Background: Saerun was born and raised in New York City. His mother was American and his father was Korean. Sareun's father Yoo Jungkwon was a very, very strict man. He'd always want him to do and be the very best. For example if Sareun got a C on his report card? Oh that wasn't good enough. He had to get all straight A's no matter what. Sareun's mother on the other hand was the exact opposite of his father: She just wanted him to do the best he can and he shouldn't be afraid of failure, even though sometimes he was because of how his father treated him. After Sareun graduated high school, he wanted to further his career as a dancer and rapper. Jungkwon was against his son's dream. He thought dancing and rapping were a 'waste of talent' and 'wouldn't get him anywhere in life' but Saerun wanted to prove him wrong. That's why he wants to be an idol, to prove that he can make it and show his father he was talented.
