamed, shouted or groaned or just wanted to cry, feeling the characters' pain.
Gosh, call me crazy. But whenever I watch an amazing anime, it's as if I myself am living the anime. I love it.
And goddammit, Levi. That guy. . Well, hey there, new bias. As for him I have a little message to you:
I'm okay with sharing, but, guys, if you're not, I'm ready to fight against you to death because LEVI IS MIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!
(LOL. I'm joking. If you are Levi bias you are very welcome to fangirl with me)
He's so short but amazingly strong and precise and cool and clean freak and just awesome and kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! ;A; I really have something for those characters who seem rather stoic and cold on the outside but are so akdjhhfsdhf kind. /creys/ I died when he pushed Mikasa away from the female Titan and hurt his foot saved her. I seriously died from feels. Such a kind akdjfhjkshs , like why???
Even aside from him, I seriously love the whole cast! But Levi is just, ugh, damn you amazing human.
Warning: Don't you fcking think about giving any spoilers regarding the plot because I haven't read the manga and only watched the anime (or imma kil you, lol). I'm thinking of reading the manga, but in this case I really prefer the anime (especially since the 3D maneuver looks like 1000 x cooler in anime form). I skimmed through the first 10 chapters, and honestly, I don't like the pacing in the manga. It's a tad too fast for my taste. And some scenes come out more emotional in the anime which I prefer.
Anyways, I haven't done any homework yet, but I am too tired (I'll do it tomorrow in my free period). Parts of this post will also be posted on my tumblr blog, so don't be confused.
BTW I ING CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISDE /SCREAMS/ (I LIKED ANNIE SO MUCH BUT THEN THIS HAPPENED AND TOTALLY CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD).
ANYONE ELSE FEELING MY IMMENSE LOVE FOR SNK???? COOOOOOOME MY LOVELIES AND LET'S CRY TOGETHER AS WE WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE.
