Sho's Diary - Chapter 9 - The Birthdays and New Roles

It's good to be back writing my blog and it has been such a busy year with my life as a university student which I always wanted to do but it has been a very eventful for me during the year since I faced many challenges and problems but like a true winner, I always succeed in my own way and also made a change in accepting a couple of things in life whether it be my lifestyle change or change in a job role.

It all started on Monday 24th June, which was known as my 24th birthday and like always, my parents wished me after nidnight, my brother suddenly rushes out to hug me and my sister gives me birthday beats (which I think no one does that anymore lol). It was in the morning, I had a phone call from a company about my application as a temp in the office for 2 weeks since I need to get an experience in working in an office which would give me the credibility as a worker. Even though it's two weeks and temporary, I can still get work and bit of experience out of it and hopefully I am patiently waiting for a call back for the next interview. After a few hours, I got another job opportunity from my mentoring place in applying for a job as an Administrator which they posted a job description and in return I emailed them about my interest in the job since it has good pay and will allow me to apply since I am qualified in administration and IT and in need for a job experience which is the main reason that holds me back from getting a good job despite having good skills. I filled out the application form and hopefully get a job from there too just in case the other job doesn't work out.

Like every year, I either go out for a birthday meal with family or friends or just simply have one at home but on that day, I had to keep a fast since there are 15 days left till Ramadan begins and strangely, I never felt tired or sick during the day but after 7pm, I started to feel hungry so my mum decided to order takeaway instead and I broke my fast at 9.30pm which is when the prayer of sunset begins. The meal was really good and satisfying and I would recommend anyone to try the Peri Peri chicken which is really tasty and delicious.

Another thing that happened was that my aunt (by marriage) was expecting twins and was recently having difficulties physically so she had to go to the hospital to get a C-section operation done 2 months before her delivery date. She currently has three sons and finally she gave birth to twin girls on 24th June and now share the same birthday with me lol. But at the moment, my sweet aunt is resting at the hospital along with my twin cousins since three of them aren't in the best condition, so hopefully I'm praying that three of them get a good rest and get well soon.

And now today, I went to my workplace in The GreenHouse where I went through 6 weeks of training to become a mentor for young children and teenagers. Everyone were all given a couple of statements to sign our commitment to the mentoring program. I've signed the papers needed and all of us were being called one by one by a different staff member to discuss what role offer we are getting. After that it was my turn to be called in and went over to one of the mentoring rooms to know about the role. To my surprise, I actually got the role offer as a Mentor for children who are school-based and I was happy that after 6 hardworking weeks of training has finally paid off and now I'm gonna receive a voluntary pack and also sign a DBS form for data protection so that I can be matched up with a young mentee and meet the supervisor and the mentee's parents to the program started.
