                                                        The Juicy Stuff.

personality:

Lien-Hua is very much spontaneous and bold. She doesn't really mind where she is or who is around her--she is going to act like herself. If she wants to have fun, she will. She is very much energetic and exciting. She'll jump ontop of a table and dance to her favorite song, and hula hoop in public. She isn't afraid to enjoy life--even if that means that she will be looked upon as being weird or crazy. She only has one life to live, so why not make it fun and exciting while she is alive? She isn't afraid to say what is on her mind, nor is she afraid to tell you how she feels. She isn't trying to be mean--she's far from it, but she just feels that she has to say what is on her mind at the moment. Her friends note that they'd never be able to do half of the stuff she does because they are somewhat insecure, but Lien-Hua most definitely isn't. It's not like she is conceited or anything--it's just that she feels as though if someone likes her, they do, if they don't, they don't. Plain and simple. She doesn't mind what others have to say about her because they do not validate the type of person that she is.

Lien-Hua is definitely a choco-holic, and she admits that. She always (and I mean always) has to have chocolates in the morning or in order for her to function. Chocolates, to her, is like her alcohol and without it, she is a wreck. She knows basically all the chocolates there is out there and can spot a piece of chocolate a mile away. She carries a secret stash of chocolates around with her. She doesn't hesitate to share anything with her friends BUT her chocolates. She immediately gets on the defense if someone asks her for them. She'll immediately hold the chocolates to her chest in a defensive manner, then she'll yell, "No, uh uh, no way! Not MY chocolates. You can have anything else--my money is in my room on the dresser, my jewelry you can have...take my shoes, but NOT my chocolates!" Then she'll run to the nearest room, lock herself in, and then eat her chocolates in peace. She won't come out until it is clear. For this, her friends pick on her and ask for her chocolates whenever they want a reaction out of her. She knows this, but at the same time, she cannot help but run wildly until she is sure that she has her chocolates to herself.

Lien-Hua is very dramatic and funny. She is a prankster at heart and always has the need to prank her friends and even strangers. She believes that her pranks are very small and shouldn't cause a lot of fuss, but for some reason people get upset with her when she does them. It doesn't matter, though. She just likes to get a reaction out of her friends (since she is mainly the subject of her friends' pranks as well). She also has a bad habit of pranking her parents and some authority figures as well. Even her old high school teachers and principal weren't safe from her pranking. She loves to laugh and play around too much at times. Being the dramatic one that she is, Lien-Hua is sometimes just a little extra. Most people would just trip and fall - plain and simple. They'd get up and get over it. But not her. Nope. If she falls, she twists her body in a strange way, grips her hair, and rolls constantly to shield her hair from connecting with the ground. By doing this, she causes unnecessary attention. But, her friends get a good laugh from her. Her friends joke, "Gosh, Lin Lin, we can't take you anywhere!" but they are never embarrassed by her because she just brings about a fun spirited vibe. There is never a dull moment when around Lien-Hua. She is just always having fun and pulls others into her creativeness.

She definitely has flaws when it comes to her because no one is perfect. She is somewhat stubborn and hates admiting defeat because when she is wrong, she still has a hard time apologizing because she doesn't want to give anyone the satisfaction that they want. She is very sarcastic and mimics others when they are talking because if she doesn't want to listen to it, then she won't. Plain and simple. She is somewhat hard-headed and has to be told more than once to stop doing something (only to do it again). She also doesn't really like to be touched by people that she doesn't know or like and she definitely has a really bad temper. However, she tries not to stray that way. She tries to remain positive and friendly, but everyone has a rough side to them. She, too, doesn't focus in school as she is supposed to do - as her eldest brother used to coach her about, as her mother scolded her about. School wasn't interesting to her...oh, but having a bit of fun is moreso appeasing.

Overall, Lien-Hua is a very loud, crazy, wild, Chocolate loving, pranking, laughing, funny, creative wild child and she loves it.

background:

From as long as she could remember, it was always Lien-Hua, her older brother, and her mother. They say that her father was dead - but the truth was that he ran off with another woman and relocated somewhere in Japan. Lien-Hua didn't ask many questions about her father because she decided that it'd be better if she just left it alone - especially when she saw the pain on her mother's face late at night when she thought that her children was sleeping, but Lien-Hua was always a curious child who found things out quickly, but kept quiet about them. She didn't want to bring up her father - but she did want answers...answers she never really receieved. Her brother, from a young age, took on the role of the man of the house, and he enforced his orders on his little sister. She was to clean the house, cook, and do her homework in a timely manner, and without whining (but she never did anything quietly). It wasn't that he was harsh, he just wanted Lien-Hua to realize that their mother was getting tired, and that she needed to pick up some of the slack as well. Of course, Lien-Hua often times rebelled against her brother just to have a bit of fun, some times disappearing for hours at a time to escape from the house, to always be found by him, no matter where she was. Couldn't a girl just explore the forest without being dragged home by the ear and scolded by her older brother while her mother waited her turn to lecture her child?

