Hi! So this is my first blog post ever and it’s mostly just to rant and ask a question.

So today while shopping I got invited to do a beauty pageant. While I usually have no interest in things like this I’m actually considering it.

They told me they would wave my fee for joining. I didn’t think things like that could happen. This one also seems to have a complete different meaning than look pretty and smile. It’s supposed to help promote self esteem for young teenage girls. I strongly feel like people should promote this, but I also never thought about joining a beauty pageant to promote it. In the end you’re still being judged for who you are whether it’s about looks or personality.

The first thing the lady told me was that half my score was based off of an interview. The judges would score me based on my ability to communicate answers in a thoughtful way. The other two categories are a casual wear and formal wear. There is no swim suit section (Thank whatever god there is). I’m not sure if that is unusual for a pageant, but from what I have seen its pretty unique.

When I told her I would be interested she took my name down, but laughed. Apparently I was already in consideration for it. Someone had already recommended me to the admissions for it. I’m not sure who, but I really want to know.

I would hate to be that person who does something just for the prize money, but the prize money is $5,000 plus a chance to continue on in the national competition in Florida. I’m not sure I could win considering I have never been in anything like this before.

So my questions are many, but I will only ask you a few.

Do you think I should do it? Why or why not?

Is it honestly worthwhile to participate in this?

Will this really promote self esteem or do you think that’s a fake thing they’re promoting?