Lien-Hua's mother was always involved in her life, as well as her brother. She was the youngest, and they wanted to make sure that she was well-taken care of despite their low economic status. Lien-Hua's brother always told her that it was best for her to work hard and focus in school because there was no other way, without an education, that they would ever break away from being low on the totem pole as they were. But she never liked school - she had a hard time learning, focusing, paying attention. She knew something was wrong with her and it bothered her that she wasn't as smart as her older brother, and as much as she tried to focus on her studies, it was hard. She had other aspirations, though. She wanted to one day own her own restaurant - she just needed to find some way to be able to do so.

Lien-Hua's life changed dramatically when her brother fainted one day. She thought that it was just because of his lack of eating (sometimes he'd skip meals to make sure his mother and Lien-Hua would eat) but that wasn't it. Rushing him to the hospital without much thought, they'd been told after hours of examination that he had a brain tumor and that, since he had it for quite some time and it went unnoticed, there was nothing that they could do for it. It was sad, because he finally got the big break that he wanted - to go to a school in Japan and learn all that he can, then come home and find a career that was stable enough to move his family into a better house and get them a better life. He never got to do that because a few days later, he died. But, his last words to Lien-Hua was that she was the one to hold the small family together - that she couldn't take life as though it was a game - she needed to be serious. With that...she made the sudden decision to go to Japan as her brother and get that education that he had hoped to get. She figured that it was time for her to do something with her life...and it was sad that the death of her brother made her serious about her education, but in a way...it was a blessing in disguise.

the dorm you want: Sadly for her, she's going to be placed in the Intellect Dorm
your classes:

  • Advanced English
  • Advanced Algebra
  • Antropology and Sociology
  • Geography

your homeroom: 215
clubs:

  • Cooking
  • Garden
  • Fashion Design

teams:

  • Debate

your "boy" style: In order to be as convincing as her older brother as possible, she decided to take on his style, the way he acted (whilst keeping a bit about herself, sadly, in the midst). Her brother walked with his head held high, as though nothing in the world got him down despite their low status in society. Her brother didn't talk tough, but he showed people with his actions that he was the destined bread-winner of the family. His brother was very studious, always seen studying whenever he had free time (but, of course, Lien-Hua won't be as such). Her brother always sat in the front of the classroom (but Lien-Hua will attempt to sit in the back). Her brother spoke with honorifics, always politely because he never knew who he would be talking to (but Lien-Hua will surely not be as such - always having snappy comments whenever someone says something she doesn't like and/or getting defensive immediately). Her brother walked with his chest out, his posture good, and Lien-Hua will try this, but it'd be awkward for her, so she'll just walk casually, but try to put a bit of a "boyish" feel into it. Her brother's voice was deep...hers is not, but she will try.

Love, Oh Love, Where Art Thou?

his name: Matsuda Shota (his real name)
his japanese name: --
his role in the dorms: Part of the dorm
his personality:

Matsuda is more of a guy who, once he spots weakness he intends to exploit such weakness. No, he isn't a bully, he just feels as though if one shows weakness, one must need to have their weaknesses tested in order for them to become strengths - though it isn't like that in the beginning...all of this happens later on. His remarks are cold, his words hurtful, and no one is safe from such things - not even authority figures. Instead, even teachers face his wrath. He's not a bad boy - far from it - he gets his work done in a timely manner, study well, and maintains his high GPA, but he does get bored fairly easily, thus making him want to have a little fun by messing with anyone around him. He doesn't believe in messing with weaklings - he'll stay away from them because there is no point in worrying of them. Being that the school is the top, Japanese male institution, he expects that for any who attend there to maintain such a status. When he hears of new students joining into the school, he watches them closely, just to see how 'smart' they really are.

Matsuda is more or less a player. Of course, being that there are no girls who go to the all-boy school, there is no unnecessary drama. He often times find himself speaking with more than one girl in either the same school or a few different schools. His mature features often times confuses university women - thus they speak to him and date him as though he is their age or older, which he enjoys. He finds women to be easy prey for whatever he desires because they are easily manipulated with a handsome face and sweet words. He doesn't take relationships seriously, whether with women or even with friends unless they are extremely close - but it's rare he ever likes someone, friend or not.

Matsuda, too, is competitive. He doesn't accept defeat, he doesn't want to say that he's lost to anyone - ever. He finds it sickening, embarrassing, and a cop out. He also despises when people hand him a win as though it would satisfy him. It doesn't. It only upsets, annoys, and enrages him. If he does lose, he'll murmur that it was luck, or that he wasn't feeling well - he likes to make excuses for the things that doesn't go his way, or form his own explanation of them. It's in his nature.

Overall, Matsuda is a smart-, observant, competitive individual who doesn't accept newcomers into his life - no matter how significant they may be to him in the future.
roomates? No
any classes together? Advanced Algebra (the only class they have together), Homeroom, and lunch
background:

Matsuda came from a household where his father ruled it with an iron fist. He set the rules of the home, therefore he could do what he wanted to - in his mind. He was the bread-winner, the man who brought home the money to sustain the family. Because of this, he believed that it was his divine right to carry on countless affairs - some hidden, some out in the open. It broke Matsuda's mother...but it broke Matsuda more. His mother allowed his father to run all over her, to play her like a fool, to hurt her, mistreat her - and she was worthless for it. She tried to keep her husband's affairs from Matsuda, but she failed. He began to think that women were worthless beings who allowed any and all things to happen to them, thus his behavior for hurting them any way he could. But, he, too, began to have distaste for his father for doing that to the family. His childhood, though they had money and were very much well off in society, wasn't much of a good one once the affairs started...he began to distance himself from people - from his family as well.

                                                                                          Other Stuff.

your friends: Applicants (I'm not too picky, nor do I want millions of unimportant people in the story)
your family:

  • Zhang Ah-lam || 43 || Humble woman, who works many jobs in order to support her children - very emotional, easily broken || Their relationship is a strong one. After the death of Lien-Hua's brother, the two of them became close - not wanting to lose the only people that they had left || mother, so they met by default, right? or should I go into details of the birth? ||
  • Zhang Baojia (deceased) || 17 || Intellectual individual by choice - works hard in order to get his family out of their low economic status so that they can have a better life for themselves  || As brother and sister usually does, the two of them bicker and argue, but it isn't anything serious. He used to tell Lien-Hua to study hard and not give their mother a hard time, but because she was stubborn and carefree, she didn't really listen || Siblings - so the two of them met as such, right? ||
  • Ju-long (pet lizard) || 2 || Stubborn, mean lizard that only follows the instruction of Lein-Hua || A playful relationship, loving and protective - Ju-long (meaning powerful, gigantic dragon), when allowed, follows Lien-Hua to the ends of the Earth || Oddly enough, it clung to Lien-Hua when she was outside playing in the fields and it scared the living daylights out of her when she found him in her closet later that night. However, Lien-Hua kept him in secret from her elder brother and mother for a few months before he was found running around the home ||

rivals:

  • Matsuda Shota || 17 || Not a bully, though it may seem that way. If he sees weakness, he goes for it, and no one is an exception - even teachers often time face his wrath || Their interaction is one that annoys, upsets, and angers Lien-Hua. She feels as though he is a bully, always picking on her because she isn't wise in her classes as the others. He constantly says, "For someone who came here on a full scholarship, you sure are lacking in the smarts department - what the hell are you doing in an advanced class?" Bully. Of course, she dosn't keep quiet, and the two of them bicker back and forth with one another - with her constantly having the last word considering no one goes back and forth with him since he has such a cold demeanor. Everytime the two of them are in the same room with one another, whether they are on opposite ends of the place, Lien-Hua just gets this...shiver down her spine, as though as soon as the two of them met with one another, she immediately has this tracking device that can detect his presence from a mile away. Scary. || The two met when Matsuda (referred to by his last name) was in the principal's office, collecting forms for his teacher (though it was a way to get him out of the classroom for a moment of peace) when Lien-Hua went to the office to register. Once the principal caught sight of Matsuda, immediately he appointed Matsuda to be the one to give Lien-Hua a grand tour of the school since, in the principal's words "He didn't have time to mess around with kids at the start of the year." Matusda did a once-over of Lien-Hua (which caused her to be a bit self-conscious because she thought with the way he eyed her that he'd be able to tell she was female), then spun on the heels of his shoes and without a word, walked out the office - which caused her to chase him down. The 'rivalry' began when he abandoned her in the hallway but not before saying, "They say that you're a genius...that you're so wise. Nagivate your own way around the school, I have more important matters at hand." || comic relief
